Evaluation 6
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Software
● Photoshop
● Web browser
● Slideshow software
● Word processor
● Survey Monkey
● Slideshare
● Blogger
3. Photoshop
● I have learnt a lot using photoshop, I used it to design my
magazine layout and then once again for the final
magazine draft. I already knew a bit about it before starting
this project so it wasn't too hard for me to use, but I have
learnt more a long the way.
● Positives: Produces high quality images, Easy to edit
photos in, You can create pretty much anything.
● Negatives: Has massive file sizes, can be overly
complicated for things such as undoing/redoing, Need a
good computer to run it on.
4. Web Browser
● Without using a web browser this project would
have been impossible, I used a web browser
mainly for my research. With the use of google
and other search engines, I was able to find
everything I needed to know about who I should
target my magazine at and what other
magazine's are out there.
5. Slideshow software
● I used two different slideshow softwares during
my project, I used microsoft powerpoint and
open office slideshow. I had to use open office
at home as I haven't bought MS powerpoint.
Both softwares are very similar and use the
same file type making it easy to import my work
into both. Both slideshow softwares are very
similar and made my project a whole lot easier
for presenting information and data.
6. Word Processor
● I also used two different word processors for
my project as once again I didn't have microsoft
word at home, Instead I used the open office
free word processor again. I didn't use a word
processor for much other than planning
documents as I typed most of work out directly
onto my blog.
7. Survey Monkey
● I have never used survey monkey before and
found it really easy and quick to use. It was
perfect for sending out a survey to friends and
associates to carry out my audience research.
The Only problem I had with it was the fact you
could only ask 10 questions. Preferably I would
have liked to have asked more to get a wider
knowledge of my audience, but you had to pay
to do this.
8. Slideshare
● Slideshare was very useful as a quick way of
uploading my slideshows onto my blog, instead
of having to upload every slide individually, I
used slideshare to upload my presentation as
one. It is very easy to navigate and was very
useful in presenting my work.
9. Blogger
● I used blogger to upload and present all my
work. It was not that hard to get your head
around, even though I did struggle at the
beginning. It's very useful for uploading all your
work in one place making it easily accessible.
The only problem I can see with it is that its a
public blog and others may be able to find it
and copy work.
11. PC
● A PC is probably the most important piece of
hardware I used. I used it to store, design &
research everything I needed. Without it the
task would have been impossible.
12. DSLR Camera
● I have used a DSLR Camera before so kind of
knew what I was doing, but I also learnt a lot a
long the way. It was very useful as it provides
high quality digital images that I used in my final
media product.
13. Smart Phone
● I used a smart phone (iPhone) to record my
interview for my audience research and also to
email pictures to myself to pick up on my
computer, I also captured the picture on the
front cover at a gig I went to using my smart
phone. It's very useful as it's portable and I
always have it on me if there's anything I need
to send from it.
