2. Pre-school training programmes
• Attitudinal barriers leading to illegal discrimination cannot
be overcome simply through laws.
• Best remedy to reduce attitudinal barriers is mingle people
with and without disabilities
• PwD do not need pity or charity.
• Equal opportunities and full participation in society is an
important step to earn their own way and live independently.

4. Services available under pre-school training program
1) Physiotherapy
• Detail assessment of child with motor problems
• Motor problems like – delayed development, cerebral palsy, other
physical disabilities
• Therapeutic programmes to improve gross motor skills like poster
and movement.
2) Occupational Therapy
• Mentally retarted and physically disabled children have problem in
fine motor skills and self-care activities.
• Training to improve fine motor skills like –gripping, grasping and
daily life activities.

5. Services available under pre-school training program
3) Speech therapy
• After detail assessment children should be given intervention as per
individual needs.
• Training for children with hearing problem and those who require
speech and language training.
4) Cognitive training
• For children who have (i) low intellectual capacity (ii) learning
problem due to lack of concentration and co-ordination.
• To improve cognitive functions like colour matching, identifying
shapes, reading, writing, etc.

6. Role of liaisoning officer/team/organization in pre-
school training program
• Promote inclusion for CwDs in partnership with regular pre
schools.
• Create awareness about various disabilities, learning
difficulties and behaviourial problem.
• Develop Individualized Educational Plans for CwSNs as per
regular school curriculum.
• Train parent and family members for care and development of
CwSNs.
