Most Important Things I Learned In Algebra A
This week in P.E. we learned about nothing because its P.E. and all we really do is exercise and play
games on certain days and just run two laps on fridays. The most important thing I learned in P.E. is
to not be in last place when u running laps and try your best to come in first or the top three because
I think coach writes things about how we perform in the exercise and then it effects are grades if we
don't run hard or try to cheat , for an example during the push–ups or sit–ups during the exercise,
also not changing can effect your grade. This week in Algebra A we learned a lot of things because
we had to get a lot of things done and go over a lot of things. The most important thing I learned in
Algebra A is that not to talk in class

Family Is The Most Important Things
We do not choose the family with whom we grew up, it is predetermined for us by God. People
often say that the most important things in life are the things God gives us for free: life, love and
family. Our family is the people that were put in our lives by God because He thought them to be
essential for us. As humans we like to be accepted, feel that we belong somewhere and are loved.
All those things, we get from family. Is it therefore ever an option to give up on one's family? The
definition of family is different for everyone; it can vary based on how or where one was raised. As
Americans we often associate family as our "immediate family," the people with whom we grew up.
Which mainly consists of our siblings, parents and sometimes we might even include our pets if we
have grown up with them! As we get older and create a family of our own our definition of family
includes primarily our spouse and children. In South America, and other areas, "family" can be a
pretty broad term. Not only does it combine immediate family, but will often include cousins,
grandparents, friends, family friends, friend's family. Although people from the United States and
South America have very different definitions of whom they consider to be a part of family, the base
of the definition is the same. They are people with whom we feel the closest bond and care for the
most. In Homer's book 'The Odyssey', family is not made out to have a concrete definition. One can

5 Important Things For Dark Hair
5 Important Things for Dark–Haired clients to know about going Blonde: It Takes Time, Let me
Explain. These 5 tips could benefit you if you have dark hair and want to go blonde. This can
explain the hair coloring process so you will be ready when you sit in the chair. 1.It Does not
Happen Over Night Women with black or dark brown hair color should understand going from the
dark levels of hair color to a light blonde color and especially platinum that it can and most times
does take several sessions to do so. Colorists sometimes have to cut through existing box color with
lightener while maintaining the integrity of their clients hair. So if your colorist does not reach your
target hair color goal, do not fear! Trust the process, you will ... Show more content on

It is important for you to block out enough time in your day to relax and enjoy. Do not make the
mistake of booking yourself up afterward as it is up to the discretion of your colorist on how long
you will be in the chair. You do not want to stop the lightening process after it has started because
you have something to do. 3. You may not be completely happy with the color in between sessions–
Like I had said before because it could take 1–2 0r even 3 sessions to achieve your goal you must
learn to be patient in between appointments. Your colorist is trained to make sure you leave after
each session with a toned color you can rock until you reach the beautiful blonde tresses you adore!
4. You should agree to a healthy trim after your color sessions– It would really benefit the client to a
trim after sessions to keep hair healthy. The lightening process is no joke as bleach is used on most
double processed color jobs. This can leave your hair brittle, dry and damaged. To ensure a beautiful
bouncy, shiny head of hair getting a trim with a good protein and moisture treatment will leave you
with non–compromised

The Most Important Thing I Learned
Stories in Action
As a leader I feel I learn best from doing, experiencing and living my story. I'm going to own up to
not being a great storyteller upfront. I make mistakes and I try things that don't work. However, the
experience itself is valuable for the bigger picture of the person I'm becoming. The most important
thing I've learned in these two modules is that as leaders we need to have the desire to be storytellers
and actively practice the skills we are learning. So, I will do that a great deal in this essay, practice
that is. It is through telling stories that we build skill and become more effective at using this
technique as a form of creative leadership.
Stories play an integral part in the foundation of a leader. They allow a ... Show more content on

For example, I lead a service unit that relies heavily on the operations unit of the organization to get
things right. So in my "who I am" (Simmons, 2006, p.8) story there is value in me sharing that for
the last 10 years I led operations. That I understand there are challenges to getting things right and
the plan that they are working towards to continue to improve performance. They will find value in
knowing that I have many good relationships with the leaders in operations and intend to keep them
informed on the issues that impact us and ask for their partnership to get them resolved.
In my "why I am here" (Simmons, 2006, p.12) story I begin to dig a little deeper into my
motivation. I could say something entertaining like my daughter needs to go to college someday so I
need to work. While relatable, it makes it seem like I'm only here for a paycheck. When in reality, I
love to work with our customers. I love to help people make the most of the health insurance they
purchase. I learned first handed two years ago when my ten year old daughter was diagnosed with
diabetes mellitus type 1 how much people rely on their health insurance. Each month as I fill her 9
prescriptions totaling thousands of dollar, that we rely on to keep her alive and healthy, I'm grateful.
The list of those who I'm grateful for is very long these days but at the top are the great

Important Quotes From The Things They Carried
What would you learn, push–yourself to be, or talk to someone about when you come to face the
instance of war? This is one of the many questions main character, Tim O'Brien, thought about
before he faced one of his biggest fears. From reading this book, Tim O'Brien learned a lot about
himself through interactions with other characters, which helped the readers understand an overall
theme. Over the course of the novel The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, Tim O'Brien
becomes a stronger man, learns life lessons from his close interactions, and teaches readers the
importance of love and friendship. At the beginning, Tim's main goal is to convince himself to man–

Tim learned and never forgot about his first love and friend, Linda. He was very young and didn't
know what love is, but he felt like it was real and meaningful to him. For instance, in this quote Tom
remember Linda and the impact she had on him. "A nine–year–old girl, just a kid, and yet there was
something ageless in her eyes–not a child, not an adult–just a bright ongoing evenness, that same
pinprick of absolute lasting light that I see today in my own eyes as Timmy smiles nd Tim from the
graying photographs of that time"(pg.225). From just a small instance in his life, Tim taught the
readers that the littlest things can bring you love and joy. Two young and naive children fell in love.
Tim took her life and relationship to heart and gave him a better understanding of the true meaning
of love. All of Tim's fellow soldiers and friends helped him learn new things about building a strong
friend relationship. He talked to and learned new things about new people everyday. From his war
experience, he was able to understand the importance of friendship. In this quote, it's reflected on
how his friends treated the people that he saw and how he noticed a change in his self. "He might
give a curt little nod. Or he might not. He might just shrug and saw, Carry on, then they would

Important Quotes From The Things They Carried
Tim O'Brien's novel The Things They Carried tells a story of how war can change a person. It shows
the struggle to overcome sadness (about death) and the struggle to deal with death; it shows the
human side of war. This story gives strong feeling of love, hate, guilt, etc. and allows the reader to
deeply understand the character. Tim O'Brien allows the audience to feel this feeling of love, hate,
guilt, etc. better by writing this book as fiction.
(in a true way) O'Brien's choice to write his novel as fiction does leave the reader asking a lot of
questions, but this (type of writing or art) allows him to more (in a way that's close to the truth or
true number) bring across the feeling of love, hate, guilt, etc. behind the stories. Fiction give the
author room to make the story whatever the author want it's to be. Whether this is ... Show more

In the chapter "Good Form," O'Brien uses the (two separate things are both true, but this seems
impossible), "story–truth is truer sometimes than happening–truth." This statement is backed up by
the interview O'Brien gave, in which he says, "Fiction is for getting at the truth when the truth isn't
(good) enough for the truth." He goes on to explain how the stories in the book that are not true are
true in a sense, in the sense that the feelings that are given in the book were real just not in the same
big picture. For example, O'Brien says in his interview, "I was certainly on that rainy river, trying to
decide what to do... the story is still true, even though on one level it's not." This is an example of
one of the section that was not true. He was never really on the rainy river, he never stayed at the tip
top lodge, and there was no Elroy Berdahl,

What Is The Most Important Things In My Life
My Personal Mission Statement
Five Most Important Things In My Life Five of the most important things in my life are my family
and friends, my phone, my planner and the supplies it comes with, music, and my religion and faith.
Firstly, one of the most important things in my life are my family and friends because they were
always there at my best and worst and I know no matter what, I can always depend on them.
Secondly, my phone is one of the most important things in my life because it holds all my memories
and my thoughts within it. Also, it helps me stay connected to the world around me and helps me
stay in contact with my friends. Another important thing in my life is my planner and the supplies it
comes with because I'm a very controlling person and I like to control everything that happens in
my life, therefore with my planner it makes me feel organized and in control of my life.
Additionally, music is also an important thing in my life. Often when I am in a bad mood I always

to adjust to new conditions. Finally, another skill I have is learning to manage my time. When I was

Seventh Most Important Thing Comparison
In the book "The Seventh Most Important Thing" and the movie "Up", are very similar and different
in many aspects. One of the similarities is two of the main characters are males. Arthur Owens
("The Seventh Most Important Thing") and Russell ("Up") are more different than similar in many
ways. .
The similarities between Arthur and and Russell begin with the fact that they do not have fathers.
Arthur's father died in a motorcycle crash while he was drunk. In the movie when Russell was
getting his Wilderness Explorer Badge all the other kids had thier fathers with them and Russell did
not, so Mr. Fredrickson put on the badge for him with Russell's mother sitting in the front row.
Another similarity between the two boys is that they both had to help elderly people. Russell had to
help Mr. Fredrickson to get his "Assisting the Elderly" badge and Arthur threw a brick at Mr.
Hampton and as probation he has to do 120 hours of service for him. A next similarity is that they
both are/were in Cub Scouts. In the story Arthur recalls making a pinewood derby car with his dad

meanwhile Russell has not and based on his character he probably never will. Another reason they
are different is thier ages. Arthur is in seventh grade so he is most likely 12 or 13 while Russell is 8
years old because in part of the movie he said he was 8. Another reason Arthur and Russell are very
different is Arthur does not have a pet though in the book he said he wanted one and Russell has
Doug the Dog who he got when Russell and Mr. Fredrickson went to Paradise Falls. The very last
reason they are different is Russell has almost died on several occasions throughout the book while
there are no reported occasions for

Important Things To Put In A Time Capsule
People feel uncomfortable when the world changes, but if it is welcomed or not the world will
always keep moving. Such as when the internet was invented people had to adapt to a different form
of interaction and research via technology. That is why time capsules were made to hold tangible
memories of the past before the change happened. For example old newspapers, movies, and letters
can be stored in a time capsule. This makes it so Humans can get their hands on a little bit of history.
The three most important objects to put in a time capsule is a book, a PS4, and a American football.
Books have been around since the 1450s and have heavily impacted our society. They hold valuable
information and stories within their thin paper pages. A

Important Quotes From The Things They Carried
Tim O'Brien, the narrator and author in The Things They Carried, used a very useful skill in writing.
Tim would twist ideas and put fiction and nonfiction events in the book to make a clear statement
and express his thoughts and details to the readers. One of the many important messages in the text
was to assume responsibility in the actions you did. I got my thesis by thinking and looking back on
how he used his words and how Tim expressed his feelings through many different scenarios. Now,
I will share to all of you my thoughts. Tim O'Brien expressed his thoughts and details to his readers
in a variety of different ways. There were many different ways he did this. One of the things he did
was twist things in the story to make it prove a point or to show emotion, ... Show more content on

"' A hallucination, I suppose, but it was as real as anything I would ever feel. I saw my parents
calling to me from the far shoreline"' (O'Brien 55). Tim does say that he was on the Rainy River, but
did he really hallucinate? No, he probably didn't, but it was added in to express what he felt like at
the time and he puts you in his shoes to make it seem like you are right there next to him. Another
example and one of the more important examples is Tim showing responsibility for actions he did.
Tim mentioned in his Chester Fritz Auditorium talk that "I can take responsibility for that guys'
death." Tim is referring back to the soldier he killed in Vietnam. In the story The Man I Killed, Tim
shares what his emotions were like and what the boy looked like in fine detail. "'He lay face–up in
the center of the trail, a slim, dead, almost dainty young man. He had bony legs, a narrow waist,
long shapely fingers. His chest was sunken and poorly muscled –– a scholar, maybe. His wrists were
the wrists of a child"' (O'Brien 118). In this quote he makes you envision the boy and what he
looked like when he was laying there. Tim also reflects on the man's

Winning Isnt The Most Important Thing Essay
Winning Isn't The Most Important Thing      Vince Lombardi's
famous saying "Winning isn't the most important thing. It's the only thing" is unfortunately the
motto of too many athletes today.      Although winning is
important and sports are, and should be taken seriously, by far, winning isn't the only thing. Putting
everything you have and giving one hundred percent to the effort is also very important to
competition. A team that puts everything they have into a game and comes out the losers, has a lot
more to be proud of than a team who comes in first but only gave some effort. Over the years many
teams have lost important games due to a few inches, one pitch or a strike of "bad ... Show more

Trophies and plaques were to be awarded to the first, second and third place runners. A 10K is a 6.2

running in the 10K have to show tremendous determination, stamina, speed and physical agility not
to mention surviving in grueling temperatures and humidity. Great Olympic and Boston Marathon
runners have dropped out of a 10K due to it's intense strain. I was on hand to witness the race and
saw many great athletes finish the race with great times. These are runners who put every day into
running and run every race. Soon after these runners had crossed the finish line and been handed
their trophies, the last runner in the race came through the finish line with his hands in the air and to
thunderous applause. He was 87 years old, and had taken up the sport after his doctors told him he
had a cholesterol problem when he was 67.      The runner in this
story was not out to win the Mayor's Cup 10K, he wasn't out to set a record time or come in first. He
came in dead last, but finished the race. If he would have listened to Vince Lombardi and say "Oh, I
can't win, their are professional runners from colleges and high schools competing against me!" he
wouldn't have completed his life long goal of running in a 10K. Better late than never.

To illustrate, it is very important that I try and better this world. When I complete my schooling for
architecture, one of my biggest goals is to design and ultimately construct buildings that are
"greener" as they say, meaning that require less energy and produce less, or no emissions. Powering

Education Is The Most Important Thing
Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.
Values in life are what people live for everyday. Having values gives them passion, motivation, and
happiness in the things they do. Everyday America wakes up looking forward towards something
that they love to do. A student at Fort Dodge Senior High values education and freedom. Education
to her is a huge value in life, she loves attending school. When she is asked why she values
education she will say, " Education is the most important thing in life. Without education we would
not be able to help others and teach them what is right and what is wrong." Education is a value she
will always have. The young girl realizes that many do not have the choice of education and she
wants that to change. Because of education, she is very smart, mature, and hard working. Education
has motivated her to become a teacher when her near future hits. Teachers are idols to her as for
many other teens, idols are singers, actors, or athletes. Growing up, she loved school, she was
always one of the smartest in her class. Reading was one of her favorite things to do. The young girl
would pretend to teach her little brother in the basement when he was about three years old. This

Important Things To Make Up

women are using all manner of solutions from creams to shaving, from tweezers to hair trimmers, in
order to remove unnecessary hair. One such type of hair trimmer easily and quickly removes hair
from the nose.
So, before purchasing one for yourself, consider just a few things that are important to keep in mind,
which broadly include type, safety, and proper light. Following these few essential tips will provide
you with the necessary information needed when about to buy a nose hair trimmer:

Obviously nobody wants the hair to stay inside his or her nose, as some hair remains in the nose,
even after it's been trimmed. A nose hair trimmer that comes with an in–built vacuum removes the
complete hair at the time that you are trimming.
Blade: The material utilized to make the blades is another aspect to take into account. Generally
speaking, there are three different types of materials that are used to make the blades. These are
stainless steel, platinum, and titanium. Platinum retains the sharpness of the blade much longer time
than stainless steel or titanium, but blades made of titanium have the advantage of keeping them
resistant to water or rust.
Style: The style of the nose trimmer is the final and most important aspect to think about when
purchasing a nose hair trimmer. The standard designs of vacuum hair trimmers are generally vertical
and straight. However, those that come in an angular design are more in use today. These style of
vacuum hair trimmer are much more in use because they provide a better angle and hold which
helps to safely trim and remove the hair.

Clarify The Most Important Things To Do List
There will always be more items on your to–do list than you can ever complete. You don't have
infinite time or resources. It's frustrating and stressful, but you just have to admit it's simply not
possible do everything you'd like to in the time you have. Prioritizing is the only solution.
If you don't consciously set priorities, you let whatever comes up determine how you'll spend your
time. You can work very hard without accomplishing much that's important. Setting priorities forces
you to evaluate each item on your task list and make a conscious, thoughtful decision about what's
the best thing to do. By clarifying your priorities you'll actually accomplish more in less time. You'll
work smarter instead of harder.
There's a well–known concept that supports this, called the Pareto Principle or the 80/20 Rule. The
general idea is that 80 percent of our results come from 20 percent of our efforts; 80 percent of our
income comes from 20 percent of our clients, etc. In countless ways, most of what we do each day
has little impact on our lives and a few things have major impact. Therefore, you want to focus 80
percent of your attention on the 20 percent of things that make a difference. The trick is to identify
the most important 20 percent that should be your priorities! ... Show more content on

the other hand does not want to be reminded of her late husband. She tries to get rid of everything as
best as she can. Pearsall also hits the nail on the head while writing Arthur's personality. Arthur is

The Seventh Most Important Thing Essay
The Seventh Most Important Thing
Diego Villada–Youel
In The seventh most important thing by Shelley Pearsall, Arthur T.Owens throws a brick at a local
man that collects rubbish. Arthur and his sister always call him junk man, although they would later
find out that his name is actually James hampton. After getting out of juvie, arthur has a long nerve
wracking time in court to decide his punishment for throwing a brick at junk man. Instead of being
sentenced to more time in juvie, junk man offers an alternative, he is sentenced to one hundred
twenty hours of community service... working for him. He would pay off those hours every
Saturday. " One kid. One crime. One chance to make things right." Arthur was given an address that
he had to show up to, too work on his probation, but he had much difficulty finding it. After hours
of searching Arthur goes to the nearest address to the one he was given and that address was a tattoo

didn't even get to have his locker with all the other seventh graders. His locker was moved to the

can. Arthur wouldn't have thought anything of it until he saw a head in the can. Arthur ran towards
the basketball players yelling and ready to fight, when they noticed him charging at them they
moved quickly. Arthur found a small kid his age in the can, helps him out. Arthur d gnized the kid as
Squeak. Later, at lunch Squeak sat next to arthur but arthur told him not to. Squeak ignored him and
unpacked his lunch, that's when arthur noticed that everything squeak had was covered in tinfoil, the

Important Things To Learn In The Classroom
It was a pleasure, Ms. Webster, watching you and your students work in the classroom. It is evident
to me that you love what you do, and you are passionate about learning. I saw many positives that
you do in the classroom and the effort that you put into your lessons shows. I would like to discuss
with you the things I saw while I was observing you in the classroom. As educators, we strive for
continuous improvement, and there are always things we can do in the classroom to improve our
instruction. I am going to list some of the things that showcase your strengths as an educator, and
some ideas that you may want to implement in your classroom. As a colleague, it is about the two of
us collaborating, and working together to improve the learning environments for our children. The
first thing I observed in your classroom was how the tables are arranged. You have made your room
a collaborative classroom where students can learn from one another. Furthermore, students are
engaged, and using their critical thinking skills and that is what an accomplished wants to do with
her students. When you look at the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and look at
core proposition three, accomplished teachers know how to engage students in a variety of group
configurations (NBPTS, n.d.). I enjoy seeing students sitting together, and all of them engaged in
the learning process. I thought you did an excellent job of facilitating and asking the right questions

Life Essay : Important Things In Life
Important Things In Life During life certain emotions are expressed and the importance of them can
determine whether life is short so, you must be thankful for everything you have and thank God, for
every breath you take. I believe my faith has helped me grow into the person xI am today. As long
as I have family, God and self–respect I believe I will have a great life. My household is small but
my family is big, from each side of the tree I have Love, Kindness, Support, wisdom, and security.
People who are important to me, I value their opinion, strive to make them proud, and have the best
memories with. "Ohana means family and Family means no one gets left behind." (Lelo and Stitch)
Those who will stand by me regardless of my decisions in life good or bad. Whatever challenges
God has inspired for us we experience those difficulties together. They stand by me through various
challenges in life. Supporting everyone's dreams and goals throughout life. While we have our
disagreements, arguments, and fights we love to joke around and have a good time. Protecting each
other from the bad. My family has Protected me guided me in the correct direction and provided for
my day– to– day needs. Growing up we supported each other in activities, being present during each

The Most Important Things In American History
Calvin Peterson 4/28/15 Top Five Most Important Things In American History My first choice that I
decided to choice for this essay was. The Revolutionary War, because it was really the first stride on
our way to gaining independence from the British government. We also showed our true strength
and that we would be able to compete and no one was going to take us down. Many soldiers died
fighting for our country and we beat the British and became truly free. Second on my list was the
not so great and memorable civil war. This was a very dark time in our country. Especially for the
many people and slaves living among it. The country we had just

Education Is The Most Important Thing
Throughout elementary or high school students have always been told that education is the most
important thing to gain in life. That education will help get students to places and to help them to
achieve their dreams and goals. That concept throughout our society in the United States is fading
away, leaving thousands of students into crippling debt that they will be paying throughout the
majority of their lives. Due to the rising amount of tuition students are often obligated to forget
about their education and start working off the bat when they graduate from high school. In 1987 the
cost of private school or universities the tuition average was around 13,000 thousand dollars and
public college tuition estimated at 3000 dollars. In comparison the tuition in 1987 and 2008 tuition
has increased over 439 percent. On the flipside families income has only increased 147 percent
since 1987, only the very wealthy will able to attend college without the fear of being neck deep
into debt. As in 2012 the average cost of higher education for students who enrolled into private
colleges has risen to 120,000 dollars. If the pattern continues and most likely it will, in 2028
students are predicted to pay tuition as high as 340,000 dollars if they do attend private schools. The
increasing tuition amount is having students pleading to banks to for loans. With all the students
loans the national student debt has reached over 1 trillion dollars in total. The national student debt

Important Quotes From The Things They Carried
The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien is a true war story. This book is very powerful and shows
many strong and thought compelling themes. It goes into great detail about war and puts many new
outlooks on what it take and what it can do to a person. One of his main themes that recurs in many
instances throughout this book is the view on death and violence from the perspective of war and
having been a soldier. Tim O'Brien gives us many examples of his thoughts and views on death by
explaining them through parables or stories that may not be completely true but can teach us exactly
what his outlook is on this certain topic. One of the the first examples that stood out to me as I read
this book to this point is in the chapter The Man I Killed. In this chapter O'Brien gives a scenario ...

This chapter has a lot of focus on a number of different themes in the book but the thing that i saw
had the largest impact in describing Tim's outlook on death and violence is when he talks about the
death of Curt Lemon. In the beginning of the chapter Rat is writing a letter to Curt's sister. Tim says
that it was a great letter and Rat couldn't write it without bawling his eyes out but in this letter it
describes that Curt was a great man and a great friend to many people. It helps to give us a picture
of the meaning that Curt had to everyone and gives a great value on his life and worth. By the end of
this chapter it tells about how he died. It describes that Rat and Curt were talking and walking by
this tree and Curt took a half step onto a booby trap and it blew him up into the tree that he was
standing by. Tim and Dave Jensen were ordered to go clean Curt off of the tree. Again we see an
instance of joking around about a close friend that has just died when Dave was singing "Lemon
Tree". This goes to show us again that war will take the value of life

The Most Important Thing I Learned
The military is comprised of leaders and followers: this concept of leadership is the foundation of
the military, leaders are the decision makers, and followers carry out their decisions. These decision
makers are the role models the followers have a great deal of respect for and should admire. A good
leader is decisive, has integrity, and leads by example. Being entrusted to lead, to mold the
individuals around you into a cohesive unit is a special opportunity and only a few in respects to the
total population are commissioned. General Colin L. Powell stated, "The most important thing I
learned is that soldiers watch what their leaders do. You can give them classes and lecture them
forever, but it is your personal example they will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After pinpointing the root of the problem, we will discuss both the validity and actions of those
whom gave the orders and those whom carried out the orders in My Lai. In the aftermath of the My
Lai massacre, twenty–six soldiers were brought up on felonious offenses, only one of which was
convicted, Lieutenant William Calley: who was Calley, and how was his influence cemented among
his men. Calley, a platoon leader in "Charlie" Company, Calley was tried and convicted of killing
twenty–two villagers. Initially in the investigation, Calley's evaluations portrayed him as "average";
however, as the investigation progressed a more negative light illuminated him. Soldiers in his
platoon soon entered reports saying Calley "lacked common sense and could not read a map nor a
compass properly" (Wilson). It was also reported that the men in Calley's platoon shared a common
dislike for him and sometimes secretly discussed fragging him. Despite the aversion his men felt
towards him, many of the platoon soldiers were reluctant to testify against Calley when the trial
began. Numerous troops exercised the Fifth Amendment and refused to answer questions on the
witness stand. As time passed briskly holdouts became sellouts, the first was a soldier in Calley's
unit named Paul Meadio. After being jailed for contempt of court, he agreed to testify. In his

Important Quotes From The Things They Carried
In The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, Rat, through his experiences, reveals that war makes it
difficult for people to stay true to themselves but it is important to do what they believe is right so
they don't destroy themselves. Rat learns this lesson when his best friend, Curt Lemon, gets blown
up by a grenade while they were messing around playing games. Rat is so devastated by his friends
death, that he starts to do things he wouldn't normally do. Tim says, "Later, higher in the mountains,
we came across a baby VC water buffalo... he stepped back and shot it through the right front knee"
(O'Brien 78). Rat was hurting from his friend's death and he decided to take his anger out on a baby
water buffalo that they came across. He knew how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is hard to judge him for this because only he can understand his actions because of what was
happening around him at the time. This reflects the theme of staying true to yourself because no one
told him to do that and no one encouraged it, but that is what he felt like he had to do to deal with
his emotions. After that incident, he wrote a letter to Curt's sister and poured his heart into it, but she
never replied. He wrote about all of his thoughts and feelings and about what a good man her
brother was and how much he loved him. His letter reflects the theme of staying true to himself
because he felt like it was the right thing to do, so he wrote her a letter and just told her all about
their friendship. He just wanted to talk to someone else who would understand how hurt he was
about his friend's death and how he was gone too soon. Towards the end of his time in the war, Rat
started to get paranoid because of all the trauma he's faced, between being a war medic and
watching his best friend die. For some people, it can get very difficult to stay true to yourself,
especially in times of war and

Analysis of Important Quotes in "The Things They Carried"
1. "In any war story, especially a true one, it's difficult to separate what happened from what seemed
to happen. What seems to happen becomes its own happening and has to be told the way. " (71)
Significance: This quote describes the entire style in which the book is written. Tim O' Brien writes
the novel as though it is a memoir, but this isn't the case. In the copyright information, readers learn
that most of the events, with a few small exceptions, were fabricated. Once the reader knows this
fact, there is bound to be a curiosity of which portions of the book are actually based on O' Brien's
life. This quote looks at the "fictional" Tim O'Brien's view of war stories. He says that memory
doesn't always serve a person well when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a Vietnam soldier, but that didn't change O'Brien's feelings about the situation. He still sees
himself as guilty for the death of the young men. Not only that, but he begins to imagine the back
story of the young man, which makes dealing with his killing even harder. 4. "Generalizing about
war is like generalizing about peace. Almost everything is true. Almost nothing is true." (81)
Significance: While O'Brien is saying that his personal belief is that generalizations cannot be made
about war, this idea is major throughout the entire novel. No generalizations can be made about any
situation in a war. Everyone will have a story from the war all their own. The book begins with a
great example of this, by listing all the things the men have brought with them and the reasons
behind this. Various chapters throughout the book document the way the soldiers are coping with the
horrors they're seeing. O'Brien used his writing. Kiowa had his bible and his religion. Bowker found
no way to cope that he could find on this planet. There is no one way to generalize the effects a war
will have on a person. 5. "I survived, but it's not a happy ending. I was a coward. I went to war."
(61) Significance: This quote is important for a number of reasons. First of all, at a very basic level,
this is what sets the whole story in motion. O'Brien was considering fleeing the country and not
participating in his supposed civic duty. However,

Family : The Most Important Thing In My Life
I believe that family is the most important thing in your life. Why you may ask ? Well I believe that
it's a part of you that is always gonna be there for you when times get tough. And it's never going to
make you feel like anything less. An Important event that happened in my life that happened that
connects back to the situation that I'm still going through now is that, One day me and my mother
had gotten into an argument because she was frustrated with me she didn't know what to do with me
because I wasn't doing well in school and I'm still not, But I'm trying though. So she didn't know
what else to but say hurtful words to me , it was the truth. Then I really found out the about the real
meaning of " The truth hurts" myself . But I could understand why she would just say such a thing
like that towards me because my family was already going through something. And I had just made
things worse, I pushed her to a point that she just couldn't take it anymore. But at the same time I
had so much hatred towards her I was so mad . I thought to myself maybe I was just a mistake,
maybe I would have been better off with another family or maybe I would have made my mother's
life better by me not just being born. Their was so many things going through my mind. I had felt so
awful because I felt like I was the reason why I kept her from achieving her dreams. I knew I
couldn't stay in the house for one minute.
What did I do you ask? Well I ran away. I ran away from my

Essay On The Most Important Things Of America
Top Ten Important Things of US History Allie Rose History 101 Professor Jahnel
Monday/Wednesday 12:30 – 1:50 Intro If you look at the collective and successful way that
America is today, it didn't get that way overnight. The multiple causes and effects that created the
America that we know today are too many to count, and single thing that happened in our early
developmental stages could have some impact, no matter how small, on our country, but these next
ten are what I deem the most important. From influential people, to crucial acts and laws, to abstract
ideals, these are the things that helped to shape America into what it is today. Growing tobacco in
Jamestown In the early 1600s England's monarchs and churches approved a journey to North
America in hopes it would bring them profits. The Virginia Company went out to please their
country and find the riches of the land. Their job was to "dig gold, ... Show more content on

Although it caused much hate during the times of frequent immigration, the people who moved here
then created a great world for us now. With their ideas and cultures we were able to come together
and learn to embrace each other and live in the mixed culture we have today. This time helped
America grow into a larger country and saved many people from oppression and homelessness. Due
to immigration we received a lot of brilliant immigrants who helped advance not only our
population but our country and inventions. Conclusion While these topics just skim the top of
America's triumphs and current condition, they certainly did help us to get here. From early America
feminism ideals to the Declaration of Independence, every little thing impacted America in it's own
way, and we would not be the people or the country we are today without them. Our economy, our
social statuses, and our current laws were all effected by these topics, and we should be glad that we

Health Is The Most Important Thing
Health is the most important thing is this world. Throughout the world one topic that is constantly

Sierra Leone. In Sierra a human is not expected to live past the age 46 according to the World
Health Organization. One of the reason why the life expectancy is so low is because due to wars that
made the economy demolish carrying down the health car system. The people in Sierra do not have

This is a problem because 55.3 die each year total so that means non–contagious diseases total of 65
percent of all deaths throughout the world. These non–contagious diseases can include things such
as cardiovascular diseases, different types of cancers, respiratory diseases, and diabetes.
Cardiovascular diseases account for most of the non–contagious diseases at a total of 17.5 million
people a year. Cardiovascular disease can include many different problems; one of the more
common ones is called atherosclerosis, which is the build up of plaque in the walls of the arteries.
Once this plaque builds up it will make it difficult for blood to flow through the arteries and can lead
to things such as heart attack, or ischemic stroke. These diseases are life threating and even if the
victim does survive the procedures they will be faced with life style changes including medications
on the daily and not being able to do daily task. Cancers are probably on of the most sympathetic
diseases due to the fact that there is no known true cure to it. The current death toll of cancer deaths
throughout the world is at 8.2 million annually. There are many different types of cancer while some
can be prevented most are fatal. The current worst form of cance is lung or bronchial cancer which
is at a 792,000 deaths. Smoking and the use of fifferent tabacco products are the leading cause for it.

A Syllabus: The Four Important Things To Remember
A syllabus is the sheet(s) of paper you get from your college professor on the first day of school.
The paper you reference when you need to recall what day the first essay was due. One thing I find
commonly misconceived about a syllabus is how beneficial they are. Most professors do not want to
spend their last few days of summer writing a syllabus for us. But they do it because they want us to
succeed.
For this particular class, I found the syllabus to be very informative. From the syllabus, I concluded
that there are four crucial things to remember. The first thing to remember is that all assignments (no
matter what kind) are due at the beginning of the class period unless there is an emergency. The next
important thing to remember is that

Love Is An Important Thing
Love is an important thing in our life. Without love there is no reason to be a good person. Every
person needs love in their life, no matter how beautiful, handsome, or strong they are. Love is
always patient, kind, loyal, faithful, and true. Those who know about it, in their life, they can always
get peace and joy, but those who don't know the meaning of love, their life's might be messed up.
There are many different ways to love people. It can be between parents and children, friends,
relatives, boy and girl, and God and people. Christian people believe that God loves everyone
equally. Here we can find the love of God from the bible. This is how God showed his love to the
world. 1 John 4:9–12 "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only
Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God
but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us,
we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in
us and his love is perfected in us." What this means is, we were in sin, so God sent his only son
(Jesus Christ) in this world to take our sin from us and to show us the right path. He preached and
did many miracles in people 's lives. At the end, Jesus had to die for us the cross to take our sin from
us. The bible doesn't say that Jesus paid a propitiation, but that he is a propitiation for our sins (Rom

When Learning Is An Important Thing
Spoon Feeding
Learning is an important thing in life, no one can promote to the next level with out learning. Now a
days learning should be improved in multi ways, since that everything in the life is based on the
learning, education and experience. Learning can be found mostly at school, where the students
learn from their teachers. But unfortunately sometimes schools conduct the learning or education in
a way that doesn't help the students to use their ideas and abilities. And this learning named as
''dependent learning'' or "Spoon–feeding".
Spoon feeding mean that you are giving or teaching an important information to someone without
letting them find the information they wants themselves. People in general, especially students, like
to have all the information they need for them to pass the exam with high grades. Spoon–feeding in
general can be in any field not only educational part but it's the most common situation. This
strategy can harm the students because it will not give them a chance to learn and think and thinking
is a part of learning. People learn when they put effort and try to think by their own even if it is hard
at the beginning. Once students depend on someone else and share the same idea, they are not using
their abilities and they might have a unique or new idea no one has it. (Mohanan, 2000)

I love to help people make the most of the health insurance they

diabetes mellitus type 1 how much people rely on their health insurance. Each month as I fill her 9

What Was The Most Important Thing?
MANIC 10 Discussions
What was the most important thing in the reading?
"Most: Conger (1991) states from the recent attention that the subject of leadership has received, we
know that one critical role of effective leaders is to be skillful craftsmen of their organization's
mission. We also know that of equal importance is the ability to communicate their missions in ways
that generate great intrinsic appeal."
To be an effective leader I agree that one must be skillful and understands what the organizational
mission is. When working in a complex environment, one will have to navigate, negotiate, and learn
how to work in a matrix environment. Communication is key to ensure that all understand what the
mission, goals, and values of an organization are. Some may get distracted because of a shift in
priorities, but a leader must be able to accomplish tasks and do it effectively and efficiently.
What was something you agree with in the reading?
"Agree: Conger (1991) states to create a meaningful frame for an organizational mission, values and
beliefs are an essential component – especially those that reinforce commitment and provide
guidance for daily actions. Their selection is crucial since they are the mechanical guts that power
the vision's acceptance and accomplishment. By selecting and amplifying specific values and
beliefs, the leader further frames interpretations of events, problems, or issues as they relate to the
vision."

Most Important Things I Learned In Algebra A

  • 1. Most Important Things I Learned In Algebra A This week in P.E. we learned about nothing because its P.E. and all we really do is exercise and play games on certain days and just run two laps on fridays. The most important thing I learned in P.E. is to not be in last place when u running laps and try your best to come in first or the top three because I think coach writes things about how we perform in the exercise and then it effects are grades if we don't run hard or try to cheat , for an example during the push–ups or sit–ups during the exercise, also not changing can effect your grade. This week in Algebra A we learned a lot of things because we had to get a lot of things done and go over a lot of things. The most important thing I learned in Algebra A is that not to talk in class ... • 2. Family Is The Most Important Things We do not choose the family with whom we grew up, it is predetermined for us by God. People often say that the most important things in life are the things God gives us for free: life, love and family. Our family is the people that were put in our lives by God because He thought them to be essential for us. As humans we like to be accepted, feel that we belong somewhere and are loved. All those things, we get from family. Is it therefore ever an option to give up on one's family? The definition of family is different for everyone; it can vary based on how or where one was raised. As Americans we often associate family as our "immediate family," the people with whom we grew up. Which mainly consists of our siblings, parents and sometimes we might even include our pets if we have grown up with them! As we get older and create a family of our own our definition of family includes primarily our spouse and children. In South America, and other areas, "family" can be a pretty broad term. Not only does it combine immediate family, but will often include cousins, grandparents, friends, family friends, friend's family. Although people from the United States and South America have very different definitions of whom they consider to be a part of family, the base of the definition is the same. They are people with whom we feel the closest bond and care for the most. In Homer's book 'The Odyssey', family is not made out to have a concrete definition. One can argue ... • 3. 5 Important Things For Dark Hair 5 Important Things for Dark–Haired clients to know about going Blonde: It Takes Time, Let me Explain. These 5 tips could benefit you if you have dark hair and want to go blonde. This can explain the hair coloring process so you will be ready when you sit in the chair. 1.It Does not Happen Over Night Women with black or dark brown hair color should understand going from the dark levels of hair color to a light blonde color and especially platinum that it can and most times does take several sessions to do so. Colorists sometimes have to cut through existing box color with lightener while maintaining the integrity of their clients hair. So if your colorist does not reach your target hair color goal, do not fear! Trust the process, you will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important for you to block out enough time in your day to relax and enjoy. Do not make the mistake of booking yourself up afterward as it is up to the discretion of your colorist on how long you will be in the chair. You do not want to stop the lightening process after it has started because you have something to do. 3. You may not be completely happy with the color in between sessions– Like I had said before because it could take 1–2 0r even 3 sessions to achieve your goal you must learn to be patient in between appointments. Your colorist is trained to make sure you leave after each session with a toned color you can rock until you reach the beautiful blonde tresses you adore! 4. You should agree to a healthy trim after your color sessions– It would really benefit the client to a trim after sessions to keep hair healthy. The lightening process is no joke as bleach is used on most double processed color jobs. This can leave your hair brittle, dry and damaged. To ensure a beautiful bouncy, shiny head of hair getting a trim with a good protein and moisture treatment will leave you with non–compromised ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Most Important Thing I Learned Stories in Action As a leader I feel I learn best from doing, experiencing and living my story. I'm going to own up to not being a great storyteller upfront. I make mistakes and I try things that don't work. However, the experience itself is valuable for the bigger picture of the person I'm becoming. The most important thing I've learned in these two modules is that as leaders we need to have the desire to be storytellers and actively practice the skills we are learning. So, I will do that a great deal in this essay, practice that is. It is through telling stories that we build skill and become more effective at using this technique as a form of creative leadership. Stories play an integral part in the foundation of a leader. They allow a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, I lead a service unit that relies heavily on the operations unit of the organization to get things right. So in my "who I am" (Simmons, 2006, p.8) story there is value in me sharing that for the last 10 years I led operations. That I understand there are challenges to getting things right and the plan that they are working towards to continue to improve performance. They will find value in knowing that I have many good relationships with the leaders in operations and intend to keep them informed on the issues that impact us and ask for their partnership to get them resolved. In my "why I am here" (Simmons, 2006, p.12) story I begin to dig a little deeper into my motivation. I could say something entertaining like my daughter needs to go to college someday so I need to work. While relatable, it makes it seem like I'm only here for a paycheck. When in reality, I love to work with our customers. I love to help people make the most of the health insurance they purchase. I learned first handed two years ago when my ten year old daughter was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type 1 how much people rely on their health insurance. Each month as I fill her 9 prescriptions totaling thousands of dollar, that we rely on to keep her alive and healthy, I'm grateful. The list of those who I'm grateful for is very long these days but at the top are the great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Important Quotes From The Things They Carried What would you learn, push–yourself to be, or talk to someone about when you come to face the instance of war? This is one of the many questions main character, Tim O'Brien, thought about before he faced one of his biggest fears. From reading this book, Tim O'Brien learned a lot about himself through interactions with other characters, which helped the readers understand an overall theme. Over the course of the novel The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, Tim O'Brien becomes a stronger man, learns life lessons from his close interactions, and teaches readers the importance of love and friendship. At the beginning, Tim's main goal is to convince himself to man– up for the war that soon would change his life. Tim felt a lot of shame because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tim learned and never forgot about his first love and friend, Linda. He was very young and didn't know what love is, but he felt like it was real and meaningful to him. For instance, in this quote Tom remember Linda and the impact she had on him. "A nine–year–old girl, just a kid, and yet there was something ageless in her eyes–not a child, not an adult–just a bright ongoing evenness, that same pinprick of absolute lasting light that I see today in my own eyes as Timmy smiles nd Tim from the graying photographs of that time"(pg.225). From just a small instance in his life, Tim taught the readers that the littlest things can bring you love and joy. Two young and naive children fell in love. Tim took her life and relationship to heart and gave him a better understanding of the true meaning of love. All of Tim's fellow soldiers and friends helped him learn new things about building a strong friend relationship. He talked to and learned new things about new people everyday. From his war experience, he was able to understand the importance of friendship. In this quote, it's reflected on how his friends treated the people that he saw and how he noticed a change in his self. "He might give a curt little nod. Or he might not. • 6. Important Quotes From The Things They Carried Tim O'Brien's novel The Things They Carried tells a story of how war can change a person. It shows the struggle to overcome sadness (about death) and the struggle to deal with death; it shows the human side of war. This story gives strong feeling of love, hate, guilt, etc. and allows the reader to deeply understand the character. Tim O'Brien allows the audience to feel this feeling of love, hate, guilt, etc. better by writing this book as fiction. (in a true way) O'Brien's choice to write his novel as fiction does leave the reader asking a lot of questions, but this (type of writing or art) allows him to more (in a way that's close to the truth or true number) bring across the feeling of love, hate, guilt, etc. behind the stories. In the chapter "Good Form," O'Brien uses the (two separate things are both true, but this seems impossible), "story–truth is truer sometimes than happening–truth." This statement is backed up by the interview O'Brien gave, in which he says, "Fiction is for getting at the truth when the truth isn't (good) enough for the truth." He goes on to explain how the stories in the book that are not true are true in a sense, in the sense that the feelings that are given in the book were real just not in the same big picture. For example, O'Brien says in his interview, "I was certainly on that rainy river, trying to decide what to do... the story is still true, even though on one level it's not." This is an example of one of the section that was not true. He was never really on the rainy river, he never stayed at the tip top lodge, and there was no Elroy Berdahl, ... Of course it is not a normal thing to throw a brick at a random person, for no reason, although Arthur claimed in front of a judge and jury that the reason he threw the brick was not the color of his skin, but because of the hat that he was wearing. The judge then sentenced him to to 120 hours of working for James Hampton, the man he hit with a brick, while he recovered from his injuries. • 9. Seventh Most Important Thing Comparison In the book "The Seventh Most Important Thing" and the movie "Up", are very similar and different in many aspects. One of the similarities is two of the main characters are males. Arthur Owens ("The Seventh Most Important Thing") and Russell ("Up") are more different than similar in many ways. . The similarities between Arthur and and Russell begin with the fact that they do not have fathers. Arthur's father died in a motorcycle crash while he was drunk. In the movie when Russell was getting his Wilderness Explorer Badge all the other kids had thier fathers with them and Russell did not, so Mr. Fredrickson put on the badge for him with Russell's mother sitting in the front row. Another similarity between the two boys is that they both had to help elderly people. Russell had to help Mr. Fredrickson to get his "Assisting the Elderly" badge and Arthur threw a brick at Mr. Hampton and as probation he has to do 120 hours of service for him. A next similarity is that they both are/were in Cub Scouts. In the story Arthur recalls making a pinewood derby car with his dad and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason Arthur and Russell are very different is Arthur does not have a pet though in the book he said he wanted one and Russell has Doug the Dog who he got when Russell and Mr. Fredrickson went to Paradise Falls. Such as when the internet was invented people had to adapt to a different form of interaction and research via technology. That is why time capsules were made to hold tangible memories of the past before the change happened. For example old newspapers, movies, and letters can be stored in a time capsule. This makes it so Humans can get their hands on a little bit of history. The three most important objects to put in a time capsule is a book, a PS4, and a American football. • 11. Important Quotes From The Things They Carried Tim O'Brien, the narrator and author in The Things They Carried, used a very useful skill in writing. Tim would twist ideas and put fiction and nonfiction events in the book to make a clear statement and express his thoughts and details to the readers. One of the many important messages in the text was to assume responsibility in the actions you did. I got my thesis by thinking and looking back on how he used his words and how Tim expressed his feelings through many different scenarios. Now, I will share to all of you my thoughts. Tim O'Brien expressed his thoughts and details to his readers in a variety of different ways. There were many different ways he did this. No, he probably didn't, but it was added in to express what he felt like at the time and he puts you in his shoes to make it seem like you are right there next to him. Another example and one of the more important examples is Tim showing responsibility for actions he did. Tim mentioned in his Chester Fritz Auditorium talk that "I can take responsibility for that guys' death." Tim is referring back to the soldier he killed in Vietnam. In the story The Man I Killed, Tim shares what his emotions were like and what the boy looked like in fine detail. "'He lay face–up in the center of the trail, a slim, dead, almost dainty young man. He had bony legs, a narrow waist, long shapely fingers. His chest was sunken and poorly muscled –– a scholar, maybe. His wrists were the wrists of a child"' (O'Brien 118). It's the only thing" is unfortunately the motto of too many athletes today.      Although winning is important and sports are, and should be taken seriously, by far, winning isn't the only thing. Putting everything you have and giving one hundred percent to the effort is also very important to competition. A team that puts everything they have into a game and comes out the losers, has a lot more to be proud of than a team who comes in first but only gave some effort. Great Olympic and Boston Marathon runners have dropped out of a 10K due to it's intense strain. I was on hand to witness the race and saw many great athletes finish the race with great times. • 18. Clarify The Most Important Things To Do List There will always be more items on your to–do list than you can ever complete. You don't have infinite time or resources. It's frustrating and stressful, but you just have to admit it's simply not possible do everything you'd like to in the time you have. Prioritizing is the only solution. If you don't consciously set priorities, you let whatever comes up determine how you'll spend your time. You can work very hard without accomplishing much that's important. Setting priorities forces you to evaluate each item on your task list and make a conscious, thoughtful decision about what's the best thing to do. By clarifying your priorities you'll actually accomplish more in less time. You'll work smarter instead of harder. There's a well–known concept that supports this, called the Pareto Principle or the 80/20 Rule. The general idea is that 80 percent of our results come from 20 percent of our efforts; 80 percent of our income comes from 20 percent of our clients, etc. In countless ways, most of what we do each day has little impact on our lives and a few things have major impact. Although Arthur claimed in front of a judge and jury that the reason he threw the brick was not the color of his skin, but because of the hat that he was wearing. The judge then sentenced him to 120 hours of working for James Hampton, the man hit with a brick, while he recovers from his injuries. Arthur goes through an adventure every Saturday. Pearsall also shows different methods of grieving process. Arthur is more closed out about his feelings of his father, but decides to keep everything he can to preserve the memory of his father. His mother on the other hand does not want to be reminded of her late husband. She tries to get rid of everything as best as she can. Pearsall also hits the nail on the head while writing Arthur's personality. Arthur is occasionally sarcastic, has a bit of a temper, but is a good kid overall. He stands up for others even though he knows it's going to have a negative impact on himself. For example, Arthur finished lunch early and decided to get his textbook so he doesn't receive a detention. He sees some older kids taunting a smaller boy in a trashcan. At first he minds his own business, but he later decides that he no longer wants to put up with them bullying the obviously defenseless boy. The older boys go to the office and report Arthur. That education will help get students to places and to help them to achieve their dreams and goals. That concept throughout our society in the United States is fading away, leaving thousands of students into crippling debt that they will be paying throughout the majority of their lives. Due to the rising amount of tuition students are often obligated to forget about their education and start working off the bat when they graduate from high school. In 1987 the cost of private school or universities the tuition average was around 13,000 thousand dollars and public college tuition estimated at 3000 dollars. In comparison the tuition in 1987 and 2008 tuition has increased over 439 percent. On the flipside families income has only increased 147 percent since 1987, only the very wealthy will able to attend college without the fear of being neck deep into debt. As in 2012 the average cost of higher education for students who enrolled into private colleges has risen to 120,000 dollars. If the pattern continues and most likely it will, in 2028 students are predicted to pay tuition as high as 340,000 dollars if they do attend private schools. It goes into great detail about war and puts many new outlooks on what it take and what it can do to a person. One of his main themes that recurs in many instances throughout this book is the view on death and violence from the perspective of war and having been a soldier. Tim O'Brien gives us many examples of his thoughts and views on death by explaining them through parables or stories that may not be completely true but can teach us exactly what his outlook is on this certain topic. Tim says that it was a great letter and Rat couldn't write it without bawling his eyes out but in this letter it describes that Curt was a great man and a great friend to many people. It helps to give us a picture of the meaning that Curt had to everyone and gives a great value on his life and worth. By the end of this chapter it tells about how he died. It describes that Rat and Curt were talking and walking by this tree and Curt took a half step onto a booby trap and it blew him up into the tree that he was standing by. Almost everything is true. Almost nothing is true." (81) Significance: While O'Brien is saying that his personal belief is that generalizations cannot be made about war, this idea is major throughout the entire novel. No generalizations can be made about any situation in a war. Everyone will have a story from the war all their own. The book begins with a great example of this, by listing all the things the men have brought with them and the reasons behind this. Various chapters throughout the book document the way the soldiers are coping with the horrors they're seeing. O'Brien used his writing. Kiowa had his bible and his religion. Bowker found no way to cope that he could find on this planet. There is no one way to generalize the effects a war will have on a person. 5. "I survived, but it's not a happy ending. I was a coward. Every person needs love in their life, no matter how beautiful, handsome, or strong they are. Love is always patient, kind, loyal, faithful, and true. Those who know about it, in their life, they can always get peace and joy, but those who don't know the meaning of love, their life's might be messed up. There are many different ways to love people. It can be between parents and children, friends, relatives, boy and girl, and God and people. Christian people believe that God loves everyone equally. Here we can find the love of God from the bible. This is how God showed his love to the world. 1 John 4:9–12 "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us." What this means is, we were in sin, so God sent his only son (Jesus Christ) in this world to take our sin from us and to show us the right path. He preached and did many miracles in people 's lives. At the end, Jesus had to die for us the cross to take our sin from us. The bible doesn't say that Jesus paid a propitiation, but that he is a propitiation for our sins (Rom ... • 37. When Learning Is An Important Thing Spoon Feeding Learning is an important thing in life, no one can promote to the next level with out learning. Now a days learning should be improved in multi ways, since that everything in the life is based on the learning, education and experience. Learning can be found mostly at school, where the students learn from their teachers. But unfortunately sometimes schools conduct the learning or education in a way that doesn't help the students to use their ideas and abilities. And this learning named as ''dependent learning'' or "Spoon–feeding". Spoon feeding mean that you are giving or teaching an important information to someone without letting them find the information they wants themselves. People in general, especially students, like to have all the information they need for them to pass the exam with high grades. Spoon–feeding in general can be in any field not only educational part but it's the most common situation. This strategy can harm the students because it will not give them a chance to learn and think and thinking is a part of learning. People learn when they put effort and try to think by their own even if it is hard at the beginning. Once students depend on someone else and share the same idea, they are not using their abilities and they might have a unique or new idea no one has it. (Mohanan, 2000) According to Prof Mohanan in his paper 'Centre for Development of Teaching and Learning. There are two methods of thinking and learning which they are the '' the ... • 38.
  • 39. What Was The Most Important Thing? MANIC 10 Discussions What was the most important thing in the reading? "Most: Conger (1991) states from the recent attention that the subject of leadership has received, we know that one critical role of effective leaders is to be skillful craftsmen of their organization's mission. We also know that of equal importance is the ability to communicate their missions in ways that generate great intrinsic appeal." To be an effective leader I agree that one must be skillful and understands what the organizational mission is. When working in a complex environment, one will have to navigate, negotiate, and learn how to work in a matrix environment. Communication is key to ensure that all understand what the mission, goals, and values of an organization are. Some may get distracted because of a shift in priorities, but a leader must be able to accomplish tasks and do it effectively and efficiently. What was something you agree with in the reading? "Agree: Conger (1991) states to create a meaningful frame for an organizational mission, values and beliefs are an essential component – especially those that reinforce commitment and provide guidance for daily actions. Their selection is crucial since they are the mechanical guts that power the vision's acceptance and accomplishment. By selecting and amplifying specific values and beliefs, the leader further frames interpretations of events, problems, or issues as they relate to the vision." When we go to work, what ...
