Informal talk
The teacher enters the class and asks the students
Some informal questions like:
 How was your day?
 How are you?
Linking with the previous knowledge
Teacher talks to the students and tries to grab the
knowledge of students about the topic. She asks
questions like:
 Have you seen grasshoppers?
 Have you seen crickets?
Picturization
Teacher shows the picture of grasshopper and
cricket and also the picture of John Keats and
checks whether the students could identify any of
it.

Introduction about the poet
The teacher gives a brief introduction about the
poet.
Reading by the teacher
The teacher reads the poem loudly with correct
stress, rhythm, pronunciation and intonation.
Collaborative learning
The teacher asks the students to sit in groups and
discuss about the difficult words.
Clarification of difficult words
The teacher clarifies the meaning of difficult words

like hedge, weed, frost etc by showing pictures.
 hedge /hɛdʒ/: a fence or boundary formed by
closely growing bushes or shrubs.
 weed /wiːd/: a wild plant growing where it is
not wanted and in competition with
cultivated plants.
 frost /frɒst/: a deposit of small white ice

crystals formed on the ground or other
surfaces when the temperature falls below
freezing.
Explanation
The teacher explains the summary, theme and
rhyming words of the poem.
Creative section
The teacher asks the students to write a poem with
the title ‘Sunrise’.
Listening time
The teacher makes the students listen to the audio
of the poem ‘The Daffodils’.

The teacher makes the students recite the poem
‘The Daffodils’ with the same tone as in the audio.
Game time
The teacher presents a slide
Read the poem carefully and answer the following
questions

In joyful oneness with their graceful strength,
I swam with gentle dolphins.

2. What feature of the poetry is the phrase ‘silky skin’?
