2. Presentations (Tuesday)
• Oral communication = professional
communication (chance to practice)
• Audience: us!
• Purpose: Explain your issue, discuss at which
stasis point(s) it’s stalled and what would
need to happen to move the issue forward.
• 5 minutes MAX (time yourself)
• Upload your slideshow to slideshare.net and
send me the link by Monday at 9 p.m.
4. Presentation slides are not
documents, but visual
placeholders.
• Use very little text.
• Rely heavily on images.
• One idea per slide.
• Unlike this slide.
8. Use at least 32-point font, and make sure it’s a
sans-serif typeface (Calibri, Arial, Helvetica, Gill
Sans)
9. Tips for Speaking
• Memorize your presentation (or at
least talking points).
• Talk TO the audience. (Don’t stare up
at the slides.)
• Breathe. Maintain presence. Pause
rather than “um.”
