Nurse Prescribing Case Study
The aim of this assignment is to analyse the use of safe and effective prescribing which occurred in the student health visitors (HV)'s area of
practice under the supervision of the practice teacher. The case study will be developed on the seven principles of the prescribing pyramid (NPC,
1999) and Driscoll model of reflection will be used to reflect on the prescribing scenario. In accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery 's
professional code of conduct (NMC, 2015) confidentiality shall be maintained. Hence mother will be known as Debra and baby knows as Ella.

The NMC Code (2015) states that nurse must ensure the get informed consent before carrying out any action. On examination, Ella had very dry and
flaky skin with area of red patches and therefore it was diagnosed by the appearance and the elimination of other factors that Ella had mild eczema on
her face and arms. This was also confirmed by the practice teacher. Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition that causes intense itching of the
affected area and sometimes can be scaly red and itchy (National Eczema society, 2016). Assessment of eczema in babies and children must be holistic,
taking into account physical and psychosocial factors. There is no cure for eczema and treatments aim to control the disease. First–line treatment
consists of emollients, but many babies and children will also require the use of topical corticosteroids and other treatments as appropriate
(NICE,2007). Moreover, on observation the reddened area there appeared to be no signs of broken skin, infection therefore requiring antibiotics or
topical steroid treatment (NICE, 2007). There was currently no need for a General Practitioner (GP) referral and as advised in the NPC (1999) only in
genuine need should prescriptions be

Eczema Research Paper
Growing up, I had a condition that affected me and gave me a very hard time, writing this paper I was able to learn a lot about my condition. Eczema
is a dry skin condition in which skin becomes inflamed and irritated. Eczema originates from a Greek word, "ekzein" which means "to boil," it is also
called dermatitis. Eczema causes the skin to be dry, scaly, red and itchy. In worst case scenarios, the skin will crust or bleed. Eczema always makes the
body prone to infections because constant itching may lead up to the skin splitting and bleeding. Eczema is usually associated with having allergies,
asthma and hay fever.
Eczema can affect people of all ages but are usually seen in children. In the United States about 10–20% of infants and 3%

Eczema And Asthma
Eczema is simply an itchy inflammation of the skin that can show up as red, crusty patches on the skin. Eczema not only occurs in adults but also in
babies, eczema is hereditary, if a relative have had Eczema, Asthma, or even Hay Fever more than likely it will get passed down. Eczema is not
contagious. A breakdown of the skin barrier andinflammation in the skin that occurs in eczema could play a key role in triggering food sensitivity in
babies according to the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. Eczema and food allergies are connected in a fascinating way. These foods are used in
everyday life; eggs, milk, wheat, soy, peanuts, and even fish. The reaction to these food allergies varies from the person but 9 times out of 10 most of the

Atopic Dermatitis Research
Atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema, is a form of chronic skin condition. An estimated 15–20% of children in New Zealand suffer from this. There
have been numerous studies examining the relationship between eczema and quality of life. Results reveal that as severity is high, quality of life is
low. Although these researches provide evidence for the effects ofeczema, they do not examine the effects of eczema and self esteem on the severity
of eczema together. This current proposed research aims to identify whether quality of life and self esteem has an impact on severity for children aged
between two and eighteen in a cross–sectional design. It is hypothesized that quality of life will be lowest for teenagers and therefore their self esteem

Psychoneuroimmunology looks at the relationship between psychosocial influences, mind, behaviour, immune system and patient's health
(Webber, 2010). An underlying model of research is that when an individual is faced with a stressful event, their immune system worsens which
leads to a decline in their health. There are two ways in which stress affects an individual's health; directly and indirectly. Direct stresses are those
where physiological changes are a result of stress related arousal such as damage to blood vessels. An example of this is the patient scratching the
affected area when a flare up occurs. This leads to stress in the bodily system causing the severity to exacerbate. On the other hand, indirect stress
is stressors that are related to a change in behaviour or thinking in the individual which then leads to illness. An example would be a decline in
quality of life as a result of eczema flare up, leading to teasing from peers and a change in their thinking. As a result, their self esteem decreases
leading to an increase in eczema severity. There have been studies conducted to indicate that eczema flare ups are a result of everyday psychosocial
stress such as death of a loved one or even school or work related stress. Stress has also been found to change the homeostasis of the skin barrier which
results in flare ups of eczema (Choi et al., 2005 cited by

Eczema
WHAT IS ECZEMA?
Eczema is a category of skin disease that is characterized by inflammation, itching, dry scaly skin, and in severe cases, small fluid filled blisters and
insomnia. It is the most common skin disease in children today.
Mild cases of Eczema are a little worse than a tendency toward dry, itching skin.
Severe cases can effect the whole body, can be intensely itchy, uncomfortable, and even have an effect on the person in a psychological manner due to
self– consciousness. Eczema sufferers have acute flare–ups or relapses of their chronic disease that can be annoying, itchy, and very uncomfortable.

Now, with the wonderful discovery of one of the genes that may cause eczema, who knows what will happen. They are working on ways to
permanently rid people of eczema all the time, but knowing exactly where the "instructions" on how to create the disease are located make finding a
cure more likely.
WHAT CAUSES ECZEMA TO FLARE UP?
There are many things that can trigger or worsen cases of eczema. The number one cause of eczema flare–ups is emotional stress. Anger, frustration,
anxiety, family hostility, rejection, and guilt can complicate the problem of eczema. Irritants such as soaps, solvents, and laundry detergent can
provoke it also. The only way to keep irritants from triggering eczema is to avoid them by using substitutes like a non–soap cleaning agent. Allergens
in food and the air can also cause eczema to flare–up. Dietary management and air purifiers can help keep allergens under control. Infections of both a
viral and bacterial nature can cause eczema to relapse. When the immune system is weak from illness, eczema sufferers are more prone to break outs
of greater seriousness and discomfort. WHAT ARE SOME COMMON TYPES OF ECZEMA?
There are many forms of eczema. Some forms are not specific and cannot be clearly categorized although, most cases fit into one of the following

Botox injections have gained in popularity over the last two decades. Prior to the Botox fad, the primary resource people had for cosmetic
augmentation was plastic surgery. Botox presented an alternative to going under the knife, an option that was often less costly. Yet, Botox is not risk
free, nor is it perfect.
Scientifically, Botox is a shortened name for the neurotoxic protein Botulinum Toxin. It is solely produced in nature by the bacteria Clostridium
botulinum, and is now created purposefully in laboratories. When inhaled or ingested, botulinum leads to a fatal disease called botulism. Though the
FDA has approved the use of Botox in cosmetic procedures, it strictly warns that injections of this bacteria can move from the site of introduction to
other internal body parts, causing botulism symptoms.
Patients must understand that Botox does not erase the signs of aging, and it does not fill wrinkles or shrink sagging skin. What Botox does is render
the muscles underneath the injection site useless, for up to 4 months. During that time, the person will not be able to make the facial expressions that
cause those wrinkles or sagging to be pronounced. Botox, like many other drugs and bacteria, has a list of side effects. These can include dizziness,
drowsiness, headache, rash, and muscle spasms. In severe cases, the patient will experience harmful swelling and even ulcers in the face.

Food Allergies Research Paper
Food allergies, An Emerging Public Health Issue
In United States
Akash M. Doshi
Western Kentucky University
Introduction
Food allergies are the major trouble for United States. The statistics states that 1 in every 13 children has one or any kind of food allergies in the
United States and there are approximately 50% increases in food allergy rates from 1997 to 2013 (Centers for Disease Control and prevention,
2013).There are 8 types of food allergies most common in United States like milk, peanut, fish, shellfish, wheat, soya, eggs and tree nut (Branum, A.,
Lukacs, S., 2008). Peanuts, shellfish and tree nut allergies are generally lifelong allergies (Branum, A., Lukacs, S., 2008). Most often food allergies

These will lead to anaphylactic reaction. Sometimes anaphylactic reaction may lead to death. There has not been much data collected for food allergies
in the United State, but the data which was collected suggests that food allergies are going to be a major public health concern.
Statistics
There are 15 million people living with food allergies in the United States and from this population, 9 million adults have food allergies, which are
4% of the entire population, and 6 million children have food allergies, which are 8% of the entire population (Branum, A., Lukacs, S., 2008). So,
children are twice as likely to develop food allergies in comparison to adults. Boys have higher risk chances of food allergies in comparison to girls
(Liu, A.H., et al., 2010). As the number of people with food allergies increases, it increases the number of people with anaphylaxis. It will also increase
the health expense. Food allergies result in 300,000 ambulatory–care visits every year (Branum A., Lukacs S., 2008). Around 35% to 50 % of

The Dark Color Is Used For Decoration And Hair Dyeing
In many Asian and African countries, mehndi, also known as henna, is used for decoration and hair dyeing. Lawsone, the active chemical in mehndi,
stains the skin and hair. It leaves behind a tint ranging from brown to red, most often the color of rust. The deeper the red, the more desirable the
color, the goal being a burgundy stain on the skin and hair. This color is difficult to obtain with natural mehndi, so manufacturers of mehndi cones
often add various synthetic chemicals to deepen the color. One such chemical is parapheylenediamine (referred to henceforth as PPD). With the
chemical formula C₆H₄(NH₂)₂, PPD is in dark cosmetics, gasoline, and black rubber among other substances. The dark color is achieved by
oxidation. When semi–oxidized or in the process of oxidizing, it has a higher chance of triggering an allergic reaction. More often now than in the past,
mehndi manufacturers have been labelling their products "chemical–free". While this title is admittedly false, it does bring a real problem to light.
Chemical–free is often a misnomer, as everything is made of chemicals. This title serves to convince the public of a product's safety. While most
products are perfectly safe despite the worry surrounding this claim, mehndi cones that make this claim are safer than mehndi cones that do not. PPD is
a pigment enhancer that can cause allergic reactions and severe complications, especially to the skin and kidneys. Mehndi without this chemical are far
safer than those with

Eczema and Dermatitis Essay example
Dermatitis is a general term that describes an inflammation of the skin. There are different types of dermatitis, including seborrheic dermatitis and
atopic dermatitis (eczema). Although the disorder can have many causes and occur in many forms, it usually involves swollen, reddened and itchy
skin. (www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/dermatitis–000048.htm) Dermatitis is a common condition that usually isn't life–threatening or contagious. But, it
can make you feel uncomfortable and self–conscious. A combination of self–care steps and medications can help you treat dermatitis. The different

Also, the area of the skin on which the symptoms appear tends to be different with every type of dermatitis. The symptoms of contact dermatitis
usually appear at the site where the allergen got into contact with the skin. Also, the symptoms of neurodermatitis are limited to a single area, often
the neck, wrist, forearm, thigh or ankle. More rarely, the primary symptom of this condition which is itchy skin may appear on the genital area, such
as the vulva or scrotum. Symptoms of this type of dermatitis may be very intense and may come and go. Irritant contact dermatitis is usually more
painful than itchy. Although the symptoms of atopic dermatitis vary from person to person, the most common symptoms are dry, itchy, red skin.
Typical affected skin areas include the folds of the arms, the back of the knees, wrists, face and hands. Less commonly there may be cracks behind the
ears, and various other rashes on any part of the body. Itching is the primary symptoms of this condition. Dermatitis herpetiformis symptoms include
itching, stinging and a burning sensation. Papules and vesicles are commonly present. The small red bumps experienced in this type of dermatitis are
usually about 1 cm in size, red in color and may be found symmetrically grouped or distributed on

Eczema And The Integumentary System

like eczema? Eczema is a chronic, common, non–infective inflammatory condition characterized by intense pruritus, redness, and scaling (Eczema,
p.1). This condition can appear at any age, but it usually occurs during infancy or early childhood (Eczema, p.1). Eczema or any skin disease are the
most common group of occupational health problems leading to absence from work (Eczema, p.1). Several factors play a big role in eczema, both

the scabs created from scratching. If you do not treat eczema with any topical steroids or continue to scratch it will cause it to rapidly worsen in
such way as it becoming infected, huge blisters intensified itching (Eczema, p. 6). Eczema is widespread, all throughout the world, depending on
your surrounding environment or your genetic makeup you can become affected with it. Eczema is painful in such a way of intense itching that
can leave to tears in the skin or an infection. There is no way to test for it so there is no way to cure it only ease symptoms. My cousin has eczema

What Is Peanut Allergy?
There has been a significant increase in the prevalence of peanut allergies over the past 10 years. A major issue is whether consumption of peanuts in
early infancy decreases or increases the incidence of peanut allergy later in life. About 3% of children in Australia have a peanut allergy and about
20% of children will be able to consume peanuts as adults. Some of the symptoms of peanut allergy include; swelling of lips, Uricaria, eczema and

Jewish infants in the United Kingdom have a 10 times greater rate of peanut allergies than infants of similar heritage in Israel. Some researchers have
attributed this to dietary differences early in life. Infants in the United Kingdom quite seldomly consume peanuts in the same quantities as though in
Israel. The contrast in diet has led to some researchers to hypothesize that early consumption of peanuts may confer some kind of advantage in terms of
preventing allergy development. They also suspect that due to the comparative immaturity of some children's immune system, allergic–reactivity to
food has a greater predisposition to develop throughout early life. For genetically predisposed infants more exposure to peanuts throughout childhood
sometimes translates into greater peanut sensitization later in life. Moreover, infants from Asian country have been found to have an overall lower
incidence of peanut allergies. The trend has been attributed to unique food preparation methodologies found in these regions. In Asian countries, such
as China, it is common practice to eat peanuts raw or boiled as opposed to roasted or fried in oil like in many Western nations. This is significant as
the quantities of Arah1 (a key peanut allergen) are up to 22 times greater in roasted peanuts

It is the most common skin infection seen in young children.
Impetigo is due to a germ known as "Staphylococcus aureus" in hot climates it may be due to "Streptococcus pyogenes" or a mixture of the two.
These germs pass from person to person, and can spread rapidly through families and school classes through skin–to–skin contact or, less often, by
bedding, clothing and towels. However impetigo can even arrive out of the blue, with no clue of where it came from.
Germs causing impetigo can invade normal skin, but can also take advantage of skin that has already been damaged by cuts or grazes, insect bites,
head lice, scabies, cold sores, or eczema.
Impetigo can appear anywhere, but is most common on exposed areas of skin such as the face, around the nose, mouth and on the hands. Initially it
appears as groups of thin–roofed pus–filled blisters which tend to break quickly to leave round oozing patches covered with crusts. The patches are
small at first but slowly get bigger.

Eczema Essay
In broad terms, eczema is defined as an noncontagious skin disorder that causes red, dry, itchy, or scaly patches of skin. There are many different types
of eczema, atopic eczema being the most prevalent. To better understand this common condition we must examine common variations and how they
effect the body, what causes this condition, and the various treatments to lessen eczema's effects.
Seborrhoeic dermatitis manifests itself in areas of the skin that produce large amounts of sebum. Its is often seen around the areas of the face, scalp,
and trunk. It affects all age groups and is incurable, though the effects can be kept under control. Symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis include dandruff
on the scalp and red, scaly areas on the affected skin. The oiliness of the skin is believed to play a major role in the appearance of this condition,
though the exact causes are poorly understood. Diagnosis involves examining the skin cells to rule out conditions such as psoriosis that have a similar

This variation is seen more commonly in young adults. Though the exact causes are debated, pompholyx eczema is frequently observed in hotter
regions. Genetics, as well as contact with irritants such as water, solvents, and detergents, are also believed to play a role in the appearance of this
type of eczema. The condition is most commonly diagnosed by a close examination of the skin, but a skin biopsy may be necessary to rule out other
possible causes of these symptoms such as a fungal infection. Antihistamines, cold packs, or the application of wet dressings soaked in potassium
permanganate or aluminum acetate are all treatments for this condition. Irritants should also be avoided by wearing gloves. Steroid preparation can be

Kennedy had just turned nine months when she got her first true diaper rash. Needless to say, I was shocked when I realized she had what seemed to
be a yeast rash, quickly realizing where I went wrong.
Since she was a newborn part of our bed time routine has been to put on a fresh diaper and a thick layer of Burt's Bees diaper rash ointment. A couple of
weeks ago I had just ran out of the Burt's Bees, so I used a different ointment and that is when it happened...she woke up with her first nasty rash! I
have since ordered multiple bottles and will not be without my Burt's Bees Ointment (Please know that although there are affiliate links on this post, I
am in no way affiliated with Burt's Bees, I just really like their rash ointment and have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sure enough, that's the suggestion I got. I knew it would be harsh on her baby skin, but did not have the time or ingredients to make my own ointment
(a friend suggested I try Mamma Natural's ointment... I now have all the ingredients for it; although, I hope I don't ever have to use it, I will review if
I do). Feeling a bit guilty about using something so harsh, I started with the treatment right away. This is what I did:
1.I switched to Water wipes. I typically use the Honest Brand wipes; although they are natural they contain ingredients that could irritate the skin and
aggravate the rash further. Water wipes are made of 99.9% water and .01% grapefruit seed extract. They tend to be pricy, so I only use them when I
feel she needs something extra gentle.
2.Switched from Honest diapers to Bamboo diapers, again although, Honest diapers are natural, I find the Bamboo diapers to be even more gentle and
breathable. Because the Bamboo diapers fluctuate in price on Amazon I tend to switch between the two and only order them when they are about .35
per diaper.
3.Checked her diaper more frequently than usual and rinsed her bottom with warm water after every poop. Also made sure to let it air dry after the

Essay On Eczema Flarees
Managing eczema flares can be difficult, and when living with eczema, you primary goal should be to prevent eczema flares instead of only treating
it when it occurs. You may not be able to prevent all eczema flares, as some triggers are out of your control, but you can minimize flares by following
these tips.
1. Use a Gentle, Ph–balanced Skin Cleanser
There are several elements that contribute to a good cleanser for eczema–prone skin, but the two most important factors are that the cleanser is made of
only gentle sufactants and that it is the same pH level as healthy skin.
As a general rule, avoid bar soaps. Typical bar soaps are highly alkaline, and they disrupt your skin's natural lipid layer greatly. Some foaming cleansers
also have high pHs and should be avoided. Look for a cleanser with a pH level between 4.5 and 5.5, as this will prevent disturbance of ... Show more

Also, look for added skin–soothing ingredients, such as colloidal oatmeal and soothing natural oils.
2. Optimize Your Post–shower Routine
After taking a cool to warm shower (never hot) with a gentle cleanser, it is the perfect time to feed moisture back into your skin that even the most
gentle cleanser can remove. Apply a moisturizer to moist skin that is full of skin–soothing ingredients, such as colloidal oatmeal and ceramides.
Ceramides are natural components of healthy skin that are often lacking in eczema–prone and other disordered skin types.
Your moisturizer should also include an occlusive, such as petroleum jelly, that forms a protective barrier between your skin and the environment.
Occlusives also help prevent TEWL, or trans–epidermal water loss, that contributes to dry skin. It can be a great idea to slather a layer of pure
petroleum jelly over your moisturizer to get the added benefit of this extra layer of occlusive.

Eczema is the familial term used in reference to atopic dermatitis, a common skin condition characterized by chronic inflammation. It causes erythema,
scaling, itching, crusting and oozing of the skin. The exact etiology of this condition remains unknown although it is suspected that genetic factors as
well as environmental factors might play a role in the development of atopic dermatitis in an individual[1].
In 2009, Haslund and colleagues conducted a study to evaluate the prevalence of
Staphylococcus aureus in patients with hand eczema compared to controls. Results showed that the bacterium was found in 48% of patients with hand
eczema, which was significantly higher than the 8% of controls[2]. Also, through cultures obtained from the

Indeed, immunologic differences were observed between the skins of healthy individuals and atopic individuals. The indications were that an
immunologic dysregulation might be an important factor contributing to the etiology of atopic dermatitis. In this case, an immunomodulatory agent,
i.e, corticosteroids, should also be considered in the treatment of eczema to address this possible issue, as well as considered for long–term treatment
of the condition[16]. Furthermore, a genetically defective skin barrier function is a predisposing factor to atopic dermatitis that cannot be ignored. It
was observed that 15% of atopic individuals have a defective filaggrin gene, a crucial component in epidermal homeostasis. In these cases, bleach baths
wouldn't be beneficial, as they would not be treating the underlying problem[17].
Further, while the studies on bleach baths have shown encouraging results, one must nonetheless take into account that the worldwide use of sodium
hypochlorite might have possible side effects. More importantly, as mentioned earlier, if the sodium hypochlorite solution isn't capable of eradicating
the bacteria completely, does this treatment

that a majority of a child's class is food allergy free. This can cause issues with bullying between classmates and peers within the school. "A recent

it involves a food allergic child. Classmates can physically hurt the food allergic child by bringing the food to class or taunting them with the food in

A Case Discussion On Eczema
A CASE DISCUSSION ON ECZEMA Abstract
Eczema is a form of dermatitis where inflammation of epidermis occurs. The exact cause of eczema is not known. Although it is activated by the
immune system and is related to allergic reactions, it is not the same as other allergic reactions. Controlling eczema more effectively can make a
radical improvement to the patient 's quality of life. A case report of an 11–year–old male who has a severe eczema presented with complaints of rashes,
intense itchy and may scale and blisters has been presented here.
Keyword: Eczema. Introduction
The word eczema comes from the Greek word ekzein meaning "to boil out"; word ek means "out", while zema means boiling (Varanasi, 2000 in
Hedge et.al, 2010). The exact cause of eczema is not known. People with eczema do have the IgE antibodies (immunoglobulin E) produced by the
immune system as part of allergic reactions. Eczema can be a difficult and frustrating condition. The psychological challenge faced by the patients of
eczema is insurmountable. The natural human desire to scratch an itchy rash just makes the condition worse.
In 2009 a study carried out by scientists at the University of Edinburgh concluded that the defects in a particular gene known as the filaggrin gene are
linked to a considerably amplified risk of developing allergic disorders such as eczema, rhinitis, and asthma (Varanasi, 2000 in Hedge et.al, 2010). The
typical locations of eczema include the face (scalp and around the eyes), the

The Importance Of Food Allergies
When I was thirteen years old, I developed a gluten allergy. In the United States, over three million people are diagnosed with food allergies every year,
and over 50 million people have pre–existing food allergies. Dealing with a gluten allergy was difficult for me, and I had to make changes in my life
that affected me in multiple ways. I am not the only person who has ever had to experience a gluten allergy; however, I am part of a much smaller
population of people who develop allergies later in life. In fact, roughly 6% of Americans are born with a food allergy and approximately 8% of
people develop allergies by the time they are 12 years old. Only 2% of people develop allergies around the age I did. When people have allergies,
there are a plethora of new pieces of information and facts they have to learn about their specific allergy in order to keep themselves healthy. Staying
healthy is not only a challenge for the allergy sufferers, but for everyone around them. Being on a gluten free diet means that the patient cannot eat any
wheat–based products. These include pastas, breads, baked goods, fried foods, and many more common dishes. Many people have to follow this diet
whether they have celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or they just want to live a healthier lifestyle. However, patients have to know how to supplement
these foods and still get the right nutrients. Eating gluten free is definitely a big change, and it takes awhile to adjust to this lifestyle

younger children (affecting about 5–8% of younger children). Fortunately, most younger children will outgrow these food allergies by the time that
they are three years old.
Symptoms of a food allergies can often include wheezing and difficulty in breathing, along with itchy skin rashes, including hives, vomiting, diarrhea,

If anyone notices that a child develops symptoms after being exposed to certain foods, then the child should avoid such foods. The most common
foods that can cause allergies include: peanuts, tree nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc.), fish, shellfish, eggs (especially egg whites), milk, soy, and wheat.
Keeping a diary for a few weeks and recording what foods a child has been eating, especially new foods, and when they develop symptoms may help
figure out what they are allergic to. This is often what professionals encourage families to do to get to the true cause of what is making them so ill.
Once it has been determined what a child is allergic to, it is important to learn to read food labels because the food a child is allergic to may be an
ingredient of many other foods. They should also avoid eating foods that may have been prepared using equipment that was also used to prepare the
types of food that the child is allergic to.
When trying to determine what a child is allergic to, parents often incorrectly assume that if they have eaten a food before and not had problems, then
they are probably not allergic to that food. Parents usually only suspect new foods as being able to cause a food allergy. However, it is important to keep

There have been numerous studies examining the relationship between eczema and quality of life. Results reveal that as severity is high, quality of life is low. Although these researches provide evidence for the effects ofeczema, they do not examine the effects of eczema and self esteem on the severity of eczema together. This current proposed research aims to identify whether quality of life and self esteem has an impact on severity for children aged between two and eighteen in a cross–sectional design. Psychoneuroimmunology looks at the relationship between psychosocial influences, mind, behaviour, immune system and patient's health (Webber, 2010). An underlying model of research is that when an individual is faced with a stressful event, their immune system worsens which leads to a decline in their health. There are two ways in which stress affects an individual's health; directly and indirectly. Direct stresses are those where physiological changes are a result of stress related arousal such as damage to blood vessels. An example of this is the patient scratching the affected area when a flare up occurs. This leads to stress in the bodily system causing the severity to exacerbate. On the other hand, indirect stress is stressors that are related to a change in behaviour or thinking in the individual which then leads to illness. An example would be a decline in quality of life as a result of eczema flare up, leading to teasing from peers and a change in their thinking. As a result, their self esteem decreases leading to an increase in eczema severity. There have been studies conducted to indicate that eczema flare ups are a result of everyday psychosocial stress such as death of a loved one or even school or work related stress. Stress has also been found to change the homeostasis of the skin barrier which results in flare ups of eczema (Choi et al., 2005 cited by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are working on ways to permanently rid people of eczema all the time, but knowing exactly where the "instructions" on how to create the disease are located make finding a cure more likely. WHAT CAUSES ECZEMA TO FLARE UP? There are many things that can trigger or worsen cases of eczema. The number one cause of eczema flare–ups is emotional stress. Anger, frustration, anxiety, family hostility, rejection, and guilt can complicate the problem of eczema. Irritants such as soaps, solvents, and laundry detergent can provoke it also. The only way to keep irritants from triggering eczema is to avoid them by using substitutes like a non–soap cleaning agent. Allergens in food and the air can also cause eczema to flare–up. Dietary management and air purifiers can help keep allergens under control. Infections of both a viral and bacterial nature can cause eczema to relapse. When the immune system is weak from illness, eczema sufferers are more prone to break outs of greater seriousness and discomfort. WHAT ARE SOME COMMON TYPES OF ECZEMA? There are many forms of eczema. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Botox injections have gained in popularity over the last two decades. Prior to the Botox fad, the primary resource people had for cosmetic augmentation was plastic surgery. Botox presented an alternative to going under the knife, an option that was often less costly. Yet, Botox is not risk free, nor is it perfect. Scientifically, Botox is a shortened name for the neurotoxic protein Botulinum Toxin. It is solely produced in nature by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum, and is now created purposefully in laboratories. When inhaled or ingested, botulinum leads to a fatal disease called botulism. Though the FDA has approved the use of Botox in cosmetic procedures, it strictly warns that injections of this bacteria can move from the site of introduction to other internal body parts, causing botulism symptoms. Patients must understand that Botox does not erase the signs of aging, and it does not fill wrinkles or shrink sagging skin. What Botox does is render the muscles underneath the injection site useless, for up to 4 months. During that time, the person will not be able to make the facial expressions that cause those wrinkles or sagging to be pronounced. Botox, like many other drugs and bacteria, has a list of side effects. These can include dizziness, drowsiness, headache, rash, and muscle spasms. In severe cases, the patient will experience harmful swelling and even ulcers in the face. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Dark Color Is Used For Decoration And Hair Dyeing In many Asian and African countries, mehndi, also known as henna, is used for decoration and hair dyeing. Lawsone, the active chemical in mehndi, stains the skin and hair. It leaves behind a tint ranging from brown to red, most often the color of rust. The deeper the red, the more desirable the color, the goal being a burgundy stain on the skin and hair. This color is difficult to obtain with natural mehndi, so manufacturers of mehndi cones often add various synthetic chemicals to deepen the color. One such chemical is parapheylenediamine (referred to henceforth as PPD). With the chemical formula C₆Hв‚„(NHв‚‚)в‚‚, PPD is in dark cosmetics, gasoline, and black rubber among other substances. The dark color is achieved by oxidation. When semi–oxidized or in the process of oxidizing, it has a higher chance of triggering an allergic reaction. More often now than in the past, mehndi manufacturers have been labelling their products "chemical–free". While this title is admittedly false, it does bring a real problem to light. Chemical–free is often a misnomer, as everything is made of chemicals. This title serves to convince the public of a product's safety. While most products are perfectly safe despite the worry surrounding this claim, mehndi cones that make this claim are safer than mehndi cones that do not. PPD is a pigment enhancer that can cause allergic reactions and severe complications, especially to the skin and kidneys. Mehndi without this chemical are far safer than those with ... Jewish infants in the United Kingdom have a 10 times greater rate of peanut allergies than infants of similar heritage in Israel. Some researchers have attributed this to dietary differences early in life. Infants in the United Kingdom quite seldomly consume peanuts in the same quantities as though in Israel. The contrast in diet has led to some researchers to hypothesize that early consumption of peanuts may confer some kind of advantage in terms of preventing allergy development. They also suspect that due to the comparative immaturity of some children's immune system, allergic–reactivity to food has a greater predisposition to develop throughout early life. For genetically predisposed infants more exposure to peanuts throughout childhood sometimes translates into greater peanut sensitization later in life. Moreover, infants from Asian country have been found to have an overall lower incidence of peanut allergies. The trend has been attributed to unique food preparation methodologies found in these regions. The indications were that an immunologic dysregulation might be an important factor contributing to the etiology of atopic dermatitis. Furthermore, a genetically defective skin barrier function is a predisposing factor to atopic dermatitis that cannot be ignored. It was observed that 15% of atopic individuals have a defective filaggrin gene, a crucial component in epidermal homeostasis. In these cases, bleach baths wouldn't be beneficial, as they would not be treating the underlying problem[17]. Controlling eczema more effectively can make a radical improvement to the patient 's quality of life.
