TS1 Task Scenarios
Before the cultural analysis implementation, as well to make the problems from the workspace
context perspective be exposed more distinct, here will generalize three representative task scenarios
in breakdowns.
Task Scenarios in Sequential Way
According to the table2 of department responsibility and corresponding tasks, the most frequent task
scenarios will be defined as following.
TS1 Inform a Meeting Notice
Intents
To notify the people whom should attend a meeting.
Trigger
The meeting is going to be initiating (after 30 minutes).
Steps
1. The GM just checked the schedule of today in the morning, on 10:00 o'clock there is a meeting
shall be hold at the 2nd floor meeting room, that managers of RDD, PD, QCD should be present at

After all the requisite information being gathered, RDD manager will settle an appointment for
group discussion and notify the participants regards this arrangement.
>>>
The primary Intents are normally from the initiator of a task. If taking a deep reflection of those
steps of task scenarios, individuals of their corresponding roles in a same task scenario could have
goals or expectations diversely. Therefore, as designers should consider the individual needs from
their each respective roles in a same task process, rather than just locate the initiator's intents at the
highest priority position.
Take TS1 for an instance, the Intents of this specified task from an initiator is to let all related
persons be successful informed with an impending meeting message. From the message receiver's
perspective, there are no explicit intents for them. However, the task couldn't even be perceived as
achieved without considering the message deliveries, moreover, how could these messages be
delivered, whether any confirmation or feedback from the receiver to initiator?
Imaging of those task processes being executed via the design system, the same, the initiator shall
utilize functional modules to achieve his or her intents, and receivers will get or be aware of those
intents via some objects

Job Enrichment And An Organization
Job enrichment can be defined as the process by which jobs are redesigned for workers so that they
can be in control of their duties and also perform more tasks to develop personal skills. An important
aspect of job enrichment is job redesign and it deals with the modification of the tasks assigned to
workers in an organization. The case study that will be analyzed for Job enrichment theory in this
paper is the expanded HIM functions.
In order to fully employ Job enrichment in an organization, the motivational goals must be put in
place. Goal setting is a medium in which managers can help to motivate workers to be more
efficient while performing their tasks. While redesigning jobs for HIS department workers, the
SMART goal setting principles was applied. The Smart goal is the acronym for specific, measurable,
achievable, realistic, and timely. All these characteristics are evident in the goals, cut out by the
management of the HIS department in the bid of motivating the workers and increasing productivity.
HIS set its goals in four levels, the engineering goals, restructuring goals, work redesign goals and
job redesign goals. The engineering goals were set to analyze the visions, regulations and
organizational structure. The restructuring goals will reevaluate the organizational structure. Work
redesign goals also reevaluate the tasks assigned to the workers and the job redesign were set to
remove, add or restructure the tasks assigned to the workers. The goals set was

Task Analysis Using Abc / Abm
Task analysis using ABC/ABM
Task analyses of the three Workflows were carried out using the task process diagrams created as
described above. In management accounting, direct costs are defined as items with identifiable
prices, such as drugs. Conversely, indirect costs are those for which multiple tasks are included and
determining the relationship between the source and the cost accounting subject is difficult. In
examining referral patients, importation of brought–in external PDI images was included as an
indirect cost because various occupations and departments were involved and because it was not
directly connected to the examinations. For task analyses, ABC, a method of accounting that
addresses indirect cost allocation, was used. The ABC method calculates cost per activity unit by
classifying tasks into smaller activity units.18) By subdividing the task process into activity units,
ABC enables the calculation of labor costs required for data importation.
While ABM uses ABC as an analysis tool for task improvement,21) the main characteristic of ABC
is that it separates final results into value–added activities (those that add value), and non–value–
added activities (those that do not add value). The resulting information allows for re–examination
of the overall task process by determining whether or not each activity is adding value to the
product. A previous study in the field of radiation19–20) that used ABC showed most of the tasks
related to storing brought–in

Critique of Tyler and Wiggins
In his book Basic Principles of Curriculum and Instruction, Ralph Tyler outlines four critical
components of curriculum that may serve as a guide to the creation of curriculum as well as a tool
for the analysis and interpretation of curriculum. The four basic components consist of educational
purposes (or objectives), educational experiences (or learning activities), organization, and
evaluation (Tyler, 1949, p. 1). While Tyler does speak to each of these four components, nearly half
of the book is devoted to the section on objectives. For Tyler, the objectives are the starting point in
the development of the curriculum and the cornerstone upon which the rest of the curriculum is
shaped. Given the shifts that have occurred in education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My critique, based on time and resources, of Tyler's objectives, leads directly into my next critique
of this particular section. Let's assume that it is possible to conduct all of the research and studies
that Tyler suggests. I then wonder, is this information more appropriately used for the development
of objectives, as Tyler suggests, or for the development of learning activities and enrichments? Tyler
speaks frequently of student interests. He suggests that "children's interests must be identified so that
they can serve as the focus of educational attention" (Tyler, 1949, p.10). I agree with Tyler on this
point, yet I think that this information is better used in the development of learning activities than it
is for the creation of objectives. Take, for example, Tyler's example of the sixty percent of boys in a
ninth grade class that only read comic strips outside of school. With this information, I think it is
more likely that a teacher will create a learning activity that reigns in this interest than it is that the
objective will be changed. This ninth grade class made up of mostly boys interested in comic strips
may still have the same objective as the ninth grade class made up of mostly girls who enjoy reading
CosmoGirl magazine, but the teachers could do different activities to accomplish the same
objectives. The first class may create

Reflection Paper On Fieldwork Experience
During:
During my fieldwork experience, I observed a particular grower that was in my group on my last
day of fieldwork. This was my first time meeting this grower so generally, I was unsure as to how
things would pan out between us. Prior to meeting this client, I was assuming that the client would
generally keep to himself and not interact with his peers or new people such as myself. However, to
my surprise, the client that I observed did in fact interact with his his peers and even interacted with
myself. Despite just meeting on my last day of fieldwork, I felt as though I knew this grower for a
very long time. The grower would interact with others by giving them a high fives, engaging in the
variety of tasks that we had throughout the day, and laughing when it was appropriate. The way that
this particular grower interacted with is peers definitely surprised me and was a different then what I
had expected.
The grower that I had the opportunity to interact with seemed to be diagnosed with severe autism.
The was demonstrated in many ways. The client rarely made eye contact with his peers and other
supervisors. In addition, the client lacked communication with his peers and his supervisors as well.
When he tried to communicate, he would in a way grunt towards you or he may have laughed if he
was enjoying himself. At times, the client would have an outburst of arm flapping that would last
about three to five seconds each. This only occurred about four times throughout the

Ben Carson's Life
The Life of Ben Carson Shows How People Can Become Successful, and He Has Challenged Me To
Work Harder To Achieve My Dreams. In the book "Gifted Hands", Ben Carson's life illustrates
several steps for you to improve in your school education and everyday life. Here are three of the
most important steps. First expanding your knowledge outside of the classroom. When Carson
wanted to learn more about art, he went to art museums and galleries. He got books from the library
about art (Carson 71). You too can learn from outside the classroom. Watching some documentaries,
reading relevant books, and finding some hands on activities, are all great ways to increasing your
knowledge. The second step, working hard and smart at everything you do. One of ... Show more

Two reasons why you should read Gifted Hands. First it encourages you to work hard like Carson.
One fine example is when Carson was a little kid he didn't do so well in school, but he was
determined to get better. He worked hard and soon was the top of his class (Carson 38–39).
Secondly it teaches you that no matter where you come from, you can become successful. An
example of this is Carson's own background. He was a quote "Ghetto kid from the streets of
Detroit."(Carson10). A quote from Gifted Hands I have found inspiring is, "Whatever direction we
choose, if we can realize that every hurdle we jump strengthens us and prepares us for the next one,
we're already on the way to success." (Carson 240). This quote is inspiring because it tells us to look
at the bright side. I hope that I have inspired you to read Ben Carson's Gifted

My Overall Team Experiences During The Managing...

This is the reflective essay of my overall team experiences during the Managing organisations and
people course this trimester. Reflecting upon the past and its experiences will enable me to broaden
my communication, ability in solving conflicts and enrich my future expertise. To look back at my
group work all this while helped me in gaining the knowledge to face the real world. Frankly saying
never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience altogether. This paper
will give me an opportunity to explore through various aspects of my role in our team. My role

In contrast diversity in a group will help the members come up with non–identical ideas and views
thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham, & Bonacum, 2004). All the
members started feeling important in the team, which therefore overpowered the negatives arising
due to the diversity. According to Waller (2004), Gupta (2004) & Giambatista (2004), proper
communication without any deviations play a key role in boosting the productivity of the overall
team. Nixon (2014), Johnson and Wiggs (2011) claimed that effective speaking is key for a good
team. Also the research (Wu & Xiao, 2011; Peterson, 2012) supports my argument. It says that the
individuals in a team should be frank in their approach and should stand by their own arguments
until completely convinced by the logic. Hence I tried not to give up on my opinion as Danks (2012,
p24) categorized 'a clear and reasoned thinker and communicator'. Clear communication and open
expression of views and ideas will build up the cohesiveness of team. This in turn also develops a
better understanding which is a must to work together.
Later on, the work was delegated within us 'to improve the self, show courage, persistence and
effective determination' (DuPont 2013, p.69). Here I should also mention about the challenges and
the way we handled them. However improper

Delegation Can Be A Slippery Slope For Any Manager
Delegation can be a very slippery slope for any manager, but it has become a necessary component
of many organizational management structures. While it can be an extremely effective management
strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected results. This is the
case we see presented in the case study for this assignment. It seems that our manager/delegator, Ms.
Wilson, is looking to remove some items from her current workload in order to facilitate more time
to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be delegated. To her credit, she did
take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily activities and reduce them to items
that were able to be delegated. This is a crucial and key step, as discussed within our text. While we
don't know the extent of the items that may have been included on this list, Ms. Wilson did narrow
the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data and generating a monthly statistical report.
It's at this point that I feel things went a bit astray in the delegation process that eventually would
lead to the failure of the process. First, just as important and organizing and stratifying a list of tasks
for delegation, is the process of organizing and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform
those tasks. While we know in our case study that Ms. Wilson chose George Peters for the task, we
don't have any indication that she performed her due

Task Set Reconfiguration Effect
The Effect of Task Set Reconfiguration on Performance
Teema J. Credle
Brooklyn College Department of Psychology
Abstract
Task switching is the cognitive ability to switch between one task to the next. Research shows that
when a person switches from one task to another, there will be a higher incidence of errors coupled
with slower reaction time (switch cost) as opposed to trials where a person is doing the same task
over and over (repeat trial). The switch cost is attributed to task–set reconfiguration because of the
time it takes to reconfigure task–sets. In this task switch experiment we measured reaction times and
error rates on both repeat trials and switch trials (task switches). Twenty–one participants from ...

In a study conducted by Meiran (1996), he found that when extending the cue target interval he was
able to cut down on switch cost. While extending the cue target interval doesn't eliminate switch
cost completely discovering and developing ways to decrease switch cost would beneficial to this
all. Whether you are a stay at home mom, student, or employee we can all find ways to be more
efficient and productive as we set out to complete our various tasks. A suggestion for future research
would be to create more real life experiments that people actually engage in frequently. Most of the
current research is conducted on a computer and while I believe the results are accurate from these
studies, I would like to see more studies where participants are engaging in more mundane
activities. The results would probably be consistent with the findings from prior studies. A factor to
consider is that the studies conducted in a lab on computers are quick, efficient, and concise. If we
were to create a study where people were engaging in the same tasks (data entry/answering phone
calls) as the Executive Assistant mentioned earlier, the method would be more complex and time
consuming. However, I am intrigued to discover more on this topic by exploring other possibilities

Task Switching
The Cost of Task Switching Humans are not like any other living species. Their cognitive ability
allows them to preform both simple tasks and complex tasks. It is assumed that people carry out
cognitive and motor tasks by tapping into their task–sets. Task–set is the cognitive process the brain
takes to perform the task. Every time a person multitasks in order to get more stuff done faster they
are experiencing task switching. For example, a student could be typing notes during the lecture and
has to type and listen to the professor at the same time. Typing the lecture most probably will take
longer since the student has to listen to the professor at the same time. From running a marathon to
solving complex mathematical equations the brain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of a task switching would be when an Olympian medalist has a 400 meter sprint
and then has to perform 20 jumping jacks the brain has to quickly stop one motor act and start a new
one. For us it might seem flawless but for an Olympian in a race every millisecond counts and that
delay tends to raise one's reaction cost. This particular experiment tests if there is a significant
difference in reaction time between task–switch and task–repeat. In other words, when one changes
from doing one cognitive task to another does the brain "shift gears" and would the second task will
be negatively affected. In other words, will there be a task switching cost. This may happen since
the brain has to stop what it is doing and concentrate on a new cognitive and/or motor task. This is
called the "task set reconfiguration (Monsell, 2003)", and causes a delay in one's reaction time
which ultimately effects their performance on that task. Research has shown (Monsell, 2003) that
switching between multiple task tend to raise one's reaction cost. This experiment recorded the error
rate of task–switching versus task–repeat. This allowed us to prove that there is a significant
difference between them and support the hypothesis of "task set

his arms raised and his face scrunched in concentration with an occasional flick of the tongue his
lips were consistently pursed. AJ's lagging gross motor skills were further noted when participating
in tandem balance. He was unable to maintain balance during the first trial and almost fell over
multiple times. On the second trial he met the expectation for eight seconds before meeting the
requirement of fifteen seconds on the last trial. The examiner noted that on the last trial AJ seemed
to be concentrating at a greater degree as he did not laugh or make comments during the fifteen
seconds. This could imply that, when participating in a gross motor task that requires balance, AJ
must attend solely on the task to experience success. Throughout the subtest "catch the ball in cup,"
AJ was erratic and had difficulty maintaining control off his body and the ball. The examiner
provided verbal directions and released AJ to complete the task. AJ struggled to coordinate his body
in a manner that would allow him to toss the ball above his head and catch it in the cup. Often times
the ball ended up behind his head and on the floor which led to him crawling after it. The examiner
then provided a visual model, tossing the ball gently above her head and catching it in the cup. AJ
was able to maintain control for two tosses after the modeling before becoming erratic. He was able
to catch the ball four times. AJ receives services from an Occupational Therapist at the school and

Shady Hollow Tasks
My tasks varied each day at Shady Hollow. I loved this because it meant there was always

Friday. It would be the first place people see when they walk in the doors and also where the phones
and emails are filtered through. I loved working at the front desk because it put me at the heart of

Why Do People Suffer Cost For Performance Faster And More...
Taking on many different task and multitask is not something many are gifted at. Sometimes doing
one task at a time becomes more beneficial then doing two or more at a time. In this research
Brooklyn College students decided to test if performance faster and more accurate for task repeat
thank task switches and do people suffer cost in performance when switching between two data?
After trials of task multitasking with manipulations like task sequence and cue target delays it was
concluded that task switching can cause task cost and task switching is with and with out delays are
still slower then with no task switching.
Task– switching– Task sequence effect of reaction time and error rate Taking on many tasks at the
same time can be something very hard to do for some and something others can easily exceed at.
Throughout our day we like to take on more then one task at a time to finish something faster or to
minimize time but research has shown that task switch can cost us time. Stephen Monsell (2003)
conducted a study called "Task Switching" and concluded that switching between tasks can cause us
time because the brain required "loading time", which hinders the focus on the actual task. Loading
time lets our brain focus completely on one task and when that loading time isn't completed it
becomes hard to focus on that specific task; let alone execute it correctly. This causes us to take up
time in between task switching because our brain tries to adjust to the task and

What Is The Zeigarnik Effect
In psychology, the Zeigarnik effect states that people remember uncompleted or interrupted tasks
better than completed tasks. In Gestalt psychology, the Zeigarnik effect has been used to
demonstrate the general presence of Gestalt phenomena: not just appearing as perceptual effects, but
also present in cognition. he advantage of remembrance can be explained by looking at Lewin's field
theory: a task that has already been started establishes a task–specific tension, which improves
cognitive accessibility of the relevant contents.[3] The tension is relieved upon completion of the
task. If the task is interrupted, the reduction of tension is impeded. Through continuous tension, the
content is made more easily accessible, and can be easily remembered.[3] ... Show more content on

When we are holding things in short–term memory, we have to rehearse them otherwise they
disappear, like a light going out. This requires cognitive effort, and the more things we are
rehearsing the more effort. The waiter's trick is thus to keep spinning the plates of the open orders
whilst letting those which are completed fall.
A similar effect also happens over a longer period as we worry about those things in which we have
not achieve closure. Thus I might keep thinking about a problem at work over a whole weekend as it
keeps coming back to haunt me. There is, however, one exception to the Zeigarnik Effect; it won't
work unless you are actually motivated to complete the task or achieve the goal. The Zeigarnik
Effect says our brains hold–on to unfinished tasks; in other words, we like to finishwhatwestart. The
Zeigarnik Effect is about the human tendency to remember uncompleted tasks more than the tasks
already completed. When people manage to start something they're more inclined to finish it. What
the Zeigarnik Effect teaches is that one weapon for beating procrastination is starting– something,
sometime, somewhere...

It helps you grow and improve all throughout your career. Getting feedback, whether it's from your
employer/supervisor, a college or someone under your charge, also helps to identify parts of your
personal development that you may have missed or have overlooked. After all, we're only human
and humans make mistakes. Because of this, it's important to go about getting feedback from others
the right way. Walking up to a co–worker and asking their opinion on your competency might have
unforeseen complications they might dislike you personally and give you false information about
your working capacity, they might lie to you to avoid hurting your feelings or it could erupt into an
argument and disrupt important work. In any case, it's necessary to provide a platform to the
recipients to conduct their feedback. An easy example is to have a general feedback day or meeting
for the entire work force or work group, where everyone comes together and gives each other
constructive criticism in a relaxed and friendly demeanor. Hosting a one–on–one, private feedback
meetings is another good idea that allows for a greater analysis of your competency. BY talking to
each person individually, you reduces any stress or anxiety the person may have and gives them the
confidence to speak their mind clearly. It's important to mention that you take in all the feedback
presented to you, positive and negative. It's never easy to take negative feedback, but both are
required for you to truly improve, so it is necessary to take any negative feedback with a positive
attitude. You can always improve, so it's imperative that you think along that line. This is also a
good chance to give the individual some feedback yourself, try putting any negative feedback you
may have in between two points of positive feedback, like

Background to the topic:
I visited my local video and music store and after an interview with the manager I suggested there
might be a better and more efficient way to manage their records. The better way would be to be to
use a computerized system through the use of excel. My main task would be to create a new system
which would be much better than their current system at organising records and storing records.
The main reason for me choosing a video, and music shop was that these days people would rather
spend a certain amount of money on buying a certain video so that they can watch it at their will
instead of having to pay a certain amount of money on going to see ... Show more content on

However with the new system, none of these problems exist. The new system would be fully
computerized and would allow the store to make backup copies very easily. The rental records could
be easily checked as they could be viewed in alphabetical order, in date due order or in membership
number order … this makes it easier for the store to see the same data in several different
perspectives. This can be done by sorting the data in excel. There would be no need to record data in
a book as by recording the data in excel you would be able to create a system where the data is
updated when you a video in returned and therefore it means there is always an up to date list which
can be viewed by the managers or staff on duty which would give them an up to date account of the
videos late or required rental.
Summary to the interview:
I went to the manager and conducted an interview with him. I asked him several question as to what
he wanted when the system was completed and he gave me a unique insight into what he wanted the
system to have the ability to achieve when it was finished. A summary of what he wanted is listed
below.
The manager wanted the system end user to have the ability to complete the following tasks:
* The system had to be able to create, view and modify accounts in very little time plus it must have
the ability to be able to create backup copies of accounts in virtually no time. This means

End Of Life Planning
I often find myself searching for ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness in my professional
environment. When instructed to increase education about advance directives and end of life
planning by leadership, I immediately approached this from a group perspective. I coordinated with
Chaplain Services at the James Quillen VA and began leading a group focused on VA Form 10–0137
and end of life planning. Each page of the 5 page form was reviewed with every Veteran, questions
were answered, and the Veteran's personal experience with end of life planning were discussed.
Afterward, Veterans wanting to complete the form remained and were given one–on–one assistance
with completing the form. In one month, we educated approximately 48 Veterans, ... Show more

Since working in the Caregiver Support Program, my recommendation for implementing team
huddles was accepted. As a result, we have been able to anticipate, plan for, and address the
program's needs while being under staffed. We discuss topics such as the number of reassessments,
review newly implemented changes to ensure they are effective and feasible to maintain, and we
restructured work duties and both tackle those tasks that have been identified as "teamwork tasks".
These are tasks that either staff member can address as our schedule allows while both being aware
that the task needs to be completed. While training as the Senior Social Worker for the Caregiver
Support Program, I learned the staff had consistently struggled with obtaining feedback from
providers which is mandated by the program's federal regulations. Utilizing my clinical skills,
relationship building skills, and feedback I began educating providers and requesting feedback
within a specific timeframe. It is now very rare that I am unable to obtain feedback from a treatment
team member. I am now consistently receiving feedback from treatment team members within a few
hours to four days for feedback. As a result, Veterans and Caregivers are receiving timely feedback
while we adhere to federal regulations. As the Activities Coordinator at Bering Omega Community
Services (2007–2008), I used client feedback when selecting and scheduling monthly activities and
trips. Ultimately, attendance, participation, and morale increased. I also used feedback provided by
staff and volunteers when organizing the annual volunteer banquet at Volunteer Baton Rouge (2006–
2007). The number of banquet attendees tripled as a result. I have also led a committee focused on
restructuring the HBPC interdisciplinary team meeting times to increase efficiency. As a result, each

After being a student at SFU for 4 years, I have come to understand the importance of organization
in finding success. All jobs require organization in order to keep track of tasks and to avoid failure in
keeping up with responsibilities. At this job the two primary programs that I used to keep organized
were Excel and Outlook. Excel is helpful to stay organized because it can be used as a record–
keeping platform. I used Excel to gather information and presented is as statistics in graphs.
However, I benefited from using Excel the most by tracking the tasks that were on my to–do list. I
kept separate spreadsheets for different responsibilities and had a chart that included each task that I
had to complete. I would check off when I had completed a task, which would then indicate what
the next step would be. Additionally, it left a paper trail that I could use if I had to look back to
determine if something was completed. I tracked everything in Excel and integrated it into my daily
routine. This practice significantly reduced the margin of error in my daily responsibilities. Excel is
very beneficial because it can be used to further organization in any job. Outlook was a key program
that I utilized every day. I would organize my emails by keeping them in labeled folders. Instead of
deleting old emails, I would opt to put in them in a folder. I found

Multitask Research Paper
Findings regarding multitasking seems to be a lot of talk in Psychology. Theme four says that
humans are responsible limited agents and we have agency, meaning the ability to act as agents in
the world. This involves the ability to chose, but it is limited. This relates to multitasking.
Multitasking is the practice of doing multiple things at the same time (SGWN pg 135). Theme four
can relate to multitasking because having agency implies not only we make choices but also that we
can change ourselves in some way. Theme four is relating to multitasking and saying that we have
the choice to multitask and do multiple things at one time even though there are limitations on how
much we are able to change since we exist in a particular time and place. ... Show more content on

This involves the ability to chose, but it is limited. I agree with that when it comes to multitasking
because you can chose what two tasks you're going to try to accomplish at once. For example, if you
chose to text and drive acting as agents in this world, that is your choice but it is limited because you
are limited to paying full attention to the road if you text and drive. For example, as mentioned in
SGWN with texting and driving, the drivers trying to multitask like this become so engaged in their
conversations that their minds no longer seemed to be in the car (SGWN pg 135). This is a good
example for the limited agency of theme four because the texting and driving limits the driver from
paying attention to what they need to. Likewise, I agree with theme five as well. Theme five states
that we are meaning seekers and we always make sense of things. Also, we seek meaning through
experience. I agree with this relating to multitasking because people seek meaning through
experience. With the example of the texting and driving, someone could seek the meaning through
the experience of texting and driving. As mentioned in SGWN, legislature is trying to ban using
mobile devices while driving (SGWN pg 135) and this is all because of experiences and personal
experience is a part of theme

Reducing Vigilance Decrement During Vigilance Tasks
To effectively reduce vigilance decrement during vigilance tasks, a thorough understanding of it is
needed. This study explores whether vigilance decrement can be explained by the resource theory or
the mindlessness theory. The performance of 464 participants during a laboratory conducted dot
location vigilance task lasting for twelve minutes. Six break activities were also conducted to reduce
vigilance decrement. Out of the six, the Rest group had the greatest effect on vigilance decrement
(no vigilance decrement) followed by the verbal memory group and the spatial memory group. With
no breaks, the continuous group had the greatest decrement in performance, acting as a control. The
results supported the use of the resource theory that a break of a different cognitive type improves
performance but the demands of the task influence must also be considered (more demanding tasks
drains resources at a faster rate).
Introduction
During the Second World War, Norman Mackworth observed that radar operators experienced a
performance decline with time while they remained on watch by missing submarines and even
mistaking friendly vessels for Nazi vessels. This was described as the vigilance decrement. When
carrying out a vigilance task, where long and sustained periods of attention and concentration are
crucial, a decline in performance in terms of accuracy and speed occurs as time goes on. In the case
of the radar operators, signs of enemy submarines escaped operators'

Analysis Of The Gods Must Be Crazy
Based on the movie, "The Gods Must Be Crazy", the people of the Kalahari are able to sustain the
elements of PERMA in their lives. By doing this they can have a happy, contented, and satisfying
live amongst their people. The acronym PERMA stands for the people of the Kalahari being able to
achieve positive emotions, engagement in activities, good relationships with others, a sense of
meaning, and identifiable accomplishments in their lives. For starters, the Kalahari people
demonstrate positive emotions by being able to obtain food and water each day. Positive emotions
are also felt by interacting with each other and playing their inventive games within their family

If there weren't any good relationships with others, then the family would have no need to work
together or talk to each other. While the fourth letter of the acronym stands for a sense of meaning.
This is demonstrated through them completing tasks that help feed their family group. One example
of this is shown when the hunters in the group apologize to the deer for having to kill it and telling it
that they must feed their family. They also demonstrate a sense of meaning by showing younger
members of their family group how to get water through means such as squeezing the shavings of a
tuba. This is trying to ensure the survival of their family group not only in the present but in the
future as well. The final letter of the acronym stands for accomplishments in their lives. This is done
through setting up a goal to find water and laying out leaves the day beforehand to collect dew drops
the following day. By planning this out it allows for the people of the Kalahari to accomplish their
goal of finding water in their environment that has a scarce supply of it. Another goal of theirs that is
set each day is finding food. This Is accomplished by hunting and gathering. By being able to kill an
animal, collect berries, find tree roots, or catch bugs it will give these people a sense of
accomplishment in their lives. The biggest goal I believe they are accomplishing is being able to
survive. We can see that they are being able to accomplish this goal because

The Importance Of A Time For A Person's Day
There are many tasks and responsibilities that can arise in a person's day. In particular, juggling
family, work, and school which is a very difficult and tiring task. Being disorganized can lead to a
chaotic and stressful day. Using a time chart is useful and beneficial it can help you stay organized
and keep daily activities more manageable. The first step to balancing my studies and family is to
use a time chart. The time chart helps to keep my tasks in order and completed on time. It is helpful
in reminding me about upcoming appointments whether it is at school or work, not to mention the
other unexpected events that can also happen to make you forget what you were doing. Most of all,
my time chart helps me look forward to taking breaks that I longed for after a long day's work. Even
with a huge workload a time chart can help keep your to do list up to date, it helps you concentrate
on one task at a time, and it helps you prioritize what needs to be done first. It is important to
schedule your day the night before or when first arising. The first step I take to scheduling is to
writing down my daily duties. Then find out what appointment I have pending. Next, I rearrange and
organize to fit my schedule. This will keep duties in order and also help me find what is the most
important daily activities. Do not forget to review the chart after completion; this is very crucial.

Running Head: Time Cost, Task–Switching, Repeating Tasks
Task Switching Cost's Time
Brooklyn College City University of New York
Abstract
A replication of Task Switching Monsell 2003 experiment was done, which predicts a time cost
when switching tasks. 18 participants had to complete 100 randomized trials, switching between
task–repeat and task–switching trials. Reaction Times (RT) were recorded and reflected by
experimenters, to determine that there is a time cost involved when switching tasks as opposed to
repeating the same task.

Many people take pride in the fact that they can multitask. A study "Task Switching" conducted by
Monsell concluded that multitasking, or switching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When switching between tasks our brain goes between two different programs one for example for
counting and one for reading, therefore costing us time to switch between these two tasks. In this
experiment we tried to replicate the Monsell 2003 Task Switching experiment. 18 Participants took a
brief task–switching test via program Revolution Maker©. Each trial was randomly assigned. The
participants were presented with numbers one through nine and on each trial had to react to the
number, to identify either its odd or even or if the magnitude was either less than 5 or more than 5.
We hypothesis that when individuals are engaged in a cognitive task there is a time cost that occurs
when asked to switch between tasks as opposed to repeating tasks.

The Marine Air Ground Task Force
On the basis of United States Code, Title 10, and joint doctrine, the Marine Corps, in coordination
and cooperation with the Navy, has made logistical self–sufficiency an essential element of the
Marine Air–Ground Task Force (MAGTF) expeditionary warfighting capabilities. This means that
the Marine Corps' logistics mission, at all commands and support levels, is to generate MAGTFs
that are rapidly deployable, self–reliant, self–sustaining, and flexible and that can rapidly
reconstitute (Logistics Operations, 1999). While the Marine Corps is unmatched in its ability to be
the most rapid responding force across the globe, a deficiency exists that should be addressed. Over
the past decade, there have been numerous successful innovations in ground and aviation logistics,
but they have lacked in standardization or integration within the MAGTF. Emerging operating
concepts such as disaggregated MAGTF operations and seabasing, along with current fiscal
constraints, are driving the need to further modernize and integrate MAGTF logistics in order to
optimize support to the warfighter (Borrelli & Hodge, 2013). Independently, the logistical concepts
and systems that exist for the ground elements and the aviation elements are proven to be effective
and efficient, however, when the aviation and ground elements work in concert the response of
logistical support is hindered. This paper will offer possible solutions to close the logistics gap
between the Marines Corps' aviation and

Multitasking Can Make You Lose Um Focus
Multitasking, helpful or harmful? In Alina Tugend's "Multitasking Can Make You
Lose...Um...Focus", Tugend explores multitasking in several ways. Explaining how we as humans
sacrifice focus "shifting focus from task to task gives illusion that we're simultaneously tasking".
Also, how our brains react to operating and trying to do more than one task at once. Only one or two
visual stimulants can activate our neurons at one particular time. Lastly, how we can recreate
boundaries and cope with everyday life and multitasking. Tugend reiterates several times the
importance of one task at a time so we as humans can effectively complete tasks to the best of our
abilities instead of giving partial focus and not efficiently completely a task. Multitasking is very
beneficial at times, but more often there are significant downfalls; it is crucial we learn how to
manage the downfalls of juggling tasks, events, conversations, and daily events. First hand, I
observe and participate in multitasking when I arrive at work every day. The job description of
serving should basically state, multitask, keep a good attitude, multitask, smile, clean, multitask. I
think you get the jest that serving is the definition of multitasking. On a daily basis I juggle between
several tables with needy customers who expect nothing but a tremendous dining experience. Also,
while juggling tables I manage to serve drinks, food, cash out my customers, and even engage in one
on one talk. In this instance,

Sequencing Deficits Are Not Discriminatory Of Any Age
Sequencing refers to the ability to carry out an activity in a logical, timely, and orderly manner
(Early, 2006). Sequencing deficits are not discriminatory of any age and are commonly found in
individuals with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, cognitive–perceptual disorders, and
mental health disorders. Some diagnoses that are tied to sequencing deficits are CVA, TBI, Autism,
ADHD, and dementia, to name a few (Occupational Therapy's Role in Cognitive Disorders, 2011).
Sequencing deficits may range from minor to severe and require occupational therapy to increase
successful completion of everyday activities by providing techniques that improve task sequencing.
Sequencing comes as automatic thought for most individuals when performing a simple task, such
as making a bed or brushing teeth. For instance, individuals whose sequencing abilities are intact
will know that a fitted sheet must be placed onto a bed before a comforter, but for some with
cognitive deficits or learning disabilities, this task may be confusing and difficult to remember. Due
to cognitive decline, individuals that once had the ability to perform tasks in correct sequences may
now have difficulty doing so. These difficulties are common in patients with dementia as memory
declines (Clark et al., 2012). Individuals with sequencing deficits require some form of visual aid or
verbal cueing to complete a task correctly. If an individual who has difficulty sequencing activities

1. Defining actors (tasks). This is not in the book (own list), but the concept is from the book. For
more effective use of my limited brain resources, I have to define my takes that I'm facing. They
will be the actors who will get on stage, and some of them will be excluded in that day or for a while
if it is not necessary and urgent. I have so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I spent more than 2 hours for searching it, and still haven't purchased it yet, and delayed many tasks.
I have so many things to finish in this weekend, and it was just a simple decision making. It was
urgent, and it was not so significant money to my life, so it didn't matter whatever I chose. I should
have simplified it and focused on the important things.
3. Group information into chunks whenever you have too much information.
This method is helpful for the next step. Even I finish defining my tasks and simplifying
information, sometimes it is still confusing. After creating chunks for my tasks and grouping them, I
can easily set the priorities. Usually my hunks are; "school – assignments, projects", "school –
preparation for exams", "family affairs", "church affairs", and "financial management".
4. Prioritize prioritizing, as it's an energy–intensive activity.
I usually prioritize my tasks with following orders; "Import and urgent", "urgent but not important",
"important but not urgent", and "neither important and urgent". Once I decide the order for
implementation, I try to focus only on the highest priority that I haven't finished.
5. Schedule the most attention–rich tasks when you have a fresh and alert mind. Although I'm more
of a night owl, I can feel that I have fresher mind in the morning. I usually do the complicate task
that needs a lot of brain working in the morning.
6. Catch yourself trying to do two things at once and slow down

TS1 Task Scenarios

  • 1. TS1 Task Scenarios Before the cultural analysis implementation, as well to make the problems from the workspace context perspective be exposed more distinct, here will generalize three representative task scenarios in breakdowns. Task Scenarios in Sequential Way According to the table2 of department responsibility and corresponding tasks, the most frequent task scenarios will be defined as following. TS1 Inform a Meeting Notice Intents To notify the people whom should attend a meeting. Trigger The meeting is going to be initiating (after 30 minutes). Steps 1. The GM just checked the schedule of today in the morning, on 10:00 o'clock there is a meeting shall be hold at the 2nd floor meeting room, that managers of RDD, PD, QCD should be present at ... If taking a deep reflection of those steps of task scenarios, individuals of their corresponding roles in a same task scenario could have goals or expectations diversely. Therefore, as designers should consider the individual needs from their each respective roles in a same task process, rather than just locate the initiator's intents at the highest priority position. Take TS1 for an instance, the Intents of this specified task from an initiator is to let all related persons be successful informed with an impending meeting message. From the message receiver's perspective, there are no explicit intents for them. However, the task couldn't even be perceived as achieved without considering the message deliveries, moreover, how could these messages be delivered, whether any confirmation or feedback from the receiver to initiator?

  • 4. Job Enrichment And An Organization Job enrichment can be defined as the process by which jobs are redesigned for workers so that they can be in control of their duties and also perform more tasks to develop personal skills. An important aspect of job enrichment is job redesign and it deals with the modification of the tasks assigned to workers in an organization. The case study that will be analyzed for Job enrichment theory in this paper is the expanded HIM functions. In order to fully employ Job enrichment in an organization, the motivational goals must be put in place. Goal setting is a medium in which managers can help to motivate workers to be more efficient while performing their tasks. While redesigning jobs for HIS department workers, the SMART goal setting principles was applied. The Smart goal is the acronym for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. All these characteristics are evident in the goals, cut out by the management of the HIS department in the bid of motivating the workers and increasing productivity. HIS set its goals in four levels, the engineering goals, restructuring goals, work redesign goals and job redesign goals. The engineering goals were set to analyze the visions, regulations and organizational structure. The restructuring goals will reevaluate the organizational structure. Work redesign goals also reevaluate the tasks assigned to the workers and the job redesign were set to remove, add or restructure the tasks assigned to the workers. The goals set was ... • 8. Task Analysis Using Abc / Abm Task analysis using ABC/ABM Task analyses of the three Workflows were carried out using the task process diagrams created as described above. In management accounting, direct costs are defined as items with identifiable prices, such as drugs. Conversely, indirect costs are those for which multiple tasks are included and determining the relationship between the source and the cost accounting subject is difficult. In examining referral patients, importation of brought–in external PDI images was included as an indirect cost because various occupations and departments were involved and because it was not directly connected to the examinations. For task analyses, ABC, a method of accounting that addresses indirect cost allocation, was used. The ABC method calculates cost per activity unit by classifying tasks into smaller activity units.18) By subdividing the task process into activity units, ABC enables the calculation of labor costs required for data importation. While ABM uses ABC as an analysis tool for task improvement,21) the main characteristic of ABC is that it separates final results into value–added activities (those that add value), and non–value– added activities (those that do not add value). The resulting information allows for re–examination of the overall task process by determining whether or not each activity is adding value to the product. A previous study in the field of radiation19–20) that used ABC showed most of the tasks related to storing brought–in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Critique of Tyler and Wiggins In his book Basic Principles of Curriculum and Instruction, Ralph Tyler outlines four critical components of curriculum that may serve as a guide to the creation of curriculum as well as a tool for the analysis and interpretation of curriculum. The four basic components consist of educational purposes (or objectives), educational experiences (or learning activities), organization, and evaluation (Tyler, 1949, p. 1). While Tyler does speak to each of these four components, nearly half of the book is devoted to the section on objectives. For Tyler, the objectives are the starting point in the development of the curriculum and the cornerstone upon which the rest of the curriculum is shaped. Given the shifts that have occurred in education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My critique, based on time and resources, of Tyler's objectives, leads directly into my next critique of this particular section. Let's assume that it is possible to conduct all of the research and studies that Tyler suggests. I then wonder, is this information more appropriately used for the development of objectives, as Tyler suggests, or for the development of learning activities and enrichments? Tyler speaks frequently of student interests. He suggests that "children's interests must be identified so that they can serve as the focus of educational attention" (Tyler, 1949, p.10). I agree with Tyler on this point, yet I think that this information is better used in the development of learning activities than it is for the creation of objectives. Take, for example, Tyler's example of the sixty percent of boys in a ninth grade class that only read comic strips outside of school. With this information, I think it is more likely that a teacher will create a learning activity that reigns in this interest than it is that the objective will be changed. This ninth grade class made up of mostly boys interested in comic strips may still have the same objective as the ninth grade class made up of mostly girls who enjoy reading CosmoGirl magazine, but the teachers could do different activities to accomplish the same objectives. The first class may create ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Reflection Paper On Fieldwork Experience During: During my fieldwork experience, I observed a particular grower that was in my group on my last day of fieldwork. This was my first time meeting this grower so generally, I was unsure as to how things would pan out between us. Prior to meeting this client, I was assuming that the client would generally keep to himself and not interact with his peers or new people such as myself. However, to my surprise, the client that I observed did in fact interact with his his peers and even interacted with myself. Despite just meeting on my last day of fieldwork, I felt as though I knew this grower for a very long time. The grower would interact with others by giving them a high fives, engaging in the variety of tasks that we had throughout the day, and laughing when it was appropriate. The way that this particular grower interacted with is peers definitely surprised me and was a different then what I had expected. The grower that I had the opportunity to interact with seemed to be diagnosed with severe autism. The was demonstrated in many ways. The client rarely made eye contact with his peers and other supervisors. In addition, the client lacked communication with his peers and his supervisors as well. When he tried to communicate, he would in a way grunt towards you or he may have laughed if he was enjoying himself. At times, the client would have an outburst of arm flapping that would last about three to five seconds each. This only occurred about four times throughout the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book "Gifted Hands", Ben Carson's life illustrates several steps for you to improve in your school education and everyday life. Here are three of the most important steps. First expanding your knowledge outside of the classroom. When Carson wanted to learn more about art, he went to art museums and galleries. He got books from the library about art (Carson 71). You too can learn from outside the classroom. Watching some documentaries, reading relevant books, and finding some hands on activities, are all great ways to increasing your knowledge. He was a quote "Ghetto kid from the streets of Detroit."(Carson10). A quote from Gifted Hands I have found inspiring is, "Whatever direction we choose, if we can realize that every hurdle we jump strengthens us and prepares us for the next one, we're already on the way to success." (Carson 240). This quote is inspiring because it tells us to look at the bright side. I hope that I have inspired you to read Ben Carson's Gifted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reflecting upon the past and its experiences will enable me to broaden my communication, ability in solving conflicts and enrich my future expertise. To look back at my group work all this while helped me in gaining the knowledge to face the real world. Frankly saying never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience altogether. In contrast diversity in a group will help the members come up with non–identical ideas and views thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham, & Bonacum, 2004). All the members started feeling important in the team, which therefore overpowered the negatives arising due to the diversity. According to Waller (2004), Gupta (2004) & Giambatista (2004), proper communication without any deviations play a key role in boosting the productivity of the overall team. Nixon (2014), Johnson and Wiggs (2011) claimed that effective speaking is key for a good team. Also the research (Wu & Xiao, 2011; Peterson, 2012) supports my argument. It says that the individuals in a team should be frank in their approach and should stand by their own arguments until completely convinced by the logic. Hence I tried not to give up on my opinion as Danks (2012, p24) categorized 'a clear and reasoned thinker and communicator'. Clear communication and open expression of views and ideas will build up the cohesiveness of team. This in turn also develops a better understanding which is a must to work together. Later on, the work was delegated within us 'to improve the self, show courage, persistence and effective determination' (DuPont 2013, p.69). Delegation Can Be A Slippery Slope For Any Manager Delegation can be a very slippery slope for any manager, but it has become a necessary component of many organizational management structures. While it can be an extremely effective management strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected results. This is the case we see presented in the case study for this assignment. It seems that our manager/delegator, Ms. Wilson, is looking to remove some items from her current workload in order to facilitate more time to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be delegated. To her credit, she did take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily activities and reduce them to items that were able to be delegated. This is a crucial and key step, as discussed within our text. While we don't know the extent of the items that may have been included on this list, Ms. Wilson did narrow the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data and generating a monthly statistical report. It's at this point that I feel things went a bit astray in the delegation process that eventually would lead to the failure of the process. First, just as important and organizing and stratifying a list of tasks for delegation, is the process of organizing and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform those tasks. While we know in our case study that Ms. Wilson chose George Peters for the task, we don't have any indication that she performed her due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Task Set Reconfiguration Effect The Effect of Task Set Reconfiguration on Performance Teema J. Credle Brooklyn College Department of Psychology Abstract Task switching is the cognitive ability to switch between one task to the next. Research shows that when a person switches from one task to another, there will be a higher incidence of errors coupled with slower reaction time (switch cost) as opposed to trials where a person is doing the same task over and over (repeat trial). The switch cost is attributed to task–set reconfiguration because of the time it takes to reconfigure task–sets. In this task switch experiment we measured reaction times and error rates on both repeat trials and switch trials (task switches). Twenty–one participants from ... Whether you are a stay at home mom, student, or employee we can all find ways to be more efficient and productive as we set out to complete our various tasks. A suggestion for future research would be to create more real life experiments that people actually engage in frequently. Most of the current research is conducted on a computer and while I believe the results are accurate from these studies, I would like to see more studies where participants are engaging in more mundane activities. The results would probably be consistent with the findings from prior studies. A factor to consider is that the studies conducted in a lab on computers are quick, efficient, and concise. If we were to create a study where people were engaging in the same tasks (data entry/answering phone calls) as the Executive Assistant mentioned earlier, the method would be more complex and time consuming. However, I am intrigued to discover more on this topic by exploring other possibilities in different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Task Switching The Cost of Task Switching Humans are not like any other living species. Their cognitive ability allows them to preform both simple tasks and complex tasks. It is assumed that people carry out cognitive and motor tasks by tapping into their task–sets. Task–set is the cognitive process the brain takes to perform the task. Every time a person multitasks in order to get more stuff done faster they are experiencing task switching. For example, a student could be typing notes during the lecture and has to type and listen to the professor at the same time. Typing the lecture most probably will take longer since the student has to listen to the professor at the same time. From running a marathon to solving complex mathematical equations the brain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example of a task switching would be when an Olympian medalist has a 400 meter sprint and then has to perform 20 jumping jacks the brain has to quickly stop one motor act and start a new one. For us it might seem flawless but for an Olympian in a race every millisecond counts and that delay tends to raise one's reaction cost. This particular experiment tests if there is a significant difference in reaction time between task–switch and task–repeat. In other words, when one changes from doing one cognitive task to another does the brain "shift gears" and would the second task will be negatively affected. In other words, will there be a task switching cost. This may happen since the brain has to stop what it is doing and concentrate on a new cognitive and/or motor task. This is called the "task set reconfiguration (Monsell, 2003)", and causes a delay in one's reaction time which ultimately effects their performance on that task. Research has shown (Monsell, 2003) that switching between multiple task tend to raise one's reaction cost. This experiment recorded the error rate of task–switching versus task–repeat. This allowed us to prove that there is a significant difference between them and support the hypothesis of "task set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

AJ's lagging gross motor skills were further noted when participating in tandem balance. He was unable to maintain balance during the first trial and almost fell over multiple times. On the second trial he met the expectation for eight seconds before meeting the requirement of fifteen seconds on the last trial. The examiner noted that on the last trial AJ seemed to be concentrating at a greater degree as he did not laugh or make comments during the fifteen seconds. This could imply that, when participating in a gross motor task that requires balance, AJ must attend solely on the task to experience success. Throughout the subtest "catch the ball in cup," AJ was erratic and had difficulty maintaining control off his body and the ball. The examiner provided verbal directions and released AJ to complete the task. • 32. Why Do People Suffer Cost For Performance Faster And More... Taking on many different task and multitask is not something many are gifted at. Sometimes doing one task at a time becomes more beneficial then doing two or more at a time. In this research Brooklyn College students decided to test if performance faster and more accurate for task repeat thank task switches and do people suffer cost in performance when switching between two data? After trials of task multitasking with manipulations like task sequence and cue target delays it was concluded that task switching can cause task cost and task switching is with and with out delays are still slower then with no task switching. Task– switching– Task sequence effect of reaction time and error rate Taking on many tasks at the same time can be something very hard to do for some and something others can easily exceed at. Throughout our day we like to take on more then one task at a time to finish something faster or to minimize time but research has shown that task switch can cost us time. Stephen Monsell (2003) conducted a study called "Task Switching" and concluded that switching between tasks can cause us time because the brain required "loading time", which hinders the focus on the actual task. Loading time lets our brain focus completely on one task and when that loading time isn't completed it becomes hard to focus on that specific task; let alone execute it correctly. This causes us to take up time in between task switching because our brain tries to adjust to the task and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Gestalt psychology, the Zeigarnik effect has been used to demonstrate the general presence of Gestalt phenomena: not just appearing as perceptual effects, but also present in cognition. he advantage of remembrance can be explained by looking at Lewin's field theory: a task that has already been started establishes a task–specific tension, which improves cognitive accessibility of the relevant contents.[3] The tension is relieved upon completion of the task. If the task is interrupted, the reduction of tension is impeded. Through continuous tension, the content is made more easily accessible, and can be easily remembered.[3] ... A similar effect also happens over a longer period as we worry about those things in which we have not achieve closure. Specification Background to the topic: I visited my local video and music store and after an interview with the manager I suggested there might be a better and more efficient way to manage their records. The better way would be to be to use a computerized system through the use of excel. My main task would be to create a new system which would be much better than their current system at organising records and storing records. The main reason for me choosing a video, and music shop was that these days people would rather spend a certain amount of money on buying a certain video so that they can watch it at their will instead of having to pay a certain amount of money on going to see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However with the new system, none of these problems exist. The new system would be fully computerized and would allow the store to make backup copies very easily. The rental records could be easily checked as they could be viewed in alphabetical order, in date due order or in membership number order … this makes it easier for the store to see the same data in several different perspectives. This can be done by sorting the data in excel. There would be no need to record data in a book as by recording the data in excel you would be able to create a system where the data is updated when you a video in returned and therefore it means there is always an up to date list which can be viewed by the managers or staff on duty which would give them an up to date account of the videos late or required rental. Summary to the interview: I went to the manager and conducted an interview with him. I asked him several question as to what he wanted when the system was completed and he gave me a unique insight into what he wanted the system to have the ability to achieve when it was finished. • 52. Multitask Research Paper Findings regarding multitasking seems to be a lot of talk in Psychology. Theme four says that humans are responsible limited agents and we have agency, meaning the ability to act as agents in the world. This involves the ability to chose, but it is limited. This relates to multitasking. Multitasking is the practice of doing multiple things at the same time (SGWN pg 135). Theme four can relate to multitasking because having agency implies not only we make choices but also that we can change ourselves in some way. Theme four is relating to multitasking and saying that we have the choice to multitask and do multiple things at one time even though there are limitations on how much we are able to change since we exist in a particular time and place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This involves the ability to chose, but it is limited. I agree with that when it comes to multitasking because you can chose what two tasks you're going to try to accomplish at once. For example, if you chose to text and drive acting as agents in this world, that is your choice but it is limited because you are limited to paying full attention to the road if you text and drive. For example, as mentioned in SGWN with texting and driving, the drivers trying to multitask like this become so engaged in their conversations that their minds no longer seemed to be in the car (SGWN pg 135). This is a good example for the limited agency of theme four because the texting and driving limits the driver from paying attention to what they need to. Likewise, I agree with theme five as well. Theme five states that we are meaning seekers and we always make sense of things. Also, we seek meaning through experience. I agree with this relating to multitasking because people seek meaning through experience. With the example of the texting and driving, someone could seek the meaning through the experience of texting and driving. This study explores whether vigilance decrement can be explained by the resource theory or the mindlessness theory. The performance of 464 participants during a laboratory conducted dot location vigilance task lasting for twelve minutes. Six break activities were also conducted to reduce vigilance decrement. Out of the six, the Rest group had the greatest effect on vigilance decrement (no vigilance decrement) followed by the verbal memory group and the spatial memory group. With no breaks, the continuous group had the greatest decrement in performance, acting as a control. The results supported the use of the resource theory that a break of a different cognitive type improves performance but the demands of the task influence must also be considered (more demanding tasks drains resources at a faster rate). Introduction During the Second World War, Norman Mackworth observed that radar operators experienced a performance decline with time while they remained on watch by missing submarines and even mistaking friendly vessels for Nazi vessels. This was described as the vigilance decrement. When carrying out a vigilance task, where long and sustained periods of attention and concentration are crucial, a decline in performance in terms of accuracy and speed occurs as time goes on. While researching about articles, I have found unfamiliar words. In the process of finding the meaning I learnt many new words which helped build my vocabulary and writing skills. This course helped me to take my confidence to the next level. This course gave me opportunity to understand my strengths, weakness and myself. I altered my way of thinking and transformed to create an identity for myself. I feel confident and respect for myself after overcoming all these challenges. • 58. Analysis Of The Gods Must Be Crazy Based on the movie, "The Gods Must Be Crazy", the people of the Kalahari are able to sustain the elements of PERMA in their lives. By doing this they can have a happy, contented, and satisfying live amongst their people. The acronym PERMA stands for the people of the Kalahari being able to achieve positive emotions, engagement in activities, good relationships with others, a sense of meaning, and identifiable accomplishments in their lives. For starters, the Kalahari people demonstrate positive emotions by being able to obtain food and water each day. Positive emotions are also felt by interacting with each other and playing their inventive games within their family group. We can also see positive emotions are being felt because they ... While the fourth letter of the acronym stands for a sense of meaning. This is demonstrated through them completing tasks that help feed their family group. One example of this is shown when the hunters in the group apologize to the deer for having to kill it and telling it that they must feed their family. They also demonstrate a sense of meaning by showing younger members of their family group how to get water through means such as squeezing the shavings of a tuba. This is trying to ensure the survival of their family group not only in the present but in the future as well. The final letter of the acronym stands for accomplishments in their lives. This is done through setting up a goal to find water and laying out leaves the day beforehand to collect dew drops the following day. By planning this out it allows for the people of the Kalahari to accomplish their goal of finding water in their environment that has a scarce supply of it. Another goal of theirs that is set each day is finding food. This Is accomplished by hunting and gathering. By being able to kill an animal, collect berries, find tree roots, or catch bugs it will give these people a sense of accomplishment in their lives. The biggest goal I believe they are accomplishing is being able to survive. We can see that they are being able to accomplish this goal because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bethel University Student Analysis In a transitional setting, a university will have instructors who will lecture all semester long and have you complete two tests; one mid–term and a final exam. As well as have a set time and place for the aforementioned lecture to take place. In some universities attendance is not a requirement. They want you to pass the test in the middle and at the end of the year. You could be in a class with as many as two–hundred plus people which makes it almost impossible for the instructor to reach out to students who are having a hard time. • 62. The Importance Of A Time For A Person's Day There are many tasks and responsibilities that can arise in a person's day. In particular, juggling family, work, and school which is a very difficult and tiring task. Being disorganized can lead to a chaotic and stressful day. Using a time chart is useful and beneficial it can help you stay organized and keep daily activities more manageable. The first step to balancing my studies and family is to use a time chart. The time chart helps to keep my tasks in order and completed on time. It is helpful in reminding me about upcoming appointments whether it is at school or work, not to mention the other unexpected events that can also happen to make you forget what you were doing. Most of all, my time chart helps me look forward to taking breaks that I longed for after a long day's work. Even with a huge workload a time chart can help keep your to do list up to date, it helps you concentrate on one task at a time, and it helps you prioritize what needs to be done first. It is important to schedule your day the night before or when first arising. The first step I take to scheduling is to writing down my daily duties. Then find out what appointment I have pending. Next, I rearrange and organize to fit my schedule. This will keep duties in order and also help me find what is the most important daily activities. Do not forget to review the chart after completion; this is very crucial. This time chart lays out a step–by–step approach to the day. It also helps to remind me how long I ... This allows me to know from the start of the morning what needs to be achieved by the end of my day. I will be able to check off steps as they are completed and know if I am on the right track to completing my day's tasks. 2. Delegate – not everything needs to be done by me and me alone. A good manager knows how to delegate and who to delegate to. Task Switching Essay Running Head: Time Cost, Task–Switching, Repeating Tasks Task Switching Cost's Time Brooklyn College City University of New York Abstract A replication of Task Switching Monsell 2003 experiment was done, which predicts a time cost when switching tasks. 18 participants had to complete 100 randomized trials, switching between task–repeat and task–switching trials. Reaction Times (RT) were recorded and reflected by experimenters, to determine that there is a time cost involved when switching tasks as opposed to repeating the same task. Task–Switching Costs Time Many people take pride in the fact that they can multitask. A study "Task Switching" conducted by Monsell concluded that multitasking, or switching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When switching between tasks our brain goes between two different programs one for example for counting and one for reading, therefore costing us time to switch between these two tasks. In this experiment we tried to replicate the Monsell 2003 Task Switching experiment. 18 Participants took a brief task–switching test via program Revolution Maker©. Each trial was randomly assigned. The participants were presented with numbers one through nine and on each trial had to react to the number, to identify either its odd or even or if the magnitude was either less than 5 or more than 5. We hypothesis that when individuals are engaged in a cognitive task there is a time cost that occurs when asked to switch between tasks as opposed to repeating tasks. Methods Participants: 18 undergraduate students from Brooklyn College participated in this study. Materials:

  • 69. The Marine Air Ground Task Force On the basis of United States Code, Title 10, and joint doctrine, the Marine Corps, in coordination and cooperation with the Navy, has made logistical self–sufficiency an essential element of the Marine Air–Ground Task Force (MAGTF) expeditionary warfighting capabilities. This means that the Marine Corps' logistics mission, at all commands and support levels, is to generate MAGTFs that are rapidly deployable, self–reliant, self–sustaining, and flexible and that can rapidly reconstitute (Logistics Operations, 1999). While the Marine Corps is unmatched in its ability to be the most rapid responding force across the globe, a deficiency exists that should be addressed. Over the past decade, there have been numerous successful innovations in ground and aviation logistics, but they have lacked in standardization or integration within the MAGTF. Emerging operating concepts such as disaggregated MAGTF operations and seabasing, along with current fiscal constraints, are driving the need to further modernize and integrate MAGTF logistics in order to optimize support to the warfighter (Borrelli & Hodge, 2013). Independently, the logistical concepts and systems that exist for the ground elements and the aviation elements are proven to be effective and efficient, however, when the aviation and ground elements work in concert the response of logistical support is hindered. This paper will offer possible solutions to close the logistics gap between the Marines Corps' aviation and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Multitasking Can Make You Lose Um Focus Multitasking, helpful or harmful? In Alina Tugend's "Multitasking Can Make You Lose...Um...Focus", Tugend explores multitasking in several ways. Explaining how we as humans sacrifice focus "shifting focus from task to task gives illusion that we're simultaneously tasking". Also, how our brains react to operating and trying to do more than one task at once. Only one or two visual stimulants can activate our neurons at one particular time. Lastly, how we can recreate boundaries and cope with everyday life and multitasking. Tugend reiterates several times the importance of one task at a time so we as humans can effectively complete tasks to the best of our abilities instead of giving partial focus and not efficiently completely a task. Multitasking is very beneficial at times, but more often there are significant downfalls; it is crucial we learn how to manage the downfalls of juggling tasks, events, conversations, and daily events. First hand, I observe and participate in multitasking when I arrive at work every day. The job description of serving should basically state, multitask, keep a good attitude, multitask, smile, clean, multitask. I think you get the jest that serving is the definition of multitasking. On a daily basis I juggle between several tables with needy customers who expect nothing but a tremendous dining experience. Also, while juggling tables I manage to serve drinks, food, cash out my customers, and even engage in one on one talk. In this instance, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Sequencing Deficits Are Not Discriminatory Of Any Age Sequencing refers to the ability to carry out an activity in a logical, timely, and orderly manner (Early, 2006). Sequencing deficits are not discriminatory of any age and are commonly found in individuals with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, cognitive–perceptual disorders, and mental health disorders. Some diagnoses that are tied to sequencing deficits are CVA, TBI, Autism, ADHD, and dementia, to name a few (Occupational Therapy's Role in Cognitive Disorders, 2011). Sequencing deficits may range from minor to severe and require occupational therapy to increase successful completion of everyday activities by providing techniques that improve task sequencing. Sequencing comes as automatic thought for most individuals when performing a simple task, such as making a bed or brushing teeth. For instance, individuals whose sequencing abilities are intact will know that a fitted sheet must be placed onto a bed before a comforter, but for some with cognitive deficits or learning disabilities, this task may be confusing and difficult to remember. Due to cognitive decline, individuals that once had the ability to perform tasks in correct sequences may now have difficulty doing so. These difficulties are common in patients with dementia as memory declines (Clark et al., 2012). Individuals with sequencing deficits require some form of visual aid or verbal cueing to complete a task correctly. If an individual who has difficulty sequencing activities ... This is not in the book (own list), but the concept is from the book. For more effective use of my limited brain resources, I have to define my takes that I'm facing. It was urgent, and it was not so significant money to my life, so it didn't matter whatever I chose. I should have simplified it and focused on the important things. 3. Group information into chunks whenever you have too much information. This method is helpful for the next step. Even I finish defining my tasks and simplifying information, sometimes it is still confusing. After creating chunks for my tasks and grouping them, I can easily set the priorities. Usually my hunks are; "school – assignments, projects", "school – preparation for exams", "family affairs", "church affairs", and "financial management". 4.
