media evaluation

1. MEDIA EVALUATION
One strength was that my media product represented the social group of young black males. I
think I have achieved this through my short film as I chose African American actors who made
the clip look realistic and believable. however, one weakness was that the actors were not
professional and I could have chosen more suitable actors however I failed to prepare a plan for
film and rushed to find anyone available.
Another strength was that I edited my product in iMovie which is easily accessible on the app
store for free. iMovie allowed me to edit my short film including transitions like dissolves,
swipes, and rotations. It also allowed me to create a short intro which I think was decent in
relation to how much time I had. The intro included titles and a song called the one produced
by Headie one. on the flipside there were some limitations as it was an app on my phone it
didn’t have all the functions that would be on a software downloaded on a computer for
example premiere pro.this affected the outcome of my filmas It didn’t have visual aspects that
I think would improve the overall feel of the film.
Another restriction was the lack of equipment. Everything that was filmed was recorded on my
iPhone 8 camera instead of an HD camera with a better resolution and more advanced lens.
Although the camera I used was relatively clear I believe that there is a clear difference
between the quality of my phones camera and a professional one.
In the future, I will prepare properly and organize my casting crew earlier as I believe this
product could have been 10 times better if I planned it with time to execute my ideas and
visions. Another disadvantage due to my lack of timing was the locations in which I was able to
film. As the casting crew was only available for a short period of time I was only able to gather
footage in their house, which made it very hard to display the theme I was initially hoping to
capture.
I think that the initial story I went with was shown in the film however as the actors were
nowhere near professional the script had to be improvised resulting in a very poor
representation of the theme.
Although I have had a lot of disadvantages I think it's fair to say that overall, I displayed that I
can work well under pressure in a short period of time and also, I believe it shows that I have

initiative as I didn’t have a budget or professional equipment or preferable locations but I made
do with what I did have and the end product was fairly good.
To conclude in the future, I will try to work in a team instead of independently as sometimes
working with others or even asking for help can take pressure off of you and can generate
success to the product as a whole.
