Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I liked how the shapes of the image were very simple
and that those simple shapes combined to create an
image with a surprising amount of detail taking into
account what its made of.
What would you improve if you did it again?
Create more shapes for shading, definition and the
overall shape of the subject.
Rotoscope
Rotoscope
Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I like how the shades create a very minimalist
theme to the image while keeping the main
features noticeable and discernible.
What would you improve if you did it again?
Add more selections and shading to the
background and the face of the subject. Make
the nose, ears and painting more defined with
more shading and details.

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I like the fact that despite the low number of
shapes and details in the image the subject is
recognisable and shows of the features of said
subject.
What would you improve if you did it again?
I would make some more details and definition
on the face by messing with the colours and
brightness of the subjects shapes.

Text Based
Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I like the effect that the overlay has on the text
as well as the different effects that we can add
to text without transforming the text.
What would you improve if you did it again?
Add more text with different effects on them
like different overlays or more heavily edited
texts.

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
With the cut out filter putting a very simplistic
colour into the image and the Black and white layer
putting the shadows the image has a very simplistic
look.
What would you improve if you did it again?
Play around with the cut-out layers options until I
found the setting that best fits the image with the
right number of colour layers and edge sharpness.
Photo Story
Photo Story
Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
The fact that it is quite easy to read what is
happening in the image and to piece the story
together from those images.
What would you improve if you did it again?
Take clearer images so the they are easier to see
like with the lock image being too dark and the
final image being slightly blurry.
Illustration
Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
The colour of the birds body is close to the
shade that was on the reference so its close to a
real bird.
What would you improve if you did it again?
Change the shape of the outline of the bird to
make it look a lot smooth and flow a lot better.
Put more detail into the bricks from the
windowsill and the scene through the window.
Narrative Environment
Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I like how the image uses simplistic shapes to
create a larger image with textures overlaid onto
the layers.
What would you improve if you did it again?
I would make the layers a bit more detailed like
putting in each step individually or putting in all
the window selves and rims on the building.

Proposal
Dimensions
A4 Pages, 10-12 pages.
Story Overview
A straw millionaire with a Scifi setting. Instead of humans it would be robots in a world
that is over grown with vegetation and nature. Instead of the normal straw to
millionaire it would be a series of robots trading parts for things they need for example
screws for metal sheets. The underlying theme would stay the same whilst its themes
and details change significantly.
Export Format
JPEG
Advantages: Its an image format that has high definition and a reasonable file size.
Disadvantages: Cannot easily edit once exported so any changes must be done before
exporting.
Deadline
09/06/17
Audience
the age is about 4-7, gender is boys, class isn't relevant and location isn't relevant
either as the story doesn't have connections to a pre-existing location. These are
because the story is about robots and that is a much more boyish topic than girlish.
The age is 4-7 as that was in the brief and is the age that we were told to tailor
towards.
Production Methods
I will most likely use a combination of shape manipulation and rotoscoping. This is
because the shapes will give a better control when creating a character but
rotoscoping will make the backgrounds a lot easier to manipulate and control.
Rotoscoping may be used with the construction of characters as they might need
harsh edges or straight edges. I may use a lot of overlaying and texture mapping to
make the images look a lot more detailed and full.

Original Script
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_Millionaire
A hard-working but unlucky peasant named Daietsu-no-suke prays to Kannon, the
goddess of mercy, to help him escape poverty. Kannon tells him to take the first thing he
touches on the ground with him and travel west. He stumbles on his way out of the
temple and grabs a piece of straw. While traveling, he catches a horsefly that was
bothering him and ties it to the straw. In the next town, the buzzing horsefly calms a
crying baby and the thankful mother exchanges it for three oranges. Taking the oranges,
he continues on his journey and encounters a dehydrated woman. He gives her the
oranges and she thanks him by giving him a rich Silk cloth. The peasant meets
a samurai with a weak horse. The samurai demands the silk cloth in exchange for his
horse. The peasant nurses the horse back to health and continues west. A millionaire is
impressed by his horse and invites him to his home. The millionaire's daughter turns out
to be the same woman he saved with his oranges. Seeing this as a sign, the millionaire
insists that the peasant marry his daughter, making him a millionaire.

Draft Script (Dialogue)
Page 1: Chris was a small cleaning robot in charge of cleaning a small laboratory on the edge
of a city. This place was old and falling apart after his owners left but Chris kept cleaning. One
day however his schedule was drawn to a halt when an alarm sounded. Chris turned to read
his monitors to find he was low on charge.
Page 2: in a panicked state Chris rushed to a closet in hopes of finding a battery. But to no
avail. Chris packs all his things into a cart in hopes of being able to find a battery with his
various gadgets and parts.
Page 3: remembering his owners words Chris realized that the best way to get what he needs
is to travel to the city with something to trade with. Opening the door to the outside world
Chris begins to travel to find a battery so that he can remain functional
Page 4: after some time Chris comes across a broken robot. Sparking and damaged Chris drew
closer to see that his various tools and scrap may be able to fix him.
Page 5: after fixing the damaged robot he thanks Chris and gives Chris one of the gears from
his collection in the building behind them.
Page 6: as Chris begins to leave the warning goes off once again. Reading the situation the
fixed robot points Chris towards a large tower in the center of the city. “go there” he said “you
will be helped there”
Page 7: with now time to spare Chris heads towards the tower only to be stopped by two
large doors in front of the tower. Chris examines the door before find a small gear shaped hole
Page 8: pushing the gear into the slot a large churning can be heard as the gears turn and the
doors slowly scrape open.
Page 9: going into the tower Chris looks up to see a towering giant robot in front of him
staring at it he sees various dents and missing pieces on the large robot.
Draft Script (Dialogue)
Page 10: using the scraps that he began with and those handed to him along his journey he
began to fix the giant in front of him.
Page 11: Over time Chris kept fixing while trying to ignore the beeping from his alarm. With
the last piece in place the giant began to move and stand but at the same time Chris began to
run out of charge and shut down.
Page 12: the giant looks down to see Chris, limp and out of charge, and picks him up. Lifting
the panel off his chest, the giant pulls out a small battery and inserts it into the back of Chris’
head.
Page 13: Chris wakes to the giants question “why would you sacrifice yourself for someone
you don’t know?” to what Chris replies “sometimes the best way to fix your own problems is
to help someone else fix theirs.”

  • 32. Deadline 09/06/17 Audience the age is about 4-7, gender is boys, class isn't relevant and location isn't relevant either as the story doesn't have connections to a pre-existing location. These are because the story is about robots and that is a much more boyish topic than girlish. The age is 4-7 as that was in the brief and is the age that we were told to tailor towards. Production Methods I will most likely use a combination of shape manipulation and rotoscoping. This is because the shapes will give a better control when creating a character but rotoscoping will make the backgrounds a lot easier to manipulate and control. Rotoscoping may be used with the construction of characters as they might need harsh edges or straight edges. I may use a lot of overlaying and texture mapping to make the images look a lot more detailed and full.
