I learned about designing
documents, slides, screens
and websites.
I learned about specific font
sizes and which are
appropriate when designing
presentation slides.
I learned also through the
use of our bad website
analysis assignment. I was
able to spot what was wrong
and what should be changed
based on my knowledge from
the readings.
5. Module 12
I learned about persuasive
messages and the
techniques and strategies
of creating and responding
to these messages.
The techniques included
subject lines, building
credibility and emotional
appeal.
6. Module 21
I learned about progress
reports and proposals.
I did not know much about
these types of professional
writings other than the
basics.
I learned about how to
structure your content and
follow up responses to
proposals like RFPs.
7. Social Media
I was already
knowledgeable about social
media however I did learn
about its use, misuse, and
appropriate use.
The assignment about
finding a social media
mishap helped me
understand just how
sensitive words can be on
the internet, even for
major corporations such as
McDonald’s.
8. Significance
The significance of the past
weeks lessons is
tremendous. As an aspiring
small business owner like
myself, I will have to use
these writing skills and
techniques in my day-today operations.
Because of my prior
exposure to professional
writing through this course,
I will already be familiar
and continue flourish
throughout my career.
9. Implementation
From creating an appealing and
functional website, to corporate
progress reports, being
knowledgeable about these
business activities is imperative.
For the rest of my life I will have
to write letters trying to persuade
the other party. In addition
creating presentations and
websites and reports, knowing how
to do so is very important to me.
Out of all my classes I have taken
this semester, professional writing
so far has been the most
informative, relative, and useful
course. I have learned a great deal
from our lessons, and look forward
to utilizing my skills in the
business world.
