The story “A Shipwrecked Sailor” written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, portrays an
adventurous journey of a sailor Luis Alejandro Velasco.
Pre-requisites
The learner, 1) heard about voyages and the problems arising while travelling
through the sea.
2) saw movies having the scenes of fierce storm and shipwreck.

2. Teacher interacts informally with the learners to make a good rapportwith them.
Teacher shows some images of shipwreck and asks the learners to sit in groups and
create a story with the help of the images.
Teacher allows the learners to present their story.
3. Then the teacher shows an image of a shipwreck and a sailor and asks them to predict
the name of the lesson.
Teacher helps the learners to predict the name of the lesson.
4. The teacher then gives a small account of the author Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Teacher makes one of the learners to read aloud the passage and asks others to mark
unfamiliar words.
Then the teacher shows the pictures and gives situations, which leads to the meaning of
the words.
