2. Aims of the brief
• I felt that my group covered all the areas we needed to cover. This is such as our audience. We specifically
assigned that we would target audiences between 16-19 year olds which we did. We interviewed them on
the topic of the premier league. We used this topic mainly because many people in the 16-19 years age
bracket watch the premier league, we also used this as our group has a lot of knowledge on this topic
therefore we can ask the most effective questions. This topic is also related to the eastern culture as there
is a team in the premier league from this area. As a group I think we covered all the areas of the brief
which therefore made our audio piece more interesting and entertaining to hear. We also tried to make it
sound as similar as a show such as talk sport so we clearly had a good platform from the beginning to help
us create a good audio and I feel our pre production that we produced helped us achieve that.
3. To what extent does your news segment fit with
your original ideas for an audio piece?
• Our original idea was to create an exciting interview by using the premier league as a key source to make
the audio as entertaining as possible. I feel that this fitted in well with our news segment as we knew how
to create a good atmosphere in the interviews. We did not think of another idea for backup because we
felt so strong about out premier league topic. For the future we may need to consider other topic just in
case something pops up and goes wrong but in this case everything was good. As you may know there are
plenty of topic to talk about in the premier league season15/16 such as Leicester winning the league and
Chelsea finishing 10th, Man U finishing just out of the top 4 even though they remarkably spent 250million
pounds and lastly Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Norwich all got relegated. We knew that using this
information and applying it in our audio in the best way will make our audio very effective.
4. Strengths
• I feel that as a group our key to our success was how well we worked together. It was phenomenal because
in our pre-production, we were able to work as our team to gather up the pre-production as quickly and
efficiently which enabled us to move on to the next task well prepared and with a lot of time to actually
record the audios. As a group it was not hard to find people to ask questions and I feel that once we found
people, we were able to get on with it smoothly in order to edit it later on using the software Logiz. Whilst
using Logiz I fell everybody in our group was able to have a go using this software and really got used to it
and found it not that difficult to use. We were able to use the time we had wisely and as a group I feel we
didn’t waste any time which was key to us producing a finished audio. Not only that, we didn’t just create
a finished audio, we used editing techniques such as a soundtrack and fade. The soundtrack is there to
keep the audio entertaining and not dull. The fade was used to illustrate a change questions.
5. Improvements
• Although our group worked as a solid unit through out we still need to improve certain things which would
make our audio more better. We tried to make it as similar to a show such as talk sport but we didn’t really
include conversations but it almost went on the pathway of an interview of question then answer. We also
could of made it a bit longer as we had more time on our hands. Another key aspect is the use of the mic.
We need to understand that the mic has to be a certain distance from your mouth, not too close or too far
as this has an effect on the proximity. We also needed to record in a better environment so that the
acoustics would be better and I feel lastly, if we can learn more about logiz, we could use a variety of
editing techniques which would have a greater and positive impact on our audio.
