Who Is Ellen A Hero
Who actually sees a celebrity as a hero? In today's world many celebrities are seen as self–absorbed, don't care about anything other than their
appearance or gaining more wealth and fame. While on the other hand, I see that there are actually many celebrities, who see passed the same and
fortune and believe in doing good in society. Showing us the heroic side to the fame and money. One person who comes to mind when I think of these
qualities is Ellen DeGeneres. She may not be seen as your ordinary hero, but to me she is, showing off her wonderful traits of being thoughtful, caring,
and charitable.
All the celebrities seem to be on the tabloids for all the wrong reasons. Though Ellen has proved wrong of that stereotypical nonsense. Showing us, how
much thought and care she puts into her fans. Ellen is seen as the Ophrah Winfrey, of then newer generations. She has been known... Show more

Ellen has had a dramatic impact on not only one, but multiple charities all over the world, as has even been award as "People's Choice awards Favorite
Humanitarian", (Lawerence). She even raised money for her home town, New Orleans, when it was struck with Hurricane Katrina. Also she is a part
of many charities dealing with orphans, lgtb rights, disadvantages, abused victims, and women's rights. Another award, which she was awarded in
2009, by PETA was women of the year for the reason that a large portion of her money goes to animals, (PETA, 2009). As you can see Ellen isn't like
any other celebrity, she's a very kind and generous women. She puts her fans first, really looking into their heart and awarding them. Mostly
everything she does is from her heart, and she tries to give to everyone, not only with money or expensive gifts, but with joy and laughter. She creates
moments with her fans through games and pranks, so the next time you judge all celebrities as being self–center, think of Ellen and her heroic

Impact Of Celebrity Culture On Society
Celebrity culture is a growing issue that has been cultivated by the prosperity of social media in the modern world. Celebrity culture effects society in
many different ways both positive and negative, such as celebrities being portrayed as role models in the media, and corporations using celebrity
endorsement to gain clients from the existing fans of the celebrity used. The first article, titled 'Celebrity, youth culture and the question of role models'
discusses how celebrities are portrayed as good and bad role models in the media based upon previous actions. The author of the editorial piece was
'Kirsty Fairclough' who published the article to 'The Conversation' on September 15, 2015. Fairclough takes the side of celebrities being irresponsible
and not set for being role models of growing teenagers, as well as this, celebrities set extreme unreachable standards of physical beauty resulting in
mental illness. The second article, authored by 'George Monbiot' is titled 'Celebrity culture isn't just harmless fun – it's the smiling face of the corporate
machine'. The opinion piece was published in 'The Guardian' on the 21st of December 2016. It debates the effectiveness of celebrity endorsement by
large corporations in an attempt to reach out to existing fans of the celebrity. The third piece takes the form of a magazine cover from the magazine
'Who', the magazine publication was released on the 23rd of October 2017.

Hollister Co : Marketing Strategies
Hollister Co. was founded in 2000 and is based in Los Angeles, California. The company operates as a secondary business for Abercrombie & Fitch
Management. The company provides clothing and accessories for men and women. Hollister's main target consumers are teenagers. Hollister retails its
products through a chain of stores in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. They also sell their products online. The marketing
strategies that Hollister use to promote their products are by using a logo, a slogan, and informing what their products are pertaining too. Two of the
marketing strategies are very effective in attracting consumers while one of the marketing strategies needs more research to be done. Because of
Hollister's well known slogan, attractive logo, and the way they use celebrities to represent their product, this makes them unique compared to other
clothing businesses. Fashion designer logos are intended to be the "face" of a company. They are graphical displays of a company 's unique identity,
and through colors and fonts and images they provide important information about a company that allows customers to identify with the company 's
main product. Logos are also a shorthand way of referring to the company in advertising and marketing materials. Hollister's highly effective marketing
strategy used to target consumers is their logo. Their logo contains a picture of seagull that may come in many different colors or fonts, sometimes

City Of Angel Essay
Los Angeles is known as the city of angels but also it has been known that it contains a lot of immigrants and homeless. The city is located in the
southern part of California so it's no surprise that most people who live there are illegal immigrants. In some areas, it's full of homeless like in
downtown where most homeless life is at. Los Angeles is also known where most movies and shows are filmed. Things like the walk of fame,
Hollywood sign, and the Universal city is where most celebrities are more likely to appear. Although Los Angeles has it's ups and down it's still a
pretty good place to live.

Tuxedos, dresses, wedding dresses, and suits are seen in the windows of stores along with the prices. Some prices I've seen have been about 100–1000
dollars for some suits or tuxedos. There is also a marketplace that sells meat and vegetables at cheap prices that are all fresh. Vegetables from
different countries are found in the marketplace for people who want to recreate the food they have in their home country. In Downtown the more
further down you go there is where all the good stuff is sold. Weapons.toys, imported goods, and electronics are sold there. In every street, there are
about ten shops next to each other with every step that you take. It's very rare to not find something a person might need to not be at one of the
shops. Beauty supplies that are expensive are found for a very cheap price like 20 dollars. Although shops are great there is one place that people
usually never pass or go to due to the amount of homeless that live there. Skid Row is where a huge amount of homeless people live. Tents and
sleep bags are everywhere in that street. The street is so filled with homeless people that some homeless sleep on the side of the road due to not
having enough space in the street. People would go around skid row because people are scared entering with a possibility of them being rob. There
are no businesses in skid row so there is no reason for going there except for just taking a

Celebrity Air Biscuit: Cheryl Cole
Celebrities–they're just like us! For many of us, celebrities are these super–humans who always look flawless. We want to know everything about them:
how they dress, what they eat, and how they exercise. So, of course, whenever a celebrity shows a sign that they, too, actually are humans, it's exciting.

How are the Majority of Celebrities Inappropriate Role...
People look up to celebrities as role models, the youth especially. The youth believes that if they imitate these cynosures they will become affluent and
legendary. Famous people imply that if the youth act insubordinately they will be successful in life. Celebrities of today are not appropriate role
models for this generation.
A celebrity is a famous or well–known person, someone who has fame or is renowned (dictionary.com). When people think of a celebrity they think
of someone they would see on television, in magazines, or here about on the radio; those are the celebrities I am referring to here, but those aren't the
only celebrities out there. There are also other interpretations for the word celebrity. My favorite alternative to the typical thought of a celebrity is the
term local celebrity. A local celebrity or hometown celebrity doesn't have to be rich or world famous, they are known for doing something that has
either impacted the local area or has made his/her hometown proud. My focus is on the quintessential definition of celebrity, the ones that are known
for their influence on the current generation, my generation.
The current generation is easily influenced because it is completely focused on being accepted by society and trying to find ones individual identity.
The youth of my generation believe that their identity is based on society's acceptance; not on their own thoughts, desires, and opinions of themselves.
Most celebrities 'preach' about individuality to

The Purpose of Propaganda in Today's Society
Propaganda in today's society serves the same purpose as it did many years ago, and that purpose is to promote a fitting solution to a problem or to
sell an idea or item. There are various types of propaganda in the world. The main way that propaganda is advertised would be the media. Whether it
be television, newspapers, radio etc . the "promoter"advertiser will always find a way to promote their idea or product. You also have seven basic
sections or types of propaganda; transfer, testimonial, glittering generalities, plain folks, bandwagon, name calling and card stacking. Each of these is
used in propaganda whether it is current and modern art forms such as Nikeв„ў commercials or from 100 years ago in political cartoons. Each of the
seven types of propaganda differs and is unique in their its own way. Propaganda is, has always been, and shall continue to be, a huge part of the
advertising world of society.
Transfer is a type of propaganda in which the media utilizes a person or object that people find good–natured or intriguing, and they associate the
person or object with a product. In this form of propaganda, symbols are constantly being utilized. Most political campaign promotion posters contain
the transfer category. Some ads such as icy hot and cleaning products use well known people or well–known people's names to promote their product.
Take Shaquille O'Neal's commercials for the Icy Hot patches for example. People pay attention to the ad because they see that

Summary Of The Faces In The Mirror By Ty Burr
Why are people so fascinated with celebrities? What makes people want to be like them? What are celebrities actually like? Facing these tough
questions, Ty Burr in his essay "The Faces in the Mirror" forces readers to question their own answers. By explaining the history of celebrities and
the worship of them, he gives readers a wealth of knowledge. Wisely, Burr immediately establishes his credibility so that readers know they can trust
his educated point of view. His essay is full of strong logic. However, it lacks a substantial amount of hardcore facts. Furthermore, Burr effortlessly
snatches the reader's attention by using dramatic statements and achieving a sense of pathos. Burr's authority on the topic, along with his convincing
logic, and dramatic statements allow his essay to achieve a remarkable persuasiveness to his essay.
In his essay, Burr instantly creates a sense of ethos. Within the first two paragraphs, Burr articulated that he is a "professional film critic for a major
metropolitan daily newspaper" (Burr 31). Because of this statement, he gained credibility on the subject of actors. Additionally, he has "interviewed a
number of actors and directors, ingГ©nues and legends" (Burr 31). Burr makes sure to give some examples of especially famous stars that he has
interviewed to further provide credibility. Some include: Steve Carell, Laura Linney, and Kevin Spacey (Burr 33). Throughout his essay, Burr takes a
position of authority on the subject and writes with intense confidence in his knowledge. Furthermore, readers swiftly realize that Burr has done plenty
of research to make readers ponder their position. By proving his credibility, Burr quickly and efficiently snatches the reader's attention and gives them
a reason to want to continue reading.
Using a long string of logic, Burr's writing is primarily the history of America's cultural obsession with celebrities. While his logic is simple to
understand, it is absolutely intelligible. Although he doesn't provide nearly enough hardcore facts, Burr makes sure to include a few facts in an effort
to further his point. For instance, he draws attention to the fact that "the man who shot and killed John Lennon...made sure to get his autograph first"

Using Celebrities In Advertising By Sue Jozui
Many companies are using celebrities to promote for a certain kind of product. Sue Jozui in her passage, arguing that using celebrities in advertising are
insulting the intelligence of the audience, and this kind of advertising should be boycotting. The author supports her argument by first giving examples
of celebrities using some kinds of products and promoting for them, she continues by calling authorities to stop this kind of advertising. The author's
purpose is to show that using celebrities in advertising is misleading and insulting in order to stop this kind of advertising and legislate rules and
guidelines for advertising. The author Sue writes in critical tone for consumers and authorities. However, the consumers are not forced to buy anything

New Strands Of Goods And Services From Brand Name Companies
Crooks gain large lump sums of goods and services from brand name companies that are more likely to use celebrities to advertise for them. Imitators
hit big well–known companies because they would be willfully giving, if they think that a famous person would want to advertise their brand. So they
profit on asking brand name companies for merchandise. Sharks prosper massive amounts of goods and services through targeting a familiarized
company. Scammers accumulate goods and services from top notch companies since they are more likely to believe that celebrity would ask for it.
Pretenders attain expensive goods and services by relaying to a widely known company that a famous celebrity is interested in testing or trying the
item out. Thus, con artist go for big because companies believe that those celebrities would want to have that brand in their possession. With today's
new strands of technology it is very difficult for companies to depict if that celebrity wanted their products, goods or services.
There are many ways such as computers, telephones or even mail that can be sent out from and to any company. To state it differently brand name
companies do not pay attention to where or even if that celebrity asked for merchandise or service. All they care about is the name of the celebrity who
asked for it. Obviously merchants disregard all other things when it comes down to getting a celebrity to advertise for them. Brand name companies
only think about having their merchandise

Celebrity Culture : The Impact Of Celebrity Culture On...
Living in a technological era, we have access to the tabloids more than ever before. There are social media platforms, magazines, online news sites,
and movies screaming to be read and watched; and they are covered with images of high profile celebrities. We are living in the century of media
innovation together with the development of celebrity culture.
When a life of parties, short–term relationships, drugs, and alcohol are leading celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Lindsay Lohan to spiral
out of control, you would think that their lifestyle is far from the ideal. However, fans of these stars seem to disagree. Now, in an age where we have
more contact with celebrity gossip than ever before, we are faced with a question: what are the effects that superstars have upon our society?
One of the most dramatic impacts of celebrity culture on consumer behaviour is the emphasis on personal appearance and self–image. While some
consumers may emulate the looks and style of their icons, others simply feel pressured to look more muscular or glamorous to fit with the idealised
images of beauty in which they are bombarded with each day. From the full–figured beauties depicted by Renaissance painters, to the hourglass figure
prized by the Victorians, and from the boyish physique of the 1920s flappers to the shapely curves of 1950s Hollywood stars, there have always been
changing fashions in body shape. In today's era of Twitter, Instagram, blogs, and memes, the latest body

The Role Celebricities Play in Peoples Life
Today public figures such as celebrities are looked up to by people of all ages. Often viewed as role models, celebrities appear on television with
the entire world watching, and are known for their wealth, talent and fame. A role model is defined as "A person who serves as an example of the
values, attitudes, and behaviors associated with a role. " ("Role model." Definition 1. Web). Whether celebrities enjoy being in the spotlight or
not, they are looked up to by millions of people around the world and thus have a social obligation to behave well. Such role models have an effect
on the lives of people in society as they have the ability to shape the views, ideas, and actions of their fans. It is important for celebrities to be
positive and responsible in displaying good morals and values because many individuals are dependent on the media role models of today.
Because of the large role celebrities play in society they should be obligated to be positive and influential role models. Many individuals would
argue that in celebrities' private lives, they should not have to act as a positive influential role, as they are out of the spotlight. After all it is their
private life, so technically it should be no one's concern what they do in their free time. However, before people become celebrities, they are aware of
the little to no privacy they are going to receive from the public. This is one of the unfortunate disadvantages of being famous. With the media and

positive effect on society and should become more popular. More celebrities should become activists because activists have a long successful history,
celebrity activism helps draw attention to all different kinds of issues & activism gives celebrities an opportunity to use their wealth for the good of

It is a fact that nowadays the media industry has contributed incredibly to promote the ideas of today 's society. Even more has contributed to the
effort to eliminate the taboo most of them sexual orientation issues or homophobic issues through various campaigns. A very common combination
for projecting an issue through the media and with great appeal in the audience is the promotion and topic view from famous celebrities that they
have huge resonance to young people. It is also well known that the projection of a subject in a provocative way has more impact because everything
that causes shock to the audience discussed more, and therefore the impact will be greater. The question is whether it is exploitable the content of the

Comparing Plato And Shakespeare's Rage Against The Machine
Plato and Shakespeare have something in common, not only words, but they also have written fantastic quotes about how music makes the world turn.
''If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,The appetite may sicken, and so die.''–Shakespeare in Twelfth Night, Act I
scene i ("Musical Quotes and Inspiration.") Plato said "Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the
imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." ("Plato Quotes.") You see music ties together many different types of people, poets,
philosophers, and many different cultures. Music has historical lyrics, political meanings, and emotional support for the people who ask for it or
need it. The ancient hawaiians used musicians as historians and their history was in their chants. People of all cultures in all places still do this in
their music. As an example The song Renegades Of Funk is a song by Rage Against the Machine which surprisingly talks about historical and
scientific things. The song sounds like a song that is just trying to get people up and to dance. It has hidden historical lyrics and meaning that you
may not realize. Rage Against The Machine is a great band for social reasons because they will tell you things people in your life won't.... Show more

As stated by Mark Young and Drew Pinsky in their research, " they did not find that narcissism was related to how long someone had been acelebrity,
which might suggest that narcissistic individuals are drawn to the celebrity lifestyle (rather than the celebrity lifestyle gradually turning celebrities into

What Does It Mean To Be Popular
Popularity in Today's Society When most people think of popular people they think of bullies or people who are just popular because they are
mean so they put themselves above others, which is true and I agree that there are people who are popular because of that, but there is also people
who are friends with everyone and are nice to everyone and there isn't a single person who doesn't like them. I'm not going to make this essay
about bullying but more of what popularity means to me and how important I think it is to be popular. What does being "popular" mean exactly,
well if you look up the word popularity "the state or condition of being liked, admired, or supported by many people" will be what comes up. How
does someone become popular is a more important question. Most people become popular by going over the top of others, by putting themselves
above others and thinking that they are more important than them. Which to me isn't true popularity, if I had to choose I wouldn't use the word
popular because it's a word that popular people like to use, but to me to be popular is to be nice to everyone and work to where you are and not have to
hurt others to make the way to the top. There is people who are popular by pushing over others and there are people who are popular because they

It is obvious that celebrity news is an outlet that sells, as seen by the numerous tabloids and entertainment shows. The public has an interest in what is
going on in the lives of these rich and glamorous people. This brings on a form of mediated voyeurism, which can be defined as, "the consumption of
revealing images and information about others' real and unguarded lives, not always for the purpose of entertainment but frequently at the expense of
privacy and discourse, through the means of the mass media" (Calvert, 2000). Basically saying that the public has a need to see these famous people
and learn about their lives, even at the risk of invading their privacy. The tabloids simply exploit the public's desire to learn these things, regardless of
the ethical issues of invading a human being's privacy. They know people will buy it and that they will make money.
I think that to be an ethical journalist it is important to empathize with the person whose life is about to be splashed on the papers. Of course there is
the matter of getting the story and pleasing the readers and the editor, but it should take into account the public's real right to know. A story about the
health of someone like the President of the United States might be something worth printing, because knowing how he is medically is of public interest
because this is a man that is running the country.

Celebrity Culture Forms Real World Distractions

10 Nov. 2016 Celebrity Culture Forms Real–World Distractions
"Celebrity and media culture are probably the most overbearing pop–culture conditions that we as young people have to deal with, because it forces us
to judge ourselves." Lady Gaga perfectly describes the corrupt system of celebrity culture. Fame and celebrity culture is nothing new to human nature.
As humans progressed from hunting and gathering, people who have been skilled in war, sports, and art have captured people's undivided attention. As a
result, celebrity gossip is an unhealthy distraction that undermines public discourse and sidetracks people from far more important issues. Celebrities
are exploited as products to society, set an unrealistic standard of beauty, and the military having to face improper discrimination and a lack of
support compared to professional athletes. Celebrity culture has banished the real from the public. Thirty years ago, the only celebrities were ones in
movies. Breakfast at Tiffany 's skyrocketed Audrey Hepburn 's talented acting career. As a result, Audrey remains one of Hollywood's greatest movie
stars and the world's most successful actresses. Now celebrities are everywhere––Talk–show hosts, lawyers, musicians and teenagers. Although some
may be entertained by celebrity gossip, the chatter that passes the news ultimately distracts people from important issues. Divorces of celebrities are

What Does Beauty Mean?
What does beauty mean to you? Often times people surgically change their appearance to feel better about themselves. A Majority of the time people
are unsatisfied with their bodies, so they alter their looks. These individuals look up to celebrities who have paid thousands of dollars to look a
particular way. Cosmetic surgeons are being bombarded by star struck clients demanding specific features of celebrities. Some of the victims believe
that getting surgery to look like a celebrity will put them on track to becoming famous. Becoming famous is often vital to this kind of crowd, so they
will do whatever it will take to draw further attention to themselves.
Aspiring celebrities tend to go the whole nine yards to be beautiful; they will go to extreme measures for attention. The most common thing an aspiring
artist/celebrity would do to become a bigger brand is exploiting themselves. Different ways a celebrity can exploit themselves is displaying nudity, and
receiving plastic surgery. As stated, "I'm Doing it with class, cause I got a big ass" this quote was stated by superstar Kimberly Noel Kardashian also

Companies are Tricking People Through Marketing...
Companies use advertisements as a mirror for their products. They use advertisements to encourage, persuade, or manipulate their audience. The
most important factor for the company is how the advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help them gauge
social trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know what people like, value, or need the most at a certain time.
They consider all of these factors when promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products. Companies have been
successful with marketing advertisement because people usually pay too much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for them,
while trying to buy something. The first and second advertisements are about how the corporations use Disney characters and happy kids on food
or toys products. Many food and toys, especially geared for children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy 'this', you
have a chance to win 'this' which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big prize offered. Many things geared towards the
children have a big impact on the child who then makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to promote
yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Also all children are looking for that happiness and joy but when they buy it they

creating micro–celebrities with the click of a mouse or swipe of a finger. Influencer, as known as internet celebrity or Wang Hong in China, is a nascent
term to describe those who gain huge influence and have built favorable reputation by means of social media. In the cyber world, netizens just cannot
help discussing about internet celebrities. What they have worn, what they have said and even how they live are magnifying by their followers, in
which many of internet celebrities translate their audience's attention into profit. Sina Weibo once summarized business models of Internetcelebrity as
follows: Create a pretty and fashionable self–image, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it doesn't mean that influencer marketing is dead. Influencer marketing agencies are success drivers first because they are trusted to choose the right
influencers. As long as audiences trust their influencers, influencer marketing will not be dead. It is down to the agencies but the influencers also play
their part. Another aspect to consider is that influencer marketing agencies that have a more manual approach will progressively put themselves out of
business. Technological businesses will gradually replace them because they know how to get a one to one relationship with the influencers but also to
identify them through technology. Many people tend to conciliate influence with popularity. Influencers are not only ideas maker; they also have a
highly engaged community. The first objective of influencer marketing is not only to generate viral content but to interact and engage with a target
audience through the influencer's voice. All in all, influencer marketing is evolving at a rapid pace and will continue to

Celebrities Should Be Role Models
No matter what celebrities are looked up upon by somebody, making them a role model. Celebrities should be considered role models. Celebrities
can come in any shape or form or can be famous for multiple reasons. The reasons behind celebrities being considered role models are as following,
they have a huge following of supporters, they can help with causes, and they are very inspirational. Overall, celebrities should be role models.
Out of the many reasons backing up celebrities being role models one of the reasons would be that they have a huge following of people that
either support them or know of them. With this comes a lot of power that they can use for good. Celebrities could use this following to help kids
who look up to them. If the superstar stayed in school and did not do drugs then the kids and teens that look up to them will do the same thing. They
would think that they do not have to ditch school and do drugs to be cool. Celebrities could also use their spotlight to show people different
experiences. For example, if a moviestar post on their social media platform that they are going to go take a hike up to the hollywood sign, then the
followers might want to do the same thing that maybe they would have never done before. Which, by doing so may show the person that they love
hiking or being outside, giving them a new healthy hobby. Celebrities show their followers different things all the time that they may not have known
before making them a role model.

Celebrity Endorsement Marketing Campaigns
Celebrity endorsement is a billion dollar industries today (Kambitsis et al., 2002) with companies signing deals with celebrities hoping that they can
help them stand out from the clutter and give them a unique and relevant position in the mind of the consumer. According to Solomon (2002), the
reasons for using celebrity endorsement involves its potential to create awareness, positive feelings towards their advertising and brand. Research has
shown that celebrity endorsement can have an impact on the consumer's attention, recall, evaluations and purchase intentions (Atkin and Block, 1993),

Self image has been research in the context of celebrity endorsement, and established that it is an important factor in marketing (Fortini–Cambell,
1992). Some of the respondents told stories of how they were influenced by celebrity endorsement when they were younger. One person referenced
Michael Jordan and his endorsement of the Nike shoes. This reflects self image when considering what to buy and what influenced them. It also
reflects a need to be different as well as the same time identify with a group of people. Apparently this can go both ways. If one product gets too
popular among a certain group it can actually make others choose another product even though they like it. Companies may also use celebrities to try
to control or manipulate the consumer into buying the endorsed product. This may have a negative impact, as consumers may view the celebrities as
being puppets for the company. Companies are using celebrities to influence the consumers' behavior in a certain direction, at the same time the
consumer often may perceive the celebrity to by lying when indorsing certain products. For example, many a celebrity has been photographed while
enjoying a cold Pepsi much to the dismay of the marketing department for Coke that they are promoting. The celebrity is no longer perceived as

Analyzing Three Groups Of Advertisements Based On The...
After reading "Which Ad Pulled Best", I am going to analysis three groups of advertisements based on the criterions provide by the reading. The
first one is Example 19, an advertisement about Timex Watch. I think the second ad did a better job than the first one. To start with, when I saw
the second ad, I can easily recognize the benefit the product offers compare to the first one. In the second ad, it named out the benefit in the upper
page, which is The Timer Turn & Pill Alarm Watch, More convenient than any excuse. When I read this heading, I can know what unique feature
that Timex offers that different from other watch makers. In the middle of the page it uses three scenarios to show the alarm feature of this watch.
All three scenarios are very common in our everyday life. So when people read this ad, they may think about themselves in that situation. And when
I saw this part of the ad, I know what message the advertiser what to convey when you buy this watch, you can avoid all those situations and this
watch will keep you be on time for everything. When looking carefully, you will see there are some figures teach you how to set the alarm. In this
way, people can easily understand how to use it. At the bottom of the page, there are a few sentences to further explain how to use the alarm system
and also introduce two more features, which are sound and light flash. Also, this ad is advertised in People magazine, which is a general audience
weekly magazine, focusing on

The Impact Of Public Figures As A Role Models On Children
Do we want young teen girls living in a world where it's normal for boys to call them "a fat piglet"? Many famous celebrities act inappropriately in
the public eye. Since they're so famous, if they do anything that should be considered wrong, no one really thinks of it as a mistake. For example,
if someone at school hit, called someone an inappropriate name, everyone would make a big deal out of it. However, if a popular basketball player
hit his wife, it isn't published in news sources and showed to the public as much as it should be. Furthermore, public figures being perceived as a role
model affects children in negative ways because they act inappropriately in the public eye, are violent, and break laws. Many celebrities think it's okay
to act improper in public because they're famous. Look at the president of the United States, Donald Trump, he has social media and some of the things
he says and puts for everyone to see is a little much sometimes. There is a video of Trump in an interview a couple years back calling Khloe
Kardashian "a fat piglet". If a teen girl saw that video one day and she was insecure about her looks, that video isn't going to make her feel better
about herself. Statistics show in 2011–2013 there was 10.9 per 100,000 teens who committed suicide. A lot of those teens were assumably insecure,
feeling unaccepted in the world, dealing with depression, and felt like they were alone in the world. Letting public figures say disrespectful and cruel

Celebrity Stereotypes
I have read through five articles of celebrity gossip on blogger, Perez Hilton's website. Some of the articles were older and I also read the up to date
gossip. In my opinion, the function of celebrity gossip in today's society is to help the fame of any celebrity. The purpose of the negative or positive
information is only going to help or hurt the celebrity and in some cases, such as Janet Jackson's breast being reviled at the Super Bowl, helped her
more than it hurt her. As for blogs about celebrities helping maintain stability and order in our society, I believe that it serves no purpose and also
create false perceptions of the real world. Today's youth can easily be influenced by the celebrity gossip. The media and blogs create a distortion

Analysis of the Representation of Women in Magazines Essay
Analysis of the Representation of Women in Magazines
In this essay, I am going to analyse how girls and women are represented in a range of magazines. Depending on the target audience, the contents of
the magazine differs. This essay will look and describe the differences between the magazines and why they are there. The age groups and magazines I
will be examining are; teenage with the magazine 'Sneak,' twenty something's with the magazine 'Glamour,' and middle aged with the magazine
'Women's Own.' I will give a general overview of each target audience and what is represented.
I will begin with 'Sneak' and the target audience of teenagers. Although aimed at teenagers, many eight and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
'Glamour' is aimed mainly at late teens to late twenties. When flicking through the magazine, I noticed that there was more text and adverts. This
reflects how the age–group has more time and disposable income. Also, 'Glamour' was the most expensive magazine, being ВЈ1.90 and included a
website, (see figure 2,) which again indicates a higher disposable income and extra time. The front cover yet again includes an hourglass shaped
celebrity, but she is older, although she still conforms to the dominant ideology for a young female. The magazine includes the latest fashion and
make–up styles, but on a much larger scale when compared to 'Sneak.' "MASSIVE FASHION SPECIAL: 1322 HOT NEW LOOKS." It again
includes problem pages, but the problems are mainly on lifestyle or sex, instead of dating. 'Glamour' also advertises to the stereotypical women using
its front page with the advert; "20% off SHOES At Faith for every reader." Magazines can use this effectively, because it represents the expectations
reflected by society and the media.
'Women's Own' is mostly aimed at middle aged housewives, although older people do read it, because it would give them a chance of extended
youth. The front cover for the magazine, (see figure 3,) is dramatically different. It has older soap celebrities, who some women would be able to
relate to. The people on the cover are less bothered about

The Pros And Cons Of Advertising
In just one click, tap, or quick glance; and advertisement may be spotted. Many appear on a billboard, in the papers, on a website, or just on an
everyday household televisions. A great amount of the youth come across advertisements in between "Youtube" videos. Product promotions tend to sell
with facts, women, captivating pictures, and celebrities. Celebrities who endorse brands or products boost previous consumer confidence, consumer
demographics or size, and the overall sells. The best commercials with celebrity endorsements are usually funny, as they are more memorable.
"Snickers" used Betty White in one of the "You're not you when you're hungry" campaigns. "Old Spice" also participated in the celebrity trend, using
Terry Crews in many of the "Smell is Power" commercials. Even Neil Patrick–Harris, a comedian who starred in How I Met Your Mother, is partnered
with the "Heineken" beer commercials. There are also plenty of other celebrity endorsed products. Betty white is a wonderful older woman at the
age of 95, many know her from The Golden Girls, is a comedian and actress who has been in the business since the 1950s. In 2014 White was in a
"Snickers" Superbowl ad. Within the commercial, White was very roughly playing football and is tackled into some mud. Seeing an older sarcastic
lady thrown down into the dirt is not easily forgotten. The commercial plays on the pathos in the appeals. Suggesting if viewers eat the chocolate bar

Hayek's Impact On Society
Today the line between breaking news and paid advertisements has become quite blurry. Add to that the propensity for celebrities, and regular citizens,
to comment on both through social media platforms, and reaching thousands, if not millions of people, it is no wonder we are losing our sense of
individuality. The internet makes not only news stories easily accessible, but also allows people to follow and look into other people's lives. "Advances
within technology and information have enabled ordinary individuals' to organized, spread their word and gain attention on an international scale"
(Cooper 6). "The rise of social media has played a large role in propelling social consciousness, with celebrities posting their own impassioned PSA's ...

Despite the distance Hayek traveled, media outlets like, ABC News: Nightline followed her, filming an episode during her trip. Hayek couldn't
possibly argue she was simply a humanitarian because most people who travel to do volunteer work, are not closely followed by a camera trying to
film a media worthy episode. The goal for most is to volunteer and hopefully leave knowing they have made a difference, as opposed to going to film
for a newscast to entertain millions and to gain positive PR. Hayek preoccupied the media for a different reason than she intended, "Hayek's advocacy
for tetanus prevention among expectant mothers is not what preoccupied commentators or celebrity observers who saw this episode of Nightline.
Rather, the fact that Hayek breastfed a Sierra Leonean baby was" (Benton 188). Hayek received varying messages, including high praise and
criticism. People began questioning if it was for the sake of television or if it was a true act of heroism. There are many elements of humanitarianism
and it is not as simple as just having compassion. Unfortunately, hierarchies of privilege often play a part in humanitarianism even if they shouldn't.
Hayek might have entered Sierra Leone with good intentions, but with her celebrity status and a camera crew in tow, her visit brought forth unintended
consequences and created more harm than good. She might have intended to make a difference, but her trip had many critics wondering if her actions
were simply for the sake of good

An Advertisement On Interest And Entertainment Websites Essay
This paper will focus on advertisements that are strategically placed on interest /entertainment and companies' websites. The goal of these
advertisements is to trigger problem recognition. I will further explain how each advertisement chosen was placed there to trigger a problem that
needed to be solved.
General Interest / Entertainment Web Site
The two entertainment websites I found trigger problem recognition advertisements on are people.com and foxnews.com. Both advertisements were
very well placed and focused on saving money, everyone can always learn more ways to make their financial situations better. On people.com there was
an advertisement that encourages opening an American express account. On foxnews.com there was an advertisement encouraging viewers to save one
hundred dollars at Best Buy for a Dell computer.
Web Site Chosen
I choose to discuss how American Express' advertisement was strategically placed on people.com. The advertisement is encouraging people to have an
account through American Express. This advertisement is a trigger because some people look to celebrities for their fashion guidance, idolizing their
images. This means they go to any extreme to make a purchase and that includes taking on credit to make it happen.
The trigger of the advertisement is the possible need for money the browser may have.
A person can be on the site looking at some shoes a celebrity is wearing, valued at nine hundred dollars. An impulsive shopper may see the said

What Makes Celebrity Worship?

Nesbitt

Stop Following Celebrities! Everyone has that one friend who is head over heels in love with a celebrity. They will always follow them and say that
a celebrity is their hero; but there is a serious difference between a hero and a celebrity. The people who seem like they can't stop following acelebrity
or can't tell the difference between following a celebrity or hero might have celebrity worship syndrome. This is a real psychological disorder of the
brain. According to Sensagent Online Dictionary, Celebrity worship syndrome is "an Obsessive–Addictive disorder where a person becomes overly

This means that they would constantly have fantasies about a celebrity and do thing that they might not even realize they are doing. These people
feel like if they needed any sort of help that their celebrity would be there to save them. It is like they worship their celebrity as a god. Fortunately, the
majority of the people they tested fell within the first two categories, but the test that the psychologists did revealed how prevalent celebrities were in
people's daily lives.
Celebrity worship can develop from just being a psychological thing to actually hurting your brain. Doctors Maltby, Houran, Ashe, McCutcheon
suggest that if a person has a high level of celebrity worship then they also have a high level of anxiety and depression.
They also state that people might very well want to change the way they look because in their eyes the feel inadequate compared to the celebrity so
they will body shame themselves and try to look and act just like their favorite celebrities.
An example of this is a man by the name of Toby Shelton, who spent over $100,000 dollars in plastic surgery to look like Justin Bieber. Not only
was this man 33 years old, but he was also obsessed with Justin Bieber in general. He ultimately ruined his body with plastic surgery (Daily Mail
Reporter).

Literary Celebrities: How Fame Can Alter A Persona
Literary Celebrities; How Fame Can Alter A Persona
At the beginning of the 21st century we are all living in a world of celebrities, who are increasingly playing powerful roles in politics, economics, and
naturally in society as a whole. The term celebrity has been around since the early 1840s in our society, however the meaning of the word has alternated
in the contemporary Western world. Garland stated in his article thatcelebrity culture was already in place at least 2,000 years ago; "celebrity has a
very long history and many of the indications of a celebrity culture were already in place in classical antiquity." (484). Even though some authors in
the 1800s and 1900s can be considered literary celebrities, it definitely does not compare to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Attempting to Pin Down a Definition of Childhood Essay
The term 'Childhood' has always be hard to define as it will vary from each person, every person would have experienced a childhood but how they
define theirs is a different story. 'Childhood is the time for children to be in school and at play, to grow strong and confident with the love and
encouragement of their family and an extended community of caring adults.'(UNICEF, 2005). From a psychological view childhood would be defined
as the space between birth and attainment of adulthood; but it is far more than that, it a special time where the child children are safe from violence, free
from fear, protected from exploitation and abuse and free to explore the treasures of life. In the UK there is no official age when you are no longer a ...

When asked, many celebrities (sports figures, actors, musicians) state that they don't want to be role models.'(Cohen, E 2005;384)Aristotle would

and take the responsibilities seriously.
Banduras work on social learning shown that much of learning that occurs during development is acquired through observation and imitation.
'Behaviour is learned from the environment through the process of observational learning' (1977), 'Children observe the people around them
behaving in various ways.'(1961). When this topic is brought to light many of us would agree that children learn best from role models and choose to
imitate the behaviour they desire. In today society there are enough negative role models for children to choose from. Both adolescents and children
copy the appearances and actions of those in movies, music videos, videos and television. However, today's society especially the media are not
modelling pro–social behaviour or promoting family values. Many parents fear to think of their child imitating actions from a 'negative role model'.

Positive Role Models
People see them everywhere; on the television, on magazines, and on the internet; celebrities. Since they are in the media so much, they are constantly
influencing society, especially younger audiences. These celebrities are not positive role models for today's youth. They are not positive role models
because they make people believe dangerous, and untrue information regarding health, appearance is more important than everything else, and that
more money means more respect. Everyday people are paying attention to celebrity's advice, since they seem to be very successful. They want to
listen to their advice to make their own lives prosperous. However, some of this advice can be more harmful than beneficial. For example, many
celebrities share medical advice that can be damaging. Liz Szabo writes, "Many doctors say they're troubled by stars who cross the line from
sharing their stories to championing questionable or even dangerous medical advice" (Szabo). Celebrities are sharing medical advice that is doing
more harm than good. On the contrary, some people will argue that they share more beneficial advice. Diana Gorgos states, "These spokespersons can
also prompt people to get screened for cancer, concludes a new study. It found that a televised colon cancer awareness campaign by Katie Couric was
temporally associated with an increase in colonoscopy use" (Gorgos). Although some celebrities share good medical advice, many share harmful
information. Szabo further writes, "when

65 Years: Then and Now
Society changed 65 years ago to make the world a better place. Martin Luther King Jr. gave an amazing speech on racism and how all society
should be treated equal. Know in days, it's not the same as before. We tend to see a lot of racism whether it's through TV, articles, or what have now
which is social media. Many people have changed their view on equal society and people don't seem to care what a man with courage once fought for
and changed. One of the ways equal society has changed is through TV. With presidential elections going on right now, we seeDonald Trump as an
example. "Blacks, and to a lesser extent Hispanics, suffer much higher rates of robbery and homicide victimization than do whites..." (Huffingpost
1). Donald Trump has come on talking about how all illegal immigrants coming from MГ©xico are all criminals and drug dealers. He wants to
deport all immigrants back to their countries because he assumes they are bad people. He also wants to build a wall in border of California and Mexico
to keep the immigrant away. This is a form of racism because he just assumes people are bad without getting to know their true intentions of coming
to the US. He claims all Islamic people are bad people and also wants them deported back to Islam because they are very dangerous people. He asserts
that all black people in fact are lazy and are as well criminals. Donald Trump is quickly to judge people and he should think about his ancestry because

TEXTING
Texting is a huge part of everyone's daily lives and has given us the ability to communicate with anybody around the world without speaking a
word, which is a powerful thing. We could be in our college classes and texting friends in a group chat while our friends are all in a different
location in the world. This reality of being able to communicate with anybody any time has an impact on what our sense of community is. Texting can
be problematic to speaking to a person or a group of people, because according Professor Mehrabia, "communication is only 7 percent verbal and 93
percent non–verbal. The non–verbal component was made up of body language (55 percent) and tone of voice (38percent)."(http://ubiquity.acm.org

Who Is Ellen A Hero

  • 1. Who Is Ellen A Hero Who actually sees a celebrity as a hero? In today's world many celebrities are seen as self–absorbed, don't care about anything other than their appearance or gaining more wealth and fame. While on the other hand, I see that there are actually many celebrities, who see passed the same and fortune and believe in doing good in society. Showing us the heroic side to the fame and money. One person who comes to mind when I think of these qualities is Ellen DeGeneres. She may not be seen as your ordinary hero, but to me she is, showing off her wonderful traits of being thoughtful, caring, and charitable. All the celebrities seem to be on the tabloids for all the wrong reasons. Though Ellen has proved wrong of that stereotypical nonsense. Showing us, how much thought and care she puts into her fans. • 2. Impact Of Celebrity Culture On Society Celebrity culture is a growing issue that has been cultivated by the prosperity of social media in the modern world. Celebrity culture effects society in many different ways both positive and negative, such as celebrities being portrayed as role models in the media, and corporations using celebrity endorsement to gain clients from the existing fans of the celebrity used. The first article, titled 'Celebrity, youth culture and the question of role models' discusses how celebrities are portrayed as good and bad role models in the media based upon previous actions. The author of the editorial piece was 'Kirsty Fairclough' who published the article to 'The Conversation' on September 15, 2015. Fairclough takes the side of celebrities being irresponsible and not set for being role models of growing teenagers, as well as this, celebrities set extreme unreachable standards of physical beauty resulting in mental illness. The second article, authored by 'George Monbiot' is titled 'Celebrity culture isn't just harmless fun – it's the smiling face of the corporate machine'. The opinion piece was published in 'The Guardian' on the 21st of December 2016. It debates the effectiveness of celebrity endorsement by large corporations in an attempt to reach out to existing fans of the celebrity. The marketing strategies that Hollister use to promote their products are by using a logo, a slogan, and informing what their products are pertaining too. Two of the marketing strategies are very effective in attracting consumers while one of the marketing strategies needs more research to be done. Because of Hollister's well known slogan, attractive logo, and the way they use celebrities to represent their product, this makes them unique compared to other clothing businesses. Fashion designer logos are intended to be the "face" of a company. The city is located in the southern part of California so it's no surprise that most people who live there are illegal immigrants. In some areas, it's full of homeless like in downtown where most homeless life is at. Los Angeles is also known where most movies and shows are filmed. Things like the walk of fame, Hollywood sign, and the Universal city is where most celebrities are more likely to appear. Although shops are great there is one place that people usually never pass or go to due to the amount of homeless that live there. Skid Row is where a huge amount of homeless people live. • 6. How are the Majority of Celebrities Inappropriate Role... People look up to celebrities as role models, the youth especially. The youth believes that if they imitate these cynosures they will become affluent and legendary. Famous people imply that if the youth act insubordinately they will be successful in life. Celebrities of today are not appropriate role models for this generation. A celebrity is a famous or well–known person, someone who has fame or is renowned (dictionary.com). When people think of a celebrity they think of someone they would see on television, in magazines, or here about on the radio; those are the celebrities I am referring to here, but those aren't the only celebrities out there. There are also other interpretations for the word celebrity. My favorite alternative to the typical thought of a celebrity is the term local celebrity. A local celebrity or hometown celebrity doesn't have to be rich or world famous, they are known for doing something that has either impacted the local area or has made his/her hometown proud. My focus is on the quintessential definition of celebrity, the ones that are known for their influence on the current generation, my generation. The current generation is easily influenced because it is completely focused on being accepted by society and trying to find ones individual identity. The youth of my generation believe that their identity is based on society's acceptance; not on their own thoughts, desires, and opinions of themselves. Most celebrities 'preach' about individuality to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Purpose of Propaganda in Today's Society Propaganda in today's society serves the same purpose as it did many years ago, and that purpose is to promote a fitting solution to a problem or to sell an idea or item. There are various types of propaganda in the world. The main way that propaganda is advertised would be the media. Whether it be television, newspapers, radio etc . the "promoter"advertiser will always find a way to promote their idea or product. You also have seven basic sections or types of propaganda; transfer, testimonial, glittering generalities, plain folks, bandwagon, name calling and card stacking. Each of these is used in propaganda whether it is current and modern art forms such as Nikeв„ў commercials or from 100 years ago in political cartoons. Each of the seven types of propaganda differs and is unique in their its own way. Propaganda is, has always been, and shall continue to be, a huge part of the advertising world of society. Transfer is a type of propaganda in which the media utilizes a person or object that people find good–natured or intriguing, and they associate the person or object with a product. In this form of propaganda, symbols are constantly being utilized. Most political campaign promotion posters contain the transfer category. Some ads such as icy hot and cleaning products use well known people or well–known people's names to promote their product. Take Shaquille O'Neal's commercials for the Icy Hot patches for example. • 8. Summary Of The Faces In The Mirror By Ty Burr Why are people so fascinated with celebrities? What makes people want to be like them? What are celebrities actually like? Facing these tough questions, Ty Burr in his essay "The Faces in the Mirror" forces readers to question their own answers. By explaining the history of celebrities and the worship of them, he gives readers a wealth of knowledge. Wisely, Burr immediately establishes his credibility so that readers know they can trust his educated point of view. His essay is full of strong logic. However, it lacks a substantial amount of hardcore facts. Furthermore, Burr effortlessly snatches the reader's attention by using dramatic statements and achieving a sense of pathos. Burr's authority on the topic, along with his convincing logic, and dramatic statements allow his essay to achieve a remarkable persuasiveness to his essay. In his essay, Burr instantly creates a sense of ethos. Within the first two paragraphs, Burr articulated that he is a "professional film critic for a major metropolitan daily newspaper" (Burr 31). Because of this statement, he gained credibility on the subject of actors. Additionally, he has "interviewed a number of actors and directors, ingГ©nues and legends" (Burr 31). Burr makes sure to give some examples of especially famous stars that he has interviewed to further provide credibility. Some include: Steve Carell, Laura Linney, and Kevin Spacey (Burr 33). Throughout his essay, Burr takes a position of authority on the subject and writes with intense confidence in his knowledge. Furthermore, readers swiftly realize that Burr has done plenty of research to make readers ponder their position. By proving his credibility, Burr quickly and efficiently snatches the reader's attention and gives them a reason to want to continue reading. Using a long string of logic, Burr's writing is primarily the history of America's cultural obsession with celebrities. While his logic is simple to understand, it is absolutely intelligible. Although he doesn't provide nearly enough hardcore facts, Burr makes sure to include a few facts in an effort to further his point. For instance, he draws attention to the fact that "the man who shot and killed John Lennon...made sure to get his autograph first" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. New Strands Of Goods And Services From Brand Name Companies Crooks gain large lump sums of goods and services from brand name companies that are more likely to use celebrities to advertise for them. Imitators hit big well–known companies because they would be willfully giving, if they think that a famous person would want to advertise their brand. So they profit on asking brand name companies for merchandise. Sharks prosper massive amounts of goods and services through targeting a familiarized company. Scammers accumulate goods and services from top notch companies since they are more likely to believe that celebrity would ask for it. Pretenders attain expensive goods and services by relaying to a widely known company that a famous celebrity is interested in testing or trying the item out. Thus, con artist go for big because companies believe that those celebrities would want to have that brand in their possession. With today's new strands of technology it is very difficult for companies to depict if that celebrity wanted their products, goods or services. There are many ways such as computers, telephones or even mail that can be sent out from and to any company. To state it differently brand name companies do not pay attention to where or even if that celebrity asked for merchandise or service. All they care about is the name of the celebrity who asked for it. Obviously merchants disregard all other things when it comes down to getting a celebrity to advertise for them. There are social media platforms, magazines, online news sites, and movies screaming to be read and watched; and they are covered with images of high profile celebrities. We are living in the century of media innovation together with the development of celebrity culture. When a life of parties, short–term relationships, drugs, and alcohol are leading celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Lindsay Lohan to spiral out of control, you would think that their lifestyle is far from the ideal. However, fans of these stars seem to disagree. Now, in an age where we have more contact with celebrity gossip than ever before, we are faced with a question: what are the effects that superstars have upon our society? One of the most dramatic impacts of celebrity culture on consumer behaviour is the emphasis on personal appearance and self–image. While some consumers may emulate the looks and style of their icons, others simply feel pressured to look more muscular or glamorous to fit with the idealised images of beauty in which they are bombarded with each day. From the full–figured beauties depicted by Renaissance painters, to the hourglass figure prized by the Victorians, and from the boyish physique of the 1920s flappers to the shapely curves of 1950s Hollywood stars, there have always been changing fashions in body shape. It is important for celebrities to be positive and responsible in displaying good morals and values because many individuals are dependent on the media role models of today. Because of the large role celebrities play in society they should be obligated to be positive and influential role models. Many individuals would argue that in celebrities' private lives, they should not have to act as a positive influential role, as they are out of the spotlight. After all it is their private life, so technically it should be no one's concern what they do in their free time. ''If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,The appetite may sicken, and so die.''–Shakespeare in Twelfth Night, Act I scene i ("Musical Quotes and Inspiration.") Plato said "Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." ("Plato Quotes.") You see music ties together many different types of people, poets, philosophers, and many different cultures. Music has historical lyrics, political meanings, and emotional support for the people who ask for it or need it. The ancient hawaiians used musicians as historians and their history was in their chants. People of all cultures in all places still do this in their music. As an example The song Renegades Of Funk is a song by Rage Against the Machine which surprisingly talks about historical and scientific things. The song sounds like a song that is just trying to get people up and to dance. It has hidden historical lyrics and meaning that you may not realize. What Does It Mean To Be Popular Popularity in Today's Society When most people think of popular people they think of bullies or people who are just popular because they are mean so they put themselves above others, which is true and I agree that there are people who are popular because of that, but there is also people who are friends with everyone and are nice to everyone and there isn't a single person who doesn't like them. I'm not going to make this essay about bullying but more of what popularity means to me and how important I think it is to be popular. What does being "popular" mean exactly, well if you look up the word popularity "the state or condition of being liked, admired, or supported by many people" will be what comes up. How does someone become popular is a more important question. Most people become popular by going over the top of others, by putting themselves above others and thinking that they are more important than them. Which to me isn't true popularity, if I had to choose I wouldn't use the word popular because it's a word that popular people like to use, but to me to be popular is to be nice to everyone and work to where you are and not have to hurt others to make the way to the top. It is obvious that celebrity news is an outlet that sells, as seen by the numerous tabloids and entertainment shows. The public has an interest in what is going on in the lives of these rich and glamorous people. This brings on a form of mediated voyeurism, which can be defined as, "the consumption of revealing images and information about others' real and unguarded lives, not always for the purpose of entertainment but frequently at the expense of privacy and discourse, through the means of the mass media" (Calvert, 2000). Basically saying that the public has a need to see these famous people and learn about their lives, even at the risk of invading their privacy. The tabloids simply exploit the public's desire to learn these things, regardless of the ethical issues of invading a human being's privacy. They know people will buy it and that they will make money. I think that to be an ethical journalist it is important to empathize with the person whose life is about to be splashed on the papers. Of course there is the matter of getting the story and pleasing the readers and the editor, but it should take into account the public's real right to know. Lady Gaga perfectly describes the corrupt system of celebrity culture. Fame and celebrity culture is nothing new to human nature. As humans progressed from hunting and gathering, people who have been skilled in war, sports, and art have captured people's undivided attention. As a result, celebrity gossip is an unhealthy distraction that undermines public discourse and sidetracks people from far more important issues. Celebrities are exploited as products to society, set an unrealistic standard of beauty, and the military having to face improper discrimination and a lack of support compared to professional athletes. Celebrity culture has banished the real from the public. Thirty years ago, the only celebrities were ones in movies. Breakfast at Tiffany 's skyrocketed Audrey Hepburn 's talented acting career. As a result, Audrey remains one of Hollywood's greatest movie stars and the world's most successful actresses. Now celebrities are everywhere––Talk–show hosts, lawyers, musicians and teenagers. Many famous celebrities act inappropriately in the public eye. Since they're so famous, if they do anything that should be considered wrong, no one really thinks of it as a mistake. For example, if someone at school hit, called someone an inappropriate name, everyone would make a big deal out of it. However, if a popular basketball player hit his wife, it isn't published in news sources and showed to the public as much as it should be. Furthermore, public figures being perceived as a role model affects children in negative ways because they act inappropriately in the public eye, are violent, and break laws. Many celebrities think it's okay to act improper in public because they're famous. Look at the president of the United States, Donald Trump, he has social media and some of the things he says and puts for everyone to see is a little much sometimes. There is a video of Trump in an interview a couple years back calling Khloe Kardashian "a fat piglet". If a teen girl saw that video one day and she was insecure about her looks, that video isn't going to make her feel better about herself.
