Who would be the target audience for your
media product?
 Models
 My model is a 17 year old male rapper – this targets the teenage to early-20’s age group because most of the
people in this age group tend to be interested in upcoming teenage rap artists. My model is wearing a costume
that represents how famous rap artists dress. This could attract that range of age group because they are used
to seeing outfits like that because they see it from famous rap artists and that is what influences them in terms
of what they wear everyday
 Fonts
 I used fonts that are seen as being very “hipster” because it would attract a lot of Hip-Hop artists as it fits into
the modern genre of Hip-Hop. I used a ‘groovy’ type of font for the headings and titles to attract and draw
people towards the magazine. For normal text, I used sans-sarif type of text to attract the male-dominated
audience of Hip-Hop
 Since Hip-Hop is a male-dominated genre, I targeted the males. I done this by using the model to attract my
audience – using poses that most Hip-Hop artists do when taking pictures for magazines, I used this have a
common convention in Hip-Hop magazines so that the audience are familiar with the appearance of my
magazine.
 I also used my model to attract the opposite gender in terms of Female gaze, as some Females may be drawn
towards to the magazine because they are attracted to the model, in conclusion my model attracts both
genders in various ways.
 In terms of class – my magazine attracts working to middle
class because firstly, the price is suitable because it is at a low
price of £4.99 so most people in that social class range can
afford to purchase my magazine.
 Furthermore, my model is wearing an hipster outfit which is
what most working class and middle class people wear so it fits
into that area.
 Most hip-hop fans are aspirers which are most in
working/middle class and as my cover story is about young
teenager who is making a breakthrough in the Hip-Hop
industry - most of my target group audience will be interested.
