Research Paper On Mengele
Introduction [attention getter] Mengele once said, "The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it." [topic justification]
Mengele is very important to the Holocaust because he shows that Nazis didn't care. They didn't care if the Jews suffered and died, they just knew
Hitler was their leader and wanted to keep their family safe. [credibility] Research shows that Mengele did many experiments on camp prisoners.
[orientation] WWII started September 1st 1939 and lasted until September 2nd 1945. The holocaust started January 30th 1933 and ended May 8th
1945. This all started because Hitler didn't like the jews and ordered his people to take out all Jews. [preview of main ideas/thesis] Josef Mengele was
an SS doctor, one of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third main idea i. [topic sentence] Mengele did many experiments to many different people like attaching twins' eyeballs to each other's heads,
attaching and detaching limbs, and so on.ii. [support for III] He enjoyed having his assistants round up 14 gypsy twins one night, then injecting
chloroform into the hearts and killing them, which then he dissected every inch of their bodies. iii. [analysis of support] Twins and children which
were later to be experimented on had no idea that was going to happen to them. iv. [support for III] One experiment he tried was injecting chemicals
into the subject's eyes to try and change them colors. v. [analysis of support] Just like Mengele his assistant, Dr. Herta Oberhauser, was inhumane. She
rubbed grounded glass into open wounds, killed with oil and evipan injections, and removed vital organs. vi. [transition statement] Most say they
remember Josef as the man that would give them chocolates and treat them like family, some even called him "Uncle Josef". III.Conclusion [summary]
No matter the Nazi they thought they were doing what was right, what their country needed. Mengele helped us learn a lot of things about twins and
others, not in the best way, but we are now more educated about the human body and twins. Still, no matter the Nazi they were all

Genetic and Reproductive Sciences Abstract This paper is based on genetic and reproductive science and their benefits and limitations regarding
individuals, families, and society. The paper covers the screening and treatment for diabetes and what methods are used to prevent it development. The
paper also contains information regarding In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and its benefits for individuals and families. The use stems cells and its
advantages and disadvantages are also mentioned. Analyze the benefits and limitations of genetic and reproductive sciences for individuals, families,

The limitations of genetic science for families are the misinterpretation of the results and information regarding testing. Most people do not understand
the results which can result in the assumption that either their test came back negative when it did not, or that is came back positive when it did not.
Another limitation to genetic testing is the psychosocial affect the results can have on families, which can cause high levels of anxiety and deteriorate
relationships and families (Sparbel & Tluczek, 2011). The benefits of genetic science for society is for employers who want to know if their
employers are in excellent working condition and if the worker will cause them more money when obtaining health insurance. If an employer hires
someone that that is healthy then the cost of health insurance does not rise and the employee will not have to downgrade their health insurance plan so
that they can accommodate the employee that is not healthy. The limitations of genetic science for society are the possibility of genetic testing causing
safety issues at work, the development of a genetic low class, the breach of privilege and confidentiality, and the utilization of genetic bias to excuse
different methods of discrimination (Krumm, 2002). The benefits of reproductive science for individuals, such as single women and lesbian couples,
are that it increases the chances of them becoming parents and with the use of a sperm donor in

Social Media And Its Effect On Society Essay
Journal #2: Through Einstein and Freud's exchanges in Why War, it was stated by Sigmund Freud that war is the result to resolve conflict through
the means of violence (Freud, p. 549). He claims that there is no permanent fix to war; rather there is a temporary fix through the creation of a
community bonded by a shared identity and emotional ties (Freud, 550). Our society has changed drastically in several different aspects since this
paper was originally written in 1932, but the largest way that we have grown can be credited towards technology. Through the use of technology, the
ideas of Sigmund Freud on the prevention of war have been greatly strengthened. This strength comes specifically in the aspects of community
bonding, giving the "ruled" a voice in a hierarchical world, and creating a transparency of the hidden crimes committed by "ruling" class. Social
media has been used as platforms for contact, socialization, and cooperation on a global scale. It has armed those who previously would have
struggled with being heard with the ability to have a voice. Platforms such as Twitter and Facebook have allowed the production of discussion by
allowing people to feel more free to express their opinions and thus, broadening public discourse and veering away from the dominance of the
hegemonic views of the group that Freud phrased as the "rulers" (551). A perfect example of how minorities are more able to have a voice than ever
through the use of social media can be

Josef Mengele Research Paper
Dr Josef Mengele was a German (SS) solider and a Nazi doctor at Auschwitz death camp during WWII. Dr Mengele was known as the 'Angel of Death'
of 'White Angel' because of his cruel gruesome experiments he performed on prisoners. Dr Josef Mengele, with his role of Nazi doctor at a famous
death camp, was cruel and cold–hearted because of his gruesome experiments on prisioners. Mengele was the eldest of three children and was born
March 11, 1911 in Gunzburg, Germany.
Dr Mengele performed medical experiments on men, women and children prisoners of Auschwitz Death Camp. Mengele was given complete freedom
under secrecy enabling him to give lethal injections, dissect, shot, freeze and even castarate his prisoner test subjects. These lethal injections, made
from germs were used in attempt to artificially change the subject's eye colour. The test subjects also known as the prisoners, either died from the
experiment or from being shoot, very few survived. However, post mortem examinations were conducted whether they did from the experiment or ...

The man Mengele was working with, Dr Omar Von Verschuer, was also widely known for having a fascination with twins, more specifically
identical twins. Mengele performed a range of experiments on as many as 1500 sets of twins. Some of these experiments were chemically changing
eye colour, conjoining twins and even seeing how long they could last with breathing in poisonous gas daily. He also attempted to work with genetics
as he believed that genetics can help improve our futures. Dr Mengele a well–educated, experienced, research doctor at Auschwitz death camp believed
that; if Aryan women could assuredly give birth to twins who were sure to be blond and blue eyed – then the future could essentially be saved.
Mengele was a cruel man but there were still a few survivors from his gruesome

Eva Mozes Kor
Not all Jewish survivors had an opportunity to go into hiding during the holocaust, and some of the survivors faced deadly concentration camps from
the beginning to the end. The survivors from camps lost everything immediately and hope quickly became a foreign aspect to those in the death camps
compared to the Jews holding out in hiding. Eva Mozes Kor and her twin sister Miriam, experienced the horrors of Auschwitz and Dr.Josef Mengele at
the young age of ten years old. The young girls had to adapt quickly in a chaotic world where they had no family, no food or water, and only having the
realization of remaining in a harsh, stinging reality of Auschwitz and becoming human experiments (Scheinerman). Around fifteen hundred twins
suffered from experiments similar to those Eva and Miriam encountered, and most of those children died from the inhumane experiments
(candlesholocaustmuseum.org). Eva's strength and determination worked as an anchor for her and Miriam, pulling both of them through the struggles
each twin faced throughout their time at the camp. Eva Kor Mozes, born on January 31, 1934, grew up in the village of Portz in Transylvania,
Romania with her parents, two older sisters, and her identical twin sister Miriam (Kor and Buccieri). Eva and Miriam experienced quite a lot of
pampering from their mother who adorned them in elaborate matching dresses and both twins learned much from their religious father who wished to
have a boy to read Kaddish and participate in

Why Is Josef Mengele Considered The Angel Of Death?
I felt the prick of the needle. I felt the cold operating table. I saw cold face of a man in a white coat. I found out that although I escaped death, I was
welcomed to a much worse fate. I soon found out his name was Josef Mengele. Many medical experiments are done in the name of science however,
the horrific procedures performed by Dr. Josef Mengele can hardly be considered scientific. Through examining the genetic experiments, military
experiments, and anatomical capacities of the human body, it is clear why Mengele is considered the "Angel of Death".
Mengele is from GГјnzburg, Germany. He was born to a prosperous father who own a factory which manufactured farming equipment. He was the
first of three sons. He joined the Nazi Party in 1937, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Josef Mengele can hardly be considered scientific. Through his actions with his experiments and selection process it is clear as to why he is called the
"angel of death". In the immediate post–world war Mengele found himself in custody of the US army, he was quickly released as the US was unaware
of who Mengele was at the time. From the summer of 1945 to the spring of 1949 Mengele worked on a farm under false papers in Rosenheim,
Bavaria. In 1949 his prosperous family helped him with his escape to Argentina. In 1959 a warrant for his arrest had been issued in West Germany
and in 1960 and extraction order had been placed. Scared of the Capture of Adolf Eichmann in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Mengele fled to Paraguay
and eventually to Brazil. He spent the final years of his life in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He died while he was on vacation in Bertioga, Brazil. He was
swimming in a resort pool, when he suffered from a stroke and died. He was confirmed dead on February 7, 1979. He was buried under the fake
name Wolfgang Gerhard. In 1992 Germany authorities exhumed his body and were able to undoubtedly identify it as Josef Mengele (Josef Mengele).

Auschwitz's Angel of Death I. Introduction My generation is one of the first to not be directly affected by the Holocaust. I think in this way it's
easier for us to research and discuss. For us, the Holocaust is jut another terrible time in our world's history. It's another chapter in our history books
that we learn about in school. It's fascinating to research because of all the terrible and unbelievable things that occurred during this time. The topic I
decided to choose is the experimentation done on prisoners in Auschwitz. I chose this topic because I have always been very interested in the medical
field. I started by looking up the health conditions of the prisoners. I wanted to see if the prisoners were ever treated for any... Show more content on

III. Results During the Holocaust, doctors had free reign to do whatever they wanted to any prisoner at any of the concentration camps. The
majority of the prisoners were to be sent to the gas chambers and killed, so the doctors justified their torturous experiments by saying the patients
were fated to die anyways. "Thus, instead of doing their job, instead of bringing assistance and comfort to the sick people who needed them most,
instead of helping the mutilated and the handicapped to live, eat, and hope one more day, one more hour, doctors became their executioners" (Spitz
191). When men and women become doctors they take a vow. In this vow they state to keep the sick from harm and injustice and to never give any
patient a deadly drug. The doctors of the Holocaust simply must have come to the conclusion that this vow, that they were required to make, no longer
applied to them and the prisoners they were "treating". As I conducted my own research on these doctors, I found that there was one doctor in
particular who stood out among the others. A doctor much crueler than the rest, Josef Mengele. He was known as Auschwitz's own "Angel of death".
"Wherever he sprang up, Death spread its shadow" (Spitz 215). Auschwitz sole purpose was mass extermination, and Mengele quickly took advantage
of this. He did not gradually become unethical; his disturbing actions and decisions began the moment he arrived at Auschwitz. "Within

The Holocaust : The Horrors Of The Holocaust
Intro: When the Holocaust began on January 30th, 1933 it brought famine, inhumane experimentation, and most of all death to the Jewish population
(Auschwitz). The prison camps, extermination camps and the labor camps were all located in one vicinity in Poland, which was annexed by Germany
in the beginning of World War II.Adolf Hitler, the horror behind this three–part camp known as Auschwitz and other terrors that came with the
Holocaust, believed the only powerful nationalities in the world were the Jews and the Germans. Hitler's main goal was to annihilate the Jewish
population so the Germans would rule (Auschwitz). His actions brought along torture, savagery and millions of innocent fatalities. Many of the victims
of the horrid experiments have become physically, mentally, and emotionally damaged; yet there are still few establishments to provide rehabilitation
and reintegration into society. Thesis: While some may argue that there are not enough survivors who are still alive at this time to make rehabilitation
centers necessary, these facilities could also serve as means of support for the families of the victims and an education system for newer generations.
Claim: The Holocaust took the lives, families, and humanity from millions of people during its five year reign. In today's world there is still a distinct
lack of amenities provided for the victims of the Holocaust, more specifically for the survivors of the twin experiments. Establish Evidence: The

The Camps
It is truly important to remember what had occurred in labor camps from 1933 to 1939. In Nazi Germany, concentration camps were where people
were sent to work. Jews and other groups of people such as gypsies were sent to these camps. If someone was unable to work, they would be killed.
The camps in Nazi Germany were cruel, and inhumane because people who were unable to work were killed, many caught deadly diseases, people
were marked with wrong symbol, got experimented on, and people were sent to terrible housing.
During the Holocaust typhus was easily spread. "Typhus is spread by fleas, ticks, mites, lice and when they bite an infected person and then bite a
healthy one." ("What Is Typhus") The article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"In some killing centers, carbon monoxide was piped into the chamber. In others, camp guards threw "Zyklon B" pellets down an air shaft. Zyklon

chances to survive than the others. "Babies and young children, pregnant women, the elderly, the handicapped, and the sick had little chance of
surviving this first selection." The camps were terrible because babies, and other innocent people were killed cruelly. After the people were killed, their
bodies were dragged out and people pillaged their body for gold. Their hair was also taken to be

Concentration Camp Research Paper
Bella Gonzalez Dina Hanna Daily Life in The Camps Life in a concentration camp was truly horrific, as many are already aware. But we tend to
overlook the small details about the daily lives of prisoners that make the whole situation so much worse. The moment prisoners arrived at a
concentration camp, they were stripped of their names and possessions. They were all given a number, which was usually tattooed on their wrists
with sharp metal "stamps". After this, their heads were shaved, and prisoners were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received a
black and white striped uniform, with an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side of their shirts and jackets. These badges were
colored inverted triangles, used to let officers know what offense the prisoners were placed in the camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue,
criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political prisoners were red, gypsies were brown, and Jehovah's Witnesses were purple. Jewish
people had to wear a yellow Star of David instead of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more than one offense, they would be made
to wear a yellow triangle with a colored inverted triangle on top of it, forming the Star of David, but also showing the other offense through the color

Rations were cut nearly in half, and because prisoners were forced to labor most of the day, they died of hunger. Nazis also used "death marches".
They literally took prisoners out in rough conditions and made them march for hours for the sole purpose of wiping them out. However, the most
commonly used method of extermination was a gas chamber. Prisoners were locked in a room, and a guard dropped some Zyklon B pellets in with
them. They died after due to the poisonous gas. Babies, young children, and elderly people were killed upon arrival, because they couldn't be used for

The Pros And Cons Of Children Of The Holocaust
Children of the Holocaust When Rahel Mann was born in June of 1937, she was kicked out of the hospital because her mother was Jewish. Because
of the Holocaust, her mother had Rahel baptised to save her (The little ones that got away: Incredible stories of Jewish children who survived the
Nazi holocaust 2). Initially, life for children in this time period was harder than what most people in our generation go through. Children were targeted
by the Nazis and were too young to work, which gave them a disadvantage. One of the few Advantages that children had was their ability to have and
give hope around them.
Usually, children from the holocaust went through many trials before finding salvation, and most did not make it. Though the children were required to
be physically fit and healthy to be able to live through this part of history, they were not the only concepts you needed to undergo survival. Having
emotional strength was important at this time. Because the children had beliefs, hopes and dreams, they had the ... Show more content on

Despite all of this, these young boys and girls still had hope to give, stories to tell, and lessons to teach. The biggest lesson they have taught the
world, was to keep on living, and to spread hope wherever you go. You may never know when you will need a little inspiration. All in all, many
people died from the Holocaust, and few survived. The one element that every survivor had in common was their hope in humanity. Children of the
holocaust had hopes, beliefs, and dreams to deal with the emotional trauma they were put through. After the war, many children grew up to be
aspiring people and live to tell the story of the horrors they had experienced. Everyone had experienced different parts of the Holocaust, so many of
the hardest parts of the Holocaust differ from person to person. As a result of all the torture, the Holocaust is a part of history we never want to

The repressed and non–repressed unconscious tends to function side by side. The repressed unconscious buries traumatic events and the non–repressed
unconscious receives and deals with the non–traumatic events. According to Freud, Anna transferred her repressed unconscious on to Breuer while
Breuer received transference of the unconscious from Anna and returned them back to her. (Campbella & Pile, 2010). Jung agrees with Freud that
personal conscious is a repository of content previously conscious, even though they may have been forgotten. For example; collective unconscious
can be hereditary and transferred to another, which is why Jung agreed with Freud's argument that Anna transferred her affect to Breuer. Both Jung and
Freud agree that a human's unconsciousness is buried deep and few are able to reach it on a psychoanalysis level. However, Jung disagreed with

The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust
The Holocaust is a man made historical catastrophe, yet it provides us with many lessons from the repercussions of hate. Before and during World War
II (1939–1945), Hitler gradually dehumanized the Jewish people, which lead up to placing them into concentration camps. Consequently, Mengele a
"camp doctor" took advantage of this opportunity and cruelly experimented on prisoners (Josef Mengele). Following this, the Sikh temple shooting is
another example of a tragic event with hate as a motive. We can learn many lessons from tragedies caused by hate.
By recognizing the tragedies you can use them to educate for further prevention. During the Holocaust, prisoners of the Auschwitz concentration camp
were subject to receiving tattoos as a form of identification; this treatment resembles the branding of livestock. Similarly, the inmates were assigned
serial numbers much like livestock. The serial numbers that were given out at the camps started out as a way to identify the bodies, and because of
the mortality rate at the camp, they quickly removed the clothing in which there was no way to identify their bodies. Accordingly, the S.S.
authorities introduced tattooing to keep track of the registered prisoners who had died. The methods of tattooing at the concentration camp consisted
of two: the initial method was to use a metal stamp and the other was the use of a single needle. The metal stamp worked by having interchangeable
numbers which allowed the individual series of numbers to be punched into the prisoner with one blow and for ink to be rubbed into the wound. The
use of a single needle device was used after the stamp was proved to be impractical. Ordinarily, it was used to pierce the outline of the numbers onto
the skin (Tattoos and Numbers). Regardless, many people have gotten tattoos of their loved ones serial numbers. The "remembrance" is to represent
honor and to be a reminder to prevent further devastation. With this intention, Ms. Sagir, 21 made this decision to get her own done. As well as others,
her reasoning for getting this tattoo is to tell the story of her grandfather and everyone else that endured the Holocaust. Not to mention, she said that
you speak to people and they believe

The Holocaust : The Experiments Of The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a traumatic event for the Jews, but not only did it affect the Jews, it affected people from different minorities, people with
disabilities, and so on. The lucky ones were able to escape to different countries, or hide in non–Jewish homes. Those who were not lucky were either
killed on the spot, or sent to work in brutal concentration camps. Nazi medical experiments were one of the few ordeals to occur during the
Holocaust. Dr. Josef Mengle performed many horrific experiments, one of them being on twins. To begin with, twins that were a part of the
medical experiments were examined, from head to toe. During the first couple of days, twins were allowed to keep their hair as it was a part of the
data that was collected. Dr. Josef Mengle was an SS physician and also a SS captain who was assigned to perform many different experiments on the
prisoners that were in the camps, many being twins. In addition, Dr. Mengle believed that doing experiments on twins was a search for genetic
studies. It was said that some were better off dying in the gas chambers, then awaiting to be experimented on because it was just so brutal and painful.
Jews were then divided when arriving to the camps. For example, men, women, and children were separated, others were sent straight to the chambers,
and those that seemed out of the ordinary, like twins and dwarfs were placed in the experimental blocks. On the other hand, Dr. Mengle performed
different types experiments on

Hitler was trying to make a master of blued eyed blonde hair pure German people. People who believed him were called Nazis. He also did not like the

Josef Mengele Research Paper
Josef Mengele a German SS officer and physician during World War II, is infamous for performing malicious medical experiments on prisoners at
Auschwitz concentration camp, in contemplation of creating the perfect Aryan race. Mengele is a prominent member of the doctors responsible for
the selections of innocent people who were killed within the camp's gas chambers. Mengele aided prodigiously in the attempt to fulfill the Nazi's
"Final Solution"; their plan to exterminate the Jewish race. By looking at Dr. Josef Mengele, one can see that he was patently deranged by his
malicious ways, which is important because it gives reasoning for why he aided in the deaths of many Jews during the Holocaust with no remorse or
mercy. Notably, through his focus on conducting in humane experiments on Jews and the selections at the concentration camps, Dr. Josef Mengele
aided in completing the merciless task of Hitler's Final Solution. "And, in a soft voice, he read out about ten numbers. We had understood. These were

Angel Of Death: A Story Of Aranka's Life
I thought it was a good idea for Besserman to document his mother's story in this way. He recognized that her story was one worth telling, but also
realized that she would not have been the best person to tell it. This is due to the fact that Besserman's mother has dementia, so she would probably
be unable to tell her story. It was also smart to tell Aranka's (Besserman's mother) story in chronological order. It was amazing to me how much of
Aranka's life felt like a fictional story. There were so many events that happened over the course of Aranka's life that almost seemed too unbelievable to
be true. I can't even imagine what it was like for Aranka to live through all these events that we had heard about. One theme that I found was very
strong and prevalent throughout the story was the importance of family. Aranka's bond with her sisters was very touching to watch, especially during
their time in the concentration camps. I liked that they had a code word (Atkar) to find each other if they ever got separated. This was especially
important after they got separated from their mother at Auschwitz. After that, they only had each other. They had no family left. For them to survive, it
was important that they stayed together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was a very brave decision and it probably saved her life. There's no telling what would have happened to Aranka if she had stayed to the left. There's a
very good chance she would not have lived and we would have never heard her story. But Aranka had the courage to change her fate and saved her own

The Is The Thought Of Mind Control Of People
Some people believe there are conspiracies out there. If you go around and ask random people about certain conspiracies they will say one of three
things: " I have never heard of this event.", "That event never happened. That does not even sound realistic.", or " This event definitely did occur.
You just do not see any proof because the government destroyed all proof and paperwork." People will naturally have different opinions. I believe
these events have to exist. There are too many cover ups and boring actions in life for there not to be anything out there that is not true, even if it does

Project Monarch is the believed mind control of people. In the beginning the concept of mind control can be traced back to Egypt, Greece, India and
Babylon; especially back to Egypt from the source called the Book of the Dead. In the book the details have been revealed of torture, using drugs, and
hypnotism. From there on the concept of mind control has been used widely, such as "During the 13th Century, the Roman Catholic church increased
and solidified its dominion throughout Europe with the infamous Inquisition." ( Patton Operation Monarch ) The most famous usage was during
WWII. Multiple scientist such as Dr. Joseph Mengele or Dr. Green, he was also nicknamed the Angel of Death. " he is infamous for his sordid human

Analysis of Sanaotrium Purkersdorf by Josef Hoffmann Essay
The Purkersdorf Sanatorium and the Fusion of Function and Design
Stark white and machine–like from a distance, the Purkersdorf Sanatorium designed by Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann emanates a feeling of
sterility. However, the building also exhibits a hint of luxurious charm upon closer observation. As the first major commission for the Wiener
Werkstätte company,Josef Hoffmann was determined to introduce his forward looking ideas to the era. Through the sanatorium, Hoffmann
successfully demonstrated not only the visual appeals of modern simplicity but also how modernism was appropriately adjusted to enhance the
building's intended purpose.
Having studied under renowned architect Otto Wagner, Josef Hoffmann was familiar with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the lamps, tables and window designs mirror similar geometric patterns. By doing so, what Hoffmann has created is a harmonious environment
that is both practical and visually soothing The sanatorium provided a diverse offering of programs and resources to patients. Their services included
hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, special diets, etc. Their facilities included billiard rooms, reading rooms, music rooms, saloons, etc. Patients could access
everything they needed to feel comfortable. The effective layout planning of the building contributed to effective therapy practices. Utilities and
services were hidden in the basement, social gathering and dining spaces were on the first floor, and living quarters were on the second and third floors.
This separation of spaces due to functions created an intuitive organizational structure. The luxury and layout referenced the style of a grand hotel, but
included many quality health related benefits. With an array of functional offerings, each room in the sanatorium was designed to best serve the
function of the room. For example, the bedrooms intended for tuberculosis patients had the largest windows to allow the greatest amount of sunlight
possible.5
Just as functionally focused as the exterior, Hoffmann used the same concept of practicality when designing the interior elements of the Purkersdorf
Sanatorium. As a traditionally trained artist, Hoffmann was not just an architect, but innovator in

My Personal Story : The Story Of My Family Story
My family story is not about someone who is blood–related, but rather a family friend of my great grandmother. Her name is Eva Mozes Kor, a twin
of her sister Miriam, born in nineteen thirty–four. They were born into a family of three other children. They resided a tiny town in Transylvania,
Romania. In May of nineteen forty–four, Eva and her family arrived by train car at the concentration camp, Auschwitz. They got down from the train
car, where people were chosen to live or die. People were crying, pushing, and shoving each other. Dogs were barking, everyone was trying to make
sense of the place. Eva turned around while trying to identify where the Nazis had taken her and her family. She had never seen or even heard of a
place like this. When she turned around, she realized that her father and her two older sisters were gone and she never saw them again. She and her
twin sister Miriam were holding onto their mother for dear life. A Nazi was running in the middle of that selection platform, yelling at the other Nazis,
"Twins, twins." while pointing at Eva and her sister. Another nazi then noticed them and commanded to know if Eva and Miriam were twins. Her
mother then asked "Is that good?" and the Nazi responded "yes." Then her mother said, "yes they are twins." At that moment, another nazi came, pulled
her mother to the right and pulled her and her sister the other way, they were crying as they watched their mother sobbing while being pulled away
from them. All Eva can

The Holocaust : The Most Tragic Events Of History
The Holocaust was one of the most tragic events in history. Although, many may deny the horrifying events that took innocent lives away evidence of
the medical experiments are able to prove that it did. On January 19 ,1933 The Nazi's invaded Germany. When dictator Adolf Hitler came to power he
took many innocent lives by discriminating against the Jews, Gypsies, Jehovah 's witness, Polish, socialist, Russians, and homosexuals. During the
World War II, numerous German Doctors conducted inhumane and painful experiments on thousands of concentration camp prisoners without consent.
The Nazi Party began human experiments exploring limitations of the human body and trying to from the perfect race. Around thirty different
experiments were performed on human subjects at the different camp sites. The results of the experiments were unbearable pain, mutilation, disability,
and death. During the Nuremberg doctor trails sixteen of the twenty–three defendants were found guilty of their crimes. Men, women , and innocent
children were used as experiments during the Holocaust. The Doctors during that time performed horrifying procedures on the innocent victims such
as : Freezing / Hypothermia, Infectious Diseases , Interrogation and Torture , Killing / Genocide , Pharmacological ,Sterilization , Surgery , and
Traumatic Injuries. Years later some prisoners managed to survive and share their story, and receive some type of justice by the Doctors taken to trial.

Stationed in Auschwitz "The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing." This was spoken a head doctor to his Jewish inmates
at the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp. He's quite important in history, because of the countless deaths he authorized. Josef Mengele,
"Angel of death," greatly impacted history because of his participation in selection, his ruthless experiments and the killing of Jews. Josef
Mengele's choice in selection in Auschwitz, the concentration camp, didn't go unnoticed Jews found it very scary to have such a calm man direct
them to their deaths. Josef Mengele arrived in Auschwitz on May 24, 1943, when he was 32. There he spent 21 months and was appointed as the
chief physician. He also helped with the selection decided which Jews died and which lived. He directed them left to die and right to live with a

Usually, he conducted experiments on people's abnormal features. Thousands of Jews were injected for his "experiments." Mainly he injected people
with two different colored eyes. He studied and dissected twins and removed organs from healthy people just to see what happened. Many died from
experiments while others were murdered, but when he wasn't experimenting on them he was nice. He was especially kind to the children, he would
give them more food and candy and better clothing plus joke with them. Also the "Mengele kids" never got beaten by guards or forced to work. He
encouraged kids to call him Uncle Mengele. Josef Mengele thought he would find something "groundbreaking" that he could

"We'll get through it" I always thought trains were nice, until i had to sit in one for days on end. I didn't want to sit down, but i didn't want to stand
up, as I'd always get jostled around no matter what happened. I didn't want to be on the floor because the ocean of yellowish black sloshed around
me. This can't be happening i thought to myself. Why would humans allow this to happen? How can this happen? The saltwater trickling down my
eye sockets is swiped away by my husband. "It's going to be fine honey. We'll get through this." "Yeah. We will." Auschwitz was a far cry from a

I was given an outfit I could only describe as... fallacious for a personal assistant. It was more like a SS guard's cook outfit than a regular inmate's.
I worked there for as far longer than I wanted to, but that was true for all of Auschwitz. I worked there for about 2 years. Most of the time I was
simply cooking for the SS officer, but I don't think I ever learned his name. Maybe he thought I wasn't worthy of learning his name. Maybe he
thought I wasn't worthy of this job. I lived every day fearing that he would deal the finishing blow after beating me. In the last month that I worked
there, I could tell the SS guard was becoming more hostile than hitler, even to other guards. When I got the chance, I went into his office to see
what he was so mad about. HANS SCHMITZ, IS HEREBY BANNED FROM AUSCHWITZ FOR MISCONDUCT AGAINST OTHER GUARDS.
HE IS TO LEAVE THE PREMISES AT 1400, TOMORROW. His name was Hans. Or he just assumes his friend's name is Hans, and he is mad for
leaving. I'm guessing his name was Hans. But the date is from 2 years ago. I stayed up that night just thinking over how or why he was still here. Was
it my fault? Did I do something that made him stay here? Why is he here if he was banned? Wait. Then he obviously isn't banned. Or is he?
"AARGH!" This racked my brain harder than something... something... Very hard? I was awoken by gunshots. But there were much more than usual. I

Dr. Josef Mengele was a doctor in the Auschwitz concentration camp. He conducted many medical experiments during the Holocaust. One of his
experiments consisted on taking baby twins and sew them together to make Siamese twins, he would see if they could still live while doing these
experiments. Another thing he did to twins was that he would inject different types of drugs into them and see what would the drug do to them and
also see if they could last through all of the injections. If he messed up one on of the twins he would always have another one to test on. Freezing
people was also another experiment that he conducted to people and especially men. He would stick the men into a freezer which was at zero degrees.

A camp prisoner's day began with an early–morning wake–up call, followed by a wash in dirty water(Steele 52). They then had to quickly go outside
and stand perfectly still while the Nazis called out their numbers. It would take the Nazis several hours to call out everyone's numbers. Sometimes
they would do it a second time because when they were standing still for hours they could pass out or even die from standing that long and those
standing next to them couldn't do anything about it until after roll call. After roll call the Jews would go straight to work without anything to eat
until lunch. At lunch time they would all line up with their bowls and wait to get watery soup. Those who were at the back of the line get nothing
but water. When they were finished with their lunch they had to go back to work. They would work for the rest of the day until dinner time. At
dinner, the prisoners were lucky to even get a small piece of burned bread and after dinner the Jews would go to bed. "By the time that the

The Methods of Execution and the Medical Experiments at Auschwitz My report will deal with the ways the prisoners of the Auschwitz
concentration camp were executed, and also the medical experiments that took place. Accurate statistics were not kept, but the estimation of deaths
that took place at Auschwitz ranged from 1.5 million to 4 million. Jews were the largest number of people who were killed. Poles and Soviet
prisoners were also killed. The principle sites of Auschwitz, were the executions took place, were in the courtyard, and also block 11. The methods of
execution were hangings, shootings, starvation, and being gassed. The decision to shoot a prisoner could be made by the Gestapo, or by the SS.

The prisoners would be held in a single cell in block 11. Food and water were withheld from them. Each day an SS officer would look through a
peephole to see if the prisoners were still alive. About every other day the dead bodies would be removed. Auschwitz had gas chambers that were
made to resemble showers. The unskilled people that arrived were told that they would be cleaned and to go to the showers. When they got in the
doors they were immediately locked and the gas was turned on. In the gas chambers up to 1,500 people could be killed at one time, and it took from
10–20 minutes for the people to die. The Nazis used a cyanide gas, which was called Zyklon–B. This type of gas was manufactured by a pest–control
company. Medical experiments were done on many of the prisoners of the concentration camp, but mostly on twins, and dwarfs. The main medical
doctor that conducted these experiments was Joseph Mengel who was also known as the "Angle of death." The main types of medical experiments
dealt with freezing/hypothermia, genetics, infectious diseases, interrogation, torture, genocide, high altitude, pharmacological, sterilization, surgery,
and traumatic injuries. Freezing/hypothermia were conducted by the Nazi high command to simulate what the armies suffered on the Eastern Front.
The experiments were divided into two parts. The first part was to determine how long that it takes to lower the body temperature so the person dies, and

Eduard Wirths As A Doctor
During World War II, death, experimentation, and being a Jewish person was a fear that all people had to worry about in Nazi Germany from 1939 to
1945; particularly in concentration camps. Eduard Wirths was both a hero and an anti–hero towards his patients, depending on what stance a person
takes. Wirths was known to have a sympathetic side to him that was a saving grace for many. However, the experimentation he allowed patients to
suffer through in order to gain success for his own research is what makes him a criminal Nazi doctor. As the lead SS doctor for Auschwitz, Eduard
Wirths' main duty was to oversee all that went on within the camps, and he approved work done by others such as Joseph Mengele. Eduard Wirths
was a dedicated party member, a competent physician, and a renowned Auschwitz enemy. Eduard Wirths was a conscientious doctor with a confused
set of morals that may have been a lot more caring than an SS doctor should have been. Growing up, Eduard Wirths' family was Catholic and had a
strong set of democratic socialist values. His father, who was a medical corpsman during World War I, often expressed that Wirths shared the same

Josef Mengele : The Angel Of Death Essay
Josef Mengele, known to many as the Angel of Death, was one of the most infamous doctors in the Holocaust. Born to a German, upper class,
devout Catholic family in 1911, Mengele began feeling a sense of social, religious and racial superiority at an incredibly young age (ushmm.org).
In 1931, he joined a nationalistic veteran's organization and began growing incredibly fascinated by the Nazi regime; reinforcing his already
established framework of personal supremacy. At this early stage, the path to infamy and finding power, superiority and control was starting to be
paved. He joined the SS in 1938, was drafted into the army in 1940, and began his studies in anthropology and racial morphology around the exact
same time; a deadly combination (ushmm.org). His fascination with the Nazi party, a potential meeting with Hitler himself and his newly established
spot in the SS and military all seemed to drive his intellectual choices and studies (Lifton, 2014, p. 339). He figured out a way to perfectly weave
together his interest in the Nazi's ideals of anti–Semitism, his need for striving for personal power and control, and his studies on racial dominance, all
of which lead him to Auschwitz where his real infamy began and would ultimately end. Mengele may have not been born with the goal of becoming
powerful by ultimately being responsible for the death of an estimated 400,000 people in the Holocaust and for his inhumane medical experiments in
Auschwitz, but his acquired and

Shakespeare. In the beginning years of his career, he was influenced by Antonin Dvorak, who was Suk's professor at a music academy called Prague

Otilie was impressed with her fathers and husbands works of music and she loved to play the piano, but sadly died at a young age. After the death of

The sun peacefully begins to set and the world falls into darkness as light snow begins to accumulate. As the night approaches, soft breezes change the
snow's direction from time to time. The wind slowly gets more powerful with every gust making it evident that the storm is entering its infant stage.
Suddenly, there is a long suspenseful rumble. The cabin and barn braces for the unblockable wall of wind that races into the buildings. The doors and
shutters get buffeted ferociously as their henges scream in agony trying to hold on. While looking through the window, a nearby tree succumbs to the

dangerous to witness, causing every being in the cabin to search for cover. The next morning, the sun rises through a light and gentle snow. Cautiously,
everyone stumbles outside to notice that the barn withstood the storm. The anxiety of not knowing the extent of the damage is put to rest, and
everyone returns to reality and can return to their daily lives.

Three thousand twins entered Auschwitz between 1940 and 1944. Only two hundred and fifty pairs of twins ever had the smell of freedom again.
Why did this unfortunate event occur? It occurred because the Nazis party was in control and Adolf Hitler was the Fuhrer and he wanted a perfect

name was Josef Mengele. (Nazi304) Hitler gave Mengele all the resources he could and this is the main reason why he went to Auschwitz, because the

Dr. Mengele's Lethal Journey Josef Mengele was known as the "Angel of Death" and he was an S.S physician during the Holocaust in the concentration

Mengele's experiment he often practiced was called Heterochromia. That was the creation of which an individual's irises differ in coloration. In
attempts to fabricate blue eyes, drops or injections of chemicals would be put in the eyes. This often caused severe pain, infections, and temporary
or permanent blindness. The reasoning for changing the prisoners eye color and most blood transfusion experiments was to raise the Aryan
birthrate (Pomeroy). According to sahistory.org, another one of Mengele's experiments were the mass sterilization of the Jews, Roma, and other
prisoners that were not German. Hitler argued that the German (he wrongly described them as the Aryan race) was superior to all others . Hitler
was obsessed with 'racial purity'. He used the word 'Aryan' to describe his idea of a 'pure German race' or Herrenvolk. The Nazis believed that the
Aryans had the most "pure blood" of all the people on earth. The ideal Aryan had pale skin, blond hair and blue eyes. The 'Aryan race' had a duty to
control the world (Britannica 1). The experiments that mengele performed were horrifying. Even if they were not as famous as the main experiments
he did they still were brutal. Experiments involved injections of lethal germs like chloroform causing instant death, sex change operations, human
bodies sewn to another human body to create siamese twins, removal of organs and limbs, and blood

The Angel of Death We have all heard about the tragedy of the Holocaust. Horrendous, atrocious, brutal. These are all words that are used to describe
the endless suffering of the Jewish people. But what not many people know of are the dark and sinister scientists that were behind a lot of this
genocide. Thousands of people, murdered. Not the citizens that were plastered on the headlines of every Newspaper, but the victims who suffered in
silence. The innocent people that were tortured, degraded, and experimented on by one man: Dr. Josef Mengele. This man, or monster, rather, was no

Night Reflection Paper
The Holocaust, lasting from 1933 to 1945, was a period of time when German Nazis sent Jews, Gypsies, and others ostracized by the Nazis to
concentration camps. They were sent to die, and in turn the prisoners got their identity stripped from them. Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the
Holocaust was 15 when his town was relocated to the camp Auschwitz. For 11 months, Elie moved from one camp to the next, escaping Death
with the skin of his teeth each time. After being liberated in April 1945, Elie went on to write books about his experience, and to even win a
Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. In Elie's book Night, he writes about his identity being stripped from himself by the SS officers working in the
concentration camps. Right from the first few days at camp, Elie witnessed how SS officers decided who got to live and die merely by the
smallest discrepancy in their posture, whether it was a quivering finger on the trigger, or the brisk flick of a baton, telling prisoners which side of a
forked path to follow; one leading to the crematorium. With his father, Elie met Dr. Mengele at the center of a crossroad; "he was holding a
conductor's baton and was surrounded by officers. The baton was moving constantly, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left" (Wiesel 31). Dr.
Mengele got to choose life or death of the prisoners merely by his own preference, making the prisoners seem nothing more than play–pretend dolls or
wide–eyed pigs on their way to the slaughterhouse. After being assigned

childhood, activities during the war, and his whereabouts after the war in order to prevent another man like him from being able to cause so much
destruction and devastation.
Josef Mengele wasn't always the murderous Nazi that he was known to be. Born in Gunzburg, Bavaria, on March 16, 1911. He was the eldest of the
three sons of Karl and Walburga Mengele, his father being a prosperous farming manufacturer. Where Mengele grew up, the whole community had a

In the June of 1940, Josef was drafted into the army, and soon after volunteered into the medical service of the Waffen–SS (Armed SS). While on duty
he mainly served in France and Russia, but his service in the line of duty was short lived. Mengele was wounded while on campaign, and he returned to
Germany in the January of 1943, where he was deemed unfit for combat. Even though not on active duty, he was promoted to S.S. captain and started
work with Kaiser Wilhelm at the Institute of Anthropology, Human Genetics, and Eugenics. Soon after being placed there, he was transferred to
Auschwitz and appointed to the chief doctor on May 30, 1943. It was here where he further research on racial differences, mentally disabled,
anomalies of giants, dwarfs, hunchbacks, and other deformities. He also conducted gruesome experiments on his patients at Auschwitz. Josef
Mengele soon was known as "The Angel of Death", and after the end of the war, it was found that he himself killed over 400,000 of Auschwitz's
inmates. Some inmates of Auschwitz recalled Josef's time there as, " He made Auschwitz a nightmarish world unto itself" (Cefrey 63). After the war,
Mengele led a very different

  • 2. Research Paper On Mengele Introduction [attention getter] Mengele once said, "The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it." [topic justification] Mengele is very important to the Holocaust because he shows that Nazis didn't care. They didn't care if the Jews suffered and died, they just knew Hitler was their leader and wanted to keep their family safe. [credibility] Research shows that Mengele did many experiments on camp prisoners. [orientation] WWII started September 1st 1939 and lasted until September 2nd 1945. The holocaust started January 30th 1933 and ended May 8th 1945. This all started because Hitler didn't like the jews and ordered his people to take out all Jews. [preview of main ideas/thesis] Josef Mengele was an SS doctor, one of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Third main idea i. [topic sentence] Mengele did many experiments to many different people like attaching twins' eyeballs to each other's heads, attaching and detaching limbs, and so on.ii. [support for III] He enjoyed having his assistants round up 14 gypsy twins one night, then injecting chloroform into the hearts and killing them, which then he dissected every inch of their bodies. iii. [analysis of support] Twins and children which were later to be experimented on had no idea that was going to happen to them. iv. [support for III] One experiment he tried was injecting chemicals into the subject's eyes to try and change them colors. v. [analysis of support] Just like Mengele his assistant, Dr. Herta Oberhauser, was inhumane. She rubbed grounded glass into open wounds, killed with oil and evipan injections, and removed vital organs. vi. [transition statement] Most say they remember Josef as the man that would give them chocolates and treat them like family, some even called him "Uncle Josef". III.Conclusion [summary] No matter the Nazi they thought they were doing what was right, what their country needed. Mengele helped us learn a lot of things about twins and others, not in the best way, but we are now more educated about the human body and twins. Still, no matter the Nazi they were all ... The limitations of genetic science for families are the misinterpretation of the results and information regarding testing. Most people do not understand the results which can result in the assumption that either their test came back negative when it did not, or that is came back positive when it did not. Another limitation to genetic testing is the psychosocial affect the results can have on families, which can cause high levels of anxiety and deteriorate relationships and families (Sparbel & Tluczek, 2011). The benefits of genetic science for society is for employers who want to know if their employers are in excellent working condition and if the worker will cause them more money when obtaining health insurance. If an employer hires someone that that is healthy then the cost of health insurance does not rise and the employee will not have to downgrade their health insurance plan so that they can accommodate the employee that is not healthy. The limitations of genetic science for society are the possibility of genetic testing causing safety issues at work, the development of a genetic low class, the breach of privilege and confidentiality, and the utilization of genetic bias to excuse different methods of discrimination (Krumm, 2002). The benefits of reproductive science for individuals, such as single women and lesbian couples, are that it increases the chances of them becoming parents and with the use of a sperm donor in ... • 4. Social Media And Its Effect On Society Essay Journal #2: Through Einstein and Freud's exchanges in Why War, it was stated by Sigmund Freud that war is the result to resolve conflict through the means of violence (Freud, p. 549). He claims that there is no permanent fix to war; rather there is a temporary fix through the creation of a community bonded by a shared identity and emotional ties (Freud, 550). Our society has changed drastically in several different aspects since this paper was originally written in 1932, but the largest way that we have grown can be credited towards technology. Through the use of technology, the ideas of Sigmund Freud on the prevention of war have been greatly strengthened. This strength comes specifically in the aspects of community bonding, giving the "ruled" a voice in a hierarchical world, and creating a transparency of the hidden crimes committed by "ruling" class. Social media has been used as platforms for contact, socialization, and cooperation on a global scale. It has armed those who previously would have struggled with being heard with the ability to have a voice. Platforms such as Twitter and Facebook have allowed the production of discussion by allowing people to feel more free to express their opinions and thus, broadening public discourse and veering away from the dominance of the hegemonic views of the group that Freud phrased as the "rulers" (551). A perfect example of how minorities are more able to have a voice than ever through the use of social media can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Josef Mengele Research Paper Dr Josef Mengele was a German (SS) solider and a Nazi doctor at Auschwitz death camp during WWII. Dr Mengele was known as the 'Angel of Death' of 'White Angel' because of his cruel gruesome experiments he performed on prisoners. Dr Josef Mengele, with his role of Nazi doctor at a famous death camp, was cruel and cold–hearted because of his gruesome experiments on prisioners. Mengele was the eldest of three children and was born March 11, 1911 in Gunzburg, Germany. Dr Mengele performed medical experiments on men, women and children prisoners of Auschwitz Death Camp. Mengele was given complete freedom under secrecy enabling him to give lethal injections, dissect, shot, freeze and even castarate his prisoner test subjects. These lethal injections, made from germs were used in attempt to artificially change the subject's eye colour. The test subjects also known as the prisoners, either died from the experiment or from being shoot, very few survived. The man Mengele was working with, Dr Omar Von Verschuer, was also widely known for having a fascination with twins, more specifically identical twins. Mengele performed a range of experiments on as many as 1500 sets of twins. Some of these experiments were chemically changing eye colour, conjoining twins and even seeing how long they could last with breathing in poisonous gas daily. He also attempted to work with genetics as he believed that genetics can help improve our futures. Dr Mengele a well–educated, experienced, research doctor at Auschwitz death camp believed that; if Aryan women could assuredly give birth to twins who were sure to be blond and blue eyed – then the future could essentially be saved. • 6. Eva Mozes Kor Not all Jewish survivors had an opportunity to go into hiding during the holocaust, and some of the survivors faced deadly concentration camps from the beginning to the end. The survivors from camps lost everything immediately and hope quickly became a foreign aspect to those in the death camps compared to the Jews holding out in hiding. Eva Mozes Kor and her twin sister Miriam, experienced the horrors of Auschwitz and Dr.Josef Mengele at the young age of ten years old. The young girls had to adapt quickly in a chaotic world where they had no family, no food or water, and only having the realization of remaining in a harsh, stinging reality of Auschwitz and becoming human experiments (Scheinerman). Around fifteen hundred twins suffered from experiments similar to those Eva and Miriam encountered, and most of those children died from the inhumane experiments (candlesholocaustmuseum.org). Eva's strength and determination worked as an anchor for her and Miriam, pulling both of them through the struggles each twin faced throughout their time at the camp. Eva Kor Mozes, born on January 31, 1934, grew up in the village of Portz in Transylvania, Romania with her parents, two older sisters, and her identical twin sister Miriam (Kor and Buccieri). Eva and Miriam experienced quite a lot of pampering from their mother who adorned them in elaborate matching dresses and both twins learned much from their religious father who wished to have a boy to read Kaddish and participate in ... • 7. Why Is Josef Mengele Considered The Angel Of Death? I felt the prick of the needle. I felt the cold operating table. I saw cold face of a man in a white coat. I found out that although I escaped death, I was welcomed to a much worse fate. I soon found out his name was Josef Mengele. Many medical experiments are done in the name of science however, the horrific procedures performed by Dr. Josef Mengele can hardly be considered scientific. Through examining the genetic experiments, military experiments, and anatomical capacities of the human body, it is clear why Mengele is considered the "Angel of Death". Mengele is from GГјnzburg, Germany. He was born to a prosperous father who own a factory which manufactured farming equipment. He was the first of three sons. He joined the Nazi Party in 1937, ... Through his actions with his experiments and selection process it is clear as to why he is called the "angel of death". In the immediate post–world war Mengele found himself in custody of the US army, he was quickly released as the US was unaware of who Mengele was at the time. From the summer of 1945 to the spring of 1949 Mengele worked on a farm under false papers in Rosenheim, Bavaria. In 1949 his prosperous family helped him with his escape to Argentina. In 1959 a warrant for his arrest had been issued in West Germany and in 1960 and extraction order had been placed. Scared of the Capture of Adolf Eichmann in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Mengele fled to Paraguay and eventually to Brazil. He spent the final years of his life in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He died while he was on vacation in Bertioga, Brazil. He was swimming in a resort pool, when he suffered from a stroke and died. He was confirmed dead on February 7, 1979. He was buried under the fake name Wolfgang Gerhard. In 1992 Germany authorities exhumed his body and were able to undoubtedly identify it as Josef Mengele (Josef Mengele). • 8. Auschwitz 's Angel Of Death Auschwitz's Angel of Death I. Introduction My generation is one of the first to not be directly affected by the Holocaust. I think in this way it's easier for us to research and discuss. For us, the Holocaust is jut another terrible time in our world's history. It's another chapter in our history books that we learn about in school. It's fascinating to research because of all the terrible and unbelievable things that occurred during this time. The topic I decided to choose is the experimentation done on prisoners in Auschwitz. I chose this topic because I have always been very interested in the medical field. Results During the Holocaust, doctors had free reign to do whatever they wanted to any prisoner at any of the concentration camps. The majority of the prisoners were to be sent to the gas chambers and killed, so the doctors justified their torturous experiments by saying the patients were fated to die anyways. "Thus, instead of doing their job, instead of bringing assistance and comfort to the sick people who needed them most, instead of helping the mutilated and the handicapped to live, eat, and hope one more day, one more hour, doctors became their executioners" (Spitz 191). When men and women become doctors they take a vow. In this vow they state to keep the sick from harm and injustice and to never give any patient a deadly drug. The doctors of the Holocaust simply must have come to the conclusion that this vow, that they were required to make, no longer applied to them and the prisoners they were "treating". As I conducted my own research on these doctors, I found that there was one doctor in particular who stood out among the others. A doctor much crueler than the rest, Josef Mengele. He was known as Auschwitz's own "Angel of death". "Wherever he sprang up, Death spread its shadow" (Spitz 215). Auschwitz sole purpose was mass extermination, and Mengele quickly took advantage of this. He did not gradually become unethical; his disturbing actions and decisions began the moment he arrived at Auschwitz. "Within ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Holocaust : The Horrors Of The Holocaust Intro: When the Holocaust began on January 30th, 1933 it brought famine, inhumane experimentation, and most of all death to the Jewish population (Auschwitz). The prison camps, extermination camps and the labor camps were all located in one vicinity in Poland, which was annexed by Germany in the beginning of World War II.Adolf Hitler, the horror behind this three–part camp known as Auschwitz and other terrors that came with the Holocaust, believed the only powerful nationalities in the world were the Jews and the Germans. Hitler's main goal was to annihilate the Jewish population so the Germans would rule (Auschwitz). His actions brought along torture, savagery and millions of innocent fatalities. Many of the victims of the horrid experiments have become physically, mentally, and emotionally damaged; yet there are still few establishments to provide rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Thesis: While some may argue that there are not enough survivors who are still alive at this time to make rehabilitation centers necessary, these facilities could also serve as means of support for the families of the victims and an education system for newer generations. Claim: The Holocaust took the lives, families, and humanity from millions of people during its five year reign. In today's world there is still a distinct lack of amenities provided for the victims of the Holocaust, more specifically for the survivors of the twin experiments. • 10. Concentration Camps In Nazi Germany Elias Joshua Angel Victoria The Camps It is truly important to remember what had occurred in labor camps from 1933 to 1939. In Nazi Germany, concentration camps were where people were sent to work. Jews and other groups of people such as gypsies were sent to these camps. If someone was unable to work, they would be killed. The camps in Nazi Germany were cruel, and inhumane because people who were unable to work were killed, many caught deadly diseases, people were marked with wrong symbol, got experimented on, and people were sent to terrible housing. During the Holocaust typhus was easily spread. "Typhus is spread by fleas, ticks, mites, lice and when they bite an infected person and then bite a healthy one." ("What Is Typhus") The article ... • 11. Concentration Camp Research Paper Bella Gonzalez Dina Hanna Daily Life in The Camps Life in a concentration camp was truly horrific, as many are already aware. But we tend to overlook the small details about the daily lives of prisoners that make the whole situation so much worse. The moment prisoners arrived at a concentration camp, they were stripped of their names and possessions. They were all given a number, which was usually tattooed on their wrists with sharp metal "stamps". After this, their heads were shaved, and prisoners were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received a black and white striped uniform, with an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side of their shirts and jackets. These badges were colored inverted triangles, used to let officers know what offense the prisoners were placed in the camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue, criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political prisoners were red, gypsies were brown, and Jehovah's Witnesses were purple. Jewish people had to wear a yellow Star of David instead of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more than one offense, they would be made to wear a yellow triangle with a colored inverted triangle on top of it, forming the Star of David, but also showing the other offense through the color coded... Initially, life for children in this time period was harder than what most people in our generation go through. Children were targeted by the Nazis and were too young to work, which gave them a disadvantage. One of the few Advantages that children had was their ability to have and give hope around them. Usually, children from the holocaust went through many trials before finding salvation, and most did not make it. • 14. The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust The Holocaust is a man made historical catastrophe, yet it provides us with many lessons from the repercussions of hate. Before and during World War II (1939–1945), Hitler gradually dehumanized the Jewish people, which lead up to placing them into concentration camps. Consequently, Mengele a "camp doctor" took advantage of this opportunity and cruelly experimented on prisoners (Josef Mengele). Following this, the Sikh temple shooting is another example of a tragic event with hate as a motive. We can learn many lessons from tragedies caused by hate. By recognizing the tragedies you can use them to educate for further prevention. During the Holocaust, prisoners of the Auschwitz concentration camp were subject to receiving tattoos as a form of identification; this treatment resembles the branding of livestock. Similarly, the inmates were assigned serial numbers much like livestock. The serial numbers that were given out at the camps started out as a way to identify the bodies, and because of the mortality rate at the camp, they quickly removed the clothing in which there was no way to identify their bodies. Accordingly, the S.S. authorities introduced tattooing to keep track of the registered prisoners who had died. The methods of tattooing at the concentration camp consisted of two: the initial method was to use a metal stamp and the other was the use of a single needle. The metal stamp worked by having interchangeable numbers which allowed the individual series of numbers to be punched into the prisoner with one blow and for ink to be rubbed into the wound. The use of a single needle device was used after the stamp was proved to be impractical. Ordinarily, it was used to pierce the outline of the numbers onto the skin (Tattoos and Numbers). Regardless, many people have gotten tattoos of their loved ones serial numbers. The "remembrance" is to represent honor and to be a reminder to prevent further devastation. With this intention, Ms. Sagir, 21 made this decision to get her own done. As well as others, her reasoning for getting this tattoo is to tell the story of her grandfather and everyone else that endured the Holocaust. The Holocaust : The Experiments Of The Holocaust The Holocaust was a traumatic event for the Jews, but not only did it affect the Jews, it affected people from different minorities, people with disabilities, and so on. The lucky ones were able to escape to different countries, or hide in non–Jewish homes. Those who were not lucky were either killed on the spot, or sent to work in brutal concentration camps. Nazi medical experiments were one of the few ordeals to occur during the Holocaust. Dr. Josef Mengle performed many horrific experiments, one of them being on twins. To begin with, twins that were a part of the medical experiments were examined, from head to toe. During the first couple of days, twins were allowed to keep their hair as it was a part of the data that was collected. Dr. Josef Mengle was an SS physician and also a SS captain who was assigned to perform many different experiments on the prisoners that were in the camps, many being twins. In addition, Dr. Mengle believed that doing experiments on twins was a search for genetic studies. It was said that some were better off dying in the gas chambers, then awaiting to be experimented on because it was just so brutal and painful. Jews were then divided when arriving to the camps. Mengele aided prodigiously in the attempt to fulfill the Nazi's "Final Solution"; their plan to exterminate the Jewish race. By looking at Dr. Josef Mengele, one can see that he was patently deranged by his malicious ways, which is important because it gives reasoning for why he aided in the deaths of many Jews during the Holocaust with no remorse or mercy. He recognized that her story was one worth telling, but also realized that she would not have been the best person to tell it. This is due to the fact that Besserman's mother has dementia, so she would probably be unable to tell her story. It was also smart to tell Aranka's (Besserman's mother) story in chronological order. It was amazing to me how much of Aranka's life felt like a fictional story. There were so many events that happened over the course of Aranka's life that almost seemed too unbelievable to be true. I can't even imagine what it was like for Aranka to live through all these events that we had heard about. One theme that I found was very strong and prevalent throughout the story was the importance of family. Aranka's bond with her sisters was very touching to watch, especially during their time in the concentration camps. I liked that they had a code word (Atkar) to find each other if they ever got separated. This was especially important after they got separated from their mother at Auschwitz. Each day an SS officer would look through a peephole to see if the prisoners were still alive. About every other day the dead bodies would be removed. Auschwitz had gas chambers that were made to resemble showers. The unskilled people that arrived were told that they would be cleaned and to go to the showers. When they got in the doors they were immediately locked and the gas was turned on. In the gas chambers up to 1,500 people could be killed at one time, and it took from 10–20 minutes for the people to die. The Nazis used a cyanide gas, which was called Zyklon–B. This type of gas was manufactured by a pest–control company. Medical experiments were done on many of the prisoners of the concentration camp, but mostly on twins, and dwarfs. The main medical doctor that conducted these experiments was Joseph Mengel who was also known as the "Angle of death." The main types of medical experiments dealt with freezing/hypothermia, genetics, infectious diseases, interrogation, torture, genocide, high altitude, pharmacological, sterilization, surgery, and traumatic injuries. Freezing/hypothermia were conducted by the Nazi high command to simulate what the armies suffered on the Eastern Front. The experiments were divided into two parts. • 28. Josef Mengele Essay Josef Mengele Josef Mengele was the oldest of three sons born to Karl and Walburga Mengele in the village of Gunzburg. Karl was a local industrialist who owned a plant that manufactured farming equipment. He was known as a stern but fair employer and a hard worker. It was his wife Walburga, however, whom his employees feared the most. A big woman with a terrible temper, she was often known to walk the floor of her husband's factory and publicly tell off employees for being lazy and poor workmanship. Warnings were hurriedly passed down the production line whenever Walburga was seen walking towards the factory, and workers purposely avoided her to get away from her wicked temper. Walburga ruled her home with an equal amount of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peers and adults both greeted him as "Beppo," a kind nickname for the young boy. • 29. Josef Mengele Case The struggle to convict Mengele went on year after year. Ten years after the war ended, Mengele's case was finally open, and by that time Memgele must have felt safe as he was residing under his own name (Wiesenthal 43). Mengele would move for remote farm all around South American to avoid the gun at his back (Tony). Mengele was living in Paraguay, enough money from his family's factories to live a comfortable life, but Paraguay would not extradite him as they said he was a Paraguay citizen with "no criminal record" (Wiesenthal 43). • 30. Eduard Wirths As A Doctor During World War II, death, experimentation, and being a Jewish person was a fear that all people had to worry about in Nazi Germany from 1939 to 1945; particularly in concentration camps. Eduard Wirths was both a hero and an anti–hero towards his patients, depending on what stance a person takes. Wirths was known to have a sympathetic side to him that was a saving grace for many. However, the experimentation he allowed patients to suffer through in order to gain success for his own research is what makes him a criminal Nazi doctor. As the lead SS doctor for Auschwitz, Eduard Wirths' main duty was to oversee all that went on within the camps, and he approved work done by others such as Joseph Mengele. Eduard Wirths was a dedicated party member, a competent physician, and a renowned Auschwitz enemy. Eduard Wirths was a conscientious doctor with a confused set of morals that may have been a lot more caring than an SS doctor should have been. Growing up, Eduard Wirths' family was Catholic and had a strong set of democratic socialist values. • 31. Josef Mengele : The Angel Of Death Essay Josef Mengele, known to many as the Angel of Death, was one of the most infamous doctors in the Holocaust. Born to a German, upper class, devout Catholic family in 1911, Mengele began feeling a sense of social, religious and racial superiority at an incredibly young age (ushmm.org). In 1931, he joined a nationalistic veteran's organization and began growing incredibly fascinated by the Nazi regime; reinforcing his already established framework of personal supremacy. At this early stage, the path to infamy and finding power, superiority and control was starting to be paved. He joined the SS in 1938, was drafted into the army in 1940, and began his studies in anthropology and racial morphology around the exact same time; a deadly combination (ushmm.org). His fascination with the Nazi party, a potential meeting with Hitler himself and his newly established spot in the SS and military all seemed to drive his intellectual choices and studies (Lifton, 2014, p. 339). He figured out a way to perfectly weave together his interest in the Nazi's ideals of anti–Semitism, his need for striving for personal power and control, and his studies on racial dominance, all of which lead him to Auschwitz where his real infamy began and would ultimately end. Mengele may have not been born with the goal of becoming powerful by ultimately being responsible for the death of an estimated 400,000 people in the Holocaust and for his inhumane medical experiments in Auschwitz, but his acquired and ... As the night approaches, soft breezes change the snow's direction from time to time. The wind slowly gets more powerful with every gust making it evident that the storm is entering its infant stage. The doors and shutters get buffeted ferociously as their henges scream in agony trying to hold on. While looking through the window, a nearby tree succumbs to the straining and splits with a loud crashing noise. The storm continues to maintain its power after the initial impact. In addition, the storm becomes too dangerous to witness, causing every being in the cabin to search for cover. The next morning, the sun rises through a light and gentle snow. "Right, left", what kind of a man could send people to their death with a flick of a cane, without one scent of remorse or one inkling of guilt? –his name was Josef Mengele. Mengele's experiment he often practiced was called Heterochromia. That was the creation of which an individual's irises differ in coloration. In attempts to fabricate blue eyes, drops or injections of chemicals would be put in the eyes. This often caused severe pain, infections, and temporary or permanent blindness. The reasoning for changing the prisoners eye color and most blood transfusion experiments was to raise the Aryan birthrate (Pomeroy). According to sahistory.org, another one of Mengele's experiments were the mass sterilization of the Jews, Roma, and other prisoners that were not German. Hitler argued that the German (he wrongly described them as the Aryan race) was superior to all others . Hitler was obsessed with 'racial purity'. He used the word 'Aryan' to describe his idea of a 'pure German race' or Herrenvolk. The Nazis believed that the Aryans had the most "pure blood" of all the people on earth. The ideal Aryan had pale skin, blond hair and blue eyes. The 'Aryan race' had a duty to control the world (Britannica 1). The experiments that mengele performed were horrifying. Even if they were not as famous as the main experiments he did they still were brutal. Experiments involved injections of lethal germs like chloroform causing instant death, sex change operations, human bodies sewn to another human body to create siamese twins, removal of organs and limbs, and blood ... • 36. Victoria Anderson The Angel of Death We have all heard about the tragedy of the Holocaust. Horrendous, atrocious, brutal. These are all words that are used to describe the endless suffering of the Jewish people. But what not many people know of are the dark and sinister scientists that were behind a lot of this genocide. Thousands of people, murdered. Not the citizens that were plastered on the headlines of every Newspaper, but the victims who suffered in silence. The innocent people that were tortured, degraded, and experimented on by one man: Dr. Josef Mengele. This man, or monster, rather, was no striking character in the beginning. Living his early life as the average–Joe, and the rest of it a criminal, he is raw proof that science, the beauty it is, can be used in the ugliest manner. Josef Mengele, born on March 16, 1911, was an ordinary man. Josef was the oldest brother of 3, and the son of Karl Mengele, who, as stated in Posner & Ware's novel Mengele: The Complete Story, founded a company, Karl Mengele and Sons that produced farming utensils. Just like many of today's high school students, he studied hard and fell in love with the arts. Graduating in 1930, he was accepted to the University of Munich to study medicine (4–7). At the young age of 24, Mengele had achieved a Ph.D. in Physical Anthropology. • 38. Night Reflection Paper The Holocaust, lasting from 1933 to 1945, was a period of time when German Nazis sent Jews, Gypsies, and others ostracized by the Nazis to concentration camps. They were sent to die, and in turn the prisoners got their identity stripped from them. Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust was 15 when his town was relocated to the camp Auschwitz. For 11 months, Elie moved from one camp to the next, escaping Death with the skin of his teeth each time. After being liberated in April 1945, Elie went on to write books about his experience, and to even win a Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. In Elie's book Night, he writes about his identity being stripped from himself by the SS officers working in the concentration camps. Right from the first few days at camp, Elie witnessed how SS officers decided who got to live and die merely by the smallest discrepancy in their posture, whether it was a quivering finger on the trigger, or the brisk flick of a baton, telling prisoners which side of a forked path to follow; one leading to the crematorium. With his father, Elie met Dr. Mengele at the center of a crossroad; "he was holding a conductor's baton and was surrounded by officers. The baton was moving constantly, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left" (Wiesel 31). Dr. Mengele got to choose life or death of the prisoners merely by his own preference, making the prisoners seem nothing more than play–pretend dolls or wide–eyed pigs on their way to the slaughterhouse.
