The Food Of Organic Foods
Shopping for groceries can be unhealthy and possibly even toxic if one does not know that much
about the foods they are buying. Too many people put aside the fact that we may be harming our
bodies from all of the toxins from non–organic foods we are eating or drinking every day. Finding
out the truth of all the non–organic foods people have been giving their family versus the organic
foods they should be giving their families, will have some people thinking twice about whether or
not they should buy an organic product. There are many reasons why people should educate
themselves with all the information regarding the benefits eating organically. Everyone around the
world should embrace the availability of organic, naturally grown foods to help introduce a healthier
lifestyle, prevent diseases, and help decrease environmental pollution. To start, organic foods have a
more nutritional value that leads to a healthier lifestyle. For instance, many of the organic foods
have been found to be higher in vitamin C, antioxidants, and natural minerals like calcium, iron,
chromium and magnesium. Most of these nutrients are the main components of a human's nutrition.
Non–organic foods could be causing certain foods to become less nutritional for a person eating.
The less nutrition a person has, the more they are at risk to end up having health problems. This
information that is being found in organic foods shows just how much they can be for a person,
rather than non–organic foods.

Advantages Of Organic Food
Why is it that organic foods are more costly than conventional foods, financially or health–wise?
Consumers should not be charged a higher price for organically grown foods in order to eat
healthier. Choosing to eat foods whether organic or conventional should be equal in cost to the
consumer. I won't go in the direction of the whole paleo caveman thing but when you think about
early man or our ancestors consuming foods in its pure, natural, organic state without concern of
ingesting potentially harmful chemicals' or excessive costs, don't you wonder where things went
awry? Prior to the Twentieth Century all food was organic. "Organic" in terms of food, simply
means that the product or its ingredients were produced without routine inputs of synthetic
fertilizers, pesticides, chemical preservatives or irradiated (radiation exposure) (5). Then along came
the discovery and invention of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides in 1920's forever changing the
costs, development and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Read the labels and research their source. Consumers may be aware there is a choice between
organic foods and conventional foods but they may not realize exactly what this entails. For
instance, facts such as the government having an established limit for safe amount of pesticides and
allowed residues used in foods growth process or the USDA's food safety warning that organic
foods' lack of preservatives may make them vulnerable to bacteria and parasites. The question of
whether organic foods are healthier for you than conventional foods is yet to be determined as there
have not yet been sufficient scientific studies to prove this one way or another. In determining the
healthier alternative common sense should come into play. Organic foods are relatively free of
herbicides and pesticides which are dangerous to human health, whereas conventional foods are not.
Therefore wouldn't it be logical to avoid these

In 1980, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) took an interest in organic farming, publishing
a report titled Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. As organic foods have been
growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about whether or not organic
foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic foods they are having
arguments stating that organic food is not what they say on the labels. Although people think that
organic food is not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with their health and provides a
healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of organic food buying behaviors
of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on many studies that is the case. Organic foods are preserved through a lot of different
procedures.
According to Chhabra's article it agrees with the fact organic food is good for you anf makes you
healthier by stating "Organic farming aims to preserve soil and ecosystem health by forgoing heavy
use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. In addition to these potential beneficial effects on the
environment, consumers are attracted to organic foodstuff because of the claimed positive health
effects, presumably due to the absence of pesticides or artificial hormones." . There can be a
proposition found in that article that organic farming can be used to help people with there health
issues. It also talks about in Chhabra's article that it helps with curing the development of cancer. By
having organic foods possibly help with not letting cancer destroy your life's wouldn't you want to
have those foods in your body. There have been a lot of reason why organic foods have been good
for our bodies. There aren't that many negative things to be presented about organic foods.
There are a lot of arguments for the other side of my argument. Many people believe that organic
foods are way to expensive and aren't doing what people say they do. The argument that
Hamerschlag says states "Academics Review accuses organic companies of "paid advocacy" in

Organically grown foods are not new to the world, they have been around since Native Americans
lived on the land. Most people do not buy organic goods because of the cost and fear that the foods
have been contaminated with different types of disease insects carry. Some do not even know what
organic foods are; organic foods are foods produced by organic farming. "while the standards differ
worldwide, organic farming in general features cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that
foster recycling of resources, promote ecological balance a conserve biodiversity" (Arnett, 1). The
U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates the organic food and make sure it is clean enough
for human consumption. Different health organizations around the country try to encourage people
to add organic to their diet. Conventional food chemicals are polluting the soil and finding their way
into people's water systems and slowly destroying their bodies. The destruction finds its way
through the consumption of the food or the chemicals in the water. Despite the cost difference,
organically grown foods are better than non–organic foods because they are healthier for human
consumption, are more sustainable for the environment, and support the local food movement. All
over the world people are making the switch to organic because it is a better choice for one's health.
Some people may not even know what organic grown food is. Organic is a substance that is grown

Conventional Food Vs Organic Food
Throughout history the way food is produced has changed drastically. There are several options an
individual can obtain regarding the food bought. Consumers nowadays are unaware of the different
ways the food they buy, whether it be grocery stores or farmers markets, have different
classifications when produced. There are several different factors which come into play when
buying food and its factors that affect the body. Most food produced has genetically modified
elements which harm the human body over time. One of the options a person can change their
lifestyle to open the possibilities of greater food factors is switching from conventional food to
organic food, but what is organic? The USDA identifies organic food as, "integratecultural,
biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance,
and conserve biodiversity". Conventional food has ruled the market for years leading consumers to
believe it is their only option, but organic food is gaining grand popularity due to the way it is
produced, the fact in which it is GMO–free, and its overall greater health benefits in the human
system. The organic food production market has become increasingly appealing to consumers
because of the process in which it is produced. Unlike conventional food, organic food has greater
production values and standards, which is why it is known to be fresher. Organic food has several
factors which come into play in the production area and their

Organic And Non Organic Foods
In a recent study done by Organic Farming Research Company, there are approximately 13,000
organic farms throughout the United States out of 2.1 million farms. In recent years more people are
converting to buying strictly organic foods, but why? Steven Shapin answers this by writing "what
are you buying when you buy organic?" In his article he explains the difference between organic
foods and non–organic. People are becoming aware of the dangers and risk of non–organic produce
and food and converting to strictly organic foods. Organic and non–organic foods can be compared
by price, calories, how the produce is grown and even packaging. Location in the store is also a
factor that can come into play. Prices in stores are very competitive and people typically go for
"name brand" foods. Although, prices are competitive they still vary by brand name, size, and
quantity. Organic foods are typically more expensive because of more labor required to grow the
produce, organic certification cost, etc. "Many smalls farms can be certified for approximately $750
the first year and between $375 and $575 in later years" (CCOF 1). Certification costs are
expensive, thus making the retail price of the produce higher. Many factors are contributed when
growing organic foods. In stores consumers will typically pay around $2.82 for a pound of non–
organic tomatoes compared to $4.05 per pound for organic tomatoes. In the case of non–organic red
peppers they generally go for $2.76 per pound

Outline/scope
"Organic agriculture includes all agricultural systems that promote the environmentally, socially and
economically sound production of foods and fibres. These systems take local soil fertility as a key to
successful production. By respecting the natural capacity of plants, animals and the landscape, it
aims to optimise quality in all aspects of agriculture and the environment. Organic agriculture
dramatically reduces external inputs by refraining from the use of chemo–synthetic fertilisers,
pesticides and pharmaceuticals. Instead it allows the powerful laws of nature to increase both
agricultural yields and disease resistance. Organic agriculture adheres to globally accepted
principles, which are implemented within local social–economic, geoclimatical and cultural
settings." (Logan, 2009) In simple terms organic farming is fresh foods that are grown without the

An introduction to organic foods
In spite of the increasing popularity of Organic food these days, most of the people do not have a
clear idea regarding the definition of organic food. In simple words, Organic foods are those foods
that are produced, processed and packaged without using chemicals. They have been accepted due
to their perceived health benefits over conventional food. The organic industry is growing rapidly
and has caught the attention of farmers, manufacturers and, above all, consumers. Some of the
popular organic food items include organic tea, organic coffee, organic wine, organic meat, organic
beef, organic milk, organic honey, organic vegetables, organic fruits, organic rice, organic corn,

The modern
Indian lifestyles and lifestyle–related diseases, as well as limited time to cook at home, are also
expected
to create demand for health and wellness products in the coming years. These factors, coupled with
environmental issues and growing resistance towards genetically modified food products, are
predicted to
accelerate growth in the organic food category.
Indian consumers currently spend a large portion of their income on food. Nearly 45 percent of
consumption expenditures go for food (51 percent in rural areas and 39 percent in urban areas). In
urban
areas, the consumption of processed and ready–to–eat (RTE) or convenience foods is higher due to
relatively higher disposable incomes, exposure to a greater variety of processed foods, a preference
for
quick meals, and familiarity with foreign foods or cuisines. Rural consumers tend to prefer
traditional
Indian foods prepared at home, but exposure to processed foods is increasing even in rural areas.
Demand for premium high–value foods such as chocolates, almonds and other dried nuts, cakes and
pastries, imported fruits, fruit juices, and Indian sweets peaks during the fall festive and wedding
seasons.
With the penetration of modern retailing in the suburbs and semi–urban areas, more and more
Indians
have access to retail shops carrying organic food products.

The last force is the strategy being used by creative and substantial rivals in the industry. Here, our
given produce market may be losing out to larger or more established retailers who take advantage
of innovation. To compete at the same level, we should encourage our business to maximize its
presence on social media sites as well as other areas of the Internet. These five forces, brought
together, may be used as a blueprint for a firm looking to increase its share of the current market. It
will undoubtedly need to utilize this information to make the most of its profit in the given sector.
Nevertheless, where larger organic markets like WF have seen declining sales figures, there are
more than enough other competing businesses to pick up the slack. In a move that signals bad news
for the smaller organic retailers in the area, Walmart has announced plans to begin offering its
version of organic produce in the next few years. This bad news comes about the same time as WF
was experiencing its economic downturn (Warner, 2006). The main concern for smaller sellers is
that Walmart is an almost unbeatable powerhouse in the food game. Organic food providers will
need to step up with some fancy footwork to stave off the threat of Walmart gobbling up all of
organic's current business.

In Today's, supermarkets, we have been spoilt with countless options of produce. Shopping in
supermarkets, consumers will find many stacks of foods labeled "Organic". These foods has opened
up more opportunity for both the seller and the consumer, showing to be the highest emerging
sectors of the food industry in the past century, as another substitute to conventional foods that is
seen in the supermarket. Organic foods, has been shown to be the goods of a farming system which
avoids the exploitation of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, additives and growth promoters.
Regardless of the price, there is a rising market for organic food, even though the technique used has
made the price significantly higher then that of normal conventional foods. There are many
questions on why people would purchase organic over traditional foods, and it is apparent that the
price does not affect the demand of the food. But why is there a large demand of organic foods?
Many research studies regarding the organic techniques in producing food, is due to the benefits that
arises from not only consuming the organic product but also the environmental benefits in going all
natural. Organic food is label as healthy because it contains low pesticide residue. Furthermore,
many consumers find organic food healthier, better tasting and safer than traditional foods.
There is also a large positive environmental impact when creating these foods; therefore consumers

Which is better organic or non–organic? Shoppers ask themselves this question every time they
stroll past the vegetable section in a grocery store. There is an abundant of information to help the
consumer make an educated decision. Each person's decision will no doubt be based on different
preferences and what they consider important. Even though organic foods do not have pesticides or
any other harmful chemicals, and are tastier and fresher than non–organic food, non–organic food
cost saves time and money and lasts longer. Both organic and non–organic foods have many
advantages and disadvantages.
First, organic foods do not have pesticides or any other harmful chemicals. "Consumer sureness in
organic food is based both on lowering environmental impacts and health diseases" (Bernacchia et
al. 565). Pesticides can result in many health problems. For example, it may cause neurologic and
endocrine system disorders and cancer. In the article Organic and Non–GMO, Smith says that
organic foods carry fewer pesticides than non–organic foods. "By pouring more and more pesticides
on crops, we're getting less healthy soil, less healthy food" (Smith 72). These chemicals may keep
nutrients from being absorbed in the body. Organic farmers use natural ingredients, like manure or
compost, to fertilize soil and plants. There are very helpful tips to ensure that the buyer chooses
foods without harmful pesticides or chemicals. For instance, products with USDA Organic, or Non–

According to the Organic Trade Association, in 2010 organic sales accounted for over four percent
of the U.S. total food sales (Cohen). This puts into perspective how much of a role organic food has
come to play in U.S. food sales. In our world today, one choice that people are constantly being
faced with when out shopping for groceries is whether or not they should purchase organic foods.
Many people assume that organic foods come with many more benefits than regular food which is
why they cost more. However, contrary to popular belief, along with the extra cost of organic food
there are actually little to no health nor environmental benefits, which is why we should stray away
from purchasing these products. When hearing the term organic one of the first things that typically
pops into people's heads is the word healthy, yet, in comparison to regular foods, organic foods
essentially aren't all that much healthier. For example, "Stanford University concluded... fruits and
vegetables labeled organic are, on average no more nutritious than their cheaper counterparts"
(Cohen). Even though organic foods are grown on fields free from fertilizers, they still contain a
similar number of nutritious ingredients. This effectively demonstrates as to why people should
restrain from purchasing organic foods. Regular foods allow for people to get all essential nutrients,
therefore there is no need to purchase organic options. Not only do organic and regular foods

Organic Food For Americans
Organic is derived from living matter. Food is what a living thing consumes. If humans are living
and healthy, and have the choice to eat living healthy foods. Would that not be the best choice to
make. Eating an apple straight from the tree. People on television do it all the time, but stores do not
always have those farm fresh apples in the home. If not for the nutrients, but the taste alone, organic
foods should be made affordable for all social classes.
As much as Americans always talk about getting fit and eating healthy, the majority are not able to
afford those select foods. Many people see organic food as a big dollar sign. "For as long as I can
remember, "organic" has been synonymous with affluence and conscious consumption"(McMillan).

society into thinking that the weight of the issue is in price when in reality it is the product. People
would much rather the new shoes over the healthier food any day. Shops can change the price of the
product all they want, but they cannot change the mind of the shopper. Changes have already been
made to make organic food more affordable, yet the perception is the same. Higher classes get better

Organic Foods And Organic Food Essay
Organic food is one of the fast growing markets in the world. Only in the U.S., retail sales of organic
foods were $6.2 billion in 2015: California made up the biggest part of the country's organic food
market, with $2.436 billion of total sales; Colorado was on the ninth place with $155 million of total
sales ("2015 Certified Organic Survey" 9). Today, organic products are available in almost every
conventional grocery store and often have a higher price over conventional products. In fact, the
majority of consumers believe that organic products do not contain pesticides or antibiotics, and
they are better for health and the environment. Because the U.S. Department of Agriculture
regulates the use of the "Organic" and "USDA Organic" labels, it is a primary driver of the
marketing success of organic products in the U.S. Misunderstanding of the principles and practices
of organic farming, labels and quality of organic food, values and motivations of consumers, have
made many debates in our society.
The Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 established uniform national standards for foods labeled
as "organic". Now, the label "organic" is used to show that food or another agricultural product has

Inorganic is a word everyone associates with healthy food. It can be spotted on the labels in
supermarkets and local grocery stores. The demand for organic food has even increased as more
people associate it with being healthy and environmentally friendly. However, how "organic" is
organic food? Is organic food worth the extra cost? Does organic food have that much more
nutrients than conventional food? These are all questions that ponder many people's brains. Organic
food receives mixed reviews. Some perceive it to be much more beneficial than conventional foods
while others do not. However, organic food is worth the recognition it receives as it is high quality.
The market for organic food is worth the extra dollars because it is very beneficial for human health,
the environment, and animal production.
A common controversy is if organic food is truly "richer" in nutrients. Some consumers argue that
there is not a large enough difference between the nutrient levels that makes organic food worth the
buy. Although this may be true in some cases, the right amount of nutrients is necessary for overall
body health. In a recent study conducted by Sapienza University of Rome, the vitamin C, vitamin E,
and carotenoids were higher in organic food than conventional (Brantsæter, 2017). In addition, there
were more minerals present in the organic food such as calcium, potassium, phosphorous,

A Debate Between Organic Foods And Non Organic Food
Over the last few years, there are many things have changed such as, technology, agriculture and
many more things. Technology is getting better and better day by day for humans need and
survivenment, but one thing is that human will never be able survive without food. Food comes
from farms and animals. There are many ways for farming like organic farming, conventional
farming, commercial farming, multi–crop farming, factory farming and many more other technique
of it. Farming has a significant role in toady's economy. All people should know what they are
eating and they have right to know for their health and survivenment. People need to know how
food gets grown, process, transported, marketed, prepared, and organized of food because it is very
important issues of sustainable living. There is a debate between organic food and non–organic food
that which one is better for both humans and nature. All people have different opinion about it but,
mostly people believe that organic food is healthier than non–organic, conventional food or any
other type food. However, I believe organic farming can not feed the world because organic farming
is expensive, take extra time, and dangerous. Seufert, Ramankutty and Foley( 2012) defined

In the 1930s, the average American ate around 97 pounds of meat in one year (Daniel 575). Now,
the average American consumes about 270 pounds of meat per year (Barclay). Not only has this
increased by almost 200 percent, but it really is not safe to eat this much meat in general. Although
the meat industry provides the comfort of All–Natural and Premium Ingredients used in their
products, it does not cover up what is truly inside of the meat they sell. The meat, however, is not
the only current food related problem in the U.S. Traditionally raised fruits, vegetables, and animal
products may contain pesticides, growth hormones, and antibiotics that can be harmful or even

product consumer in hopes to turn away from the regular products. These organic and non–GMO
foods are just a way for some portions of the food industry to help guide the consumer back to the
way the food industry used to be. Therefore, the non–GMO and organic foods must help boost your

The "Best" Organic Foods You Should NEVER Eat: The Nine Worst Exposed
How do you feel about your diet? It stresses me out to hear that so many people are feeling guilty
about every choice they make. To be clear, it's not because most of them don't know what to look
for. It's because they later read someone else's assessment of that food item.
This Information Age may make us wiser in many areas. But as it pertains to food, it's kind of a
curse, too. It seems like there are few foods out there that are "good" and "clean" enough.
In fact, you can find numerous sources, both pro and con, which frame the exact same food in
different ways. Is it disease–causing, healing, nutritionally empty, or the magic bullet for weight
loss? It all depends on who you ask.
Today we're talking about a word with a lot of allure: organic. What does it mean, and where does it
count? Does it even count at all? Moreover, can we trust that a product is healthy because it's
organic? Read on to see organic food's secrets exposed!

Organic foods are not genetically modified and are not grown with sewage, petroleum, or most

The Benefits Of Organic Food And Organic Foods
As consumers, we see the label "organic" in most supermarkets that we shop at every day, but do we
know what makes certain food items obtain the label organic? There is much controversy on the
topic organic foods and for good reason. There are many factors to take into account when decided
if organic food is superior to conventionally grown foods. There are key components that all amount
to how nutritious your food is. It all comes down to the quality of the land that the food is grown on,
the farming technique, the elimination of toxic chemicals, and the increase in certain beneficial
vitamins. The only downside to being pro–organic food is the slightly increased price tag. Despite
the increased cost, organic foods are a healthier choice compared to conventional chemical ridden
foods.
In the United States, organic food has become so popular people don't have to grow their own food
or even find a farmers market to be able to obtain organic food. You can typically find it in
supermarkets everywhere. Organic farming has been around for quite some time; it first became
popular during the 1940s. Throughout the decades, people gained more knowledge on the benefits
of farming and eating organic. George Kuepper, a sustainable agriculture specialist, notes, . . .
"while one can't say that the 60's counterculture invented organic farming, it is fair to say that it
created the organic industry" (9). During this time period, there was more information available

Introduction with Industry Overview:
Organic food has continuously been seen as the healthy choice but only in recent years has the
concept become a world over phenomenon. Earlier, organic food was somewhat of a fad and
although the principles were practiced, it was by no means highlighted.
The argument on whether the organic food products can be bought online and are really organic has
gained enormous magnitudes in not only Pakistan but all over the world. People are dealing with
issues of what is safe and fresh to buy online, what is clean and what is not, what food processing is
hard to animals and soil and what is more viable. To resolve these issues, many people are moving
towards organic food products.
As per the World of Organic Agriculture study, the organic food products market has been rising at
the rate of 20–25% per annum for the last decade.
The food situation in Pakistan also needs immediate attention mainly due to no or very low
compliance with standards and lack of monitoring. Though many people seem to be savvy on the
issues involved, at least to some extent, the online market for nontoxic, cleaner, organic products in
the country is still very limited.
Are people responsive to the differences between organic and conventional foods? Do they have
access to them? Do buyers and sellers have different view–points on the availability, prices and
value of organic foods? Do they have multiple options to choose from? Will they buy online? This

they have experienced in their life since their transition. In light of this transition, the food industry,
especially the major corporations and pharmaceutical companies, have taken a devastating blow to
their sales and profits have been falling. In an effort to combat this decrease in capital, countless
corporate–backed studies claiming that there are not only no added benefits to consuming
organically grown food, but that it is also unhealthy to consume organic food due to the possibility
of insect infestation of produce and other similar claims have been released in a vanity–fueled effort
to cloud the minds of the American people. As gullible as many people are, the majority of the
masses are not being fooled. Because of a number of counter studies completed and also released to
the public, it is now commonly known that there are a plethora of benefits that a change from
conventional to organic farming would bring to the country, including a decrease in disease,
improved health, and a

The Pros And Cons Of Organic Food
The Pros and Cons of Organic Foods
The organic food industry is booming. Demand for organic food is higher than ever, according to the
Organic Trade Association's recent report. American's spent a whopping $43.3 billion on organic
food in 2015, an 11 percent increase over last year's record. And yet 5.6 billion pounds of pesticides
are used around the world each year.
Organic food is made without: synthetic fertilizers and pesticides genetic engineering sewage sludge
radiation preservatives
In order to be certified USDA organic, the product or produce has to contain at least 95 percent
organic ingredients. If an item is said to be made with organic ingredients, they must be at least 70
percent organic. Organic food has to be produced and processed according to strict USDA standards
and be inspected to be certified.
The pros
The Pros
Organic foods are free of harmful pesticides, antibiotics, GMOs, and additives.
They have less of an environmental impact than conventional farming.
The nutritional value is typically higher in organic foods.
Avoid pesticides
One of the main reasons to buy organic food is to avoid possible exposure to pesticides. Over 1
billion pounds of pesticides are used every year in the United States alone, according to a study in
Reviews on Environmental Health. These chemicals are designed to be toxic. They are used in an
attempt to prevent damage from insects, weeds, rodents, and fungus. However, their long–term
safety in low doses is not fully understood.
While there are no current long–term studies about the potential impacts of pesticide residue on
human health, there is growing evidence that concentrated pesticide exposure is related to increased
rates of chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer's, according to a recent study. Experts
believe that the amount of pesticide residue on produce is not in high enough concentrations to be
harmful.
Pesticides are known to be especially dangerous for children and pregnant women. They have been
linked to attention and learning problems, low birth weight, abnormal brain and nervous system
development, and pediatric cancer, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
While children are most often exposed to pesticides at home

5. Organic produce simply tastes so much better. Fruit and vegetables full of juice and flavour, and
so many different varieties to try! There are about 100 different kinds of organic potatoes in

6. Organic farms support and nurture our beautiful and diverse wildlife. Over the last thirty years,
intensive farming in the UK has led to dramatic erosion of the soil, a fall of up to 70% of wild birds
in some areas, the destruction of ancient hedgerows, and the near extinction of some of the most
beautiful species of butterflies, frogs, grass–snakes and wild mammals.
7. Organic food is not really more expensive than intensively farmed foods, as we pay for
conventional foods through our taxes. We spend billion of pounds every year cleaning up the mess

It's awesome being able to grow our own vegetables and pick them when they are ripe. Ever since

What makes something organic and why do they have the name organic? According to the article,
"Can you dig it?" organic means "naturally intended" (Lisa, Truesdale). Organic products are
expensive and must get certified to be labeled organic by the USDA. This article also gives lots of
support on reasons why people should have an organic garden because it can help them and the
environment by using natural fertilizers instead of using hazardous fertilizers–like using coffee
grounds. Having your own organic garden, you often have more control over the earth than you
think. You are also helping your own health and the planet when going organic. I found it interesting
when the author said, "When growing your own goods, you're reducing your carbon footprint,
instead of getting in your car and driving to the store for food and ingredients that may have been
shipped in from across the world" (Can dig it? By Lisa Truesdale). When you grow your own garden
you have the ability to pick your own vegetables in the garden; in which you have more control of
the choice of food you consume. The food grown in your own garden is a lot of the time fresher than

Organic And Non Organic Foods
When you or your parents visit the grocery store, which food products do you consider purchasing?
It is difficult not to notice the current trend of organic foods on the shelves at the supermarket. 1 The
word organic refers to the way farmers grow and process agricultural products (Mayo Clinic Staff,
par. 3). Whether or not to purchase organic foods has been a subject of debate in recent years. Since
in today's society people are always in search for the healthiest foods available to nurture their
bodies. Although few people can tell the difference between organic and non–organic foods, there
are various benefits and differences in terms of the nutritional value, physical appearance, cost, and
farming practices.
When deciding whether or not to buy organic items, one factor to consider is their nutritional value.
The general belief is that organic foods are healthier for you than non–organic foods. 2 According to
the Professor Carlo Leifert at Newcastle University, "Organic food has more of the antioxidant
compounds linked to better health than regular food, and lower levels of toxic metals and pesticides"
(Carrington and Arnett, par. 3). 3 Organic produce typically carries fewer pesticide residues than
non–organic produce (Mayo Clinic Staff, par. 15). Non–organic crops also have higher levels of
cadmium and a toxic metals (Carrington and Arnett, par. 4). The animals used in the production of

Although organic foods are found in nearly every grocery store, the average person is unable to
differentiate between organic and non–organic food products. Many consumers purchase organic
products in the hopes of gaining positive health benefits. (Chhabra, Kolli, et al "Organically Grown
Food Provides") "The current demand for organic foods outstrips the domestic supply, causing
retailers in the United States to import $2 billion worth of organic foods annually." (Crandall,
Seideman, et al. "Organic poultry: Consumer perceptions") In this paper, I want to define what it
means for food to be organically produced, while also exploring the requirements necessary to deem
a product 'Organic". According to the USDA, organic foods consist of foods and products that are
grown without the use of sewage sludge, harmful pesticides, and fertilizers made from synthetic
ingredients. These standards and guidelines were implemented with the overall objective of
improving the quality of the food supply while also preserving the environment. The Organic Foods
Act (OFPA) "authorized a new USDA National Organic Program (NOP) to set national standards for
the production, handling, and processing of organically grown agricultural products. In addition, the
Program oversees mandatory certification of organic production." (Gold "Organic
Production/Organic Food:") When these standards are upheld, consumers are given the opportunity

Eating Organic Food Vs Organic Food
Eating healthier is a goal that most people have for their New Year's Resolution. Rather it is to eat
more salads or try to go to more organic or natural foods. People are trying to find ways to put better
food into their bodies. Then to come to the big realization that it is expensive to eat healthier. Why
pay seven dollars for a salad when they could go to McDonald's and get two cheeseburgers for two
dollars, or go to an organic smoothie shop and get an expensive organic smoothie that taste bad.
While at the same time it cost twice as much as one from a fast food place. Eating organic food is
way betters for you than anything you can get at McDonald's or Burger King, just it's way cheaper
to feed four or five people at those places than going to a restaurant that serves nothing but organic
foods. So, what is the real difference between food raised on an organic farm and food that wasn't
raised on an organic farm. Other than the extra work put in by the farmer is there that much
difference in organic raised food than one that was not. Plus, if there is such a difference than why
doesn't McDonald's or Burger King use those types of foods instead of the ones they use now?
According to Denis Lairon there is some major differences between the two different raised foods.
(Lairon, 2010) One of them being organic plants contain more anti–oxidant micronutrients. (Lairon,
2010) Another is that 94–100 percent of the food that is raised organically contain no pesticides and

Organic Of Organic Food Industry
2. Introduction
Organic foods are foods that are processed without the use of synthetic materials such as pesticides,
antibiotics and chemical fertilizers. National Organic Standards Board defined organic agriculture
as;
"An ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological
cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off–farm inputs and on management
practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony" (Organic Trade Association,
2014).
Organic food industry is a heavily regulated industry which complies with organic standards set by
governments and international organizations (Statista, 2014). Inspections of farm fields, record
keeping and periodic testing of soil and water are required to ensure that growers of organic foods
are meeting the standards which have been set by these organizations.
Although organic production reflects similar cost structure with conventional production in terms of
growing, harvesting, transportation and storage; total costs are higher in organic production due to
more labour and management intensive process in order to adapt these strict regulations. This causes
organic foods become more expensive than conventional foods. However, even more expensive,
global demand for organic foods has been growing substantially over the last decades. There are
several different reasons behind this rapid increase in consumer demand for organic foods. Food
safety concerns linked to

Organic Food Benefits Of Organic Foods Essay
Organic Foods
I chose the topic organic food benefits. Are you concerned about the health of yourself and that of
your family? You should be. You might be surprised to learn of the chemicals known to exist in the
foods we eat daily. I hope to evaluate the benefits of organic food versus those of conventional food
and then you can make your own decision based on my presentment.
Organic food is an alternative to conventional food. It is marketed as pure, wholesome, natural, and
still small scale. People shopping for organic food are doing so to avoid the chemicals and not
necessarily because the organic products have more nutrition. When I go shopping at the local
grocery store I will purchase fresh produce such as carrots, potatoes, fruits, and meats to avoid all
the chemicals that could very possibly be part of the nonorganic similar items. It is possible that the
nonorganic carrots could very well be grown in soil that has been heavily fertilized year after year
and/or sprayed with chemical pesticides. Ever wonder why apples are so shiny? A coating of shellac
is applied to apples to give apples a shiny coating, prolong shelf life, and prevent bruising. You
might reconsider the next time you reach for the shiniest red apple and remember to think about the
pesticides that were used on the apple trees. There are no pesticides sprayed on organic food. While
this does make the food taste fresher, it also means that it will go bad more quickly. Unfortunately,
this increases

Organic Food Vs Organic Foods
An ongoing debate exists with organic foods becoming the centerpiece of discussion. Are these
foods healthier? Is the consumption a better decision, ethically? Does the price justify the product?
These are a handful of questions that are commonplace, and there is little research to support either
point of view. The popularity of an all–natural production of plant or animal products continues to
grow, but purchasing behavior is highly influenced on marketing or an individual's personal beliefs.
Although many people throughout the world believe that organic food is more beneficial than its
conventional counterpart, the research does not support this claim. Contrarily, research indicates that
there are few nutritional differences between organic and non–organic foods.
The market for organic food has grown within recent years. However, the information to support the
health benefits of organic food does not always come from respected sources. Many professionals
have developed an understanding based on scientific data, but others have not taken the time to do
so. An article from Nutrition & Dietetic (Ojha, 2007) randomly questioned two hundred and forty
private practice dieticians and naturopaths in Australia. They were questioned on various topics
regarding the benefits of organic foods in comparison to conventional foods and to determine if
additional education is necessary for professionals in varying fields.
Dieticians and naturopaths agreed there is a lack of evidence to

Organic Vs Non-Organic Foods
While we all love food and it's a necessity to live there are now two categories of food. Organic and
non–organic, this can be any food from meats to dairy to fruits and so on just about everything today
can be put to one side or the other. Through the use of evidence and explanations, the difference
between organic and non–organic will be shown in depth providing for a decision to be made
between the two. There are many food groups that can be divided between non–organic and organic
foods the two that will be discussed today are meats and vegetables or fruits. Organic meats are any
animals that aren't fed modified food. This means that animals such as cows, pigs, and even
chickens are given food like grass and hay. This in order to be considered organic the animals must
be able to live and walk among outdoors(Robinson, Segal 4). The food for the animals is also treated
with natural methods to prevent diseases(Robinson, Segal 4). The main reason that people steer
away from organic is the price compared to non–organic is more. In fact, the organic meat can cost
more than 70% more than non–organic meats(Marks 14). Now let's talk about non–organic meat
which has many differences compared to organic. The way organic meat is raised is different
because it can be raised outdoors or inside crammed together with thousands of other
animals(Robinson, Segal 4). The feeding of non–organic can involve growth hormones which allow
the animals to grow faster. Genetically Modified

In 1980, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) took an interest in organic farming, publishing
a report titled Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. (Organic Debate, 2014) As
organic foods have been growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about
whether or not organic foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic
foods they are having arguments stating that organic food is not what they say on the labels.
Although people think that organic food is not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with
there health and provides a healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of
organic food buying behaviors of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of motivating
factors on both the attitude towards organic foods and the intention to buy organic foods together
with the mediation effect of attitude towards organic foods (Cabuk, 2014).
People tend to argue on the fact of whether or not organic foods are good for them. According to
Soley's article it states that "Organic foods are healthier for consumers, farmers, and the planet, says
Cathy Fichtner, category manager for chocolate, cocoa, & caramel, Global Organics, Ltd. "Organic
production reduces exposure to toxic and persistent chemicals in the foods we eat and for farm
workers and their families (Soley, 2015)." By having this information published they are agreeing

Organics Vs Organic Food
The term "organic" has been highly overrated throughout recent years. Considered to be better for
the environment and for a person's health, organics are believed to be a better option when
purchasing food, when in reality they are just as good compared to regular food. Even so, organics
have more drawbacks rather than benefits. With organics high price, lack of nutritional value, and
environmental upset, it is no wonder why a majority of the population chooses to purchase regular
food over organics.
While organics may be healthier compared to regular food, the high price of organics is impractical
for members in the community. Money is a key factor for consumers when purchasing food and
most people do not want to give in to the high price tag when there are other options for a better
deal. A pound of beef for instance, costs $9.99 organically while a regular pound of beef only costs
$6.49, according to a 2015 consumer report. Based on the lower price tag, people are more prone to
buy the regular beef as they can gain a necessary source of protein yet sustain the budget they
desire. . When purchasing food, prices need to be considered as the views of the buyers can be
changed if a product is worth more than what they want to spend. Compared to organic food, it is
more reasonable for people to purchase regular food as the lower price tag allows them to buy larger
quantities and varieties. Additionally, organic foods disregard different social classes within the
community.

In addition, organic foods have a greater amount of vitamins compared to conventionally grown
foods. It is commonly known that organically grown foods can have a higher amount of certain
vitamins. To begin with, research has concluded organic foods commonly have a higher percentage
of antioxidants compared to conventional food. Walter Crinnion notes, "Flavonoid molecules are
potent antioxidants" (6). Typically people know the consumption of antioxidants helps strengthen
your immune system. However, antioxidants weren't the only vitamin that was found abundantly in
organic foods. Other common vitamins that were found in higher percentages in organic foods were
vitamin C, iron, phosphorus and magnesium (Crinnion 6). Most people choose to consume fruits
and vegetable because they are seen as being a healthy food choice. If you're going to purchase and
consume fresh fruits and vegetables why not choose the product that offers the most beneficial
vitamins found in it. By choosing organic produce you're getting the most vitamins out of your fruits
and vegetables. Parents want their children to have the best start in life that they possibly can.
Organic foods are especially beneficial to young children's health. Claudia Hirsch a journalist
writes, "Their small frames, fast metabolisms and high intake of grains, fruits and vegetables mean
their systems absorb compounds faster and their body functions are affected more quickly and
dramatically than those of adults" (78).

The International Organic Food Market
Introduction A substantially growth of organic food industry globally has become one of the
evidence proving that people emphasize more in eating well, sanely, healthfully and even ethically
nowadays (Bittman, 2009).An estimation of US$ 47.2 billion is expected to grow in the
international organic food market within 5 years from 2010 to 2015 (Transparency Market Research,
2014). Consumers are willing to pay more for organic, environmentally–friendly or natural products
even during recession (Cummings, 2008). Demand for organic products are gradually increase every
year, thereby this report is to analyze the market of China precisely in overall environmental aspects
and outline some marketing implications the company will apply if it exports organic products into
China. The company mentioned is Country Farms SdnBhd, a company based in Malaysia and is
totally owned subsidiary of Berjaya Group Berhad (Country Farm Organics, 2014). It was founded
in 1998. The aim of the company is to promote healthier living in fast–paced world nowadays in
supplying high quality organic products at affordable price. Country Farms offer a wide range of
100% natural products, including foods, vegetables, Milk powder, Oil, beverages, fruit juice,
personal care products etc. The prices of organic products are higher compare to conventional
products in the market (Bezawada, R. & Pauwels, K, 2013). Hence, target markets of the organic
product are mostly those households with middle to upper income.

Organic Vs Organic Food
The Right Choice It happens all too often– a consumer goes to the supermarket on a run for the
necessities: milk, eggs, bread, meat, fruit, vegetables and possibly more. Seems quite simple,
however there are choices to make when it comes to the food you purchase. Some obvious decisions
to be made could be the brand, size of package, or even the amount of each item to buy. There is one
slightly more obscure choice to be made, though. Consumers have the power to choose the origin
from which their food comes, prior to hitting the grocery shelves. Conventional or organic? An
origin of pesticides and chemicals, or an origin of naturally nutrient–rich soil. This appears to be an
easy verdict when it is put into those brief terms; however, when price, clever marketing, and overall
confusion of the subject are factored in, it becomes quite the predicament. Many consumers
experience a dilemma when deciding what type of foods to feed themselves and their families.
Consumers should purchase organic foods because of the additional health benefits they provide
without the toxins that are evident in conventionally produced foods. What is organic? Organic is a
government dealt certification that products, mostly foods, can obtain by neglecting to use
pesticides, genetic modifications, chemical fertilizers, or hormones in their production (Morin 3).
Organic food and conventional food only differ in the way they are produced, yet the more natural
production of organic foods tend to yield

The Food Of Organic Foods

  • 1. The Food Of Organic Foods Shopping for groceries can be unhealthy and possibly even toxic if one does not know that much about the foods they are buying. Too many people put aside the fact that we may be harming our bodies from all of the toxins from non–organic foods we are eating or drinking every day. Finding out the truth of all the non–organic foods people have been giving their family versus the organic foods they should be giving their families, will have some people thinking twice about whether or not they should buy an organic product. There are many reasons why people should educate themselves with all the information regarding the benefits eating organically. Everyone around the world should embrace the availability of organic, naturally grown foods to help introduce a healthier lifestyle, prevent diseases, and help decrease environmental pollution. To start, organic foods have a more nutritional value that leads to a healthier lifestyle. For instance, many of the organic foods have been found to be higher in vitamin C, antioxidants, and natural minerals like calcium, iron, chromium and magnesium. Most of these nutrients are the main components of a human's nutrition. Non–organic foods could be causing certain foods to become less nutritional for a person eating. The less nutrition a person has, the more they are at risk to end up having health problems. This information that is being found in organic foods shows just how much they can be for a person, rather than non–organic foods. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Advantages Of Organic Food Why is it that organic foods are more costly than conventional foods, financially or health–wise? Consumers should not be charged a higher price for organically grown foods in order to eat healthier. Choosing to eat foods whether organic or conventional should be equal in cost to the consumer. I won't go in the direction of the whole paleo caveman thing but when you think about early man or our ancestors consuming foods in its pure, natural, organic state without concern of ingesting potentially harmful chemicals' or excessive costs, don't you wonder where things went awry? Prior to the Twentieth Century all food was organic. "Organic" in terms of food, simply means that the product or its ingredients were produced without routine inputs of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, chemical preservatives or irradiated (radiation exposure) (5). Then along came the discovery and invention of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides in 1920's forever changing the costs, development and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Read the labels and research their source. Consumers may be aware there is a choice between organic foods and conventional foods but they may not realize exactly what this entails. For instance, facts such as the government having an established limit for safe amount of pesticides and allowed residues used in foods growth process or the USDA's food safety warning that organic foods' lack of preservatives may make them vulnerable to bacteria and parasites. The question of whether organic foods are healthier for you than conventional foods is yet to be determined as there have not yet been sufficient scientific studies to prove this one way or another. In determining the healthier alternative common sense should come into play. Organic foods are relatively free of herbicides and pesticides which are dangerous to human health, whereas conventional foods are not. Therefore wouldn't it be logical to avoid these ... • 5. Organic Foods And Organic Food In 1980, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) took an interest in organic farming, publishing a report titled Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. As organic foods have been growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about whether or not organic foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic foods they are having arguments stating that organic food is not what they say on the labels. Although people think that organic food is not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with their health and provides a healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of organic food buying behaviors of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on many studies that is the case. Organic foods are preserved through a lot of different procedures. According to Chhabra's article it agrees with the fact organic food is good for you anf makes you healthier by stating "Organic farming aims to preserve soil and ecosystem health by forgoing heavy use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. In addition to these potential beneficial effects on the environment, consumers are attracted to organic foodstuff because of the claimed positive health effects, presumably due to the absence of pesticides or artificial hormones." . There can be a proposition found in that article that organic farming can be used to help people with there health issues. It also talks about in Chhabra's article that it helps with curing the development of cancer. By having organic foods possibly help with not letting cancer destroy your life's wouldn't you want to have those foods in your body. There have been a lot of reason why organic foods have been good for our bodies. There aren't that many negative things to be presented about organic foods. There are a lot of arguments for the other side of my argument. Many people believe that organic foods are way to expensive and aren't doing what people say they do. The argument that Hamerschlag says states "Academics Review accuses organic companies of "paid advocacy" in which companies fund their NGO allies to promote messages that "amplify negative health risk allegations linked ... • 7. Organic Food Vs Organic Foods Organically grown foods are not new to the world, they have been around since Native Americans lived on the land. Most people do not buy organic goods because of the cost and fear that the foods have been contaminated with different types of disease insects carry. Some do not even know what organic foods are; organic foods are foods produced by organic farming. "while the standards differ worldwide, organic farming in general features cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster recycling of resources, promote ecological balance a conserve biodiversity" (Arnett, 1). The U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates the organic food and make sure it is clean enough for human consumption. Different health organizations around the country try to encourage people to add organic to their diet. Conventional food chemicals are polluting the soil and finding their way into people's water systems and slowly destroying their bodies. The destruction finds its way through the consumption of the food or the chemicals in the water. Despite the cost difference, organically grown foods are better than non–organic foods because they are healthier for human consumption, are more sustainable for the environment, and support the local food movement. All over the world people are making the switch to organic because it is a better choice for one's health. Some people may not even know what organic grown food is. • 9. Conventional Food Vs Organic Food Throughout history the way food is produced has changed drastically. There are several options an individual can obtain regarding the food bought. Consumers nowadays are unaware of the different ways the food they buy, whether it be grocery stores or farmers markets, have different classifications when produced. There are several different factors which come into play when buying food and its factors that affect the body. Most food produced has genetically modified elements which harm the human body over time. One of the options a person can change their lifestyle to open the possibilities of greater food factors is switching from conventional food to organic food, but what is organic? The USDA identifies organic food as, "integratecultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity". Conventional food has ruled the market for years leading consumers to believe it is their only option, but organic food is gaining grand popularity due to the way it is produced, the fact in which it is GMO–free, and its overall greater health benefits in the human system. The organic food production market has become increasingly appealing to consumers because of the process in which it is produced. Unlike conventional food, organic food has greater production values and standards, which is why it is known to be fresher. • 11. Organic And Non Organic Foods In a recent study done by Organic Farming Research Company, there are approximately 13,000 organic farms throughout the United States out of 2.1 million farms. In recent years more people are converting to buying strictly organic foods, but why? Steven Shapin answers this by writing "what are you buying when you buy organic?" In his article he explains the difference between organic foods and non–organic. People are becoming aware of the dangers and risk of non–organic produce and food and converting to strictly organic foods. Organic and non–organic foods can be compared by price, calories, how the produce is grown and even packaging. Location in the store is also a factor that can come into play. Prices in stores are very competitive and people typically go for "name brand" foods. Although, prices are competitive they still vary by brand name, size, and quantity. Organic foods are typically more expensive because of more labor required to grow the produce, organic certification cost, etc. "Many smalls farms can be certified for approximately $750 the first year and between $375 and $575 in later years" (CCOF 1). Certification costs are expensive, thus making the retail price of the produce higher. Many factors are contributed when growing organic foods. In stores consumers will typically pay around $2.82 for a pound of non– organic tomatoes compared to $4.05 per pound for organic tomatoes. In the case of non–organic red peppers they generally go for $2.76 per pound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Advantages And Benefits Of Organic Food And Organic Foods Introduction Outline/scope "Organic agriculture includes all agricultural systems that promote the environmentally, socially and economically sound production of foods and fibres. These systems take local soil fertility as a key to successful production. By respecting the natural capacity of plants, animals and the landscape, it aims to optimise quality in all aspects of agriculture and the environment. Organic agriculture dramatically reduces external inputs by refraining from the use of chemo–synthetic fertilisers, pesticides and pharmaceuticals. Instead it allows the powerful laws of nature to increase both agricultural yields and disease resistance. Organic agriculture adheres to globally accepted principles, which are implemented within local social–economic, geoclimatical and cultural settings." Organic Food An introduction to organic foods In spite of the increasing popularity of Organic food these days, most of the people do not have a clear idea regarding the definition of organic food. In simple words, Organic foods are those foods that are produced, processed and packaged without using chemicals. The organic industry is growing rapidly and has caught the attention of farmers, manufacturers and, above all, consumers. The modern Indian lifestyles and lifestyle–related diseases, as well as limited time to cook at home, are also expected to create demand for health and wellness products in the coming years. These factors, coupled with environmental issues and growing resistance towards genetically modified food products, are predicted to accelerate growth in the organic food category. Indian consumers currently spend a large portion of their income on food. Nearly 45 percent of consumption expenditures go for food (51 percent in rural areas and 39 percent in urban areas). In urban areas, the consumption of processed and ready–to–eat (RTE) or convenience foods is higher due to relatively higher disposable incomes, exposure to a greater variety of processed foods, a preference for quick meals, and familiarity with foreign foods or cuisines. Rural consumers tend to prefer traditional Indian foods prepared at home, but exposure to processed foods is increasing even in rural areas.

It will undoubtedly need to utilize this information to make the most of its profit in the given sector. There is an abundant of information to help the consumer make an educated decision. Each person's decision will no doubt be based on different preferences and what they consider important. Even though organic foods do not have pesticides or any other harmful chemicals, and are tastier and fresher than non–organic food, non–organic food cost saves time and money and lasts longer. Both organic and non–organic foods have many advantages and disadvantages. First, organic foods do not have pesticides or any other harmful chemicals. "Consumer sureness in organic food is based both on lowering environmental impacts and health diseases" (Bernacchia et al. 565). Pesticides can result in many health problems. For example, it may cause neurologic and endocrine system disorders and cancer. In the article Organic and Non–GMO, Smith says that organic foods carry fewer pesticides than non–organic foods. "By pouring more and more pesticides on crops, we're getting less healthy soil, less healthy food" (Smith 72). These chemicals may keep nutrients from being absorbed in the body. • 26. Organic Food Vs Organic Foods According to the Organic Trade Association, in 2010 organic sales accounted for over four percent of the U.S. total food sales (Cohen). This puts into perspective how much of a role organic food has come to play in U.S. food sales. In our world today, one choice that people are constantly being faced with when out shopping for groceries is whether or not they should purchase organic foods. Many people assume that organic foods come with many more benefits than regular food which is why they cost more. However, contrary to popular belief, along with the extra cost of organic food there are actually little to no health nor environmental benefits, which is why we should stray away from purchasing these products. When hearing the term organic one of the first things that typically pops into people's heads is the word healthy, yet, in comparison to regular foods, organic foods essentially aren't all that much healthier. For example, "Stanford University concluded... fruits and vegetables labeled organic are, on average no more nutritious than their cheaper counterparts" (Cohen). Even though organic foods are grown on fields free from fertilizers, they still contain a similar number of nutritious ingredients. This effectively demonstrates as to why people should restrain from purchasing organic foods. Regular foods allow for people to get all essential nutrients, therefore there is no need to purchase organic options. Not only do organic and regular foods typically share equal ... Would that not be the best choice to make. Eating an apple straight from the tree. People on television do it all the time, but stores do not always have those farm fresh apples in the home. If not for the nutrients, but the taste alone, organic foods should be made affordable for all social classes. As much as Americans always talk about getting fit and eating healthy, the majority are not able to afford those select foods. Many people see organic food as a big dollar sign. "Respected chef and food advocate Alice Waters argued that shoppers make the choice between organic grapes and "Nike shoes– two pairs"," (McMillan). If this is the case the public is fooling society into thinking that the weight of the issue is in price when in reality it is the product. People would much rather the new shoes over the healthier food any day. Shops can change the price of the product all they want, but they cannot change the mind of the shopper. • 30. Organic Foods And Organic Food Essay Organic food is one of the fast growing markets in the world. Only in the U.S., retail sales of organic foods were $6.2 billion in 2015: California made up the biggest part of the country's organic food market, with $2.436 billion of total sales; Colorado was on the ninth place with $155 million of total sales ("2015 Certified Organic Survey" 9). Today, organic products are available in almost every conventional grocery store and often have a higher price over conventional products. In fact, the majority of consumers believe that organic products do not contain pesticides or antibiotics, and they are better for health and the environment. Because the U.S. Department of Agriculture regulates the use of the "Organic" and "USDA Organic" labels, it is a primary driver of the marketing success of organic products in the U.S. Misunderstanding of the principles and practices of organic farming, labels and quality of organic food, values and motivations of consumers, have made many debates in our society. The Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 established uniform national standards for foods labeled as "organic". Now, the label "organic" is used to show that food or another agricultural product has been produced through methods and practices defined by the U.S. Ryzhaya 2 Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its National Organic Program (NOP) ("Organic Standards"). The demand for organic food has even increased as more people associate it with being healthy and environmentally friendly. However, how "organic" is organic food? Is organic food worth the extra cost? Does organic food have that much more nutrients than conventional food? These are all questions that ponder many people's brains. Organic food receives mixed reviews. Some perceive it to be much more beneficial than conventional foods while others do not. However, organic food is worth the recognition it receives as it is high quality. The market for organic food is worth the extra dollars because it is very beneficial for human health, the environment, and animal production. A common controversy is if organic food is truly "richer" in nutrients. Some consumers argue that there is not a large enough difference between the nutrient levels that makes organic food worth the buy. Although this may be true in some cases, the right amount of nutrients is necessary for overall body health. In a recent study conducted by Sapienza University of Rome, the vitamin C, vitamin E, and carotenoids were higher in organic food than conventional (Brantsæter, 2017). In addition, there were more minerals present in the organic food such as calcium, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, and iron which all maintain homeostasis in the body. • 36. Organic Food Vs Organic Foods In the 1930s, the average American ate around 97 pounds of meat in one year (Daniel 575). Now, the average American consumes about 270 pounds of meat per year (Barclay). Not only has this increased by almost 200 percent, but it really is not safe to eat this much meat in general. Although the meat industry provides the comfort of All–Natural and Premium Ingredients used in their products, it does not cover up what is truly inside of the meat they sell. The meat, however, is not the only current food related problem in the U.S. Traditionally raised fruits, vegetables, and animal products may contain pesticides, growth hormones, and antibiotics that can be harmful or even terminal to the body. The Benefits Of Organic Food And Organic Foods As consumers, we see the label "organic" in most supermarkets that we shop at every day, but do we know what makes certain food items obtain the label organic? There is much controversy on the topic organic foods and for good reason. There are many factors to take into account when decided if organic food is superior to conventionally grown foods. There are key components that all amount to how nutritious your food is. It all comes down to the quality of the land that the food is grown on, the farming technique, the elimination of toxic chemicals, and the increase in certain beneficial vitamins. The only downside to being pro–organic food is the slightly increased price tag. Despite the increased cost, organic foods are a healthier choice compared to conventional chemical ridden foods. In the United States, organic food has become so popular people don't have to grow their own food or even find a farmers market to be able to obtain organic food. You can typically find it in supermarkets everywhere. Organic farming has been around for quite some time; it first became popular during the 1940s. Throughout the decades, people gained more knowledge on the benefits of farming and eating organic. George Kuepper, a sustainable agriculture specialist, notes, . . . Organic Food And Organic Foods Introduction with Industry Overview: Organic food has continuously been seen as the healthy choice but only in recent years has the concept become a world over phenomenon. Earlier, organic food was somewhat of a fad and although the principles were practiced, it was by no means highlighted. The argument on whether the organic food products can be bought online and are really organic has gained enormous magnitudes in not only Pakistan but all over the world. People are dealing with issues of what is safe and fresh to buy online, what is clean and what is not, what food processing is hard to animals and soil and what is more viable. To resolve these issues, many people are moving towards organic food products. As per the World of Organic Agriculture study, the organic food products market has been rising at the rate of 20–25% per annum for the last decade. The food situation in Pakistan also needs immediate attention mainly due to no or very low compliance with standards and lack of monitoring. Though many people seem to be savvy on the issues involved, at least to some extent, the online market for nontoxic, cleaner, organic products in the country is still very limited. • 44. Eating Organic Food : The Benefits Of Organic Food In recent years, more and more Americans have been making the dietary transition from processed and conventionally grown food to whole, clean, or organically grown food. Food that is grown organically is grown without the use of chemical or synthetic pesticides and has not been genetically modified in any way. What started off as simply an eating trend has evolved into a way of life for some, with many avid supporters and practicers of the organic food diet preaching the benefits that they have experienced in their life since their transition. In light of this transition, the food industry, especially the major corporations and pharmaceutical companies, have taken a devastating blow to their sales and profits have been falling. In an effort to combat this decrease in capital, countless corporate–backed studies claiming that there are not only no added benefits to consuming organically grown food, but that it is also unhealthy to consume organic food due to the possibility of insect infestation of produce and other similar claims have been released in a vanity–fueled effort to cloud the minds of the American people. As gullible as many people are, the majority of the masses are not being fooled. Because of a number of counter studies completed and also released to the public, it is now commonly known that there are a plethora of benefits that a change from conventional to organic farming would bring to the country, including a decrease in disease, improved health, and a ... Over 1 billion pounds of pesticides are used every year in the United States alone, according to a study in Reviews on Environmental Health. These chemicals are designed to be toxic. They are used in an attempt to prevent damage from insects, weeds, rodents, and fungus. However, their long–term safety in low doses is not fully understood. While there are no current long–term studies about the potential impacts of pesticide residue on human health, there is growing evidence that concentrated pesticide exposure is related to increased rates of chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer's, according to a recent study. Experts believe that the amount of pesticide residue on produce is not in high enough concentrations to be harmful. Pesticides are known to be especially dangerous for children and pregnant women. They have been linked to attention and learning problems, low birth weight, abnormal brain and nervous system development, and pediatric cancer, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. You might be surprised to learn of the chemicals known to exist in the foods we eat daily. I hope to evaluate the benefits of organic food versus those of conventional food and then you can make your own decision based on my presentment. Organic food is an alternative to conventional food. It is marketed as pure, wholesome, natural, and still small scale. When I go shopping at the local grocery store I will purchase fresh produce such as carrots, potatoes, fruits, and meats to avoid all the chemicals that could very possibly be part of the nonorganic similar items. It is possible that the nonorganic carrots could very well be grown in soil that has been heavily fertilized year after year and/or sprayed with chemical pesticides. Does the price justify the product? These are a handful of questions that are commonplace, and there is little research to support either point of view. The popularity of an all–natural production of plant or animal products continues to grow, but purchasing behavior is highly influenced on marketing or an individual's personal beliefs. Although many people throughout the world believe that organic food is more beneficial than its conventional counterpart, the research does not support this claim. Contrarily, research indicates that there are few nutritional differences between organic and non–organic foods. The market for organic food has grown within recent years. However, the information to support the health benefits of organic food does not always come from respected sources. Through the use of evidence and explanations, the difference between organic and non–organic will be shown in depth providing for a decision to be made between the two. There are many food groups that can be divided between non–organic and organic foods the two that will be discussed today are meats and vegetables or fruits. Organic meats are any animals that aren't fed modified food. This means that animals such as cows, pigs, and even chickens are given food like grass and hay. This in order to be considered organic the animals must be able to live and walk among outdoors(Robinson, Segal 4). The food for the animals is also treated with natural methods to prevent diseases(Robinson, Segal 4). The main reason that people steer away from organic is the price compared to non–organic is more. In fact, the organic meat can cost more than 70% more than non–organic meats(Marks 14). Now let's talk about non–organic meat which has many differences compared to organic. The way organic meat is raised is different because it can be raised outdoors or inside crammed together with thousands of other animals(Robinson, Segal 4). • 73. Organics Vs Organic Food The term "organic" has been highly overrated throughout recent years. Considered to be better for the environment and for a person's health, organics are believed to be a better option when purchasing food, when in reality they are just as good compared to regular food. Even so, organics have more drawbacks rather than benefits. With organics high price, lack of nutritional value, and environmental upset, it is no wonder why a majority of the population chooses to purchase regular food over organics. While organics may be healthier compared to regular food, the high price of organics is impractical for members in the community. Money is a key factor for consumers when purchasing food and most people do not want to give in to the high price tag when there are other options for a better deal. A pound of beef for instance, costs $9.99 organically while a regular pound of beef only costs $6.49, according to a 2015 consumer report. Based on the lower price tag, people are more prone to buy the regular beef as they can gain a necessary source of protein yet sustain the budget they desire. . When purchasing food, prices need to be considered as the views of the buyers can be changed if a product is worth more than what they want to spend. Compared to organic food, it is more reasonable for people to purchase regular food as the lower price tag allows them to buy larger quantities and varieties.
