Being in a situation where one is questioning themself and who they truly are, can lead to many conflicts not just within themselves, but within the
ones that are surrounding. In the story Blue Winds Dancing by Thomas Whitecloud and The Enormous Radio by John Cheever, both protagonists face
conflicts that affect both themselves and the ones that surround them. The conflicts between the two stories are very prominent as they both show

monotonous, and insightful. I pictured the narrator as a woman because the main focus of the story revolves around Irene, a woman. The speaker does

The Westcotts and the new radio are physically similar to each other. Jim and Irene appear to all who know them as the "perfect" couple with the
American–dream lifestyle, but "beneath the smooth exterior of their lives lurk serious problems" (O'Hara 35). This is similar to the radio which
appeared normal on the outside, but on the inside contained "violent forces" (818). Another problem the Westcotts and the radio share is increased

On 31 March 2015, Fairfax Media Limited (FXJ) acquired Macquarie Radio Network (MRN) as a reverse acquisition, it is explained in the annual
report that Macquarie Radio Network 100% of Fairfax Media Limited and in return Fairfax Media Limited received 54.5% ownership interest of
Macquarie Radio Network Limited also received cash consideration for $18 million (Fairfax 2015 p.139, Notes to the Financial Statements). They both
come to an agreement of merger implementation agreement (MIA) to consolidate both companies on 21 December 2014. The amount of share that
Macquarie radio purchase was AU$46,645,000 and the cash receive from the acquisition is AU$25,640,000 (table 1.1) (Fairfax 2015 p.77, Notes to the
Financial Statements – Group Structure).
Macquarie Radio Network has a similar business to Fairfax Media Limited that operates in media business, operating radio station that run in Sydney,
Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The CEO Mr. Hywood said that the main reason for entering this merger is to unite the best talkback talent ever

Cheever used Irene to expose the American life and comforts of the middle class life, but it cannot protect the Westcott's against the evil from within
themselves, or in the world around them (The Enormous Radio 1–2). The insanity of Irene has caused for her marriage to suffer to where it can't be
fixed. She became dependent on the radio to tell the gossip that was going on in the building that her insanity got the better of her, and when she
turned on the radio at the end of the story when she turned on the radio she could no longer hear the conversations. This shows that if someone gets too

As the problems of their neighbors are broadcast into the Westcott's living room, the weather outside begins to reflect the climate inside: "There were
hundreds of clouds in the sky, as though the south wind had broken the winter into pieces and were blowing it north" (821). The Westcott's view of
society and of themselves is being changed from a beautiful, solid picture of appearances into many jagged, separate pieces that do not seem to fit
together.

While "The Enormous Radio" and Rouge appear highly different in plot, the two share some surprising similarities. "The Enormous Radio" is about a
well–off family, living in their apartment building in New York City. When their radio breaks and the husband of the household, Jim, goes out to
buy a new one. It arrives at the house, and the wife Irene is horrified by its appearance, and the fact that it doesn't work properly. To solve these
issues, without having to return the radio, the wife hides it behind the couch and brings repairmen in to fix the static and other issues. After the
repairman attempt to fix it to no avail, the wife and husband realize that what they are listening to is not just static, or odd radio shows, but in fact
their neighbors in the apartment building. Over the rest of the story, Irene goes a bit mad listening to her neighbors fight. She becomes increasingly

This quote stood out a lot throughout the film and how Ed Harris (Coach Jones) cared for a young man named "Radio" that is mentally disabled and

Why had this become such a necessity? As she listened to her neighbors' most intimate and private discussions, "Irene began to feel depressed, instead
of delighted as she once had been" (Giordano 57). Jim had bought the radio to make his wife happy, but the depressing, real–life stories she was
hearing everyday made her realize that they had their fair share of problems too. Listening to other couples quarrel all day made her think about all
the problems she and Jim had. Irene had "deluded herself into thinking that her life was different from those she listened to on a daily basis" (Giordano
57), but she now understood that even they had difficulties.
Jim had become fed up with Irene's obsession with the enormous radio. He did not understand why she listened to it so intently if all it did was
bring her misery. Meanwhile, Irene constantly nagged at Jim for even an inch of reassurance that they had better lives than those on the radio. Jim
fought himself to hold in all his built up anger and frustration towards his wife and replied "Of course we're happy" (Cheever 823). Jim knew that
they had just as many problems as the next family. He tried to discuss them with his wife, but as TaVeta Smith points out, she "doesn't address Jim's
concerns at all" (59).
Jim becomes so upset with Irene's obsession that he unleashes his anger by explaining to her why she is so caught up in the enormous radio. He

Throughout their lives, each and every person will endure struggles. While these can vary greatly, each must be handled in the proper way. When it is
time to face the music, some people opt to face it head on, while others choose to take them step by step. Over the course of his battles with marital
and financial issues, John Cheever, author of many short stories and longtime partner of the The New Yorkerdecided instead to push these issues out of
his mind. By utilizing self–delusion he, like many of his characters, were able to cope with the ever changing world around them, but ultimately

The challenging part is actually doing something about it, which is what I will include in my proposal to help get circumstances done. I am
working on this because working there for long enough allows me to know how work is done out on the field and to see all the gaps where there
is room for improvement. I want to make sure everybody working with the company is doing a phenomenal job at being security, not just a few of
