Mother and father die and

step mother who turns her into a
servant for the house with her
step sisters Anastasia and Drizella.
The king determined that his
son should find a suitable
bride and provide him with a
required number of
grandchildren. Therefore the
king invites every maiden in
the kingdom to a fancy dress
ball so his son will be able to
chose his bride.
Cinderella doesn't stand much of attending
the kings royal ball because she has no
suitable party dress for a ball. Her friends
the mice and birds lend a hand making her
one but the evil stepsisters immediately
tear apart the dress.
Cinderella turns to her fairy godmother
who helps her with a new dress and a
pumpkin carriage which takes her to the
ball however at the stroke of midnight
everything will turn back to normal.
Cinderella marries the prince with
her mice and bird friends watching
her getting into the carriage, and
riding off to a happily ever after.
Character type How they appear in your story
The Hero Cinderella appears like a kind hearted and caring character who is treated with disrespect
and a servant to her own family and is determined to get away from her family which
becomes a success at the end of this story.
The Villian The Step Mother and Two Daughters appear jealous of Cinderella and the mother focuses
on her children not including Cinderella they also appear cruel, evil and very stuck up.
The Helper Mice and birds also appear helpful because they help with making the dress and getting
information to Cinderella.
The Donor Fairy god mother is also the one who sends out the help by making her dress and giving
her equipment needed to escape her family and get to the ball for example (the carriage
turns into a pumpkin carriage.)
The Dispatcher Fairy god mother appears to sent of information to the mice and birds to help Cinderella
get to the ball.
The Princess or prize This could be the prince but also just freedom as she wants to be free from he family and
by marrying the prince this allows her freedom.

What Cinderella decides she wants to go to the ball and changes her appearance until midnight with the help of the
mice and her fairy godmother behind her stepmothers back and the prince finds Cinderella's shoe and it
matches her size but the step mum throws the shoe causing it to shatter to pieces but Cinderella had the other
shoe. She marries the prince and gets into the carriage and lives happily ever after.
Why This takes place because Cinderella doesn't like her family after both of her parents died and her other family
treat her as a servant therefore she wants to have her freedom and the only way she can do this is go to the ball
and be notice by the prince and marry him which means she wont see her family every again or be a servant for
them.
When This takes place in the 17th century.
Where This takes place in France because this fairy tale was French which most scenes are in the castle and a ball.
How This is achieved getting help from the fairy godmother and mice to use her magic to make Cinderella look like a
princess and have the transport to get to the ball without being caught this is achieved although this only lasts
until midnight.

What They spend the day in the desert as a group sight seeing this desert is in the middle of no where and whilst
there is a volcano due to irrupt which puts everyone in danger and no planes are able to fly over, therefore
they become a team to try escape the desert which the prize would be being able to stay alive and get back
home. However there is a villain within the group who only cares about saving himself this becomes a
challenge. And in the end the hero saves all the other people against the villain by a plane coming to rescue
them at the last minute.
Why This is because there are no flights which means there is a high risk they will die, whilst having the villain who
wants everyone else to die except from him and save only himself this is why the hero tries to leave him
behind on the desert.

How This will happen by the hero defeating the villain because the villain tries to kill most of the other people to
fight for himself so by fighting for there life and once they see the plane arriving to come and save them the
villain runs just as the plane is about to take off and the hero pushes him out of the plane causing him to be
left stranded on the desert.

What This begins with a villain who plans to capture the princess from the prince once he finds the princess
whilst she is home alone he captures her and takers her to a castle. However the donor (bird) was with the
princess at the time.(but nobody knew this) therefore she sends out information to the prince to find the
princess. Once he arrives at the castle he has to fight for her and in the end he is the hero who saves the
princess.
Why The reasoning behind this is because the villain is a lonely person and is jealous of the princes lifestyle as he
gets what he wants, the princess also has a special necklace which holds power and the villain wants this to
be able to become more powerful over people and take over the world.

Where This will be located in a castle.
How This will happen by the prince defeating the villain with the power of the necklace and using this to kill him.

What A group of people are on a quest to find gold which has been buried on an island they get on a boat and
arrive but problems occur because there is a false hero who lives on the island and finds the people and
pretends to help them out but really he has been o n the island for 12 years trying to find the gold so
once they find it with him he steals all the gold but one of the members of the group notice him stealing
so they all have to take on the false hero for the gold in he end the group leave with the gold whilst the
false hero remains stuck on the island.
Why This happens because the the false hero is greedy and wanted all the gold to exchange for money once
he finds a way to get of the island whereas the team members want the gold to be able to share. The
false hero pretends to be friendly but plans traps and false information so that the team believe and fall
into his trap to make them stay on the island and him be free however this fails.

Where On a island in the middle of no where.
How The team members notice the traps which the false hero has set and makes traps to trap him for
example; dropping a sheet which catches him to be stuck so that the members make it off the island
quick enough with the treasure they find.

Existing Product
magazine film cover
The image used in this film magazine is a medium shot as it doesn't show his whole
body and isn't too close up. This image is used of a main character in a film and placed
in the center of the magazine, to focus the main attention on him and will pull the
audience in. This is also shown by the character being placed in front of the masthead
to show he is the main character. Another effect which stands out is the background
used which looks like it was a picture taken in a tropical island location and a picture of
the character and put this together. I think this makes the image stand out a lot more
with the contrast of the colours used such as blue mainly in the background and a lot of
yellows. Lots of colours are used, sometimes this can miss match, but this works well as
there's a selection of 2 colours which are repeated a lot. The fonts used are mostly sans
serif and in capitals with the cover lines and masthead which really grabs the attention
as almost if the font is shouting out to the audience. The mise en scene of the
characters facial expressions come across serious with a straight face and his body
language is confident as he is stood with his arms out which shows his confidence. This
also reveals the type of character he is in the film by the body language. Secondly, the
costume and props also show his character through colour schemes which are quite
muted and restrained to focus on background colours. The picture ratio is small
because there is only one main image which you can focus on which is surrounded by a
lot of text. Which I think is a better ratio and I would include a layout like this because
there isn't too many pictures and the audience can focus on a main image to easily
understand and know what is included inside the magazine, It will make the audience
want to buy the magazine. Another reason to why it is good having a main character on
the front which is well known is because some audiences could be a fan of this person,
or like the films they feature in which is another reason as to how it makes the
audience want to buy this.

This second magazine film cover the shot type used is a medium shot with two
characters. The first thing I notice is that one character is stood in front and closer to
the camera. This reveals the characters positions and shows that the women is the
main character and holds more power than the male character. The background also
seems to be a different picture to the characters and has been added in together. The
background gives a hint to the audience what kind of film this is (action) trough the fire
and looks like everything is destroyed. The colour scheme focuses on orange, yellow a
lot I think this is because it matches the bottom of the background which connotes fire.
This colours are powerful and match together. The top colour of the background is a
dark blue this also matches the characters dress codes which I think these colours are
used very well with a lot of colour coordinating. Use of the mise en scene of there facial
expression comes across serious and the body language of him holding out the prop
cold show power and determination their body language also looks tense and serious
this can relate towards the characters they play in the film and to what power they
hold. For example, the way her body language has her head turns show she is a focus to
the audience. The layout of the magazine shows little text and has just one main image
with one main cover line and a masthead this also includes a pug in the top right corner
which matches with the colour schemes of oranges which is used to catch the reader's
eye. These are also sans serif fonts in capitals and are very large this could be due to the
fact there isn't much text surrounding so the audience focus on the image. As some
readers prefer to look at images more than reading text, this would be a main reason to
make its audience want to buy this. Both characters are in front of the masthead which
also reveals that they want to attract the audience first before the title which many
people would already recognize as ’entertainment’ magazines are well known.

Film poster
Different conventions are used within this film poster, the angle and shot type is a
medium shot for the characters because their full body isn't showing and are far
away from the camera whilst the other character at the top is a close up shot. This
links In with the mise en scene through the body language shows the princess at the
front is the main focus. As she is stood at the front whilst both two men are behind
her and she is leveled more upwards this suggest she holds a lot of attention.
However the character at the top which is presented as the villain, her facial
expressions reveal anger and evilness which could also link to the fact its a close up
shot and high up image to show her power in the film. The colour schemes involved
are mainly blue this is something I noticed in other Disney film advertisements that
the colour blue is used a lot. This colour presents trust, calm and serenity, which
could link with the children audience. I like the idea of the font which is placed in the
middle in a large font in capitals this automatically grabs the audience's attention
especially with the bubble around it. Also the layout idea which I also like because it
is split into to parts which is shown, this is a good idea to give hints to the audience
on what is involved and that there is a villain included, this will pull the audience in to
want to watch it and find out. On this poster isn't much text at all and this could be
because the less text makes it easier for the audience to just focus on the image
rather than having to want to read it, and especially because it is just a poster.

Billboard
Another way of advertising for films is billboards, this one is another example of a
Disney film and the first thing I noticed was the colour scheme. Again the blue
around the outside of it blends in with the background atmosphere whilst the pop of
colours in the middle stand out, this grabs the audience's attention straight away. As
the colours are all bright I also think the layout is one of my favorites this is because
it includes all the characters around the main character. She is included in the circle
and larger than the rest to stand out with a close up shot, whilst the rest surround
her this also shows her power within the film. The mise en scene of the characters
facial expressions all look happy and cheerful and full of excitement this reveals to
the audience what their character is like and really grabs the audience to want to
watch it especially people who enjoy happy ending films. The dress codes also
reveals what the characters play for example the princess is in a blue dress with a
necklace and tiara, which is normally what most princesses wear and contrast with
the different types of blue for the background blend together to give a good effect.
Therefore this could grab attention to younger girls who are inspired by princesses
and fairytale, magic. This billboard is a huge one which is great for advertising
because its audience of younger aged kids will spot this a lot easier because you
wouldn't miss it and with the saturated colour scheme. This is also quite minimal
with text and this is a better idea for the type of advertisement because if people are
driving past its much quicker to look at a full image rather than taking time to read
the text. The serif font used for the date of the release is placed in the top left corner
which is separated from the rest of the layout, this grabs the audience attention very
quickly and is small but gives of a lot of information towards its audience.

Video Game
The game I have chosen is super Mario and relates to how I want my game in many ways.
There isn’t a lot of characters included, such as just Mario and other animals which are trying
to stop him from getting his reward. The core movements involve the character walking,
jumping and running Mario has rewards by doing theses movements and collecting coins and
punishments such as having to kill enemies and destroy blocks. The enemies can kill Mario
therefore you have a minimum of 3 lives. The main reward to this game is saving princess
peach this relates a lot to how my game will end with a final reward of having the princess.
The menu to the game includes a layout of the princess's castle with the yellow fonts these
colour schemes are all saturated which gives a happy vibe and relates to the audience of
younger children which it would appeal too. The layout of the actual game whilst playing is set
with grass and the sky in the background with trees this reveals this could be a forest and is
leading to the princess's castle, I like this idea because it’s a build up and makes the audience
understand why the character is at these locations.
The audio included is slow and low in the begging this is an opening to the game (menu) and sound effects are used when u press the
different options above, the audio builds up once you press and option to start the game. Each time you earn the coins as a Reward short
sound effects of a ‘ding’ effect is used and other short sounds when he stands on the other animals. The theme tune is quite simple with
the same tune all the way throughout the game which could be a disadvantage because the audio could become very repetitive to its
audience and could get bored of the game. Its also very calm and doesn’t get louder or quitter at any points it stay the same level. The
sound effects really add to the game and make it seem more interesting and exciting to play.

I have learnt within my research through magazines that is definitely a lot more effective when you chose one main image of the
main characters and add little text surrounding the image. This is an aspect I would include within my work because I think it looks
a lot more professional and less over crowded. I also learnt that the audience prefer to look at images to get the idea of the
narrative rather than reading as they can get bored of this easily. I also learnt with the posters that colour scheme is very important
this is because colours give of emotions and hints towards the audience of the type of story this will be and what it includes. This is
something I want to include in my work because it has a huge affect on the poster its self by standing out towards the audience,
but it also reveals the characters roles to the audience using colours. Another thing I learnt is video games have a main theme
throughout and tend to stick to the theme by adding in the backgrounds which match the purpose of the reward. For example the
Mario game includes forest backgrounds and leads to the castle to win his prize. I like this idea and will include this in my own work
because it doesn’t leave the audience confused and doesn’t come across that it doesn’t add up. I also learnt the audio sounds and
sound effects in video games can make a huge difference to how the audience will feel about it. I will include this because it makes
the game a lot more exciting and interesting with effects which brings the game to life, and this is great for a younger audience
which in my work my audience will also be targeted at younger children.

STYLE SHEET
COLOUR SCHEMES:
For my video game I chose colours such as
grey, green and blues these Colours are very
popular in video games especially greens
because most include grass or trees. In which
these colours represent each of my props in
the game for example the castle will be grey,
With another colour added such as blue. This
is because I want my game to include dull
colours and have a main colour which will
make the rest of my game stand out. The
blue will grab my audience's attention and
this colour appeals to both audiences.
In my dress codes colours such as pink and
blues & white will be used because these
also appeal to a younger audience, and
children prefer more saturated bright colours
and this will make them want to play the
game or look at a magazine & advert.
FONT STYLE:
Within my fonts I mainly get all these from Dafont because this includes a range of different styles and I have my favourite
fonts on there which I use a lot. Above have some serif fonts with patterns on the fonts I like this idea because these
remind me of how a princess would have her name and this comes across a lot fancier, I also want to include this font in
my game opening. I also like to mix between two fonts because I believe this will have a good effect to my final layout
plan, I use sans serif these are more bold and larger fonts which I would mainly use for titles because this will grab my
audience's attention especially with a younger audience. They will tend to look for larger fonts which they find easier to
read, on a magazine. BEBAS is the main font which is my favourite this is because I think this font is simple but very
effective and can look well with any type of background.

Magazine and advert layouts
• Below is how I want my advertisement layout which is a billboard, I like my
idea of including a logo on the right-hand side and a basic title with a selling
line this will attract the audience in. I don’t want this advertisement to be too
overcrowded either because when people drive past, they only have a few
seconds to look at the advert and if they find the game name, they will be
able to download this. I want my logo to be quite big therefore children of a
younger audience will like seeing a big image with a bright colour scheme. My
fonts will also be larger fonts which stand out and darker colours which will
relate to my game.
For my magazine front cover, I liked my layout idea because
it includes a green screen background which I will create.
This will be a forest background which will relate towards
my game background and my focus for the game is my
princess I will take a picture at home with a plain
background and be able to use Photoshop to blend this
images together and look realistic.

Video Game layouts
Both of these layout ideas are quite similar and are the main two which are my favourites I chose my game to be based
on the princess with a prince character who has to collect coins or gems to find the princess. At the end of the game will
be the castle with the princess stood at the end, in which this is the prize of the game. I want my background to the game
to be more on the basic side so then I can go into more detail with the characters because I don’t want my game to look
too overcrowded. This is because kids prefer an easier game which they can understand. In my game I also want to have 3
hearts which represent how many lives you have left because this will make my game more challenging therefore my
audience shouldn't get bored. Jumping blocks are a good thing which I can include because these are also a challenge to
collect the coins and gems. Overall, I am more leant to my second layout because I prefer including gems because this will
relate towards my narrative and the necklace.

• Studiobinder.com was the website which I used to create my script. I chose my scrip to be based on the
opening to my game (the menu part) which includes the game levels this is because I think the opening to
the game gives an exact idea to my audience about the purpose of the game which is to save the
princess. I decide to have a narrator who will say the paragraph below and pause with sound effects in
between almost Asif they are telling a story I believe this will grab my audience in, and younger audience
like story telling games.

Contingency What can go wrong? What can you do if it does?
The models needed within the planning might not turn up on the
day.
Either try contact other people last minute to see if they
can replace the models or make sure you have a back up
plan of other models beforehand.
The weather could be bad and raining on the day. Make sure to have other days which you can get it done
on throughout that week and make sure you check the
weather app so you are aware.
Animals for the sound effect might not co operate correctly and not
make the sounds which I wanted.
You could try another day and see if the animal makes the
correct sounds or use another animal if you can.
I might struggle to create the pixels for the video game as I haven’t
had much experience.
Take time to practice a draft for the game so I have more
experience.
Once I have taken the photos for my front cover and other
advertisement they could not be as good quality as I expected or
blurry.
I can use photoshop and my own skills to edit the pictures
or try take more with better lighting.
I could potential loose my work when switching from the
MacBook's to other computers which would be time consuming.
Make sure I have emailed the work to myself or tutor, or
saved this on my USB stick.
Equipment on the day might not work for example the ring
light.
Have an alternative such as using the flash on the
phone or natural light outside.
Risk
Assessment
What could be a risk to you, others or the equipment? How can you make sure that doesn’t happen?
What will you do if it does?
Equipment, for example people tripping over wires in the
classroom.
By making sure all wires are hidden behind the
computer and aren’t at anyone's risk, it does make sure
to move the wires and that they aren’t able to be seen.
If sound effects are needed of animals, and someone gets hurt by
the animal or is scared of it.
Ask them beforehand if they are scared and to keep a
distance in which you can still her the sounds, if this did
happen I would make sure the person is okay and
remove the animal from there sight.
Certain props could injure people if it is used incorrectly or by
accident.
By only using safe props or even fake plastic props, and
if it did happen make sure to change the props used for
much safer ones.
Could have a headache from staring at the screen for too long to it
being too bright.
Make sure you are taking breaks from completing work,
and if it does happen make sure to eat in those breaks
and have water.
another sound effect could be traffic and this could be a risk near
roads and cars.
Make sure to watch out for cars and stand at a far
distance, make sure to be with more than one person if
this did happen.
Within my project I will be using a ring light to take photos for the
magazine cover and other form of advertising, the light can
become hot if left on for long and hurt the models eyes.
Make sure the ring light isn’t to close to the models
faces when taking photos and if it does begin to get to
hot turn the ring light of for at least 30 mins and then
use it again only for a shot period of time.
My model could be allergic to any specific cotton on the
clothes/costume and start reaching or rash.
Check beforehand and ask the model if they are allergic
to any specific washing liquids, and If they are make sure
you have other clothes which they are comfortable in.

Evaluation
Research
• Within my research I was able to to look at 5 overall existing products these included posters, magazine covers and
one existing game. This was a huge strength for me because it helped me expand my ideas for my planning on how
layouts and what is actually needed within the products for example barcodes. Sometimes that is a weakness and I
forget to add in everything so looking over these in detail will help keep an image in my head when I came to creating
the products. Another weakness was actually finding the existing examples this was very time consuming because at
that stage I didn’t fully have an idea of how I wanted my adverts to look and finding ones that relate to may came was
hard because of my younger kids audience this could have an effect. To my products because I wouldn’t have any
ideas on how it should look especially the layout. One of my main struggles with my project was my video game so
being able to look for ideas from other games was a good thing because I spent a lot of time watching YouTube videos
and screenshotting certain parts I could recreate in my own style this was a strength for me. I also focused a lot on
colour schemes in the different existing products and noticed they had two main colours which they used therefore
this helped my product (magazine cover) because I gained this idea to add in two colours which was gold and white.
This instantly gave my cover a more professional look. The bibliography was a weakness for me because I didn’t quite
understand the meaning of this and should have spent more time with this but I had focused most of my time on the
existing products. My last weakness was that most of the existing products which my product related to where layouts
with Disney characters on this effected my product (billboard) because I had added a pixel princess however I needed
portrait pictures and I had gotten confused when planning with existing products. Overall to improve my research I
could have not spent as much time looking into existing products and moved onto the bibliography and read through
more examples and put them into that PowerPoint. Another thing I would have done better was finding existing
products which mostly just relate to my product and ideas so I can link them together and have abetter understanding
because in some parts I was struggling and got confused with how I can create this.
Planning
• Nextly I began my planning and pre-production page by creating a style sheet which included colour schemes, font
style and picture ideas I explored a bright colour scheme because I wanted the products to catch there eye and with
bright colours like blues and greens this is more appealing to a much younger audience which is great for my
products. This helped my product because I then figured out what type of mood the colours create and related this
to my audience for example these colours give of happy and exciting moods. Looking into font styles and picture
ideas was another strength for me because it helped me to go into a lot more detail and expand my ideas and help
me imagine what my products would turn out like. I also realised I prefer to look at pictures than complete mind
maps because pictures help a lot more with my imagination and once I collected ideas I had a strong mind set on
how I would start to create these. Another strength was my magazine, advert and game layout this is because I was
able to set out 3 different plans which I looked back on whenever I began to get confused or stuck so this had really
helped me with my products because I already had 3 picture layouts this also made it a lot easier for me which
meant I had more time to focus on expanding my finished products. A weakness for my planning section was my risk
assessment parts and actors and locations because I struggled to expand my answers and with my locations I was
unsure still on where I would take pictures and due to covid I didn’t know how many actors could be included. To
improve this I could have asked for ideas on how I could expand my answers or looked back on previous work. Risk
assessment would have an effect on my work because I could forget to follow certain rules which could be a hazard
to myself or others whilst creating my products. My last weakness was my script because this was my first time
creating a script and I didn’t really have an idea on how to lay this out or how much needed to be added and this
could have an effect on my product because it could be too short for the game. To improve this I could have also
expanded the script with different ideas and not just one because if I decided to change the script I would only have
one idea to stick to. I did learn for this that its always best to have more than one idea.
Time Management
• Within my time management I was able to space out a lot of my time as we had
been given a good amount of time I was able to complete my project before the
deadline date. This then left me with additional time so I began thinking of ways I
could improve or add to my products, however I didn’t have time to create
another form of advertisement because I had spent a lot of time with my other
parts and didn’t rush because I wanted the best outcomes. I managed my time by
using a notebook this was helpful because I could write down my three forms of
advertisement and then add all the information of how I would produce these. I
started with my game because I knew this would take up the most time this was
because I didn’t have the best experience with the pixel animations. However I
had half my game complete and thought it was best to move onto the magazine
and billboard I managed to space my time out equally for these both and my
outcomes where just how I wanted. This left me to finish of my game and look
back through for any additional improvements which could have been made.
Specific areas I focused on to improve was my game I added more into the demo
level such as other characters I did this because it made the game look a lot more
exciting towards my younger audience and not boring and basic. I also decided to
change up my billboard because I realised I wasn’t as happy with my outcome I
then changed the main picture focus to a portrait of me instead of the pixel
animations because my billboard is focused more towards my film. If I had even
more time I would have produced another form of advertisement because this
would have helped with even more experience for when I move on to my fmp.
Lastly, I would have added a bit more to my game especially the menu screen for
example some moving animations and made the seconds a lot longer.

Technical Qualities
Similarities:
• Both include a main image of the main character (which are
also both princesses) this is shown in the middle of the image
near the front to show the importance of the character.
• There is a cover line on the top left of both magazines in a
circle shape I think this can make a magazine look interesting
and catch my audience's eye.
• I have also spotted smaller things such as the barcode and
text above the main Mastheads this was a good technique
because it makes the magazine look a lot more detailed and
appealing towards my audience.
• I also noticed a main title of the name of the film which I
placed mine near the bottom, these fonts are both larger
than the rest of the cover lines which is a good technique for
my younger audience to be able to read the title and
understand.
Differences:
• The Beauty and The Beast magazine includes another character behind the princess I think this gives a good effect and I
would have included this if I had more time on my magazine and added other characters in my planning.
• In my magazine I added other techniques such as the price of my magazine I placed this small because my audience will
more likely buy the magazine with a small hidden price, whereas the other magazine doesn’t include their price.
• The colour schemes used are also very different this can be due to the type of film it is and with mine I used dark golds
and whites because this match together well and it isn’t all just different colours. However, the other magazine has a mix
of three other colours which can look a bit confusing for their audience.
Technical Qualities:
Similarities:
• Both billboards include a main image again of the
characters in my billboard I chose just my main character.
The layout of these are placed on one side of the
billboard.(image size is large) this is a good technique
because when my audience go past, they can see what
type of characters are included. For example, my younger
audience will recognize a princess which could be what
they have an interest for.
• Also, both include names of people in the films at the top
of the billboard this is also a good technique for people
who are fans of these people or celebrities included.
• Both billboards have a main tagline under the main title I
used the same fonts to match with the jewelry theme to
my film and the pictures.
Differences:
• The colour scheme for both are very different as I included a saturated
purple theme which can link to the colour of the gems (included in my
game) and my younger audience of females as the colour purple associates
with mystery, power and magic.
• The “Ibiza” billboard includes a background image this is something I chose
to not include mainly because I didn’t want my billboard to look to over
crowed and for my audience to not know where to look. Especially with
younger children who prefer simple layouts. However, for next time I can
experiment more and try backgrounds even if I didn’t want to add one.
Technical Qualities:
My game
Similarities:
• In my demo level I added objects which my character must
stand on to reach the gems and stay alive. The other
existing product also includes these which look like blocks
(like mine) this is something which is used in a lot of games
as a simple way of playing a game (which targets my
audience range).
• The same backgrounds are used in the demo level including
trees and grass as well as a castle for the menu screen
surrounded by hills this technique is used so the audience
can understand what type of game this is and the storyline
of the film.
• They also both have icons at the top of the demo level
which show how many lives and coins the player has
collected I think this is something which should be added in
a game.
Differences:
• The image size to the existing product s a lot wider which I would
have preferred to have on my game, but I did use pixil art for this
part and I was only given one exact image size to chose from. This
did impact the number of objects I could fit on the game.
• The menu screen on my game only had to different options to click
however the existing one had a lot choice which could have been a
good technique to add. However, I chose to to make it more
understandable for the younger audience.
Aesthetic Qualities
Aesthetic qualities:
• Overall, I believe the style of my products all matched well together, and they all appealed towards my audience
type which was one of my main achievements. I think my products where aesthetically pleasing because they all
included detail and I chose colour schemes which are light and saturated and gives a happy and cheerful mood of
towards my audience. I think my most aesthetically pleasing product was my magazine cover because my portrait
was clear, and I changed the colour effects and turned my brightness up which made this stand out a lot with my
darker background. This is exactly what I was aiming for therefore this creates two moods of mysterious but also a
glow and professional look towards the main image. I also think my font choice made my products look a lot more
professional because they matched my theme to my game which was based around the gems and necklace (mainly
on my billboard) this was something I wanted to achieve. The quality of my game pixels did turn out clear except
for one part in my cut scene this was the glass grey box which the necklace was kept in I was unsure how this
turned-out look very pixilated and this is something I would improve on if I had more time with the game. Although
my game theme of colours and the pixel objects did match all the way throughout, so it didn’t look like two
different games. However, I did have to switch with pixilart and photoshop for my demo level because of my laptop
and this did change my image size. Within the aesthetic style I think this was very consistent throughout as I
mentioned however when looking at my final products as I did re use the portrait, I feel this appealed more
towards women and with the feminine colour schemes I had chosen, therefore I would improve this by adding in
villain portraits behind the princess and maybe a few de saturated colour schemes.
Aural Qualities
I used beep box for my main sound I think my game works well with the audio because it
is an upbeat sounds, I chose to create this type of sound because I think people can get
easily bored with a slow and boring sound, so I chose to speed my audio up in iMovie
and adjust the sound for a more exciting atmosphere whilst playing the game. However,
one thing I disliked about my sound was that it is repetitive and is the same sound
repeatedly although I did want this in my planning. When It came to listening back my
audience could get drained by the same song replaying so this is something I would
improve with my sounds. Another weakness was my sound was only 30 seconds long
which meant I had to keep adding in the same audio on iMovie this made sound cut off a
bit which you can hear in the game. I would improve this part by making sure I make my
sounds for at least one minute long .My favourite audio parts was my sound effects of
the gems because I managed to add these in a t the perfect time and they where loader
than my originally background sound. Another strength was the sound effects I added in
my cut scene this was the danger audio which I added after my voice over had finished
this matched well with the voice over which was also loud and clear. One thing I would
improv with my voice over would have been to make my cut scene longer because I had
to cut off some of the voice over for it to fit correctly.
Audience Appeal
My products appealed to a younger audience aged 5-9 both aimed at female and male, I did this by including characters
in my game such as a princess and prince I believe these apply more to a younger audience this is because they are more
interested in the mystery and the idea of princesses can be a role model or inspiration to the younger females who can
experience this fantasy. I believe this is also a normal part of their childhood development. However, this also appeals
towards younger males who love the adventure side to a story of the prince being a hero and defeating the villain this
builds up their imagination and grabs their attention. Within my magazine cover I used content such as ‘free giant poster”
this appeals towards the younger audience because children prefer gifts and images than reading a lot of text especially
when its for a much younger audience. Therefore, they can open this magazine and find mini gifts like a poster which
includes drawings and has tasks for them, this makes it more interesting, and they wouldn’t get bored so easily instead of
paragraphs.
I also included a saturated colour scheme this was my main
content which I think really made my products appeal to my
audience this was a because these colours can give off
exciting and happy moods and this can link towards my
audience and kids prefer to look at products which have
high saturation so they can see clear. They also generally
like brighter colours because it makes them feel excited and
they want to get creative with the products.
Another piece of content I included in my
magazine cover was a portrait of myself this
relates towards a princess who would be
around the same age I think this then appeals
towards my audience. This is because a
younger audience prefer to look up to older
princesses and want to be like them this links
to what I said before abut the role models and
they like magical products such as the necklace
that I added with a sparkle effect.
Overall strengths and weaknesses of the final
package.
Overall, my main strengths was the experience I have with using different apps other than just photoshop and I
have managed to still achieve everything in my planning with not having as much equipment due to working from
home and (covid).I also thought that I would have less motivation whilst being at home but when completing my
work, I still had a lot of motivation and organized most of my planning out so I knew exactly when and how I would
create my products. I also took time to experiment with apps and see which worked best for me these where pixil
art and photoshop because pixil art was simple to use and I got the hang of this quickly. I was happy that everything
worked out and I didn’t have to change anything within my planning, so it made it a lot easier for me to began and
create everything. My main weakness was my time management when using pixil art I felt I had to be patient with
this because an easy mistake could lead to me re starting and sometimes, I would forget to save parts of my project
and this would take up my time a lot. Especially with the pixel characters I would lose them and must re create them
the same, this would take at least a few times to get it correct. Although this is something I have experienced and
have now learnt that for next time I can make sure I double check when saving parts to my project.

Equilibrium Disruption Recognition Attempt to repair the damage New Equilibrium Mother and father die and Cinderella is living with her cruel step mother who turns her into a servant for the house with her step sisters Anastasia and Drizella. The king determined that his son should find a suitable bride and provide him with a required number of grandchildren. Therefore the king invites every maiden in the kingdom to a fancy dress ball so his son will be able to chose his bride. Cinderella doesn't stand much of attending the kings royal ball because she has no suitable party dress for a ball. Her friends the mice and birds lend a hand making her one but the evil stepsisters immediately tear apart the dress. Cinderella turns to her fairy godmother who helps her with a new dress and a pumpkin carriage which takes her to the ball however at the stroke of midnight everything will turn back to normal. Cinderella marries the prince with her mice and bird friends watching her getting into the carriage, and riding off to a happily ever after.

Character type How they appear in your story The Hero Cinderella appears like a kind hearted and caring character who is treated with disrespect and a servant to her own family and is determined to get away from her family which becomes a success at the end of this story. The Villian The Step Mother and Two Daughters appear jealous of Cinderella and the mother focuses on her children not including Cinderella they also appear cruel, evil and very stuck up. The Helper Mice and birds also appear helpful because they help with making the dress and getting information to Cinderella. The Donor Fairy god mother is also the one who sends out the help by making her dress and giving her equipment needed to escape her family and get to the ball for example (the carriage turns into a pumpkin carriage.) The Dispatcher Fairy god mother appears to sent of information to the mice and birds to help Cinderella get to the ball. The Princess or prize This could be the prince but also just freedom as she wants to be free from he family and by marrying the prince this allows her freedom. WWWWWH Who -Cinderella –two daughters -Stepmother -mice and birds -Prince What Cinderella decides she wants to go to the ball and changes her appearance until midnight with the help of the mice and her fairy godmother behind her stepmothers back and the prince finds Cinderella's shoe and it matches her size but the step mum throws the shoe causing it to shatter to pieces but Cinderella had the other shoe. She marries the prince and gets into the carriage and lives happily ever after. Why This takes place because Cinderella doesn't like her family after both of her parents died and her other family treat her as a servant therefore she wants to have her freedom and the only way she can do this is go to the ball and be notice by the prince and marry him which means she wont see her family every again or be a servant for them. When This takes place in the 17th century. Where This takes place in France because this fairy tale was French which most scenes are in the castle and a ball. How This is achieved getting help from the fairy godmother and mice to use her magic to make Cinderella look like a princess and have the transport to get to the ball without being caught this is achieved although this only lasts until midnight.

Idea 1 Who -hero -villain -helper -prize What They spend the day in the desert as a group sight seeing this desert is in the middle of no where and whilst there is a volcano due to irrupt which puts everyone in danger and no planes are able to fly over, therefore they become a team to try escape the desert which the prize would be being able to stay alive and get back home. However there is a villain within the group who only cares about saving himself this becomes a challenge. And in the end the hero saves all the other people against the villain by a plane coming to rescue them at the last minute. Why This is because there are no flights which means there is a high risk they will die, whilst having the villain who wants everyone else to die except from him and save only himself this is why the hero tries to leave him behind on the desert. When Modern 2020 Where This is located on a desert How This will happen by the hero defeating the villain because the villain tries to kill most of the other people to fight for himself so by fighting for there life and once they see the plane arriving to come and save them the villain runs just as the plane is about to take off and the hero pushes him out of the plane causing him to be left stranded on the desert.

Idea 2 Who -hero -villain -princess What This begins with a villain who plans to capture the princess from the prince once he finds the princess whilst she is home alone he captures her and takers her to a castle. However the donor (bird) was with the princess at the time.(but nobody knew this) therefore she sends out information to the prince to find the princess. Once he arrives at the castle he has to fight for her and in the end he is the hero who saves the princess. Why The reasoning behind this is because the villain is a lonely person and is jealous of the princes lifestyle as he gets what he wants, the princess also has a special necklace which holds power and the villain wants this to be able to become more powerful over people and take over the world. When Modern 2020 Where This will be located in a castle. How This will happen by the prince defeating the villain with the power of the necklace and using this to kill him.

Idea 3 Who A group of hero's False hero The helper What A group of people are on a quest to find gold which has been buried on an island they get on a boat and arrive but problems occur because there is a false hero who lives on the island and finds the people and pretends to help them out but really he has been o n the island for 12 years trying to find the gold so once they find it with him he steals all the gold but one of the members of the group notice him stealing so they all have to take on the false hero for the gold in he end the group leave with the gold whilst the false hero remains stuck on the island. Why This happens because the the false hero is greedy and wanted all the gold to exchange for money once he finds a way to get of the island whereas the team members want the gold to be able to share. The false hero pretends to be friendly but plans traps and false information so that the team believe and fall into his trap to make them stay on the island and him be free however this fails. How The team members notice the traps which the false hero has set and makes traps to trap him for example; dropping a sheet which catches him to be stuck so that the members make it off the island quick enough with the treasure they find.
  • 10. Mood board: A castle which can be included in the game as a background idea or either at the end of the game, with the princess as the prize waiting to be saved in the castle. My princess will be represented like these images. The necklace is used for the prince to collect diamonds in the game and as many as he can to defeat the villain. And will also be worn on the princess for other forms of my advertising. Animals which are known as the donors. Forests are another location of where my narrative is set.
  • 12. Existing Product magazine film cover The image used in this film magazine is a medium shot as it doesn't show his whole body and isn't too close up. This image is used of a main character in a film and placed in the center of the magazine, to focus the main attention on him and will pull the audience in. This is also shown by the character being placed in front of the masthead to show he is the main character. Another effect which stands out is the background used which looks like it was a picture taken in a tropical island location and a picture of the character and put this together. I think this makes the image stand out a lot more with the contrast of the colours used such as blue mainly in the background and a lot of yellows. Lots of colours are used, sometimes this can miss match, but this works well as there's a selection of 2 colours which are repeated a lot. The fonts used are mostly sans serif and in capitals with the cover lines and masthead which really grabs the attention as almost if the font is shouting out to the audience. The mise en scene of the characters facial expressions come across serious with a straight face and his body language is confident as he is stood with his arms out which shows his confidence. This also reveals the type of character he is in the film by the body language. Secondly, the costume and props also show his character through colour schemes which are quite muted and restrained to focus on background colours. The picture ratio is small because there is only one main image which you can focus on which is surrounded by a lot of text. Which I think is a better ratio and I would include a layout like this because there isn't too many pictures and the audience can focus on a main image to easily understand and know what is included inside the magazine, It will make the audience want to buy the magazine. Another reason to why it is good having a main character on the front which is well known is because some audiences could be a fan of this person, or like the films they feature in which is another reason as to how it makes the audience want to buy this.
  • 13. Existing Product magazine film cover This second magazine film cover the shot type used is a medium shot with two characters. The first thing I notice is that one character is stood in front and closer to the camera. This reveals the characters positions and shows that the women is the main character and holds more power than the male character. The background also seems to be a different picture to the characters and has been added in together. The background gives a hint to the audience what kind of film this is (action) trough the fire and looks like everything is destroyed. The colour scheme focuses on orange, yellow a lot I think this is because it matches the bottom of the background which connotes fire. This colours are powerful and match together. The top colour of the background is a dark blue this also matches the characters dress codes which I think these colours are used very well with a lot of colour coordinating. Use of the mise en scene of there facial expression comes across serious and the body language of him holding out the prop cold show power and determination their body language also looks tense and serious this can relate towards the characters they play in the film and to what power they hold. For example, the way her body language has her head turns show she is a focus to the audience. The layout of the magazine shows little text and has just one main image with one main cover line and a masthead this also includes a pug in the top right corner which matches with the colour schemes of oranges which is used to catch the reader's eye. These are also sans serif fonts in capitals and are very large this could be due to the fact there isn't much text surrounding so the audience focus on the image. As some readers prefer to look at images more than reading text, this would be a main reason to make its audience want to buy this. Both characters are in front of the masthead which also reveals that they want to attract the audience first before the title which many people would already recognize as ’entertainment’ magazines are well known.

Existing Product Film poster Different conventions are used within this film poster, the angle and shot type is a medium shot for the characters because their full body isn't showing and are far away from the camera whilst the other character at the top is a close up shot. This links In with the mise en scene through the body language shows the princess at the front is the main focus. As she is stood at the front whilst both two men are behind her and she is leveled more upwards this suggest she holds a lot of attention. However the character at the top which is presented as the villain, her facial expressions reveal anger and evilness which could also link to the fact its a close up shot and high up image to show her power in the film. The colour schemes involved are mainly blue this is something I noticed in other Disney film advertisements that the colour blue is used a lot. This colour presents trust, calm and serenity, which could link with the children audience. I like the idea of the font which is placed in the middle in a large font in capitals this automatically grabs the audience's attention especially with the bubble around it. Also the layout idea which I also like because it is split into to parts which is shown, this is a good idea to give hints to the audience on what is involved and that there is a villain included, this will pull the audience in to want to watch it and find out. On this poster isn't much text at all and this could be because the less text makes it easier for the audience to just focus on the image rather than having to want to read it, and especially because it is just a poster.
  • 15. Existing Product Billboard Another way of advertising for films is billboards, this one is another example of a Disney film and the first thing I noticed was the colour scheme. Again the blue around the outside of it blends in with the background atmosphere whilst the pop of colours in the middle stand out, this grabs the audience's attention straight away. As the colours are all bright I also think the layout is one of my favorites this is because it includes all the characters around the main character. She is included in the circle and larger than the rest to stand out with a close up shot, whilst the rest surround her this also shows her power within the film. The mise en scene of the characters facial expressions all look happy and cheerful and full of excitement this reveals to the audience what their character is like and really grabs the audience to want to watch it especially people who enjoy happy ending films. The dress codes also reveals what the characters play for example the princess is in a blue dress with a necklace and tiara, which is normally what most princesses wear and contrast with the different types of blue for the background blend together to give a good effect. Therefore this could grab attention to younger girls who are inspired by princesses and fairytale, magic. This billboard is a huge one which is great for advertising because its audience of younger aged kids will spot this a lot easier because you wouldn't miss it and with the saturated colour scheme. This is also quite minimal with text and this is a better idea for the type of advertisement because if people are driving past its much quicker to look at a full image rather than taking time to read the text. The serif font used for the date of the release is placed in the top left corner which is separated from the rest of the layout, this grabs the audience attention very quickly and is small but gives of a lot of information towards its audience.
  • 16. Existing Product Video Game The game I have chosen is super Mario and relates to how I want my game in many ways. There isn’t a lot of characters included, such as just Mario and other animals which are trying to stop him from getting his reward. The core movements involve the character walking, jumping and running Mario has rewards by doing theses movements and collecting coins and punishments such as having to kill enemies and destroy blocks. The enemies can kill Mario therefore you have a minimum of 3 lives. The main reward to this game is saving princess peach this relates a lot to how my game will end with a final reward of having the princess. The menu to the game includes a layout of the princess's castle with the yellow fonts these colour schemes are all saturated which gives a happy vibe and relates to the audience of younger children which it would appeal too. The layout of the actual game whilst playing is set with grass and the sky in the background with trees this reveals this could be a forest and is leading to the princess's castle, I like this idea because it’s a build up and makes the audience understand why the character is at these locations. The audio included is slow and low in the begging this is an opening to the game (menu) and sound effects are used when u press the different options above, the audio builds up once you press and option to start the game. Each time you earn the coins as a Reward short sound effects of a ‘ding’ effect is used and other short sounds when he stands on the other animals. The theme tune is quite simple with the same tune all the way throughout the game which could be a disadvantage because the audio could become very repetitive to its audience and could get bored of the game. Its also very calm and doesn’t get louder or quitter at any points it stay the same level. The sound effects really add to the game and make it seem more interesting and exciting to play.
  • 17. Research Summary • What have you learned from your research? • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? I have learnt within my research through magazines that is definitely a lot more effective when you chose one main image of the main characters and add little text surrounding the image. This is an aspect I would include within my work because I think it looks a lot more professional and less over crowded. I also learnt that the audience prefer to look at images to get the idea of the narrative rather than reading as they can get bored of this easily. I also learnt with the posters that colour scheme is very important this is because colours give of emotions and hints towards the audience of the type of story this will be and what it includes. This is something I want to include in my work because it has a huge affect on the poster its self by standing out towards the audience, but it also reveals the characters roles to the audience using colours. Another thing I learnt is video games have a main theme throughout and tend to stick to the theme by adding in the backgrounds which match the purpose of the reward. For example the Mario game includes forest backgrounds and leads to the castle to win his prize. I like this idea and will include this in my own work because it doesn’t leave the audience confused and doesn’t come across that it doesn’t add up. I also learnt the audio sounds and sound effects in video games can make a huge difference to how the audience will feel about it. I will include this because it makes the game a lot more exciting and interesting with effects which brings the game to life, and this is great for a younger audience which in my work my audience will also be targeted at younger children.

STYLE SHEET COLOUR SCHEMES: For my video game I chose colours such as grey, green and blues these Colours are very popular in video games especially greens because most include grass or trees. In which these colours represent each of my props in the game for example the castle will be grey, With another colour added such as blue. This is because I want my game to include dull colours and have a main colour which will make the rest of my game stand out. The blue will grab my audience's attention and this colour appeals to both audiences. In my dress codes colours such as pink and blues & white will be used because these also appeal to a younger audience, and children prefer more saturated bright colours and this will make them want to play the game or look at a magazine & advert.
  • 21. FONT STYLE: Within my fonts I mainly get all these from Dafont because this includes a range of different styles and I have my favourite fonts on there which I use a lot. Above have some serif fonts with patterns on the fonts I like this idea because these remind me of how a princess would have her name and this comes across a lot fancier, I also want to include this font in my game opening. I also like to mix between two fonts because I believe this will have a good effect to my final layout plan, I use sans serif these are more bold and larger fonts which I would mainly use for titles because this will grab my audience's attention especially with a younger audience. They will tend to look for larger fonts which they find easier to read, on a magazine. PICTURE IDEAS: GAME: I want my game to be similar to these image styles including the background location of fields with water and a castle this will give off a huge hint to the audience of why the game is located in this type of location, I also believe these fairytale locations are what a younger audience would enjoy. My other form of advertisement will be a billboard, in this I am wanting to produce a logo in pixels of my game with a title beside this and a colour background, some examples which link to my layout. For my magazine front cover I have examples below to how my layout will be presented. I want to focus on one specific character, this will be the main focus and then with a green screened background. I like the idea of this because I can add text around, and it will look spaced out and not too overcrowded with too many pictures. Large main font to stand out, and matched colour schemes. Magazine and advert layouts • Below is how I want my advertisement layout which is a billboard, I like my idea of including a logo on the right-hand side and a basic title with a selling line this will attract the audience in. I don’t want this advertisement to be too overcrowded either because when people drive past, they only have a few seconds to look at the advert and if they find the game name, they will be able to download this. I want my logo to be quite big therefore children of a younger audience will like seeing a big image with a bright colour scheme. My fonts will also be larger fonts which stand out and darker colours which will relate to my game. For my magazine front cover, I liked my layout idea because it includes a green screen background which I will create. This will be a forest background which will relate towards my game background and my focus for the game is my princess I will take a picture at home with a plain background and be able to use Photoshop to blend this images together and look realistic. In my layout plan I also included my masthead which will be in a large font and behind the character to show her importance. My other text will be surrounded around my character with text about the film and have a date and barcode. Which will be easy information for my audience.

Video Game layouts Both of these layout ideas are quite similar and are the main two which are my favourites I chose my game to be based on the princess with a prince character who has to collect coins or gems to find the princess. At the end of the game will be the castle with the princess stood at the end, in which this is the prize of the game. I want my background to the game to be more on the basic side so then I can go into more detail with the characters because I don’t want my game to look too overcrowded. This is because kids prefer an easier game which they can understand. In my game I also want to have 3 hearts which represent how many lives you have left because this will make my game more challenging therefore my audience shouldn't get bored. Jumping blocks are a good thing which I can include because these are also a challenge to collect the coins and gems. Overall, I am more leant to my second layout because I prefer including gems because this will relate towards my narrative and the necklace. Necklace with the princess as the prize.

I chose my scrip to be based on the opening to my game (the menu part) which includes the game levels this is because I think the opening to the game gives an exact idea to my audience about the purpose of the game which is to save the princess. I decide to have a narrator who will say the paragraph below and pause with sound effects in between almost Asif they are telling a story I believe this will grab my audience in, and younger audience like story telling games.

  • 29. Contingency What can go wrong? What can you do if it does? The models needed within the planning might not turn up on the day. Either try contact other people last minute to see if they can replace the models or make sure you have a back up plan of other models beforehand. The weather could be bad and raining on the day. Make sure to have other days which you can get it done on throughout that week and make sure you check the weather app so you are aware. Animals for the sound effect might not co operate correctly and not make the sounds which I wanted. You could try another day and see if the animal makes the correct sounds or use another animal if you can. I might struggle to create the pixels for the video game as I haven’t had much experience. Take time to practice a draft for the game so I have more experience. Once I have taken the photos for my front cover and other advertisement they could not be as good quality as I expected or blurry. I can use photoshop and my own skills to edit the pictures or try take more with better lighting. I could potential loose my work when switching from the MacBook's to other computers which would be time consuming. Make sure I have emailed the work to myself or tutor, or saved this on my USB stick. Equipment on the day might not work for example the ring light. Have an alternative such as using the flash on the phone or natural light outside.
  • 30. Risk Assessment What could be a risk to you, others or the equipment? How can you make sure that doesn’t happen? What will you do if it does? Equipment, for example people tripping over wires in the classroom. By making sure all wires are hidden behind the computer and aren’t at anyone's risk, it does make sure to move the wires and that they aren’t able to be seen. If sound effects are needed of animals, and someone gets hurt by the animal or is scared of it. Ask them beforehand if they are scared and to keep a distance in which you can still her the sounds, if this did happen I would make sure the person is okay and remove the animal from there sight. Certain props could injure people if it is used incorrectly or by accident. By only using safe props or even fake plastic props, and if it did happen make sure to change the props used for much safer ones. Could have a headache from staring at the screen for too long to it being too bright. Make sure you are taking breaks from completing work, and if it does happen make sure to eat in those breaks and have water. another sound effect could be traffic and this could be a risk near roads and cars. Make sure to watch out for cars and stand at a far distance, make sure to be with more than one person if this did happen. Within my project I will be using a ring light to take photos for the magazine cover and other form of advertising, the light can become hot if left on for long and hurt the models eyes. Make sure the ring light isn’t to close to the models faces when taking photos and if it does begin to get to hot turn the ring light of for at least 30 mins and then use it again only for a shot period of time. My model could be allergic to any specific cotton on the clothes/costume and start reaching or rash. Check beforehand and ask the model if they are allergic to any specific washing liquids, and If they are make sure you have other clothes which they are comfortable in.

  • 34. Research • Within my research I was able to to look at 5 overall existing products these included posters, magazine covers and one existing game. This was a huge strength for me because it helped me expand my ideas for my planning on how layouts and what is actually needed within the products for example barcodes. Sometimes that is a weakness and I forget to add in everything so looking over these in detail will help keep an image in my head when I came to creating the products. Another weakness was actually finding the existing examples this was very time consuming because at that stage I didn’t fully have an idea of how I wanted my adverts to look and finding ones that relate to may came was hard because of my younger kids audience this could have an effect. To my products because I wouldn’t have any ideas on how it should look especially the layout. One of my main struggles with my project was my video game so being able to look for ideas from other games was a good thing because I spent a lot of time watching YouTube videos and screenshotting certain parts I could recreate in my own style this was a strength for me. I also focused a lot on colour schemes in the different existing products and noticed they had two main colours which they used therefore this helped my product (magazine cover) because I gained this idea to add in two colours which was gold and white. This instantly gave my cover a more professional look. The bibliography was a weakness for me because I didn’t quite understand the meaning of this and should have spent more time with this but I had focused most of my time on the existing products. My last weakness was that most of the existing products which my product related to where layouts with Disney characters on this effected my product (billboard) because I had added a pixel princess however I needed portrait pictures and I had gotten confused when planning with existing products. Overall to improve my research I could have not spent as much time looking into existing products and moved onto the bibliography and read through more examples and put them into that PowerPoint. Another thing I would have done better was finding existing products which mostly just relate to my product and ideas so I can link them together and have abetter understanding because in some parts I was struggling and got confused with how I can create this.
  • 35. Planning • Nextly I began my planning and pre-production page by creating a style sheet which included colour schemes, font style and picture ideas I explored a bright colour scheme because I wanted the products to catch there eye and with bright colours like blues and greens this is more appealing to a much younger audience which is great for my products. This helped my product because I then figured out what type of mood the colours create and related this to my audience for example these colours give of happy and exciting moods. Looking into font styles and picture ideas was another strength for me because it helped me to go into a lot more detail and expand my ideas and help me imagine what my products would turn out like. I also realised I prefer to look at pictures than complete mind maps because pictures help a lot more with my imagination and once I collected ideas I had a strong mind set on how I would start to create these. Another strength was my magazine, advert and game layout this is because I was able to set out 3 different plans which I looked back on whenever I began to get confused or stuck so this had really helped me with my products because I already had 3 picture layouts this also made it a lot easier for me which meant I had more time to focus on expanding my finished products. A weakness for my planning section was my risk assessment parts and actors and locations because I struggled to expand my answers and with my locations I was unsure still on where I would take pictures and due to covid I didn’t know how many actors could be included. To improve this I could have asked for ideas on how I could expand my answers or looked back on previous work. Risk assessment would have an effect on my work because I could forget to follow certain rules which could be a hazard to myself or others whilst creating my products. My last weakness was my script because this was my first time creating a script and I didn’t really have an idea on how to lay this out or how much needed to be added and this could have an effect on my product because it could be too short for the game. To improve this I could have also expanded the script with different ideas and not just one because if I decided to change the script I would only have one idea to stick to. I did learn for this that its always best to have more than one idea.
  • 36. Time Management • Within my time management I was able to space out a lot of my time as we had been given a good amount of time I was able to complete my project before the deadline date. This then left me with additional time so I began thinking of ways I could improve or add to my products, however I didn’t have time to create another form of advertisement because I had spent a lot of time with my other parts and didn’t rush because I wanted the best outcomes. I managed my time by using a notebook this was helpful because I could write down my three forms of advertisement and then add all the information of how I would produce these. I started with my game because I knew this would take up the most time this was because I didn’t have the best experience with the pixel animations. However I had half my game complete and thought it was best to move onto the magazine and billboard I managed to space my time out equally for these both and my outcomes where just how I wanted. This left me to finish of my game and look back through for any additional improvements which could have been made. Specific areas I focused on to improve was my game I added more into the demo level such as other characters I did this because it made the game look a lot more exciting towards my younger audience and not boring and basic. I also decided to change up my billboard because I realised I wasn’t as happy with my outcome I then changed the main picture focus to a portrait of me instead of the pixel animations because my billboard is focused more towards my film. If I had even more time I would have produced another form of advertisement because this would have helped with even more experience for when I move on to my fmp. Lastly, I would have added a bit more to my game especially the menu screen for example some moving animations and made the seconds a lot longer. Technical Qualities Similarities: • Both include a main image of the main character (which are also both princesses) this is shown in the middle of the image near the front to show the importance of the character. • There is a cover line on the top left of both magazines in a circle shape I think this can make a magazine look interesting and catch my audience's eye. • I have also spotted smaller things such as the barcode and text above the main Mastheads this was a good technique because it makes the magazine look a lot more detailed and appealing towards my audience. • I also noticed a main title of the name of the film which I placed mine near the bottom, these fonts are both larger than the rest of the cover lines which is a good technique for my younger audience to be able to read the title and understand. Differences: • The Beauty and The Beast magazine includes another character behind the princess I think this gives a good effect and I would have included this if I had more time on my magazine and added other characters in my planning. • In my magazine I added other techniques such as the price of my magazine I placed this small because my audience will more likely buy the magazine with a small hidden price, whereas the other magazine doesn’t include their price. • The colour schemes used are also very different this can be due to the type of film it is and with mine I used dark golds and whites because this match together well and it isn’t all just different colours. However, the other magazine has a mix of three other colours which can look a bit confusing for their audience.
  • 38. Technical Qualities: Similarities: • Both billboards include a main image again of the characters in my billboard I chose just my main character. The layout of these are placed on one side of the billboard.(image size is large) this is a good technique because when my audience go past, they can see what type of characters are included. For example, my younger audience will recognize a princess which could be what they have an interest for. • Also, both include names of people in the films at the top of the billboard this is also a good technique for people who are fans of these people or celebrities included. • Both billboards have a main tagline under the main title I used the same fonts to match with the jewelry theme to my film and the pictures. Differences: • The colour scheme for both are very different as I included a saturated purple theme which can link to the colour of the gems (included in my game) and my younger audience of females as the colour purple associates with mystery, power and magic. • The “Ibiza” billboard includes a background image this is something I chose to not include mainly because I didn’t want my billboard to look to over crowed and for my audience to not know where to look. Especially with younger children who prefer simple layouts. However, for next time I can experiment more and try backgrounds even if I didn’t want to add one.
  • 39. Technical Qualities: My game Similarities: • In my demo level I added objects which my character must stand on to reach the gems and stay alive. The other existing product also includes these which look like blocks (like mine) this is something which is used in a lot of games as a simple way of playing a game (which targets my audience range). • The same backgrounds are used in the demo level including trees and grass as well as a castle for the menu screen surrounded by hills this technique is used so the audience can understand what type of game this is and the storyline of the film. • They also both have icons at the top of the demo level which show how many lives and coins the player has collected I think this is something which should be added in a game. Differences: • The image size to the existing product s a lot wider which I would have preferred to have on my game, but I did use pixil art for this part and I was only given one exact image size to chose from. This did impact the number of objects I could fit on the game. • The menu screen on my game only had to different options to click however the existing one had a lot choice which could have been a good technique to add. However, I chose to to make it more understandable for the younger audience.
  • 41. Aesthetic qualities: • Overall, I believe the style of my products all matched well together, and they all appealed towards my audience type which was one of my main achievements. I think my products where aesthetically pleasing because they all included detail and I chose colour schemes which are light and saturated and gives a happy and cheerful mood of towards my audience. I think my most aesthetically pleasing product was my magazine cover because my portrait was clear, and I changed the colour effects and turned my brightness up which made this stand out a lot with my darker background. This is exactly what I was aiming for therefore this creates two moods of mysterious but also a glow and professional look towards the main image. I also think my font choice made my products look a lot more professional because they matched my theme to my game which was based around the gems and necklace (mainly on my billboard) this was something I wanted to achieve. The quality of my game pixels did turn out clear except for one part in my cut scene this was the glass grey box which the necklace was kept in I was unsure how this turned-out look very pixilated and this is something I would improve on if I had more time with the game. Although my game theme of colours and the pixel objects did match all the way throughout, so it didn’t look like two different games. However, I did have to switch with pixilart and photoshop for my demo level because of my laptop and this did change my image size. Within the aesthetic style I think this was very consistent throughout as I mentioned however when looking at my final products as I did re use the portrait, I feel this appealed more towards women and with the feminine colour schemes I had chosen, therefore I would improve this by adding in villain portraits behind the princess and maybe a few de saturated colour schemes.

Aural Qualities I used beep box for my main sound I think my game works well with the audio because it is an upbeat sounds, I chose to create this type of sound because I think people can get easily bored with a slow and boring sound, so I chose to speed my audio up in iMovie and adjust the sound for a more exciting atmosphere whilst playing the game. However, one thing I disliked about my sound was that it is repetitive and is the same sound repeatedly although I did want this in my planning. When It came to listening back my audience could get drained by the same song replaying so this is something I would improve with my sounds. Another weakness was my sound was only 30 seconds long which meant I had to keep adding in the same audio on iMovie this made sound cut off a bit which you can hear in the game. I would improve this part by making sure I make my sounds for at least one minute long .My favourite audio parts was my sound effects of the gems because I managed to add these in a t the perfect time and they where loader than my originally background sound. Another strength was the sound effects I added in my cut scene this was the danger audio which I added after my voice over had finished this matched well with the voice over which was also loud and clear. One thing I would improv with my voice over would have been to make my cut scene longer because I had to cut off some of the voice over for it to fit correctly.

Audience Appeal My products appealed to a younger audience aged 5-9 both aimed at female and male, I did this by including characters in my game such as a princess and prince I believe these apply more to a younger audience this is because they are more interested in the mystery and the idea of princesses can be a role model or inspiration to the younger females who can experience this fantasy. I believe this is also a normal part of their childhood development. However, this also appeals towards younger males who love the adventure side to a story of the prince being a hero and defeating the villain this builds up their imagination and grabs their attention. Within my magazine cover I used content such as ‘free giant poster” this appeals towards the younger audience because children prefer gifts and images than reading a lot of text especially when its for a much younger audience. Therefore, they can open this magazine and find mini gifts like a poster which includes drawings and has tasks for them, this makes it more interesting, and they wouldn’t get bored so easily instead of paragraphs. I also included a saturated colour scheme this was my main content which I think really made my products appeal to my audience this was a because these colours can give off exciting and happy moods and this can link towards my audience and kids prefer to look at products which have high saturation so they can see clear. They also generally like brighter colours because it makes them feel excited and they want to get creative with the products. Another piece of content I included in my magazine cover was a portrait of myself this relates towards a princess who would be around the same age I think this then appeals towards my audience. This is because a younger audience prefer to look up to older princesses and want to be like them this links to what I said before abut the role models and they like magical products such as the necklace that I added with a sparkle effect.
  • 44. Overall strengths and weaknesses of the final package. Overall, my main strengths was the experience I have with using different apps other than just photoshop and I have managed to still achieve everything in my planning with not having as much equipment due to working from home and (covid).I also thought that I would have less motivation whilst being at home but when completing my work, I still had a lot of motivation and organized most of my planning out so I knew exactly when and how I would create my products. I also took time to experiment with apps and see which worked best for me these where pixil art and photoshop because pixil art was simple to use and I got the hang of this quickly. I was happy that everything worked out and I didn’t have to change anything within my planning, so it made it a lot easier for me to began and create everything. My main weakness was my time management when using pixil art I felt I had to be patient with this because an easy mistake could lead to me re starting and sometimes, I would forget to save parts of my project and this would take up my time a lot. Especially with the pixel characters I would lose them and must re create them the same, this would take at least a few times to get it correct. Although this is something I have experienced and have now learnt that for next time I can make sure I double check when saving parts to my project.
