Albert Gleaves Berry was born on September 16, 1848, in Nashville, Tennessee ,to William Tyler
Berry and Mary Margaret Tannehill. After attending the Campbell School in Nashville, he was
admitted to the United States Naval Academy and graduated in the class of 1869. Upon graduation,
Berry was assigned to the Sabine and then the flagship of the European squadron, the Franklin. He
received a promotion to ensign by December 18, 1871, and assigned to the Portsmouth followed by

When the Civil War broke out in 1861, the majority of the U.S. Navy supported the Union. This left
the Confederates with little naval strength. At this time, all naval ships were made out of wood, so in
order to give themselves more of an advantage over the Union, the Confederates began to assemble
ironclads or purchase ironclads from other countries. In response, the Union began to manufacture
ironclad warships as well. Once both sides developed their ironclad warships, they were used

The War of 1812 and the Chesapeake Bay On March 3rd, 1813, the first British ships of war
appeared on the Chesapeake Bay. For two years the Chesapeake would be the scene of numerous
amounts of battles. Some would be lost in anonymity, but others would make history. But first, why
did the British come? We were at war almost thirty years before, so how did it come upon these two
superpower nations to collide once again? A few answers to these questions will put the war of 1812
and the Battle of the Chesapeake Bay in its proper context. Shortly following the Revolutionary
War, America built one of the strongest merchant fleets the world had ever seen. Overseas trade
flourished America's economy, with its peak specifically in 1807 with exports ranging around $100
million (Hickey). Throughout this period of growth for America, Great Britain's Royal Navy was
without a doubt the master of the high seas. Not helping the future war, Thomas Jefferson was
elected into office in 1801 and one of his most notable actions was to shrink the Navy and Military

Seeing stories about mass shootings on the news is an everyday occurrence. Mass shootings occur
when people intentionally and indiscriminately shoot multiple people at one venue or at one time. In
the United States, there have been 62 mass shootings in the last thirty years. There have been 24 in
the last seven years, alone. If he lived in the twenty first century the monster in Frankenstein, by
Mary Shelly and the movie by the same title, directed by James Whale, would be a modern day
mass shooter. The monster and serial shooters share some comparably important traits, such as being
bullied by humans, wanting revenge, and having psychological problems.
To some, being bullied is not a big deal; but to others (such as the monster and many mass shooters)

is "to frighten, hurt, or threaten (a smaller or weaker person): to act like a bully toward (someone):

through an extreme amount of pressure and stress as they go through a transition back into being a
civilian. Many soldiers experience some sort of mental or physical injury while they were deployed,
and many last forever if they are not treated properly. According to Issues and Controversies (Facts
on File), in 2011, roughly 320,000 veterans returning from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars had
experienced a traumatic brain injury while they were deployed. In addition, 300,000 veterans from
the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have suffered from PTSD and/or depression. To add to the mental

their deployment. Simple things like a car tailing a veteran too close can trigger flashbacks to their

least one combat tour [finds] that Marines who had reported PTSD symptoms [are] more than six
times as likely to engage in antisocial and aggressive behaviors than those who did not report PTSD

it can be easily triggered by the slightest factor, which could cause the veteran to harm himself or
other people. Without proper treatment of these illnesses, the behaviors that sprout from them could

The idea of redesigning guns is considered more with public safety due to the larger numbers of
gun–related deaths (Now 3). What is so hard about making guns safer? If people are not willing to
make guns safer, which is obviously the case, then there should be gun controls. . Imagine how

also reported all movements of the British Army to General Washington. By August 1781, the
British Army had established itself in Yorktown, Virginia to begin construction of the port. Shortly

to endure the most extreme conditions in order to be properly prepared to serve and defend our
country, The United States of America. There are three different branches of protection in The
United States: the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force. Accordingly, each of these has its own tribute
to the Special Operations Forces. The Navy contributes the Navy SEALs, the Air Force provides Air
Force SOCOM, and the Army provides the Green Berets, Delta Force, and the Rangers. Each of
these sectors is very selective and secretive. The SEALs are likely the most highly trained forces out

Many people play videogames just for fun, and to help make time go by. They don't take what they
do in a video game, and always think it'd be okay to do it in real life. Study co–author, Allison Fine
