The Great Gatsby Weather Analysis
In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the weather sets a mood or follows the
emotion of the novel. Many people Change their mood in certain weather conditions, and in this
novel, the weather is symbolic of the mood in the novel. Fitzgerald uses the rainy weather in this
novel to symbolize several things. For example, on the day that Gatsby plans to meet with Daisy, it
is raining before they meet. "The day agreed upon was pouring rain. At eleven o'clock a man in a
raincoat dragging a lawn–mower tapped at my front door and said that Mr. Gatsby had sent him over
to cut my grass." (Fitzgerald 88). In this situation, the rain represents an anxious and hopelessness
mood. When Gatsby arrived at Nick's house, he begins to doubt ... Show more content on

"The next day was broiling, almost the last, certainly the warmest, of the summer. As my train
emerged from the tunnel into the sunlight, only the hot whistles of the National Biscuit Company
broke the simmering hush at noon. The straw seats of the car hovered on the edge of combustion;
the woman next to me perspired delicately for a while into her white shirtwaist and then, as her
newspaper dampened under her fingers, lapsed despairingly into the deep heat with a desolate cry"
(120–121). This symbolizes the upcoming conflict and foreshadows the climax of emotions that are
to come, with the confrontation in the suite, Daisy's rejection, and Myrtle's death. The heat also
shows the mix and confusion of emotions in Daisy, and Daisy recognizes that " '... it's so hot'... 'And
everything's so confused'..." (125). This quote symbolizes Daisy and Gatsby's relationship. It is
when the weather is at it's hottest that Gatsby's and Daisy's relationship reaches a climax. Also when
Nick, Gatsby, Daisy, Jordan, and Tom are all sitting in the Plaza, the book describes the daytime to
also be unbearably hot. " 'Oh, let's have fun,' she begged him. 'It's too hot to fuss.' He didn't answer"
(126). This quote shows that as the weather progressively gets hotter so does the tempers of Gatsby
and Tom. The heat, in this case, symbolizes the way that hatred between Daisy's husband and

Weather In A Thousand Splendid Suns
Foster points out that the weather plays a critical role in a work of literature. Whether it be for plot
development or for a democratic reason, rain, snow, or fog plays a significant role in literature. In
general, rain can bring about enlightenment and restoration, and snow can bring abstract thought.
What an author does with rain, snow, or fog in the novel can signify a change in character or parallel
the atmosphere or what is happening in the novel. For much of A Thousand Splendid Suns, the
characters must withstand a drought. However, when there was a snowfall during the winter of
1992, "[Laila] would retreat back to her room, sit on the bed, and watch the snow falling" (208).
Instead of going outside to feel the snow, Laila remains

Global Warming : Extreme Weather
Global Warming: Extreme Weather & Seasonal Mismatching Recent climate modeling results
indicate that "extreme" weather events may become more common. Rising average temperatures
produce a more variable climate system. Carbon dioxide from cars, industries and power plants trap
heat near the earth 's surface. More heat means more energy. Adding more energy to the atmosphere
creates the potential for more extremes. Climatologists say extreme weather events will become
more common as our climate heats up. The gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's
atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon
dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants is known as Global Warming. The greenhouse
effect is when the Earth 's atmosphere becomes thick with gases, such as Carbon dioxide, and
substances which trap the sun 's radiation, making the Earth warmer. The extreme weather is leading
to climate changes which are resulting in seasonal mismatching.
The Earth 's seasons have shifted back in the calendar year, with the hottest and coldest days of the
years now occurring almost two days earlier. Temperatures over land in the 100–year period
between 1850 and 1950 showed a simple, natural pattern of variability, with the hottest day of the
year in the Northern Hemisphere landing around July 21. But from the mid–1950s onward (the
period when global average temperatures began to rise), the hottest day came 1.7 days earlier.

Affects Of Weather On Deer Hunting
Effects of Weather on Deer Hunting Every year the fall brings in one of the biggest sports, hunting.
According to David Crook in his article How big is the Hunting Economy, there are about 13.7
million people or approximately six percent of the United States population that consider themselves
to be hunters. When all of these people get up the morning of opening day there is one thing that
affects the way that they hunt. Every avid hunter knows that they have to base their hunting style off
of the weather. The different factors of the weather such as the temperature, wind speed, barometric
pressure, and precipitation changes the way the deer move and can either make or break a deer
hunter's season. The movement of a whitetail deer changes according to the weather. There are
several different factors to consider when talking about the weather, but the one of the leading
factors is the temperature. Some people believe that the colder it is outside, the better the hunting
becomes. This is true until it gets so cold that the deer have to bed down and not move to stay warm.
When the temperature begins to drop down to about 35 degrees Fahrenheit, the deer begin
scrambling for food to prepare for winter and the rut. The rut is a deer's mating season. This has the
deer at a constant movement and makes for prime hunting. When the temperature begins to change,
the amount of movement of the deer begins to change also. If the temperature rises then the amount
of a deer's movement

Climate Change And Weather Change
Recently, climate change has been a major topic of discussion. As the world decides what actions
should be taken to help with the changing climate, severe weather has increased over the past few
years. Several factors has created a change in climate but there have been countless effects to Earth
because of climate change and severe weather is one of those effects. "In fact, the first decade of this
century (2001–2010) was the hottest decade recorded since reliable records began in the late 1800s"
(Union of Concerned Scientist, n.d.). The Earth is not only stronger storms such as Hurricane Ivan,
Super Typhoon Haiyan, Joplin, MO tornado and tornado super outbreaks, but there also have been
severe droughts as well. Climate change is effecting extreme weather because the climate has been
changing over the years causing the waters and Earth to become warmer, which is causing extreme
weather to become stronger and more severe. Extreme weather can include storms and floods,
temperature extremes, droughts and habitat shifting & alteration (The Open Standards, n.d.).
According to The Open Standards, storms and floods includes thunderstorms, tropical storms,
hurricanes and cyclones, tornadoes, hailstorms, ice storms and blizzards, dust storms and erosions of
the beaches. Temperature extremes are heat waves, cold spells, oceanic temperature changes and
disappearance of glaciers/sea ice. The Open Standards also states that droughts are severe lack of
rain and loss of surface water

Flood and National Weather Service
A flash flood is a rapid flooding of geomorphic low–lying areas – washes, rivers, dry lakes and
basins. It may be caused by heavy rain associated with a storm, hurricane, or tropical storm or melt
water from ice or snow flowing over ice sheets or snowfields. Flash floods can also occur after the
collapse of a natural ice or debris dam, or a human structure such as a man–made dam, as occurred
before the Johnstown Flood of 1889. Flash floods are distinguished from a regular flood by a
timescale less than six hours. The temporary availability of water is often utilized by plants with
rapid germination and short growth cycle, and by specially adapted animal life.

* The banking transactions across the counters were adversely affected and many branches and
commercial establishments were unable to function from late evening of 26 July 2005. The state
government declared the 27th (and later, 28th) of July as a public holiday. ATM networks of several
banks, which included the State Bank of India, the nation's largest national bank; ICICI Bank,
HDFC Bank, and several foreign banks like Citibank and HSBC, stopped functioning from the
afternoon of 26 July 2005 at all the centers of Mumbai. ATM transactions could not be carried out in
several parts of India on 26 July 2005 or 27 July 2005 due to failure of the connectivity with their

The Importance Of Weather In Literature
Angelina Blackwell
AP Literature and Composition
Mrs. Smith
9/20/17
Weather can influence many things in literature. It can influence the mood, plot, characters, &
setting. Foster makes it very clear to us that an author will never put weather into a story with no
reasoning behind it. Weather is not just simply a setting in literature.
The author begins the chapter "It's More Than Just Rain or Snow" by explaining what mood the
quote "It was a dark and stormy night" creates. He explains how weather is never placed in a story
for no reason. Weather is a factor used to create a mood in the passage. "A sunny day with no clouds
in sight..." will create a happy mood while the reader could be imagining themselves in the story
being outside on a beautiful clear day with the sunshine hitting them just right. That could put
anyone in a cheerful mood, right? If the author started a story with "The rain was beating down on
the roof as I realized it had been my first night without him...". Now obviously if the character had
just lost someone they would be sad but adding rain to the scene adds the effect of sadness and
allows the reader jump in the book to feel what the character is feeling.
When meeting characters in the beginning of novels, the author can add how they perceive weather
to let the readers get a feel for how observing they are. If the character pays no mind to the weather
the reader may see that had acted as ignorant.
Chapter 10 elaborates on how weather can

Theme Of Weather In Catcher In The Rye
We wake up everyday to different weather, either good or bad, however our emotions are depended
upon it. One September day arose, rain was falling and so were my emotions. I felt sad for no
reason, I should have felt happy because it was Saturday, but no matter what happened, I was down.
In the Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger uses weather to exploit emotion. As rain approaches many
people start to feel depressed, but also content. Holden explains why he believes people are crazy
for leaving the cemetery just because of the rain. He starts to talk about what the scenery looks like,
and how he feels. Holden states "It rained on his lousy tombstone, and it rained on the grass on his
stomach. All the visitors that were visiting the cemetery started running like hell over their cars.
That's what really drove me crazy" (172). Holden becomes sad as he sees everyone leave just
because of the rain, he feels depressed that people would just leave their loved ones alone. Holden's
emotions are depressing, but he will also show a sign of joy due to the weather. Holden changes to a
happy state of mind as he sees the many parents hide under the carousel for cover. He talks about
feeling happy as he views Phoebe going around and around on the carousel. He states "It began to
rain like a bastard. All the parents and mothers and everybody went over and stood right under the
roof of the carousel. I felt so damn happy all of the sudden, the way Phoebe was going around and
around and around" (233). Holden will not let the rain change her happiness, he consumes happiness
and feels like he may cry. Overall, rain has played a key role in showing emotion, but the snow
seems to take a different turn on things. Salinger shows that the cold can pick up emotions to make
people feel despondent and lonely. Holden describes a time in the city when he felt like he had
vanished from life. He talks about crossing the road, but then everytime he would cross he would
feel gone. He projects "It was kind of a crazy afternoon, terrifically cold, and no sun out or anything,
you would feel like you were disappearing every time you crossed a road" (8). When Holden says he
feels like he is disappearing, he is saying that his emotion is lonely and

Weather The Migration Hypothesis
The reading and the lecture discuss weather the migration hypothesis is true for the edomontosaurs–
the elephant like dinosaurs to prove the North Slope as their habitat. The lecturer puts forth three
aspects, each of which has casts doubt on the three points presented in the reading passage. To begin
with, the professor avers that at the time of the edomontosaurs the temperature in the North slopes
was warmer than ours. She says that the warmer temperature helps to have good vegetation in
summer. Even the dead plants were enough to feed the edomontosaurs in the North slopes during
winter. Thus the edomontosaurs did not need to migrate to south– the warm place. This directly
challenges the reading assertion that the food requirement for the

Extreme Weather And Heat Waves
The first article or website that I explored was titled Extreme weather. It begins by stating that as the
world has warmed, it has triggered several other things in the earth's climate to be altered. It then
goes further into depth specifically naming the factors that have been changing due to the altering of
the climate. These factors include: heat waves, droughts, heavy downpours, floods, and lastly,
hurricanes (Extreme Weather, 2014).
Heat Waves In this section, a heat wave is referred to as "abnormally hot weather lasting days to
weeks". It further goes on to say that the recent number of heat waves have been steadily increasing
with numbers almost "triple the long–term average" (Extreme Weather, 2014). In this section it is
claimed that the droughts in Texas in the year 2011, and in the Midwest in the year of 2012, that
records were set for the highest monthly average temperatures to date (Extreme Weather, 2014).
A picture of a map is provided of the coast–to–coast 100 degree days in 2011, in conclusion, it is
observable that heat waves are on a steady increase.
Droughts A drought is described as an event that happens due to a rise in temperatures that leads to
an increased rate of evaporation, this even includes the loss of moisture through plant leaves
(Extreme Weather, 2014). This section on droughts states that as the soil dries out due to the increase
in heat, that it results in hotter soil and "adjacent air rather than evaporating its moisture" and that

Analyzing Anomalous Weather
In recent years, scientists and the general public have become increasingly aware of climate change.
Scientists have begun and continue to study historical and geologic records in order to determine
natural patterns versus human–induced changes in climate. By studying historical data and recent
impacts, scientists may be able to determine consequences people will face now and in the future.
One of the potential consequences of the changing climate is an increase in anomalous weather
events. By definition, an anomaly is an irregularity, or something that varies from the normal pattern
or range. For the purpose of this study, anomalous weather refers to measured temperature and
precipitation values which deviate from the normal range for weather in the area of interest.
Extreme weather phenomena result in numerous instances of property damage, human
displacement, and loss of human life in the United States and globally each year. In recent years,
there seems to have been an increase in anomalous weather conditions, such as floods, droughts,
severe storms, and high temperatures, among other types of events. Extreme weather episodes affect
a range of sectors including agriculture, and food security, water, health, and tourism (Cooney,
2012). Some areas, such as developing countries, are more vulnerable than others due to lack of
funds, planning, and infrastructure (Cooney, 2012). However, more needs to be done in all areas in
order to prepare for the rising number of these

Weather Forecast Research Paper
Throughout this assignment I have learned that there are many things that go into making a weather
forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low temperatures
as well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of models to choose
from for weather forecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on my atmospheric
situation.
Due to the fact that I live in Missouri I found it difficult to use some of the methods due to the fact
that the weather is constantly changing. I originally thought I could use the Persistence Forecasting
Model, but then I realized that the weather changes to often for it to be the same each day. It would
have been a better option if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So I began to look up the long–term average of weather conditions for each day in order to predict
the weather for the given day. Most of the time it was pretty precise but it could have been better.
Out of the six models I found the Numerical Model to be the best choices when creating a forecast
since it seemed to be the most accurate, due to the fact that it measures uses calculations and takes
into consideration the pressure, temperature, winds, humidity, clouds and precipitation. Out of all
the numerical models I chose to specifically use the North American Mesoscale model (NAM)
because it was specific for my atmospheric situation.
Despite using the models for forecasting, I learned you have to take into consideration the different
surface features including the different types of fronts and pressure systems.
Overall, I have learned that being a meteorologist is not the path for me. The different models of
forecasting are all very different and often hard to read. It takes a lot of time and patients to look
through all the different models and understand them. I am a type of person who likes immediate
answer and rather than having to go through multiple steps to figure out one

Weather Associated On Weather Conditions
Generally to predict the future weather information we have to use the past weather reports. Todays
weather may not exactly match with weather of the same day in the privous year. The probability
that the weather condition of the day in consideration will match the same day in previous year is
very less. But the probability that it will match within the span of adjacent fortnight of previous year
is very high.So we can take the adjacent fortnights weather report into consideration to predict the
current day weather. To predict the future's weather condition, the variation in the conditions in past
years must be utilized. There are various approaches available in weather forecasting, from
relatively simple observation of the sky to highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artificial neural network was combined with the genetic algorithm to get the more optimized
prediction . An improved technique that uses artificial neural network with photovoltaic system was
proposed by Isa et al.that utilizes perceptron model with Levenberg Marquardt algorithm. Apart
from neural network Fuzzy logic has also been being used in weather prediction models. The
rainfall was classified into three fuzzy sets which can be predicted by making use of simple fuzzy
rules . Also a fuzzy self–regression model was proposed by Lu Feng and Xu xiao Guang which
makes use of the form of self–related sequence number according to observed number. The self–
related coefficients were computed by making use of Fuzzy Logic . A combined approach of neural
network with Fuzzy Logic is being proposed for the weather prediction system. The work has
applied principle component analysis technique to the fuzzy data by making use of Autoassociative
neural networks.
But the main problem with the methods discussed above is most of they don't provide any
mathematicalrelationship between different parameters. Data not been being mathematically
described and analyzed. But a mathematical model that could represent the relationship among
previous data that could be used for prediction is still desired. A new sliding window approach for
the same is being proposed in this text for weather prediction.

Hurricane Katrina And Weather Similarities
One of the most consistently dealt with factors in daily life is weather. Weather could just be the
temperature, rain, snow, clouds, or it could be far more severe. When talking about weather it is
important to remember that severe weather such as hurricanes is also a part of the equation.
Hurricanes can garner a large amount of media coverage, along with a lot of attention from the
general public, depending on how severe the hurricane is. A hurricane has the potential to cause a
substantial amount of damage, cost an unfortunate amount of money, and even take lives depending
on the size of it. Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Irma are two hurricanes that did end up
endangering the most lives, causing some of the most damage, and costing some of the most money.
Although these hurricanes took place at different times and in different places, it is still possible, and
important even, to compare these two major weather events. In order to compare these two events, it
is necessary to first know some of the basic facts of each of them. Hurricane Irma took was recorded
outside the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Hurricane Katrina was also recorded hitting the
Gulf Coast, but on a different path. Katrina ended up hitting the New Orleans area with a lot of
strength while Irma's path was more so set on the Caribbean islands and Florida. "On September 6,
Hurricane Irma left a string of small Caribbean islands devastated" ("Hurricane Irma"). Irma would

Hellenistic Weather Patterns
Currently, climate change and erratic weather patterns are among the most prevalent news items.
Moreover, modern day humans have developed a habit of checking the daily weather update, and
they use this information for planning their day activities. Citing the recent weather disasters, such
as the Tsunami, and Hurricane Katrina, weather patterns have become an integral part of the modern
day living. According to a study by Horanont, Phithakkitnukoon and Leong, particular weather
conditions influence human activities when contrasted with people's normal activity patterns.
Further, these activities were noticeable at different time intervals of the day (e81153).
Consequently, the weather has an effect on how people feel and act.
According to Horanont, Phithakkitnukoon and Leong, cold, rainy, and windy weather conditions
influenced human activities significantly (e81153). During the cold and rainy weather days, people's
day and night activities were more diverse. The intensity of the weather condition influenced
people's activities with heavy rainfalls and strong wind speeds days indicating more diversity in
terms of human day and night activities (Horanont, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

shelter (Sherman–Morris 670). Moreover, people response to a weather condition is based on the

Weather In The Great Gatsby
Weather in the book is used to convey a multitude of things, but rain in particular symbolizes some
sort of melancholy. Each time rain appears throughout the book, it sets the scene and adds to the
mood of the situation, recurring numerous times in order to solidify that symbolic relationship. One
time when the rain is prevalent is when Daisy and Gatsby first reunite. Their initial meeting is
awkward and forced, thus the rain was falling. This allows the reader to not only understand the
predicament to a greater extent, but also to visualize it. It had been five years since they were last
together, and in that, the rain represents the despair left over from their time apart. After they

Weather Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
Rain, heat, fog, the weather had an immense role in both the setting and symbolically. Like Thomas
Foster stated, "weather is never just weather. It's never just rain. And that goes for snow, sun,
warmth, cold, and probably sleet."(Fos) Weather in The Great Gatsby is enriched with meaning and
impact to the novel and one example being when Gatsby and Daisy met again after five years. The
morning before Gatsby and Daisy were going to meet, after Nick secretly arranged for Daisy to have
tea with Gatsby in his house, Gatsby send for Nick's lawn to be mowed and for a "greenhouse" to be
set up in his Nick's house. At "two minutes for four"(Fit) Daisy arrived and it was raining and before

Additionally, another weather forecast that had an impact was the mist that formed in the bay that
divided Gatsby's and Daisy's houses. On the day that Gatsby and Daisy reunited and they and Nick
went on a tour of Gatsby house, they all went to the dock and Gatsby stated "If it wasn't for the mist
we could see your home across the bay"(Fit), "You always have a green light that burns all night at
the end of your dock"(Fit). The green light represents Gatsby's dreams he haves for his future and
having Daisy is one of them, so when the mist/fog is dividing his house and Daisy's house the
readers will probably think that it represents that because Daisy is with him, Gatsby reached his
green light. Thomas Foster stated, "Fog, for instance. It almost always signals some sort of
confusion"(Fos), and with that being said the mist covering the green light at the end of Daisy's dock
represents confusion within Gatsby because even though Daisy is next to him at the time, he knows
that she is still not truly his.
Furthermore, the big conflict, the climax happens on one of the hottest days the characters
experienced in the novel and there is a purpose for that. "The heat oppressive, the sun destructive"
(Fos), said Thomas Foster. On the day that Gatsby and Daisy where going to tell Tom that they
wanted to be together, that's when Daisy started to complaining and saying that "it's so hot"(Fit) on
"the verge of tears"(Fit) and that they shall all go to town, they got in

Weather In Purple Hibiscus
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novel, Purple Hibiscus, is an unconventional coming of age novel, set
in postcolonial Nigeria. Kambili, a teenage Igbo girl, lives with her brother Jaja, mother and her
wealthy, religious zealot father, who abuses the family in the name of Catholicism. Kambili sees her
life as the norm, however her paradigm completely changes when she and Jaja go to spend a week at
her Aunty Ifeoma's house; and the freedom they experience creates a staggering rift within their
family. It addresses various themes and motifs, including religion, domestic abuse, silence, and
political strife. However, one of the more underrated themes in the book is the imagery of nature;
the text is littered with vivid imagery and analogies connecting the characters with this theme.
Weather is one aspect of nature that becomes prevalent, and gives the events in the book a deeper
and more subtle meaning that goes missed by most. Adichie uses the weather as a symbolic
undertone to illustrate the emotional shift of Kambili between her life in Engu and her newfound
freedom in Nsukka. Weather is a symbol of nature that is the most blatant reflection of the Achikes'
lives, and yet is the most subtle in illustrating how it evolves. The second chapter of the book opens
with a normal day in the life of Kambili: she is doing her homework when Mama comes into her
room, with Kambili's uniforms in hand, fresh off of the clothesline outside. Kambili is confused,

sunshine. In Frankenstein, weather promotes a deeper meaning when Victor's brother dies. Victor

Weather And Weather In Albert Camus's The Stranger
As Thomas C. Foster states in his book How to Read Literature Like a Professor, if a reader is
analyzing a work, "one does well to remember, as one starts reading a poem or story, to check the
weather" (Foster 75). If there's one element of a literary work that can easily affect a scene, it is the
weather. Weather in literature can vary greatly from rain to snow to hail to fog and onwards. There is
one type of weather, however, that is prominently featured within Albert Camus' novel The Stranger,
and that is hot, sunny weather. The novel's protagonist Meursault frequently makes remarks of the
weather surrounding him, from the blazing sun at his mother's funeral to the blinding light on a
beach in Algiers where he shoots a man dead. If connected, the reader can understand that the
weather is simply not there to set the scene –– it is there to affect Meursault's feelings and actions in
the moment. The first major example is on the march to his mother's funeral, where Meursault
frequently decides to take in the scenery, rather than the death of his mother. Rather than mourn her,
he to describe that he might understand his mother more by the seeing the beautiful scenery and the
cypress trees. This is simply pushed out of the way when he notices the area his mother lived in
"with the sun bearing down, making the whole landscape shimmer with heat, was inhuman and
oppressive" (Camus 15). He, despite the tragedy in his life, focuses more on his physical need to
cool off, the fact that the sun was "making it hard for [him] to see or think straight" (Camus 17), and
focusing on what is currently in front of him. Then the second major example is the shooting on the
beach, where Meursault ultimately kills an Arab. As Meursault contemplates shooting the Arab
harassing Raymond, the sun is described as a force on the protagonist. Watching the man lay on the
beach, he describes the sun–influenced beach "pressing on [his] back" (Camus 58) and how the
burning "made [him] move forward" (Camus 59). Although he displays only detached emotion, the
sun literally and metaphorically makes Meursault hot–headed and impulsive, describing how under
the sun "[his] forehead especially was hurting [him], all the veins throbbing under the

The Weather In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
When it comes to literature, weather can be used in many different ways. It can symbolize theme,
set the mood of the story, and even affect the plot. In Tangerine by Edward Bloor, the weather acts
as a plot device and as a symbol.
First and foremost, the weather both creates and resolves conflict. For instance, on page 51, Erik
says, "There was a crack, a flash, and he went flying through the air." Due to the volatile weather,
lightning strikes Mike, killing him instantly. Two other examples of this include the sinkhole, and, to
an extent, Erik slipping during the football game. The sinkhole allows Paul a second chance at
soccer, and kicks off the second part of the book. As for Erik's slip–up, although it's Antoine's fault,

in the United States" by Patrick J. Egan and Megan Mullin published in the journal Nature. Egan is
an Assistant Professor of Politics and Public Policy at NYU. He has written or co–written many
works ranging from LGBTQ+ rights to politics, to climate change. He seems to write a lot about
public opinion and how it comes to be. Egan's works have been published in journals ranging from
Journal of Politics to another article in Nature, to a report for the National Gay and Lesbian Task
Force Policy Institute. Megan Mullin, who equally contributed to the article, is an Associate
Professor of Environmental policies at Duke University. She has had ... Show more content on

Since winter temperatures have increased much faster than summer temperatures, it would seem to
line up well with Americans preferences. On a county–by–county basis they found, using their WPI
scale, that in the past 40 years the average mean WPI score has increased, meaning over time people
are living in more and more preferable weather. Next, they calculated that approximately 80% of
people live in counties where the weather has improved. (Egan and Mullin, 2016) Lastly, Mullin and
Egan discuss the problems with the perceived comfort of Americans and how this comfort will
change. Climate models show that the trend of smaller increases in summer temperatures, and
higher increases in winter temperatures of the past 40 years will soon reverse. Using their WPI data
and two separate scenarios for Americans future by 2099, they calculated how "pleasant" the
weather will most likely be. In the first scenario they calculated in weather pleasantness if
greenhouse house emissions are stabilized shortly after 2100, and found that approximately 71% of
American counties would experience a decrease in WPI score. In the second scenario they
calculated if greenhouse emissions were left unabated by 2100, and found that approximately 88%
of American counties would likely experience a decrease in WPI score. (Egan and Mullin, 2016)
The authors believe that this switch from more to less pleasant weather could be big problem.

Theme Of Weather In The Great Gatsby
Many great books use many different natural occurrences or things to symbolize themes, moods, a
meaning of the book, etc. The Great Gatsby is no exception, Fitzgerald uses many different methods
to blend the story into what it is, but one thing that he uses that might slip through the reader's mind
is weather. Fitzgerald uses weather throughout the book to set/show the mood of the chapter/scene.
Right from the start, Fitzgerald uses weather to set the tone for Nick. "And so with the sunshine and
the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar
conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer"(Fitzgerald 4). Nick had just moved
to the East, looking to start a new life. It represents his high hopes that he has for his life ahead. He
states earlier that he was restless after the war, so he is very eager to achieve these goals he has in
mind. It also represents the coming changes in his life. Summer starts to come around right as he
goes to Daisy's house, something that will affect his life for years to come. It is no accident that
summer comes right as his life is about to change. Fitzgerald also uses a lot of weather to set the
emotional tone when Gatsby reunites with Daisy. He uses the rain in chapter five to represent the
nervousness of Gatsby.
"With his hands still in his coat pockets he stalked by me into the hall, turned sharply as if he were
on a wire, and disappeared into the living–room. It wasn't a bit funny. Aware of the loud beating of
my own heart I pulled the door to against the increasing rain"(86).
A little earlier in the chapter, Gatsby also says that the rain is supposed to stop at four. Almost as if
he this trying to tell himself that he will stop being nervous once Daisy shows up, but contrary to
that, the rain intensifies, and so does Gatsby's signs of being nervous. But later in the chapter, Nick
says that the sun starts to shine again, and he mentions, "While the rain continued it had seemed like
the murmur of their voices, rising and swelling a little now and then with gusts of emotion"(88–89).
In this part, Fitzgerald blatantly uses the rain to describe that Gatsby was nervous. It is basically
saying that

Weather Conditions On Black Saturday
– Heatwaves: The weather conditions on Black Saturday were some of the worst weather conditions
ever recorded. In the weeks preceding the bushfires, there had been a series of exceptional
heatwaves in south–eastern Australia and particularly Victoria. The heatwave that accompanied the
bushfires on the day broke records. Much of Victoria, including Melbourne and 20 other centres
registered unprecedented maximum temperatures. Melbourne reached 46.4° Celsius, the highest in
154 years of record keeping. The causes of these heatwaves were blocking high pressure systems
over the Tasman Sea, which channelled hot, dry tropical air over south–eastern Australia. – Low
rainfall: The soaring temperatures of the heatwaves were preceded by months of very

Theme Of Weather In Tangerine
Weather you like it or not, weather is very important
In many books authors use outside forces to change a story's plot or the way the characters are
headed. In Tangerine weather and natural disasters affect and change the plot and characters. On
page 50, Erik says, "He was just standing there in the end zone. He had one hand on the goalpost,
leaning on it, and kaboom! There was a crack, and a flash, and he went flying through the air. He
landed right on his back, right there on the goal line." In this Erik is explaining to his mom the death
of Mike Costello, this is the first time the reader can really see Eriks true colors and the monster that
he is. This sets up many events that happen in the future, one major event that happens becauses of
this is Paul telling on the Tangerine Middle soccer players for breaking a carnival attraction. Another
thing that happens because of this is Arthur getting his dream to be a starter. When Arthur becomes a
starter he also becomes loyal to Erik and kills someone for him. Not only did weather affect the plot,
but huge natural disasters also affects the plot. On page 81, it says, "I looked and saw the entire

In Tangerine character change is a major driving factor of the story, and is a part of the theme. On
page 284, Paul says, "I saw– I heard Erik Fisher tell him to do it." Paul's entire life he has been
running and hiding from Erik scared to face him. In the beginning of the book Paul knows all of
these terrible things that Erik has done and he never tells anybody not even his parents. He then
changes entirely after listening to Antoine's speech about coming out from under the bleachers. Then
Paul is able to link his brother to a murder and get him arrested, this the huge change shows he

Descriptive Essay On Weather
The winds outside howled as I played a board game with a friend at school. The rain battered the
windows of the cafeteria, and I assumed that this was just an ordinary storm. Well, I was wrong. My
thoughts about the weather would be forever altered, and I found out just how stunningly frightening
severe weather can be.
It was just another ordinary day of 5th grade. It was cloudy outside, and we had heard about the
severe weather that might come on the news. We just shooed the precautions away and forgot about
it. That is, until it started storming. Bad idea. I was at my before school program, JCPRD. I sat with
Anna, my best friend, peering out of the large, blue–tinted windows at the enraged clouds outside.
They gushed rain and radiated lightning, illuminating our nervous faces. We were starting to get
concerned. The distant, eerie roars of thunder filled our ears as the sheets of rain spilled from the
roof and lashed the building. This seemed bad, but the situation only grew worse. My heart started
to thud faster and louder as I walked to my classroom. The winds were whooshing louder and
louder, and the thunder was growing more and more rapid.
"Good morning class," My teacher, Mr. Whalen, said as we all walked in. "Today a severe weather
threat has been issued, so be ready if we have to go to a tornado shelter room."
The only reason I liked tornado drills was that we sometimes got to go in the teacher lounge. Other
times, we had to go into the bathroom, which I hated. I

Description of Weather/Climate
So our weather in Iowa has patterns because we have seasons. Our seasons are Winter, Spring,
Summer and Fall. They have a pattern on when they change Winter starts December 22nd, Spring
starts March 22nd, Summer starts June 22nd and Fall starts September 22nd and then the pattern
starts all over again. It depends on what season you are in to determine how cold/hot it will be
outside and how much rain/snow it will get. The seasons change because when the earth is closest to
the sun that is when we have our fall and winter because even tho we are at our closest to the sun
our earth is tilted farther away from the it and that is why it gets colder. But when it is summer and
spring we are further away from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An abiotic factor at the Katoski Park is the temperature, weather and climate. The abiotic factor
affects the biotic and flora because since abiotic is weather and nonliving things but biotic is living
things. A biotic factor is living things so is just the opposite of abiotic. Examples of this would be
animals, humans, plants etc. anything that is living. We have animals that hibernate in the Winter
because they can't survive in the temperature that winter provides for them so they have to
hibernate. But like an example polar bears can't live in Iowa even though in Iowa we have winter
and it is really cold but the polar bear can't live here because it is not cold enough here and it would
die.
Ecosystem The ecosystem that the Katoski Park has is a temperate grassland, temperate woodland,
and a temperate forest. Temperate grassland means grassland that is covered in thick grass.
Here is and example right from the Katoski Park of what a temperate grassland would look like at
the park.
Temperate woodland means less annual rainfall in the summer and is hot in humid but has more
rainfall in the fall.
This is another example of what a temperate woodland would look like in Katoski Park. This picture
was taken right out of Katoski Park.
Temperate forest means broad leaved deciduous trees. The system for this is always changing
because we have different seasons (fall, winter, spring, summer) and in

The Characteristics And Differences Between Weather And...
People often confuse between climate and weather– the two really are quite different. Weather
describes the atmospheric condition over a short period of time that is from day to day or week to
week. While climate describes average conditions over a long period of time. Step out and you
experience many facets of weather. Air temperature and pressure, humidity, wind speed and
direction, cloud type and cover and the amount and form of precipitation are all the characteristics
of the momentary conditions we call weather.
The sun is ultimately responsible for the weather. The rays from sun are absorbed differently by land
and water surfaces, equal amounts of solar radiation heat the ground more quickly than they do
water. Differential warming in turn causes variations in the temperature and pressure of the
overlying masses of air.
As the air mass warms, it rises higher and become lighter into the atmosphere. As the air mass ...

These zones are generally found on the east shoreline of the mainlands and are frequently subject to
sea tempests in the fall and in pre–fall. The south–eastern part of the United States and large areas of
china are the best examples of this kind. Here winter seasons are mild to cool based on latitude. This
is the suitable climate for raising crops especially rice.
8. Humid Continental
A great variety in precipitation and temperature characterize this climate and is usually found in
Northern Hemisphere continent's mid–latitude interiors. For example, Manitoba in Canada,
Winnipeg are located deep in the North American continent which has a humid continental climate.
Air masses are chilled by the Arctic ice and snow flow south over these areas and frequently collide
with tropical air masses that are causing change in weather conditions. Usually these areas
experience four seasons and the length of each season is determined by the latitude of the particular
region.

Burial Rites Landscape and Weather
How does Hannah Kent make the landscape and weather an integral part of the novel?
Amidst the journey of the last woman executed in Iceland is the 'nature [that] is watchful of all of
us.' Kent parallels the protagonist Agnes' story alongside the force of the harsh Icelandic climate and
country that 'is as awake as you and I' and often determines key events in the novel. The ominous
foreshadowing of death represented in elements of the landscape highlights how the country is an
essential aspect of the novel, often adding to the dramatic effect. Agnes' road to spiritual redemption,
both religion based and personal, is greatly influenced by the natural occurrences of the country.

Agnes's spiritual 'atonement', helping to 'guide her home' is regularly influenced by the state of the
weather and natural occurrences on the landscape. Agnes is offered two experiences of redemption
in the novel. One being predominately religious, aided by reverend Toti and the other being sense of
belonging and acceptance to a family. In this heavily Christian society, Agnes is given a 'spiritual
advisor,' who takes on the responsibility to 'save her.' As Agnes' begins to confide in Toti and learn
to rely on him the weather gradually becomes increasingly 'miserable' rendering it difficult for the
two to meet. At the climax of the novel, 'travelling to Kornsa in this unfit weather' has resulted in
Toti's 'fever' leaving Agnes 'scared' and deprived of her confidant. Despite Toti representing her
divine redemption, the two form an alliance stemming from predominately companionship,
demonstrated when Toti 'forgot' his New Testament at home when going to meet Agnes.
Additionally, Agnes is emotionally redeemed when experiencing a sense of belonging at Korsna.
Amidst the natural process of childbirth occurring in the landscape Agnes aids the 'newborn' by
recognizing it is in 'breach.' This

Examples Of Weather In The Great Gatsby
"Weather is just weather. It's never just rain" (44). If a setting in a story involves rain it's not because
outside was hot and all the water evaporated into the clouds and couldn't hold anymore so it started
to pour. I mean who would ever think of such a thing? Usually when a story contains raining it can
mean the character is being "purified" or transformed. However with rain comes mud, which can
cause the character to be more tainted then before. Rain is also associated with spring, which is a
period of rebuilding and all the more imperatively, trust. Mist can include the wretchedness element,
additionally disarray among characters and circumstances. Snow is generally as critical and negating
as downpour. It can be spotless, welcoming, lively, or even warm (like a protecting
blanket). However it can likewise be stark, serious, cold choking, and even grimy. The Great Gatsby,
by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby and Daisy's get–together starts amidst a deluge which ... Show more

A demonstration of brutality changes from reality to writing. On the off chance that you were
punched in the arm by somebody, it is likely a demonstration of animosity, though in writing, it
could be an illustration for something else. Fundamental "situational" viciousness is any sort of
brutality in which there is a blameworthy gathering. Regardless of the fact that it is not an
immediate gathering, there is still somebody/something to fault. Example: Harry Potter. Voldemort
has executed Harry's guardians yet has saved Harry his life all the while. This is symbolic as it
demonstrates Voldemort's control over Harry. This speaks to the first kind of "situational" violence,
in which Voldemort is the blame party and settles on the official choice to execute them. If his
mother and father kicked the bucket, activity was added to the plot, plot intricacies were made, and

Weather Anomalies When dealing with weather, one must recognize weather anomalies. Weather
conditions in many regions of the country still hold their expected atmospheric conditions trough
one year, but for several areas these stations are fluctuating. These irregularities, for many
circumstances arrive in form of extreme heat, or long summers or perhaps extreme winter weather
conditions. Before moving any further, when this project refers to extreme, it means something out
of the ordinary, something not expected, or perhaps something that causes damages to living
conditions or society in general. Some of these variations in normal weather patterns, society has
learned to prepare for, but when these changes come in unusual patterns, they can cause severe
damage. This project will focus on explaining and analyzing one particular weather condition,
hurricanes. Hurricanes have the power and energy to cause a lot of damage across the ... Show more

the way society views weather in general. One must also touch on how these differences affect many
other aspects of life and Earth. Variations to global weather and climate can affect life across the

Dispatch Weather
In the aviaiton industry weather is one of the most important subjects. When the weather changes,
there are changes in the conditions of a flight as well. Since weather changes so often, every flight is
different. Changes in weather can happen during flights as well as between them. Both dispatchers
and pilots have to be ready to deal with various changes in weather conditions and have a plan.
Having a good understanding of weather is very important for a dispatcher. Even the aircraft's
performance changes depending on what kind of weather conditions are expected. If an aircraft will

It shows cloud cover visibility and precipitation at different stations. * The Radar Summary Chart is
issued hourly, and shows radar precipitation echoes, and areas of possible precipitations. The
Constant Pressure Charts is issued twice a day and valid for 12 hours. Comes in a graphical format
and shows location of high and low pressure systems, and winds aloft. Charts cover different flight
level from 5000 to 39000 feet. Finally, the Winds Aloft Chart issued 3 times a day comes in a textual
format, shows wind speed, direction, and temperature.
All of these charts and weather reporting data give a dispatcher many ways to view the weather is
order to plan a flight and of what weather can be expected at different phases of flight. But just
being able to read the charts and tell what kind of weather will the flight encounter is not enough to
be able to make good decisions on a flight plan. Dispatcher and pilots also have to be aware of what
the different weather conditions have on an airplane and what changes can become of the given
weather. When a dispatcher starts a flight plan any number of possibilities must be planned for such
as engine failures and diversions into alternate airports which must be planned for. If the weather at
the departure airport is below landing minimums an alternate plan of action has to be made, in case
plane has to return. There are rules for how far can a

although bipolar in its weather patterns, has become a very popular tourist destination and

Virginia, and the eastern West Virginia panhandle, plus the District of Columbia and the city of
Baltimore. NOAA or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has a total of 122 field

way more advanced now. The radiosonde is a small instrument package that weighs 250 to 500

Weather And Extreme Weather
UNIT SUMMARY
Since the time of their early existence, humans have migrated to regions of the Earth that offer
climates favorable to their survival and have planned to persevere extreme weather events. In this
unit, students will observe models and analyze data to learn how the interplay between atmospheric
variables such as temperature, air pressure, and moisture leads to the typical and sometimes extreme
weather events that humans' experience. Analyzing weather data to make predictions is a key part of
this unit and students' understanding of how weather patterns can help us predict future weather
events. This unit aims at explaining how Earth's tilt, along with its changing position around the Sun
causes variation in the amount of incoming solar radiation (insolation) that reaches the surface. This
unequal distribution of energy causes variations in seasons we experience on Earth. Students also
will learn that climate is influenced by latitude, proximity to large bodies of water, ocean currents,
among other factors.

A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace
1. What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before delving
into its dangers. Layman's terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits the visibility
at ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may prevent you from
locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms when the difference
between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 °F. Fog begins to form when water
vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air, usually also clinging to
pollutants or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water vapor is added to the air by:
wind convergence into areas of upward direction, precipitation, daytime heating which evaporates
water from the surface of large bodies of water, oceans or wetlands; transpiration from plants, cool
or dry air moving over warmer water, and lifting air over mountains. Think of fog as a lower
rendition of the cloud form stratus; meaning it is a lower deck that occurs when a cool air mass is
confined under a warm air mass. 2. Different types of fogs? Foggiest place in the United States? Fog
can form in many ways dependent on what caused the cooling and how the condensation occurred.
The most common form of fog, Radiation fog, is fashioned by the cooling of terrain after sun down
by thermal radiation when wind conditions are relatively calm and cloud cover is at a minimum. The
cooling ground produces

The Great Gatsby Weather Analysis

  • 1. The Great Gatsby Weather Analysis In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the weather sets a mood or follows the emotion of the novel. Many people Change their mood in certain weather conditions, and in this novel, the weather is symbolic of the mood in the novel. Fitzgerald uses the rainy weather in this novel to symbolize several things. For example, on the day that Gatsby plans to meet with Daisy, it is raining before they meet. "The day agreed upon was pouring rain. At eleven o'clock a man in a raincoat dragging a lawn–mower tapped at my front door and said that Mr. Gatsby had sent him over to cut my grass." (Fitzgerald 88). In this situation, the rain represents an anxious and hopelessness mood. When Gatsby arrived at Nick's house, he begins to doubt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "The next day was broiling, almost the last, certainly the warmest, of the summer. As my train emerged from the tunnel into the sunlight, only the hot whistles of the National Biscuit Company broke the simmering hush at noon. The straw seats of the car hovered on the edge of combustion; the woman next to me perspired delicately for a while into her white shirtwaist and then, as her newspaper dampened under her fingers, lapsed despairingly into the deep heat with a desolate cry" (120–121). This symbolizes the upcoming conflict and foreshadows the climax of emotions that are to come, with the confrontation in the suite, Daisy's rejection, and Myrtle's death. The heat also shows the mix and confusion of emotions in Daisy, and Daisy recognizes that " '... it's so hot'... 'And everything's so confused'..." (125). This quote symbolizes Daisy and Gatsby's relationship. It is when the weather is at it's hottest that Gatsby's and Daisy's relationship reaches a climax. Also when Nick, Gatsby, Daisy, Jordan, and Tom are all sitting in the Plaza, the book describes the daytime to also be unbearably hot. " 'Oh, let's have fun,' she begged him. 'It's too hot to fuss.' He didn't answer" (126). This quote shows that as the weather progressively gets hotter so does the tempers of Gatsby and Tom. The heat, in this case, symbolizes the way that hatred between Daisy's husband and Gatsby ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Weather In A Thousand Splendid Suns Foster points out that the weather plays a critical role in a work of literature. Whether it be for plot development or for a democratic reason, rain, snow, or fog plays a significant role in literature. In general, rain can bring about enlightenment and restoration, and snow can bring abstract thought. What an author does with rain, snow, or fog in the novel can signify a change in character or parallel the atmosphere or what is happening in the novel. For much of A Thousand Splendid Suns, the characters must withstand a drought. However, when there was a snowfall during the winter of 1992, "[Laila] would retreat back to her room, sit on the bed, and watch the snow falling" (208). Instead of going outside to feel the snow, Laila remains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Global Warming : Extreme Weather Global Warming: Extreme Weather & Seasonal Mismatching Recent climate modeling results indicate that "extreme" weather events may become more common. Rising average temperatures produce a more variable climate system. Carbon dioxide from cars, industries and power plants trap heat near the earth 's surface. More heat means more energy. Adding more energy to the atmosphere creates the potential for more extremes. Climatologists say extreme weather events will become more common as our climate heats up. The gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants is known as Global Warming. The greenhouse effect is when the Earth 's atmosphere becomes thick with gases, such as Carbon dioxide, and substances which trap the sun 's radiation, making the Earth warmer. The extreme weather is leading to climate changes which are resulting in seasonal mismatching. The Earth 's seasons have shifted back in the calendar year, with the hottest and coldest days of the years now occurring almost two days earlier. Temperatures over land in the 100–year period between 1850 and 1950 showed a simple, natural pattern of variability, with the hottest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere landing around July 21. But from the mid–1950s onward (the period when global average temperatures began to rise), the hottest day came 1.7 days earlier. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Affects Of Weather On Deer Hunting Effects of Weather on Deer Hunting Every year the fall brings in one of the biggest sports, hunting. According to David Crook in his article How big is the Hunting Economy, there are about 13.7 million people or approximately six percent of the United States population that consider themselves to be hunters. When all of these people get up the morning of opening day there is one thing that affects the way that they hunt. Every avid hunter knows that they have to base their hunting style off of the weather. The different factors of the weather such as the temperature, wind speed, barometric pressure, and precipitation changes the way the deer move and can either make or break a deer hunter's season. The movement of a whitetail deer changes according to the weather. There are several different factors to consider when talking about the weather, but the one of the leading factors is the temperature. Some people believe that the colder it is outside, the better the hunting becomes. This is true until it gets so cold that the deer have to bed down and not move to stay warm. When the temperature begins to drop down to about 35 degrees Fahrenheit, the deer begin scrambling for food to prepare for winter and the rut. The rut is a deer's mating season. This has the deer at a constant movement and makes for prime hunting. When the temperature begins to change, the amount of movement of the deer begins to change also. If the temperature rises then the amount of a deer's movement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Climate Change And Weather Change Recently, climate change has been a major topic of discussion. As the world decides what actions should be taken to help with the changing climate, severe weather has increased over the past few years. Several factors has created a change in climate but there have been countless effects to Earth because of climate change and severe weather is one of those effects. "In fact, the first decade of this century (2001–2010) was the hottest decade recorded since reliable records began in the late 1800s" (Union of Concerned Scientist, n.d.). The Earth is not only stronger storms such as Hurricane Ivan, Super Typhoon Haiyan, Joplin, MO tornado and tornado super outbreaks, but there also have been severe droughts as well. Climate change is effecting extreme weather because the climate has been changing over the years causing the waters and Earth to become warmer, which is causing extreme weather to become stronger and more severe. Extreme weather can include storms and floods, temperature extremes, droughts and habitat shifting & alteration (The Open Standards, n.d.). According to The Open Standards, storms and floods includes thunderstorms, tropical storms, hurricanes and cyclones, tornadoes, hailstorms, ice storms and blizzards, dust storms and erosions of the beaches. Temperature extremes are heat waves, cold spells, oceanic temperature changes and disappearance of glaciers/sea ice. The Open Standards also states that droughts are severe lack of rain and loss of surface water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Flood and National Weather Service A flash flood is a rapid flooding of geomorphic low–lying areas – washes, rivers, dry lakes and basins. It may be caused by heavy rain associated with a storm, hurricane, or tropical storm or melt water from ice or snow flowing over ice sheets or snowfields. Flash floods can also occur after the collapse of a natural ice or debris dam, or a human structure such as a man–made dam, as occurred before the Johnstown Flood of 1889. Flash floods are distinguished from a regular flood by a timescale less than six hours. The temporary availability of water is often utilized by plants with rapid germination and short growth cycle, and by specially adapted animal life. Causes Flash flooding occurs when a barrier holding back water fails or when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The financial impact of the floods were manifested in a variety of ways: * The banking transactions across the counters were adversely affected and many branches and commercial establishments were unable to function from late evening of 26 July 2005. The state government declared the 27th (and later, 28th) of July as a public holiday. ATM networks of several banks, which included the State Bank of India, the nation's largest national bank; ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and several foreign banks like Citibank and HSBC, stopped functioning from the afternoon of 26 July 2005 at all the centers of Mumbai. ATM transactions could not be carried out in several parts of India on 26 July 2005 or 27 July 2005 due to failure of the connectivity with their central systems located in Mumbai. * The Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India, the premier stock exchanges of India could function only partially. • 25. The Importance Of Weather In Literature Angelina Blackwell AP Literature and Composition Mrs. Smith 9/20/17 Weather can influence many things in literature. It can influence the mood, plot, characters, & setting. Foster makes it very clear to us that an author will never put weather into a story with no reasoning behind it. Weather is not just simply a setting in literature. The author begins the chapter "It's More Than Just Rain or Snow" by explaining what mood the quote "It was a dark and stormy night" creates. He explains how weather is never placed in a story for no reason. Weather is a factor used to create a mood in the passage. "A sunny day with no clouds in sight..." will create a happy mood while the reader could be imagining themselves in the story being outside on a beautiful clear day with the sunshine hitting them just right. That could put anyone in a cheerful mood, right? If the author started a story with "The rain was beating down on the roof as I realized it had been my first night without him...". Now obviously if the character had just lost someone they would be sad but adding rain to the scene adds the effect of sadness and allows the reader jump in the book to feel what the character is feeling. When meeting characters in the beginning of novels, the author can add how they perceive weather to let the readers get a feel for how observing they are. If the character pays no mind to the weather the reader may see that had acted as ignorant. Chapter 10 elaborates on how weather can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Theme Of Weather In Catcher In The Rye We wake up everyday to different weather, either good or bad, however our emotions are depended upon it. One September day arose, rain was falling and so were my emotions. I felt sad for no reason, I should have felt happy because it was Saturday, but no matter what happened, I was down. In the Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger uses weather to exploit emotion. As rain approaches many people start to feel depressed, but also content. Holden explains why he believes people are crazy for leaving the cemetery just because of the rain. He starts to talk about what the scenery looks like, and how he feels. Holden states "It rained on his lousy tombstone, and it rained on the grass on his stomach. All the visitors that were visiting the cemetery started running like hell over their cars. That's what really drove me crazy" (172). Holden becomes sad as he sees everyone leave just because of the rain, he feels depressed that people would just leave their loved ones alone. Holden's emotions are depressing, but he will also show a sign of joy due to the weather. Holden changes to a happy state of mind as he sees the many parents hide under the carousel for cover. He talks about feeling happy as he views Phoebe going around and around on the carousel. He states "It began to rain like a bastard. All the parents and mothers and everybody went over and stood right under the roof of the carousel. I felt so damn happy all of the sudden, the way Phoebe was going around and around and around" (233). Holden will not let the rain change her happiness, he consumes happiness and feels like he may cry. Overall, rain has played a key role in showing emotion, but the snow seems to take a different turn on things. Salinger shows that the cold can pick up emotions to make people feel despondent and lonely. Holden describes a time in the city when he felt like he had vanished from life. He talks about crossing the road, but then everytime he would cross he would feel gone. He projects "It was kind of a crazy afternoon, terrifically cold, and no sun out or anything, you would feel like you were disappearing every time you crossed a road" (8). When Holden says he feels like he is disappearing, he is saying that his emotion is lonely and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Weather The Migration Hypothesis The reading and the lecture discuss weather the migration hypothesis is true for the edomontosaurs– the elephant like dinosaurs to prove the North Slope as their habitat. The lecturer puts forth three aspects, each of which has casts doubt on the three points presented in the reading passage. To begin with, the professor avers that at the time of the edomontosaurs the temperature in the North slopes was warmer than ours. She says that the warmer temperature helps to have good vegetation in summer. Even the dead plants were enough to feed the edomontosaurs in the North slopes during winter. Thus the edomontosaurs did not need to migrate to south– the warm place. This directly challenges the reading assertion that the food requirement for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Extreme Weather And Heat Waves The first article or website that I explored was titled Extreme weather. It begins by stating that as the world has warmed, it has triggered several other things in the earth's climate to be altered. It then goes further into depth specifically naming the factors that have been changing due to the altering of the climate. These factors include: heat waves, droughts, heavy downpours, floods, and lastly, hurricanes (Extreme Weather, 2014). Heat Waves In this section, a heat wave is referred to as "abnormally hot weather lasting days to weeks". It further goes on to say that the recent number of heat waves have been steadily increasing with numbers almost "triple the long–term average" (Extreme Weather, 2014). In this section it is claimed that the droughts in Texas in the year 2011, and in the Midwest in the year of 2012, that records were set for the highest monthly average temperatures to date (Extreme Weather, 2014). A picture of a map is provided of the coast–to–coast 100 degree days in 2011, in conclusion, it is observable that heat waves are on a steady increase. Droughts A drought is described as an event that happens due to a rise in temperatures that leads to an increased rate of evaporation, this even includes the loss of moisture through plant leaves (Extreme Weather, 2014). This section on droughts states that as the soil dries out due to the increase in heat, that it results in hotter soil and "adjacent air rather than evaporating its moisture" and that this ... • 41. Analyzing Anomalous Weather In recent years, scientists and the general public have become increasingly aware of climate change. Scientists have begun and continue to study historical and geologic records in order to determine natural patterns versus human–induced changes in climate. By studying historical data and recent impacts, scientists may be able to determine consequences people will face now and in the future. One of the potential consequences of the changing climate is an increase in anomalous weather events. By definition, an anomaly is an irregularity, or something that varies from the normal pattern or range. For the purpose of this study, anomalous weather refers to measured temperature and precipitation values which deviate from the normal range for weather in the area of interest. Extreme weather phenomena result in numerous instances of property damage, human displacement, and loss of human life in the United States and globally each year. In recent years, there seems to have been an increase in anomalous weather conditions, such as floods, droughts, severe storms, and high temperatures, among other types of events. Extreme weather episodes affect a range of sectors including agriculture, and food security, water, health, and tourism (Cooney, 2012). Some areas, such as developing countries, are more vulnerable than others due to lack of funds, planning, and infrastructure (Cooney, 2012). However, more needs to be done in all areas in order to prepare for the rising number of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Weather Forecast Research Paper Throughout this assignment I have learned that there are many things that go into making a weather forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low temperatures as well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of models to choose from for weather forecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on my atmospheric situation. Due to the fact that I live in Missouri I found it difficult to use some of the methods due to the fact that the weather is constantly changing. I originally thought I could use the Persistence Forecasting Model, but then I realized that the weather changes to often for it to be the same each day. It would have been a better option if we ... Most of the time it was pretty precise but it could have been better. Out of all the numerical models I chose to specifically use the North American Mesoscale model (NAM) because it was specific for my atmospheric situation. Despite using the models for forecasting, I learned you have to take into consideration the different surface features including the different types of fronts and pressure systems. Overall, I have learned that being a meteorologist is not the path for me. The different models of forecasting are all very different and often hard to read. Todays weather may not exactly match with weather of the same day in the privous year. The probability that the weather condition of the day in consideration will match the same day in previous year is very less. But the probability that it will match within the span of adjacent fortnight of previous year is very high.So we can take the adjacent fortnights weather report into consideration to predict the current day weather. To predict the future's weather condition, the variation in the conditions in past years must be utilized. Artificial neural network was combined with the genetic algorithm to get the more optimized prediction . An improved technique that uses artificial neural network with photovoltaic system was proposed by Isa et al.that utilizes perceptron model with Levenberg Marquardt algorithm. Apart from neural network Fuzzy logic has also been being used in weather prediction models. The rainfall was classified into three fuzzy sets which can be predicted by making use of simple fuzzy rules . Also a fuzzy self–regression model was proposed by Lu Feng and Xu xiao Guang which makes use of the form of self–related sequence number according to observed number. The self– related coefficients were computed by making use of Fuzzy Logic . A combined approach of neural network with Fuzzy Logic is being proposed for the weather prediction system. The work has applied principle component analysis technique to the fuzzy data by making use of Autoassociative neural networks. But the main problem with the methods discussed above is most of they don't provide any mathematicalrelationship between different parameters. Data not been being mathematically described and analyzed. But a mathematical model that could represent the relationship among previous data that could be used for prediction is still desired. A new sliding window approach for the same is being proposed in this text for weather prediction. History of Weather Forecasting: Weather forecasting is the application of science and ... • 53. Hurricane Katrina And Weather Similarities One of the most consistently dealt with factors in daily life is weather. Weather could just be the temperature, rain, snow, clouds, or it could be far more severe. When talking about weather it is important to remember that severe weather such as hurricanes is also a part of the equation. Hurricanes can garner a large amount of media coverage, along with a lot of attention from the general public, depending on how severe the hurricane is. A hurricane has the potential to cause a substantial amount of damage, cost an unfortunate amount of money, and even take lives depending on the size of it. Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Irma are two hurricanes that did end up endangering the most lives, causing some of the most damage, and costing some of the most money. Although these hurricanes took place at different times and in different places, it is still possible, and important even, to compare these two major weather events. In order to compare these two events, it is necessary to first know some of the basic facts of each of them. Hurricane Irma took was recorded outside the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Hurricane Katrina was also recorded hitting the Gulf Coast, but on a different path. Katrina ended up hitting the New Orleans area with a lot of strength while Irma's path was more so set on the Caribbean islands and Florida. "On September 6, Hurricane Irma left a string of small Caribbean islands devastated" ("Hurricane Irma"). Irma would then make its way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, modern day humans have developed a habit of checking the daily weather update, and they use this information for planning their day activities. Citing the recent weather disasters, such as the Tsunami, and Hurricane Katrina, weather patterns have become an integral part of the modern day living. According to a study by Horanont, Phithakkitnukoon and Leong, particular weather conditions influence human activities when contrasted with people's normal activity patterns. Further, these activities were noticeable at different time intervals of the day (e81153). Consequently, the weather has an effect on how people feel and act. According to Horanont, Phithakkitnukoon and Leong, cold, rainy, and windy weather conditions influenced human activities significantly (e81153). The green light represents Gatsby's dreams he haves for his future and having Daisy is one of them, so when the mist/fog is dividing his house and Daisy's house the readers will probably think that it represents that because Daisy is with him, Gatsby reached his green light. Thomas Foster stated, "Fog, for instance. It almost always signals some sort of confusion"(Fos), and with that being said the mist covering the green light at the end of Daisy's dock represents confusion within Gatsby because even though Daisy is next to him at the time, he knows that she is still not truly his. Furthermore, the big conflict, the climax happens on one of the hottest days the characters experienced in the novel and there is a purpose for that. "The heat oppressive, the sun destructive" (Fos), said Thomas Foster. On the day that Gatsby and Daisy where going to tell Tom that they wanted to be together, that's when Daisy started to complaining and saying that "it's so hot"(Fit) on "the verge of tears"(Fit) and that they shall all go to town, they got in ... • 69. Weather In Purple Hibiscus Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novel, Purple Hibiscus, is an unconventional coming of age novel, set in postcolonial Nigeria. Kambili, a teenage Igbo girl, lives with her brother Jaja, mother and her wealthy, religious zealot father, who abuses the family in the name of Catholicism. Kambili sees her life as the norm, however her paradigm completely changes when she and Jaja go to spend a week at her Aunty Ifeoma's house; and the freedom they experience creates a staggering rift within their family. It addresses various themes and motifs, including religion, domestic abuse, silence, and political strife. However, one of the more underrated themes in the book is the imagery of nature; the text is littered with vivid imagery and analogies connecting the characters with this theme. Weather is one aspect of nature that becomes prevalent, and gives the events in the book a deeper and more subtle meaning that goes missed by most. Adichie uses the weather as a symbolic undertone to illustrate the emotional shift of Kambili between her life in Engu and her newfound freedom in Nsukka. Weather is a symbol of nature that is the most blatant reflection of the Achikes' lives, and yet is the most subtle in illustrating how it evolves. The second chapter of the book opens with a normal day in the life of Kambili: she is doing her homework when Mama comes into her room, with Kambili's uniforms in hand, fresh off of the clothesline outside. Kambili is confused, because cleaning Kambili ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As he says this, he also explains how rain carries a deeper meaning when it is presented in a setting, and that is the same for fog, lightning, and sunshine. In Frankenstein, weather promotes a deeper meaning when Victor's brother dies. Victor exclaims, "William, dear angel! This is thy funeral, this thy dirge...a flash of lightning illuminated the object, and discovered its shape plainly to me: its gigantic stature, and the deformity of its aspect, more hideous than belongs to humanity," (Shelley, 77). Scott Fitzgerald demonstrates many themes, one is that relationships have their ups and downs and are always changing. This theme is represented in the novel by different reoccurring motifs. The motif that best describes the theme of changing relationship statutes would be weather. Weather in The Great Gatsby shows how the emotions change with each scene in the book. For example, when the sun comes out on a rainy day when Jay and Daisy meet again, also when things get heated between Tom and Gatsby when they go into town for the evening. • 81. Weather And Weather In Albert Camus's The Stranger As Thomas C. Foster states in his book How to Read Literature Like a Professor, if a reader is analyzing a work, "one does well to remember, as one starts reading a poem or story, to check the weather" (Foster 75). If there's one element of a literary work that can easily affect a scene, it is the weather. Weather in literature can vary greatly from rain to snow to hail to fog and onwards. There is one type of weather, however, that is prominently featured within Albert Camus' novel The Stranger, and that is hot, sunny weather. The novel's protagonist Meursault frequently makes remarks of the weather surrounding him, from the blazing sun at his mother's funeral to the blinding light on a beach in Algiers where he shoots a man dead. If connected, the reader can understand that the weather is simply not there to set the scene –– it is there to affect Meursault's feelings and actions in the moment. The first major example is on the march to his mother's funeral, where Meursault frequently decides to take in the scenery, rather than the death of his mother. Rather than mourn her, he to describe that he might understand his mother more by the seeing the beautiful scenery and the cypress trees. This is simply pushed out of the way when he notices the area his mother lived in "with the sun bearing down, making the whole landscape shimmer with heat, was inhuman and oppressive" (Camus 15). He, despite the tragedy in his life, focuses more on his physical need to cool off, the fact that the sun was "making it hard for [him] to see or think straight" (Camus 17), and focusing on what is currently in front of him. Then the second major example is the shooting on the beach, where Meursault ultimately kills an Arab. As Meursault contemplates shooting the Arab harassing Raymond, the sun is described as a force on the protagonist. Watching the man lay on the beach, he describes the sun–influenced beach "pressing on [his] back" (Camus 58) and how the burning "made [him] move forward" (Camus 59). Although he displays only detached emotion, the sun literally and metaphorically makes Meursault hot–headed and impulsive, describing how under the sun "[his] forehead especially was hurting [him], all the veins throbbing under the ... • 85. The Weather In Tangerine By Edward Bloor When it comes to literature, weather can be used in many different ways. It can symbolize theme, set the mood of the story, and even affect the plot. In Tangerine by Edward Bloor, the weather acts as a plot device and as a symbol. First and foremost, the weather both creates and resolves conflict. For instance, on page 51, Erik says, "There was a crack, a flash, and he went flying through the air." Due to the volatile weather, lightning strikes Mike, killing him instantly. Two other examples of this include the sinkhole, and, to an extent, Erik slipping during the football game. The sinkhole allows Paul a second chance at soccer, and kicks off the second part of the book. As for Erik's slip–up, although it's Antoine's fault, the mud was slippery ... Since winter temperatures have increased much faster than summer temperatures, it would seem to line up well with Americans preferences. On a county–by–county basis they found, using their WPI scale, that in the past 40 years the average mean WPI score has increased, meaning over time people are living in more and more preferable weather. Next, they calculated that approximately 80% of people live in counties where the weather has improved. (Egan and Mullin, 2016) Lastly, Mullin and Egan discuss the problems with the perceived comfort of Americans and how this comfort will change. Climate models show that the trend of smaller increases in summer temperatures, and higher increases in winter temperatures of the past 40 years will soon reverse. Using their WPI data and two separate scenarios for Americans future by 2099, they calculated how "pleasant" the weather will most likely be. In the first scenario they calculated in weather pleasantness if greenhouse house emissions are stabilized shortly after 2100, and found that approximately 71% of American counties would experience a decrease in WPI score. In the second scenario they calculated if greenhouse emissions were left unabated by 2100, and found that approximately 88% of American counties would likely experience a decrease in WPI score. • 93. Theme Of Weather In The Great Gatsby Many great books use many different natural occurrences or things to symbolize themes, moods, a meaning of the book, etc. The Great Gatsby is no exception, Fitzgerald uses many different methods to blend the story into what it is, but one thing that he uses that might slip through the reader's mind is weather. Fitzgerald uses weather throughout the book to set/show the mood of the chapter/scene. Right from the start, Fitzgerald uses weather to set the tone for Nick. "And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer"(Fitzgerald 4). Nick had just moved to the East, looking to start a new life. It represents his high hopes that he has for his life ahead. He states earlier that he was restless after the war, so he is very eager to achieve these goals he has in mind. It also represents the coming changes in his life. Summer starts to come around right as he goes to Daisy's house, something that will affect his life for years to come. It is no accident that summer comes right as his life is about to change. Fitzgerald also uses a lot of weather to set the emotional tone when Gatsby reunites with Daisy. He uses the rain in chapter five to represent the nervousness of Gatsby. "With his hands still in his coat pockets he stalked by me into the hall, turned sharply as if he were on a wire, and disappeared into the living–room. It wasn't a bit funny. Aware of the loud beating of my own heart I pulled the door to against the increasing rain"(86). A little earlier in the chapter, Gatsby also says that the rain is supposed to stop at four. Almost as if he this trying to tell himself that he will stop being nervous once Daisy shows up, but contrary to that, the rain intensifies, and so does Gatsby's signs of being nervous. But later in the chapter, Nick says that the sun starts to shine again, and he mentions, "While the rain continued it had seemed like the murmur of their voices, rising and swelling a little now and then with gusts of emotion"(88–89). In this part, Fitzgerald blatantly uses the rain to describe that Gatsby was nervous. It is basically saying that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Tangerine weather and natural disasters affect and change the plot and characters. On page 50, Erik says, "He was just standing there in the end zone. He had one hand on the goalpost, leaning on it, and kaboom! There was a crack, and a flash, and he went flying through the air. He landed right on his back, right there on the goal line." • 105. Descriptive Essay On Weather The winds outside howled as I played a board game with a friend at school. The rain battered the windows of the cafeteria, and I assumed that this was just an ordinary storm. Well, I was wrong. My thoughts about the weather would be forever altered, and I found out just how stunningly frightening severe weather can be. It was just another ordinary day of 5th grade. It was cloudy outside, and we had heard about the severe weather that might come on the news. We just shooed the precautions away and forgot about it. That is, until it started storming. Bad idea. I was at my before school program, JCPRD. I sat with Anna, my best friend, peering out of the large, blue–tinted windows at the enraged clouds outside. They gushed rain and radiated lightning, illuminating our nervous faces. We were starting to get concerned. The distant, eerie roars of thunder filled our ears as the sheets of rain spilled from the roof and lashed the building. This seemed bad, but the situation only grew worse. My heart started to thud faster and louder as I walked to my classroom. The winds were whooshing louder and louder, and the thunder was growing more and more rapid. "Good morning class," My teacher, Mr. Whalen, said as we all walked in. "Today a severe weather threat has been issued, so be ready if we have to go to a tornado shelter room." The only reason I liked tornado drills was that we sometimes got to go in the teacher lounge. Other times, we had to go into the bathroom, which I hated. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have a pattern on when they change Winter starts December 22nd, Spring starts March 22nd, Summer starts June 22nd and Fall starts September 22nd and then the pattern starts all over again. It depends on what season you are in to determine how cold/hot it will be outside and how much rain/snow it will get. The seasons change because when the earth is closest to the sun that is when we have our fall and winter because even tho we are at our closest to the sun our earth is tilted farther away from the it and that is why it gets colder. The abiotic factor affects the biotic and flora because since abiotic is weather and nonliving things but biotic is living things. A biotic factor is living things so is just the opposite of abiotic. Examples of this would be animals, humans, plants etc. anything that is living. We have animals that hibernate in the Winter because they can't survive in the temperature that winter provides for them so they have to hibernate. But like an example polar bears can't live in Iowa even though in Iowa we have winter and it is really cold but the polar bear can't live here because it is not cold enough here and it would die. Ecosystem The ecosystem that the Katoski Park has is a temperate grassland, temperate woodland, and a temperate forest. Temperate grassland means grassland that is covered in thick grass. Here is and example right from the Katoski Park of what a temperate grassland would look like at the park. Temperate woodland means less annual rainfall in the summer and is hot in humid but has more rainfall in the fall. This is another example of what a temperate woodland would look like in Katoski Park. This picture was taken right out of Katoski Park. Temperate forest means broad leaved deciduous trees. • 113. The Characteristics And Differences Between Weather And... People often confuse between climate and weather– the two really are quite different. Weather describes the atmospheric condition over a short period of time that is from day to day or week to week. While climate describes average conditions over a long period of time. Step out and you experience many facets of weather. Air temperature and pressure, humidity, wind speed and direction, cloud type and cover and the amount and form of precipitation are all the characteristics of the momentary conditions we call weather. The sun is ultimately responsible for the weather. The rays from sun are absorbed differently by land and water surfaces, equal amounts of solar radiation heat the ground more quickly than they do water. Differential warming in turn causes variations in the temperature and pressure of the overlying masses of air. As the air mass warms, it rises higher and become lighter into the atmosphere. This is the suitable climate for raising crops especially rice. 8. Humid Continental A great variety in precipitation and temperature characterize this climate and is usually found in Northern Hemisphere continent's mid–latitude interiors. For example, Manitoba in Canada, Winnipeg are located deep in the North American continent which has a humid continental climate. Air masses are chilled by the Arctic ice and snow flow south over these areas and frequently collide with tropical air masses that are causing change in weather conditions. Usually these areas experience four seasons and the length of each season is determined by the latitude of the particular region. 9. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If a setting in a story involves rain it's not because outside was hot and all the water evaporated into the clouds and couldn't hold anymore so it started to pour. Weather And Extreme Weather UNIT SUMMARY Since the time of their early existence, humans have migrated to regions of the Earth that offer climates favorable to their survival and have planned to persevere extreme weather events. In this unit, students will observe models and analyze data to learn how the interplay between atmospheric variables such as temperature, air pressure, and moisture leads to the typical and sometimes extreme weather events that humans' experience. Analyzing weather data to make predictions is a key part of this unit and students' understanding of how weather patterns can help us predict future weather events. This unit aims at explaining how Earth's tilt, along with its changing position around the Sun causes variation in the amount of incoming solar radiation (insolation) that reaches the surface. This unequal distribution of energy causes variations in seasons we experience on Earth. Students also will learn that climate is influenced by latitude, proximity to large bodies of water, ocean currents, among other factors. But since the government passed a law that we have to get a precipitation for medicated feed will make us try to get a precipitation but that only over 6 months. We add vita–ferm sure champ to help keep the stress down and use vita–ferm heat mineral which helps keep the flies away and keeps their body temperature down. That has helped our show cattle last year. So if one is eating well, we will have to call the vet to give us a precipitation that will have the amount of dosage to give them and the withdrawal period for the medication. The weather can have a major impact on cattle. With the goal the I want to have to increase the cattle operation that we have will be decided by the weather. I will have to make sure we are financially good and we can have that many cattle. I will make sure that cows have easy access to water and have to check on them. But with the weather so different here I will make sure they are easy to get to. Being financially ready will make sure we have enough money for if something would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 149. A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace 1. What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before delving into its dangers. Layman's terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits the visibility at ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may prevent you from locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms when the difference between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 °F. Fog begins to form when water vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air, usually also clinging to pollutants or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water vapor is added to the air by: wind convergence into areas of upward direction, precipitation, daytime heating which evaporates water from the surface of large bodies of water, oceans or wetlands; transpiration from plants, cool or dry air moving over warmer water, and lifting air over mountains. Think of fog as a lower rendition of the cloud form stratus; meaning it is a lower deck that occurs when a cool air mass is confined under a warm air mass. 2. Different types of fogs? Foggiest place in the United States? Fog can form in many ways dependent on what caused the cooling and how the condensation occurred. The most common form of fog, Radiation fog, is fashioned by the cooling of terrain after sun down by thermal radiation when wind conditions are relatively calm and cloud cover is at a minimum. The cooling ground produces ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
