Stephenie Meyer Influence On Religion
On December 24, 1973, Stephenie Meyer was born in Hartford, Connecticut and later raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Being brought up as a Mormon, she
was very religious and was thought of as intelligent and bright by almost every one of her teachers. In early childhood, she began to read authors from
Emily Dickinson to Shakespeare which influenced her award winning four–book series. Taking themes and similar ideas from the authors that inspired
her, Stephenie Meyer brought the love for vampire thrillers back to life in her series, The Twilight Saga.
Her major works are what make people gravitate towards her. In early June of 2003, Meyer dreamt of a girl and a vampire falling in love but he was
always craving her blood. After having this dream, Meyer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I mean, who doesn't love a good forbidden love story with vampires and werewolves? The main character, Bella, is a mortal girl who finds herself
attracted to Edward, a vampire who is always craving her blood. She's unaware he is a vampire in the beginning chapters of the first book but as
soon as she finds out, it's all mushy love and action from there. Edward is always trying to protect her, which what girl doesn't want that in a guy,
but while Bella loves that, she is also trying to be independent and make her own decisions. Meyer does an outstanding job of making the reader
feel what Bella is feeling throughout the entire series. I believe she does the best in New Moon when Edward leaves Bella because he thinks he is
hurting her and robbing her of her humanity. He feared she would one day want to become a vampire and didn't wish that for her, he didn't even
wish that for himself. With that thought, he left her at once. Meyer took the reader through how Bella coped with the loss of Edward and what she
did to keep her from thinking about him. People may not have gone through something this dramatic, but it's a relatable topic which is why people
gravitate toward this series. People also love to see the love story unravel with all the obstacles they have to face in order to be together in the end.
While reading and anticipating, the reader sees the two characters fall in love and grow up. I think the whole Twilight

R. D. Laing made the statement, "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent." This becomes apparent in
Stephenie Meyer 's bestselling series Twilight. Twilight is about a teenage girl, a vampire, and a werewolf. Isabella Swan moved to a small town in the
state of Washington and while there she fell in love with some supernatural beings. What Laing is saying about the mortality of humans is thrown out
the window when vampires are involved, but the mortality of humans is still a major plot point in these books. Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, and Bella
Swan are perceived as metaphors for the darker parts of mankind's existence.
Even though he is one of the protagonists, Edward is a stalker. Herold explains, "He sneaks into Bella 's bedroom at night to watch her sleep. He
follows Bella; some even state Edward actually stalks Bella. He has a difficult time controlling his urge to drink her blood and to kill her"
(Herold). Edward's obsession for Isabella Swan is being mistaken for overwhelming love. He wants their relationship to be chaste until they are
married because does not want her to get hurt. In Lev Grossman's article he mentions that, "It's never quite clear whether he wants to sleep with
Bella or rip her throat out"(TIME). In the end he does have sex with her and kills her. Edward does, however, refrain from acting on his desires until
after marriage. His impulses are seen as acceptable ones because he is a dominant

Themes InBreaking Dawn, By Stephenie Meyer
In the book Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer there are many differences and similarities to this other book The Elite by Kiera Cass. There are the
difference of themes and the setting and the characters in each book. They are shown by using dialogue and the description in the seperate books. The
book Breaking Dawn is the story that shows love between Bella and Edward only growing deeper and more meaningful. In the book The Elite there is
the main character America Singer and how she is know really showing her true emotion to Maxon the prince.
During Breaking Dawn when you first start to read it, you know that it is a fantasy book and this is something that is not true in The Elite, this
book is based on the idea of Kings and Queens but this is something that is more realistic and is may happen. But in some sense you could say that
this is a similarity and something that it true between each of the books. But one of the many similarities is the strong theme in each of the books,
that theme is love and love is the one thing that almost of the characters in the book experience. Each of the characters are able to feel the deep
emotion that love holds. But the love is also different. It is shared between different people and it is a different meaning to each person in each of
the books. The Elite shows the love between 6 girls and one man. Breaking Dawn, the love is between Bella and Edward but then is basically
projected to other characters in the book. These characters are able to witness and understand how important the main characters of each book are
valuable to each other.
The setting in each of the books really shows how the importance of symbols makes the setting very important. The symbols that each of the setting
holds is also shown by the characters and how they are able to add to the setting and the symbolism. In each book the symbol is used a a gift to each of
the main characters. In The Elite America is given a bracelet. This bracelet symbolizes there love and also there conflicts. When having one of their
many conflict America shows that should doesn't really care but in a way she also shows that even without having that bracelet she still loves Maxon
and she still thinks about him, without

In this novel Dracula's interaction with other humans is not great because he never goes out of his castle unless he has an evil plan against someone.
Dracula has been described in many ways as a young man or even as an old grumpy man. In this book, Bram Stoker described Dracula by stating,
"Within, stood all man, clean shaven save for a long white moustache, and clad in black from head to foot, without a single speck of colour about
him anywhere". He described a man who looked neat and clean but with no color as in he looked pale. As we get to know more of Dracula's

Review Of ' The Lady With The Toy Dog '
The thought that a fictitious movie like Twilight is actually affecting women seems almost bizarre. You may wonder how it's even possible that we
can be so easily influenced by what some consider an "aimless series of vampire books". However, it's a proven fact that our brains react to fiction
tales and they can indeed impact us in ways we could only imagine. A study was done in 2009 at the University of Toronto in Canada testing the
hypothesis that art can cause significant changes in the experience of one's own personality traits under laboratory conditions. According to the
research journal, On Being Moved by Art: How Reading Fiction Transforms the Self, created by several authors: After completing a set of
questionnaires, including the Big–Five Inventory (BFI) and an emotion checklist, the experimental group read the short story The Lady With the Toy
Dog by Chekhov, while the control group read a comparison text that had the same content as the story, but was documentary in form. The comparison
text was controlled for length, readability, complexity, and interest level. Participants then completed again the BFI and emotion checklist, randomly
placed within a larger set of questionnaires. The results show the experimental group experienced significantly greater change in self–reported
experience of personality traits than the control group, and that emotion change mediated the effect of art on traits. The findings of this research, along
with plenty of other studies

Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer 's Twilight Books And...
Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight
movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most
well–known photographs of Twilight Moms captures the fans' emotions at a 2009 Twilight Event (Buckner). However, what strikes viewers most is not
the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that
Twilight's appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media claims that Twilight Moms are anti
–feminist women
who refuse to grow up. However, the media's biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate to
Twilight's protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly
constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the "Twilight Moms"
MySpace page (Brodesser–akner). According to Hansen, she originally created Twilight Moms for "married women and mothers;" however, that
definition has since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more inclusive group consisting of any female fan of Twilight beyond her teen years.

New Moon is a romance novel, and you can find this book at the library. Stephenie Meyer is the author of the Twilight Saga. Stephenie graduated from
Brigham Young University, with a degree in English literature. She lives with her husband, and her sons in Arizona. She is a delightful author that
writes adventurous books. The vocabulary and reading level is considered a high school level novel. New Moon is intended for teenage girls from ninth
to twelfth grade; enjoy reading about vampires.
Compare
Another book that Stephanie Meyer has written is The Host. The Host is similar to New Moon because they are both considered a romantic fiction
genre. Another similarity is both novels are based of supernatural characters. Most of Stephenie Meyer 's books are romance novels, science fiction, and
attracts most of the younger generations. She writes her books based off of dreams she's had. New Moon is different from the movie because in
the novel it mentions a lot more details than the movie. In the novel, Jasper no longer attends high school, and was a senior the previous year. In
the movie, Jasper attends high school, and he is in the same grade as Bella. In the novel, Edward discards his phone and is answered by somebody
in Brazil. In the movie, Edward crushes his phone so that nobody can use it. Bella hears Edward's voice when she is in a dangerous situation, but in
the movie Bella sees an apparition of Edward. Bella's depression is over with in January, but in

Feminine Traits Alone Aren 't Enough Make A Feminist Role...
Feminine traits alone aren't enough make you a feminist role model either. This idea is made clear by author Stephenie Meyer, the author of the
Twilight Saga. Throughout the books, Bella Swan is a 17 year old girl who is moving in with her father, out of town. She soon meets the Cullen
family, realizes they are vampires, and eventually becomes devoted to one of the males, Edward. During the course of the series, Bella is overly
emotional about a variety of things, most of the time she is considered to be overreacting. It is clear that Bella needs help with almost everything she
does, she even comes off as the damsel in distress in most of the series. While these characteristics are considered feminine, it still doesn't make Bella a

Bella responds with "'Mostly I dream about being with you forever'" (Meyers, Twilight 498). She says this to try to tell Edward that she is willing to
risk anything, even her own life to be with him. Bella won't listen to Edward despite him trying to convince her she is overreacting.
Ever since the beginning of Bella and Edward's relationship the two are almost inseparable, which is why when he decides to end their relationship
and leave in the second book, Bella becomes insane. She stares outside for hours on end, and refuses to go anywhere or hang out with her friends.
Bella's dad confronts her about her behavior saying, "'you're just... lifeless Bella'" (Meyers, New Moon 95). Clearly, she is overreacting, however she is
truly fitting the role of a basic "clingy girlfriend". While emotion is considered a female trait, a lot of people believe that all females overreact to
everything, which is exactly what Bella is doing by the way she reacts when Edward breaks up with her. Bella is not good feminist role model because
of her overreactions.
In addition to her overreactions, Bella is also excessively vulnerable. It seems as though Bella can't do anything without needing help from
someone. For example, in the first book, she can't seem to move herself out of the way of an oncoming car, in fact, Edward who is quite a distance
away has to rush over to save her. Bella is standing next to her truck when she notices a car coming at her, "I was able to absorb in

New Moon Essay
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer This book was quite suspenseful. While the series is known as being mainly romantically–based, New Moon contains
a great deal of mystery. At the beginning, Bella is unwrapping a present while at the house of her boyfriend (who just so happens to be a vampire).
His family is there, too, so when she gets a paper cut on her finger and then falls onto a glass table and slices her arms up, it's a disaster. With all
that blood, it definitely seems like the vampires would devour her. However, they don't. A few days later, Edward moves away because he believes
it's too dangerous for them to be together. This leaves you wondering if he'll ever come back. Then, Bella finds that if she... Show more content on

Things then turn desperate as Edward is slowly pulling away from her. The next part of the book is the part that's always the hardest for me to read.
The tone of the middle part is incredibly devastated until Bella meets Jacob. Then a little hope comes through because he's finally getting her happy
once again. While she's still in love with Edward, things are better when Jacob is around. A bit of time passes, and then the book gets suspenseful and
tense because Bella nearly kills herself by cliff– jumping. Edward thinks that she is actually dead, so he is going to attempt to kill himself, and Bella
has to try to rescue him. My favorite quote from the book is said by Bella a few months after Edward has left. She feels that her life has basically
ended, and she's spent the past few months in a zombie–like state. The quote is, "Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of
the second hand aches like the pulse behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me."
Another quote that gets me every time I think about it is said by Edward after him and Bella are reunited at the end. It is, "Before you, Bella, my life
was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars– points of light and reason. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly
everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there

Twilight: Book vs. Movie Essay example
Twilight: Book vs. Movie When comparing the book Twilight, written by Stephanie Meyers, with the movie Twilight, screenplay written by Melissa
Rosenberg and produced by Catherine Hardwicke, there are multiple visual differences between the two. Some important scenes were changed or
even omitted from the original text, leaving noticeable gaps in the movie's plot. There are big and important differences, which are obvious, while
there are also less important differences between them such as names and small missing details. The most important differences between the book
and movie were when Bella tells Edward she knows he is a Vampire and when Edward saves Bella from Tyler's van in the beginning. In reading the

Without being asked Bella keeps Edwards secret, which in turn earns her his trust. Another important scene in the book is when Bella goes to Port
Angeles with Jessica and Angela to help them pick out dresses and to also get a new book. She gets lost on her way back to meet her friends for
dinner. Lost with four men are following her, Edward comes out of nowhere to rescue her. He fishtails around a corner and stops with the
passenger door open next to Bella. He tells her to talk about something random to distract him from going back to kill Bella's stalkers. After he
rescues Bella, he takes her to dinner, where Bella interrogates Edward about how he knew where she was. The car ride home from Port Angeles is
another scene where the movie's timeline differs from the book. During the car ride Bella tells Edward her theories about him (Meyers 161). Her
theories are built on the story she learned from an old tribe legend Jacob told her when they meet on the beach, revealing that she knows Edward is a
vampire (183). This begins a new period in their relationship, where they trade off days asking one another questions about everything. The next day,
they go on a hike up the mountain to Edward's favorite spot, the meadow. He shows Bella why he and his family cannot be seen in the sunlight, being
that his skin sparkles in the light. Edward then shows her what he is capable by using his

Edward As A Monster In Our Society
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is a huge sensation for many people, however the idea of a good vampire is an oxymoron. A monster is still a
monster even if you dress it up. A monster is defined as one who strays from normal or acceptable behavior. The novel portrays Edward as
misunderstood and mysterious, although his behavior is similar to a monstrous predator. Edward, without his vampiric attributes, would still be
classified as a modern monster to society. Edward is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He hides his true nature behind his good looks. Edward was
introduced early on in the novel as stunning and very attractive. When Isabella, another character, first saw Edward she could kept glancing at him."
I glanced sideways at the beautiful boy " (28 ). The text also describes how the students who live in Forks view Edward. " 'That's Edward. He's
gorgeous, of course, but don't waste your time. He doesn't date. Apparently none of the girls here are good enough for him.' " (30–31). The other
students at the high school romanticize Edward, however none of them truly know him because of his mysterious and solemn attitude.... Show more

I was flattered. He was unrepentant. 'What else is there to do at night?'" (348). Edward unrepentance is characteristic of his vampiric nature. He knows
that a human can not stop him from doing what he wants. His unrepentance is also similar to a psychopath feeling no guilt because in Edward's mind,
he has committed no wrong. The mindset of self–righteousness and power Edward believes is not how an average person thinks. Edwards explains
that his human desires is overshadowed by his vampiric desires. Edward's self–awareness is seen in the quote " 'I don't want to be a monster.' "

A Sacrifice For Passion By Stephenie Meyers
Escarlin Perez Novel: New Moon June 8th, 2015
A Sacrifice for Passion. In accordance with a renowned statement that is reference by Stephenie Meyers from the novel, New Moon, happens to entitle
an astonishing significance to the novel itself. Furthermore, the statement on page 71, from Meyers in New Moon (said by Edward Cullen), states as
follows, "I promise that this will be the last time you'll see me. I won't come back. I won't put you through anything like this again. You can go on

the true meaning of sacrifice. Sacrifice that is, is being willing to lose something or someone for the sake of others benefit. Sacrifice tides closely

Cullen is the male protagonist in the novel, written by Meyers. Edward is a vampire who is one–hundred and seven years old, but portrays to be

Count Dracula And Edward Cullen: A Literary Analysis
Vampires have aroused a perennial fascination within humanity since their fictional materialization into history. However, it is over the course of the
last century that these creatures have become an iconic symbol of mystifying horror and inexplicable desire. Recently, the vampire has undergone
modifications that are imperative when considering two of the most notable vampires ever fashioned: Count Dracula and Edward Cullen. The
dissimilarity between the appearance, behaviour, surroundings, and supernatural disadvantages of Bram Stoker's 19th century Count Dracula and
Stephenie Meyer's 21st century Edward Cullen reflects the contrasting societies from which these vampires emerged.
To begin with, the acute variations between the presented images ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Cullen's are another wealthy vampire family, Edward does not reside in a castle. Contrastingly, he dwells in his family's impressive
home and drives a Volvo: a visible reflection of modern society. Unlike the traditional vampire, Edward is an idealistic partner and unwavering
protector of humans. Bella's character professes amazement regarding how "instantaneously the choking fear vanished" and a "sudden feeling of
security" engulfed her in response to Edward appearing to her rescue, amidst a dangerous situation (Meyer 162). This sense of safety in Edward's
presence is one that Bella regularly expresses, and it demonstrates his determination to safeguard humans, namely, his love interest. Furthermore,
Edward's entire relationship with his human girlfriend exhibits the capacity of his emotional range. Unfailingly, he professes sincere affection towards
Bella while going great lengths to prove it. Such lengths are multitudinous but include selflessly protecting her from harm, even in the form of himself,
by continuously resisting the urge to bite her and all humans. Edward Cullen adheres to a strict "vegetarian" diet, meaning that he feeds off the blood
of animals as an alternative to people because he does not "want to be a monster" (Meyer 187–188). This recreated diet reflects the dietary habits of
contemporary society, as does the incongruity in Edward's and Dracula's magical

The New Moon Poem
In the book New Moon, the author Stephenie Meyer tells the story about the main character Bella who is yet aged another year and is worried that
she is physically getting older than her boyfriend, Edward Cullen. Edward is a vampire. After days of strange, distant behavior, Edward takes
Bella for a walk and informs her that he is leaving Forks. Bella is now devastated and doesn't know what to do with her life, until she starts hanging
out with Jacob. This book compares to the poem Not. by Erin Hanson. The poem not is about accepting who you are. Not comparing yourself to
others by what you wear or what your weight is. You are where you have been, how many people love you, the things you dream about, and the
photos hung up in your room with memories. With the similarities and differences I have connected these two pieces of writing and compared them
through author's and goals, and the theme behind each piece. The book and the poem have multiple similarities throughout the book but some of the
differences that I have found were themes. The theme that had carried throughout the book New Moon was love and loss. Bella felt feelings so
deeply for Edward that when he left, her heart crumbled and everything around her. For example, Edward never gave her a reason on why he left. He
was everything to her and then he just left, taking a piece of Bella's heart with him. Bella was everything to him, and he chose to keep her safe by
leaving. Throughout the book, the characters have

Twilight Research Paper
The book Twilight is a very interesting book showing that extraordinary polarities don't matter between two people. No one in their right mind would
think that a lion and a lamb could fall in love. Lots of people would say that this is impossible. However, others say nothing is impossible.
In Twilight, Stephenie Meyer uses conflict to teach us that extreme differences don't always matter between two people that are in love. For
example, Edward knows that it's dangerous for Bella and himself to be together, but still wants to be with her. "It would be more...prudent for you
not to be my friend," he explained. "But I'm tired of trying to stay away from you, Bella." Edward wants to be with Bella, but is scared he will hurt
her. Furthermore, Edward tries to tell Bella that she shouldn't be around him, but neither of them care. Edward is willing to hurt himself in order to
protect Bella; Edward proves this by saying to Bella "... if leaving is the right thing to do, then I'll hurt myself to keep from hurting you, to keep you
safe." Bella and Edward want to be together, but it's dangerous. Edward decides that he would leave to protect Bella from his natural instincts as a
vampire. Clearly, extreme differences don't matter between two lovers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Twilight Saga is a series of five romance fantasy films from four novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. In the twilight saga portrays the
stereotype of women being controlled by a vampire until she falls in love with him, not many people would see it because the movie is based on a
romantic love story. Bella's low self–esteem makes it easy for Edward to show he's the dominant one in the relationship. He isolates her from her family
and defends her from other vampires. Throughout all the movies of twilight Edward is practically controlling Bella with everything she does. For

The Myth of the Vampire in Twilight
The myth of the vampire existed in a multitude of civilizations and cultures under various names such is strigoi (for the Romanian territory),
Apotamkin, etc. But no matter the name, vampires will always refer to gothic creatures that drain the blood of humans, thus being monstrous.
The first writer to introduce the vampire in literature was Lord Byron in the eighteenth century, but the most significant writer to develop the myth was
Bram Stoker. He is the „father" of the vampire as he gave a complete description of the vampire in his most famous book" Dracula". After the

Another particularity of the eyes of a vampire is that they show whether a vampire feeds on human or animal blood. This is best shown in the
baseball scene when James and the other vampires come and disrupt the Cullen's game. The camera focuses on the eyes of every new vampire(
which , as we were previously shown, attacked humans) and we can clearly notice that their eyes are scarlet red. So the redness of the eyes is an
indicative of the fact that these vampires are not" vegetarians".
The similarities stop here. There are definitely very few elements which are kept from all the previous books that present vampires, and to sum
everything up we know that they have cold and pale skin, the fact that they drink blood and the fact that they are very fast and strong.
The differences are way more numerous that the similarities and in this part of the essay we are going to present just that.
Stephenie Meyer also introduces a lot of new elements. For instance the most important entirely new element is that blood has a distinguished smell, a
smell which can trigger the vampires hunting instinct. Edward calls the smell of Bella's blood „ a drug" and „his personal brand of heroin".
First of all there is nothing that indicates Edward as a vampire apart from his cold and white skin( and the fact that he shines like diamonds but only in
the sun). But if this were a novel written by let's say Anne Rice, the vampire would definitely have fangs. Stephenie

Review Of Stephenie Meyer 's ' Twilight '
Lena Andersson

Research Paper
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is a romantic book about two teenagers, a girl named Bella and a vampire named Edward. The two of them fall in
love, and Bella is put in danger by a different group of vampires. There have been several different types of criticism towards this book and every
criticism is different ; it includes being one hundred percent justifiable to do absolutely anything for the one you love. Others have also said that it was
not intended to relate to teen girls, but it actually ended up doing just that. Also, some critics have compared Twilight to Harry Potter in the sense that
both of the stories "lie in a dream" (Bethune). Brian Bethune wrote a criticism called "Love at First Bite" which at first compares Stephenie Meyer's
Twilight to J.K. Rowlings' Harry Potter. There are various reasons why Bethune believes that Twilight is similar to Harry Potter. He believes that
Meyer's and Rowling 's' stories "lie in a dream" (Bethune). This is easy to agree with because Twilight is based on a vampire–friendly romance. This is
obviously unrealistic and would never happen in real life. In Harry Potter, the story is based on a warlock who fights off all different kinds of
magical and mythical creatures. Evidently, it is easy to figure out that this story also "lies in a dream." Bethune starts to talk about religion which is
based on Stephenie Meyer's real life and how her religion is somewhat duplicated in her Twilight

Literature And Society 's Influence On Society
When looking at a specific period of time, it 's hard to get a scope of the social zeitgeist without examining the role of women. Women in history and
society are extremely important because their roles give us powerful insight into the feelings and thoughts of the time. Throughout humanity 's time on
Earth, we have reflected societal feelings and norms through art, and literature. Changes in society can also be seen through the arts, and the roles of
women are not exceptions to this insight. Horror literature is interesting because changes in the monster reflect a change in society. The depiction of
vampires in art and literature shows society 's view towards women 's rights and sexual freedom. Changes in these depictions are due to the... Show

The fear of sex and impurity. Within the same passage,Dracula exhibits dialogue towards Mr. Harker to make him comfortable. He says "I am
Dracula, and I bid you welcome, Mr. Harker, to my house. Come in, the night air is chill, and you must need to eat and rest" (Stoker 19). When
Harker tries to bring his luggage up the count says "Nay, sir, you are my guest. It is late, and my people are not available. Let me see to your comfort
myself." (Stoker 19). Now this exchange might seem innocent but it is an attempt by the Count to make Harker comfortable. Much like a would–be
sexual partner would do to a woman he was trying to seduce. Even towards the end of the story when Dracula is clashing violently with Van Helsing,
Harker, and the narrator, they still get a sense of awe and amazement at him. " Suddenly with a single bound he leaped into the room. Winning a way
past us before any of us could raise a hand to stay him. There was something so pantherlike in the movement, something so unhuman, that it seemed to
sober us all from the shock of his coming." (Stoker 346). This goes to show that during the 19th century, people believed that sexual impurity and
danger comes from something or someone you might not expect. As a reaction to such ideas and thoughts, strict norms and rules were placed upon
women. One of the most interesting things about monsters and more specifically, vampires, is their ability to change.

She is the soul that has been placed inside the body of an unwilling human host that once belonged to a girl named Melanie Stryder. Her true form
owns the same appearance as all "souls"; ghostly, silver, and reflective with many small, feather–like attachments. However, while inhabiting the body
of her host, Melanie Stryder, she obtains her physical attributes, which include tan skin and long, dark, and glossy hair. Her name implies her traits;
she was named Wanderer because, in her previous eight lives, she had traveled to many planets and knows little to nothing about human culture and
behavior, making her stick out of the crowd of humans. It is safe to assume that she is a pacifist, for she states in the book multiple times that her
kind doesn't believe in violence. At the end of the book, Wanderer is placed into another host and gains long, golden hair, freckles, gray eyes, a
dimple, and a decrease in height. She becomes delicate and petite, for the soul that was in the body last was that way.
Melanie Stryder is a major character in the book, for she is the previous owner of the body that Wanderer was placed into. She is quite defiant in the
beginning, refusing to cooperate and allow Wanderer to take over her body completely. This creates conflict for both girls because they are nothing
alike. Melanie is very determined and is known to have a negative mind,

Entering the Stereotypical Gender Ring: Bella Swan's Passivity vs. Rosalie Hale's Proactivity
For my research project I have decided to choose a character from a popular book series, Twilight which was written by Stephenie Meyer. The
forbidden love story between a plain human girl and a gorgeous vampire boy sparked the hearts of millions, but the singular character I'm conducting
my research on is Rosalie Hale. While Bella Swan, the main character is passive, Rosalie Hale is proactive. This is shown through her avengement of
her brutal rape, rescuing her later husband, and speaking her mind frequently about her distrust of Swan throughout the four novels.
I was immediately drawn to Rosalie Hale because my thirteen year old self adored Twilight. I happily devoured the books in hours and awaited
eagerly till past my bedtime for Breaking Dawn to be released. When I first looked over the project, the book series popped into my mind, bringing
back all of my feelings for the novels before. More specifically, Rosalie Hale's character. In the book she is often overlooked and seen as the jealous,
stunning snob that just didn't understand the gravity of Bella and Edward's irrevocable love. I thought that, too, until years later when I realized that
Rosalie had proven to be the only voice of reason in the novels that will speak out against Bella Swan. The facts that I

The 2009 Twilight Film Directed By Catherine Hardwicke
4. Twilight (2009)
The 2009 Twilight film directed by Catherine Hardwicke is a box–office smash, it tells a high school love story happens between a human teenage girl
and a dashing 'young' vampire. Like the Dracula film I analysed earlier, this one is an adaptation from a book with the same title, which is written by
the American author Stephenie Meyer.
Differing from other vampire films, Twilight (2009) provides "different picture of a vampire" (LГ©talovГЎ, 2014, p. 1). Unlike their vampire
"ancestors", the vampire characters in Twilight (2009) are not afraid of daylight. They will glow and show their "true form" under the impact of direct
sunlight. However, the belief that vampires will be burnt into ashes while exposing to the direct sunlight is just an old superstition (origins from the
Gothic fictions in Victoria era), and the changes which have been made in the Twilight (2009) are nothing more than add some new superstitions about
vampires. To be more specific, in terms of giving definitions to vampires, there are not fundamental differences between this film and the other earlier
vampire films. They are still the "corpse supposed to drink the blood of the living by biting their necks with long pointed canine teeth", according to
the Oxford Advanced Learner 's Dictionary.
However, the rise of the mainstreaming vampire characters like Edward marks a distinct shift in the representation of otherness in contemporary
vampire films. The concept of otherness lines in the

How Is Twilight Related To Gothic Literature
Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer was the first part of a four book series that begun in 2005. The story begins with a girl and a vampire falling in
love, and was the first series in a while to bring vampires back into the lime light. The girl, Elisabeth "Bella" Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen,
have a complicated love that although they are destined to be together, everything is working against them to do otherwise. Throughout the work of
literature, although it is a modern day love story, Twilight displays many gothic characteristics in its writing including the plot and the role of the
woman character throughout the story. Just like any other supernatural creatures, vampires originated from literature. Vampire's were first seen... Show

Analysis Of Stephenie Meyer 's ' The Twilight Saga '
Stephenie Meyer is a well known author of the most popular fiction vampire romance novels. She is a young writer and wrote her first series of four
books called the Twilight Saga, which has become one of the most popular books and movies in the world. Stephenie was born on December 24, 1973
in Hartford, Connecticut (Newsmakers). Her parents were Stephen and Candy Morgan, an executive at a contracting firm and house–wife. They had a
total of six children: Seth, Emily, Jacob, Paul, Heidi, and Stephenie being the second oldest. Being one of the eldest siblings along with her sister
taught her much about how to be responsible (The Official Website ofStephenie Meyer). Her parents were very religious and passed down their beliefs
to their children. They were Mormons that attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints (LDS). Due to their religion, she and siblings were
brought up in a strict way, which she has stated, has provided her with a care–free and safe environment (USA Today). Growing up, Stephenie's
parents would read their children adult novels such as The Sword of Shannara and Gone with the Wind as bedtime stories. They would read up to an
anticipating moment in the story, stop, then tell their children it was time for bed. Curious to know what was going to happen next, Stephenie would
sneak the book out during the day and read from where they left off. She did not know that she was reading well beyond her age of a second–grader.

Analysis Of Child Bride In The Tale Of Genji
Child Bride
In both The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu and Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, two of the main characters fall in love with a child and want
to form an intimate relationship with them. The children have no say in this and are thrown into these situations out of the men's obsession with them.
This is somewhat understood by other characters in Breaking Dawn when Jacob imprints on Renesmee but in The Tale of Genji people refuse this
arrangement and he has to keep his love for her hidden until she grew of age to marry him. Throughout this essay, I will be discussing how thisromance
with young children is overall seen and played out in these works and how that reflects the values of their culture.
First, to understand these relationships, we need to see how this obsession with these young girls began. Both Genji and Jacob fall in love with these
little girls because they have characteristics of the women they still love but can't have. In The Tale of Genji the author states that, "It occurred to him
that his desire to see her grown up was kindled by her uncanny resemblance to Fujitsubo, the woman to whom his heart was eternally devoted"
(Shikibu 1412). Fujitsubo was Genji's platonic crush that he knew could never lead to anything because of her relationship with his dad. In Genji's
mind he probably thought that finding someone young that looks like her and raise her how he wanted her to be, would

Comparing Shelves And Vampires In Stephenie Meyer's Twilight
In the story Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, two boys, one a vampire, Edward, and the other a werewolf, Jacob, fight for the love of a human girl
named Bella. The two are sworn enemies; their families having hated each other for centuries. I couldn't help but wonder why werewolves and
vampires are constantly pitted against each other. It's a blatant trend in T.V. series, movies, and books, but why do people put them against each
other? One reason vampires and werewolves may be constantly fighting in their realities is because of the large differences between the two of them.
Vampires, often portrayed as aristocratic and regal with a large lust for blood, could see werewolves as mongrels, lowly dogs. They fear the beasts
inside of the werewolves.

Love is an amazing feeling that constantly inspires people to admire it in literature, cinema, music and other kinds of art. Many literal works are

However, there is serious misunderstanding not only inside the family, but also related with the social and public institutions. Social importance was
of a great value at that time and it restrained all the other aspects. Public opinion was a great obstacle at that time and Romeo and Juliet had to
preserve their love in spite of it. Romeo and Juliet were totally overwhelmed with love and this caused them to rebel and protest against all the
traditions and stereotypes in spite of the enmity between their families.
According to Juliet's father opinion it is not Juliet's responsibility to decide whom to give her heart. Social civility demands dictate this choice and
show the priorities despite some personal preferences and interests. One more obstacle these young lovers have to deal with is religion that dictates
certain standards and rules of appropriate behavior that are inconsistent with the power of their love.
Romeo's emotional maturity is growing, though sometimes he loses his cool and unthinkingly acts. Although it is difficult to label his suicide in the
play's final scene as mature, this final act certainly demonstrates Romeo's determination and devotion to his bride. He is no longer the wistful and
wishy–washy romantic neophyte of Act I, but a passionate and strong–willed young man, even if he demonstrates it in a decidedly unproductive way
(Lampert, 2008).

The Success of Stephanie Meyer Essay
"I'd never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go." Those are the famous
words that started it all, The Twilight Saga Phenomenon. The Twilight Saga consists of four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking
Dawn. Stephanie Meyer, author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at Brigham Young University. After graduating in 1997, Meyer chose
to be a stay–at–home mother to her three sons. The concept of the whole saga came to her in a dream one night. When she woke up, she took a pen
and paper and documented everything that occurred in her dream. She then based all four novels on that dream because she had a gut feeling that it

No one besides her sister knew that she was writing a novel, little known at the time, but the masterpiece known as Twilight. Since Meyer is a mother
of three, and is busy with her kids' needs and wants all day, she would take time late at night to work on writing her novel. And in three short months,
she completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is
centered around her life. All four books are written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives,
including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she becomes completely engrossed in the characters.
The main reason why she writes is because of the characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk
back. Coming up with the perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a name that was popular decades ago, but
at the same time, she wanted a name that was romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used the
characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name Edward. After coming up with the
names for the twosome, and was still in the process of creating their story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer

figure the novel is low quality as well. Those who have read the novel know this is not true; Twilight is full of elements that make the story

Writer's Technique Through Foreshadowing and Dramatic Irony Whether a reader knows about the traits of a Twilight vampire or not, it is very
easy to pick out examples of foreshadowing and dramatic irony in the book. Stephenie Meyer drops several hints pertaining to what Edward is, and
many readers realize that Edward is a vampire long before Bella ever does. In Twilight, Stephenie Meyer uses the techniques of foreshadowing and
dramatic irony to build suspense and reveal important character information about the Cullens. Stephenie Meyer drops foreshadowing to Edward and
his family being vampires in several ways; some of her foreshadowing methods are so subtle that readers don't pick up on them right away and only
notice them later in the book. One major way she foreshadows Edward's vampirism is through the innocent thoughts and intuitions of Bella Swan. A lot
of foreshadowing about the Cullens is done right away, in Chapter 1, when Bella first sees the Cullens. Of course, when she describes how pale and
beautiful they are, that is obviously foreshadowing to their vampirism; however, there are deeper means of foreshadowing that allude to their
immortality, sun 'allergy', and animal diet. These are all vampire traits that Bella doesn't learn about until later in the

The Vampire Chronicles Vs. Twilight Saga
The Vampire Chronicles vs The Twilight Saga Do you prefer The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice or The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer? This
question can lead into a huge argument due to the opinions of who answers the question. A person can guess the answer by the age of the people. The
older generation would suggest The Vampire Chronicles because it tells the tale of the "true" vampires, such as the human blood suckers that only

Although there are some major differences between The Vampire Chronicles and The Twilight Saga, the similarities are shocking. For people who

other novel series, The Twilight Saga, is byStephenie Meyer. Her novel series tells a story of a young ordinary female, Bella Swan, who falls in love

Mccarthyism In Dracula
Alongside society, art, and literature, the character of the vampire, too, has evolved. While the old, cliched character of a vampire has usually been
depicted as a cold–blooded, nefarious villain, contemporary vampires, however, possess qualities which illustrate them to be more affectionate and
compassionate. A noteworthy example of this is Edward Cullen fromStephenie Meyer's 'Twilight.' The origins of the idea of how a vampire can coexist
with humans in society and be capable of sympathy can be traced back to The Interview with the Vampire, written by Anne Rice, in 1976. While
Twilight is a modern phenomenon, it was Bram Stoker's Dracula that defined the vampire back in the late 18th century.
Dracula is described as, "a tall old man, clean shaven save for a long white moustache, and clad in black from head to foot, without a single speck of
colour about him anywhere." (Stoker 15). Dracula's description proves how he was abnormal and different to humans. He is ... Show more content on

What enabled Dracula to become a chilling villain is perhaps where he comes from, Transylvania, an eerie, obscure area with *strange* individuals
and norms. Perhaps, during that time , the masses of Stoker's nation, England, were not open to individuals of foreign cultures and ethnicities. The
xenophobic aura of England during the Victorian era facilitated Stoker to create a character the ordinary reader would despise, yet fear.
Out of the many characteristics that transformed along with vampires in literature, the most profound of those changes were towards normalcy. Edward
Cullen from Twilight can be part of a functioning society without individuals suspecting a vampire amongst them. Despite his vampiric roots, he was
rather different to Dracula. Edward understood he was condemned

When thinking of the word "vampire" most people would think that "the vampire is a dark and ominous creature of the woods of Hungary or

vampires may turn into bats and that they drain humans of their blood. Vampireshave to invited into a home by an owner and they cannot go
anywhere near garlic. If you try to take a picture of them they will not show up on the film. They might believe that vampires are completely
uncivilized and animalistic. In many stories and films this was the story that was told of vampires and now it is known as "stereotypical vampires".
Today, to keep thevampire genre fresh and new, authors and screenwriters turned the genre around and created new histories and descriptions of

hospital after Bella was attacked by James (the now barbequed vampire), when Edward tells Bella that she has to move to Jacksonville with her

being crushed by a truck with his inhuman powers. After that day, Bella demands an explanation for all of Edward's odd behavior. He reveals to
her that he and his family are vampires that drink animal blood rather that the blood of humans. He also says that Bella's blood has a special scent
to him, making it especially hard for Edward to resist the temptation to fall back to preying on humans. Despite some struggles, Edward and Bella
eventually fall in love. However, their love is threatened when a vampire named James and his companion, Victoria, are drawn to hunt Bella for
her blood. The Cullen family defends Bella from the hunter James. However, James tricks her, managing to seriously wound Bella. However,

Stephenie Meyer Influence On Religion

  • 1. Stephenie Meyer Influence On Religion On December 24, 1973, Stephenie Meyer was born in Hartford, Connecticut and later raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Being brought up as a Mormon, she was very religious and was thought of as intelligent and bright by almost every one of her teachers. In early childhood, she began to read authors from Emily Dickinson to Shakespeare which influenced her award winning four–book series. Taking themes and similar ideas from the authors that inspired her, Stephenie Meyer brought the love for vampire thrillers back to life in her series, The Twilight Saga. Her major works are what make people gravitate towards her. In early June of 2003, Meyer dreamt of a girl and a vampire falling in love but he was always craving her blood. After having this dream, Meyer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I mean, who doesn't love a good forbidden love story with vampires and werewolves? The main character, Bella, is a mortal girl who finds herself attracted to Edward, a vampire who is always craving her blood. She's unaware he is a vampire in the beginning chapters of the first book but as soon as she finds out, it's all mushy love and action from there. Edward is always trying to protect her, which what girl doesn't want that in a guy, but while Bella loves that, she is also trying to be independent and make her own decisions. Meyer does an outstanding job of making the reader feel what Bella is feeling throughout the entire series. I believe she does the best in New Moon when Edward leaves Bella because he thinks he is hurting her and robbing her of her humanity. He feared she would one day want to become a vampire and didn't wish that for her, he didn't even wish that for himself. With that thought, he left her at once. Meyer took the reader through how Bella coped with the loss of Edward and what she did to keep her from thinking about him. People may not have gone through something this dramatic, but it's a relatable topic which is why people gravitate toward this series. People also love to see the love story unravel with all the obstacles they have to face in order to be together in the end. While reading and anticipating, the reader sees the two characters fall in love and grow up. I think the whole Twilight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Twilight Term Papers R. D. Laing made the statement, "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent." This becomes apparent in Stephenie Meyer 's bestselling series Twilight. Twilight is about a teenage girl, a vampire, and a werewolf. Isabella Swan moved to a small town in the state of Washington and while there she fell in love with some supernatural beings. What Laing is saying about the mortality of humans is thrown out the window when vampires are involved, but the mortality of humans is still a major plot point in these books. Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, and Bella Swan are perceived as metaphors for the darker parts of mankind's existence. Even though he is one of the protagonists, Edward is a stalker. Herold explains, "He sneaks into Bella 's bedroom at night to watch her sleep. He follows Bella; some even state Edward actually stalks Bella. He has a difficult time controlling his urge to drink her blood and to kill her" (Herold). Edward's obsession for Isabella Swan is being mistaken for overwhelming love. He wants their relationship to be chaste until they are married because does not want her to get hurt. In Lev Grossman's article he mentions that, "It's never quite clear whether he wants to sleep with Bella or rip her throat out"(TIME). In the end he does have sex with her and kills her. Edward does, however, refrain from acting on his desires until after marriage. His impulses are seen as acceptable ones because he is a dominant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Themes InBreaking Dawn, By Stephenie Meyer In the book Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer there are many differences and similarities to this other book The Elite by Kiera Cass. There are the difference of themes and the setting and the characters in each book. They are shown by using dialogue and the description in the seperate books. The book Breaking Dawn is the story that shows love between Bella and Edward only growing deeper and more meaningful. In the book The Elite there is the main character America Singer and how she is know really showing her true emotion to Maxon the prince. During Breaking Dawn when you first start to read it, you know that it is a fantasy book and this is something that is not true in The Elite, this book is based on the idea of Kings and Queens but this is something that is more realistic and is may happen. But in some sense you could say that this is a similarity and something that it true between each of the books. But one of the many similarities is the strong theme in each of the books, that theme is love and love is the one thing that almost of the characters in the book experience. Each of the characters are able to feel the deep emotion that love holds. But the love is also different. It is shared between different people and it is a different meaning to each person in each of the books. The Elite shows the love between 6 girls and one man. Breaking Dawn, the love is between Bella and Edward but then is basically projected to other characters in the book. These characters are able to witness and understand how important the main characters of each book are valuable to each other. The setting in each of the books really shows how the importance of symbols makes the setting very important. The symbols that each of the setting holds is also shown by the characters and how they are able to add to the setting and the symbolism. In each book the symbol is used a a gift to each of the main characters. In The Elite America is given a bracelet. This bracelet symbolizes there love and also there conflicts. When having one of their many conflict America shows that should doesn't really care but in a way she also shows that even without having that bracelet she still loves Maxon and she still thinks about him, without ... • 4. The Transition Of Vampires By Cole Bowman The Transition of Vampires from 1897 to 2006 Anai Rios Alcala English IV Mrs. Proctor May 8, 2017 What are vampires? Well there are many myths out in the whole world of vampires. Vampires are creatures that are dead yet still walk among the living; all vampires have fangs, they are afraid of the sunlight, they can shape–shift and they drink the blood of their victims. People say vampires are human corpses that return from the grave to harm living and others say they are not humans at all that vampires are supernatural, demonic creatures and not human form. What is evil? Evil is what is morally wrong, sinful, or wicked. Vampires can be categorized as evil as said in the article "What's Evil, Anyway?" by Cole Bowman. Vampires... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this novel Dracula's interaction with other humans is not great because he never goes out of his castle unless he has an evil plan against someone. Dracula has been described in many ways as a young man or even as an old grumpy man. In this book, Bram Stoker described Dracula by stating, "Within, stood all man, clean shaven save for a long white moustache, and clad in black from head to foot, without a single speck of colour about him anywhere". He described a man who looked neat and clean but with no color as in he looked pale. As we get to know more of Dracula's appearance in this novel he seems more unique and not so much like a human. (Stoker 160). The writer also stated, "His face was a strong–a very strong–aquiline, with high bridge of the thin nose and peculiarly arched nostrils.... cruel–looking, with peculiarly sharp white teeth". (Stoker 18). Back in the old centuries people really did not know how vampires looked but now in modern days as we hear the word vampires we imagine a man dressed in black with pale skin and sharp teeth. Count Dracula was seen an evil creature who bit people and took their soul. What is the description of a perfect man? A perfect man is someone who cares about his love one and protects his more precious person in the world. In the book "Twilight" Edward Cullen can be described as a perfect man by Bella. When Bella and Edward met, she did not know who he really was. They both had a connection towards each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Review Of ' The Lady With The Toy Dog ' The thought that a fictitious movie like Twilight is actually affecting women seems almost bizarre. You may wonder how it's even possible that we can be so easily influenced by what some consider an "aimless series of vampire books". However, it's a proven fact that our brains react to fiction tales and they can indeed impact us in ways we could only imagine. A study was done in 2009 at the University of Toronto in Canada testing the hypothesis that art can cause significant changes in the experience of one's own personality traits under laboratory conditions. According to the research journal, On Being Moved by Art: How Reading Fiction Transforms the Self, created by several authors: After completing a set of questionnaires, including the Big–Five Inventory (BFI) and an emotion checklist, the experimental group read the short story The Lady With the Toy Dog by Chekhov, while the control group read a comparison text that had the same content as the story, but was documentary in form. The comparison text was controlled for length, readability, complexity, and interest level. Participants then completed again the BFI and emotion checklist, randomly placed within a larger set of questionnaires. The results show the experimental group experienced significantly greater change in self–reported experience of personality traits than the control group, and that emotion change mediated the effect of art on traits. The findings of this research, along with plenty of other studies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer 's Twilight Books And... Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most well–known photographs of Twilight Moms captures the fans' emotions at a 2009 Twilight Event (Buckner). However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that Twilight's appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media claims that Twilight Moms are anti –feminist women who refuse to grow up. However, the media's biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate to Twilight's protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the "Twilight Moms" MySpace page (Brodesser–akner). According to Hansen, she originally created Twilight Moms for "married women and mothers;" however, that definition has since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more inclusive group consisting of any female fan of Twilight beyond her teen years. Because Twilight Moms are grown women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. New Moon By Stephenie Meyer Classify New Moon is a romance novel, and you can find this book at the library. Stephenie Meyer is the author of the Twilight Saga. Stephenie graduated from Brigham Young University, with a degree in English literature. She lives with her husband, and her sons in Arizona. She is a delightful author that writes adventurous books. The vocabulary and reading level is considered a high school level novel. New Moon is intended for teenage girls from ninth to twelfth grade; enjoy reading about vampires. Compare Another book that Stephanie Meyer has written is The Host. The Host is similar to New Moon because they are both considered a romantic fiction genre. Another similarity is both novels are based of supernatural characters. Most of Stephenie Meyer 's books are romance novels, science fiction, and attracts most of the younger generations. She writes her books based off of dreams she's had. New Moon is different from the movie because in the novel it mentions a lot more details than the movie. In the novel, Jasper no longer attends high school, and was a senior the previous year. In the movie, Jasper attends high school, and he is in the same grade as Bella. In the novel, Edward discards his phone and is answered by somebody in Brazil. In the movie, Edward crushes his phone so that nobody can use it. Bella hears Edward's voice when she is in a dangerous situation, but in the movie Bella sees an apparition of Edward. Bella's depression is over with in January, but in ... • 8. Feminine Traits Alone Aren 't Enough Make A Feminist Role... Feminine traits alone aren't enough make you a feminist role model either. This idea is made clear by author Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight Saga. Throughout the books, Bella Swan is a 17 year old girl who is moving in with her father, out of town. She soon meets the Cullen family, realizes they are vampires, and eventually becomes devoted to one of the males, Edward. During the course of the series, Bella is overly emotional about a variety of things, most of the time she is considered to be overreacting. It is clear that Bella needs help with almost everything she does, she even comes off as the damsel in distress in most of the series. While these characteristics are considered feminine, it still doesn't make Bella a true... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bella responds with "'Mostly I dream about being with you forever'" (Meyers, Twilight 498). She says this to try to tell Edward that she is willing to risk anything, even her own life to be with him. Bella won't listen to Edward despite him trying to convince her she is overreacting. Ever since the beginning of Bella and Edward's relationship the two are almost inseparable, which is why when he decides to end their relationship and leave in the second book, Bella becomes insane. She stares outside for hours on end, and refuses to go anywhere or hang out with her friends. Bella's dad confronts her about her behavior saying, "'you're just... lifeless Bella'" (Meyers, New Moon 95). Clearly, she is overreacting, however she is truly fitting the role of a basic "clingy girlfriend". While emotion is considered a female trait, a lot of people believe that all females overreact to everything, which is exactly what Bella is doing by the way she reacts when Edward breaks up with her. Bella is not good feminist role model because of her overreactions. In addition to her overreactions, Bella is also excessively vulnerable. It seems as though Bella can't do anything without needing help from someone. For example, in the first book, she can't seem to move herself out of the way of an oncoming car, in fact, Edward who is quite a distance away has to rush over to save her. Bella is standing next to her truck when she notices a car coming at her, "I was able to absorb in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. New Moon Essay New Moon by Stephenie Meyer This book was quite suspenseful. While the series is known as being mainly romantically–based, New Moon contains a great deal of mystery. At the beginning, Bella is unwrapping a present while at the house of her boyfriend (who just so happens to be a vampire). His family is there, too, so when she gets a paper cut on her finger and then falls onto a glass table and slices her arms up, it's a disaster. With all that blood, it definitely seems like the vampires would devour her. However, they don't. A few days later, Edward moves away because he believes it's too dangerous for them to be together. This leaves you wondering if he'll ever come back. Then, Bella finds that if she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Things then turn desperate as Edward is slowly pulling away from her. The next part of the book is the part that's always the hardest for me to read. The tone of the middle part is incredibly devastated until Bella meets Jacob. Then a little hope comes through because he's finally getting her happy once again. While she's still in love with Edward, things are better when Jacob is around. A bit of time passes, and then the book gets suspenseful and tense because Bella nearly kills herself by cliff– jumping. Edward thinks that she is actually dead, so he is going to attempt to kill himself, and Bella has to try to rescue him. My favorite quote from the book is said by Bella a few months after Edward has left. She feels that her life has basically ended, and she's spent the past few months in a zombie–like state. The quote is, "Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me." Another quote that gets me every time I think about it is said by Edward after him and Bella are reunited at the end. It is, "Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars– points of light and reason. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there ... Twilight: Book vs. Movie Essay example Twilight: Book vs. Movie When comparing the book Twilight, written by Stephanie Meyers, with the movie Twilight, screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg and produced by Catherine Hardwicke, there are multiple visual differences between the two. There are big and important differences, which are obvious, while there are also less important differences between them such as names and small missing details. He fishtails around a corner and stops with the passenger door open next to Bella. He tells her to talk about something random to distract him from going back to kill Bella's stalkers. After he rescues Bella, he takes her to dinner, where Bella interrogates Edward about how he knew where she was. The car ride home from Port Angeles is another scene where the movie's timeline differs from the book. During the car ride Bella tells Edward her theories about him (Meyers 161). Her theories are built on the story she learned from an old tribe legend Jacob told her when they meet on the beach, revealing that she knows Edward is a vampire (183). This begins a new period in their relationship, where they trade off days asking one another questions about everything. A monster is still a monster even if you dress it up. A monster is defined as one who strays from normal or acceptable behavior. The novel portrays Edward as misunderstood and mysterious, although his behavior is similar to a monstrous predator. Edward, without his vampiric attributes, would still be classified as a modern monster to society. Edward is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He hides his true nature behind his good looks. Edward was introduced early on in the novel as stunning and very attractive. When Isabella, another character, first saw Edward she could kept glancing at him." I glanced sideways at the beautiful boy " (28 ). The text also describes how the students who live in Forks view Edward. " 'That's Edward. He's gorgeous, of course, but don't waste your time. However, it is over the course of the last century that these creatures have become an iconic symbol of mystifying horror and inexplicable desire. Recently, the vampire has undergone modifications that are imperative when considering two of the most notable vampires ever fashioned: Count Dracula and Edward Cullen. The dissimilarity between the appearance, behaviour, surroundings, and supernatural disadvantages of Bram Stoker's 19th century Count Dracula and Stephenie Meyer's 21st century Edward Cullen reflects the contrasting societies from which these vampires emerged. Although the Cullen's are another wealthy vampire family, Edward does not reside in a castle. Contrastingly, he dwells in his family's impressive home and drives a Volvo: a visible reflection of modern society. Unlike the traditional vampire, Edward is an idealistic partner and unwavering protector of humans. Bella's character professes amazement regarding how "instantaneously the choking fear vanished" and a "sudden feeling of security" engulfed her in response to Edward appearing to her rescue, amidst a dangerous situation (Meyer 162). This sense of safety in Edward's presence is one that Bella regularly expresses, and it demonstrates his determination to safeguard humans, namely, his love interest. Furthermore, Edward's entire relationship with his human girlfriend exhibits the capacity of his emotional range. Unfailingly, he professes sincere affection towards Bella while going great lengths to prove it. Such lengths are multitudinous but include selflessly protecting her from harm, even in the form of himself, by continuously resisting the urge to bite her and all humans. Edward Cullen adheres to a strict "vegetarian" diet, meaning that he feeds off the blood of animals as an alternative to people because he does not "want to be a monster" (Meyer 187–188). • 14. The New Moon Poem In the book New Moon, the author Stephenie Meyer tells the story about the main character Bella who is yet aged another year and is worried that she is physically getting older than her boyfriend, Edward Cullen. Edward is a vampire. After days of strange, distant behavior, Edward takes Bella for a walk and informs her that he is leaving Forks. Bella is now devastated and doesn't know what to do with her life, until she starts hanging out with Jacob. This book compares to the poem Not. by Erin Hanson. The poem not is about accepting who you are. Not comparing yourself to others by what you wear or what your weight is. You are where you have been, how many people love you, the things you dream about, and the photos hung up in your room with memories. With the similarities and differences I have connected these two pieces of writing and compared them through author's and goals, and the theme behind each piece. The book and the poem have multiple similarities throughout the book but some of the differences that I have found were themes. The theme that had carried throughout the book New Moon was love and loss. Bella felt feelings so deeply for Edward that when he left, her heart crumbled and everything around her. For example, Edward never gave her a reason on why he left. He was everything to her and then he just left, taking a piece of Bella's heart with him. Bella was everything to him, and he chose to keep her safe by leaving. Throughout the book, the characters have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No one in their right mind would think that a lion and a lamb could fall in love. Lots of people would say that this is impossible. However, others say nothing is impossible. In Twilight, Stephenie Meyer uses conflict to teach us that extreme differences don't always matter between two people that are in love. For example, Edward knows that it's dangerous for Bella and himself to be together, but still wants to be with her. "It would be more...prudent for you not to be my friend," he explained. "But I'm tired of trying to stay away from you, Bella." Edward wants to be with Bella, but is scared he will hurt her. Furthermore, Edward tries to tell Bella that she shouldn't be around him, but neither of them care. Edward is willing to hurt himself in order to protect Bella; Edward proves this by saying to Bella "... if leaving is the right thing to do, then I'll hurt myself to keep from hurting you, to keep you safe." People say vampires are human corpses that return from the grave to harm living and others say they are not humans at all that vampires are supernatural, demonic creatures and not human form. The first writer to introduce the vampire in literature was Lord Byron in the eighteenth century, but the most significant writer to develop the myth was Bram Stoker. He is the „father" of the vampire as he gave a complete description of the vampire in his most famous book" Dracula". After the release of the book, the myth of the vampire became extremely popular amongst writers and as a consequence the books whose main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another particularity of the eyes of a vampire is that they show whether a vampire feeds on human or animal blood. This is best shown in the baseball scene when James and the other vampires come and disrupt the Cullen's game. The camera focuses on the eyes of every new vampire( which , as we were previously shown, attacked humans) and we can clearly notice that their eyes are scarlet red. So the redness of the eyes is an indicative of the fact that these vampires are not" vegetarians". The similarities stop here. There are definitely very few elements which are kept from all the previous books that present vampires, and to sum everything up we know that they have cold and pale skin, the fact that they drink blood and the fact that they are very fast and strong. The differences are way more numerous that the similarities and in this part of the essay we are going to present just that. Stephenie Meyer also introduces a lot of new elements. For instance the most important entirely new element is that blood has a distinguished smell, a smell which can trigger the vampires hunting instinct. Edward calls the smell of Bella's blood „ a drug" and „his personal brand of heroin". The two of them fall in love, and Bella is put in danger by a different group of vampires. There have been several different types of criticism towards this book and every criticism is different ; it includes being one hundred percent justifiable to do absolutely anything for the one you love. Others have also said that it was not intended to relate to teen girls, but it actually ended up doing just that. Also, some critics have compared Twilight to Harry Potter in the sense that both of the stories "lie in a dream" (Bethune). Brian Bethune wrote a criticism called "Love at First Bite" which at first compares Stephenie Meyer's Twilight to J.K. Rowlings' Harry Potter. There are various reasons why Bethune believes that Twilight is similar to Harry Potter. He believes that Meyer's and Rowling 's' stories "lie in a dream" (Bethune). This is easy to agree with because Twilight is based on a vampire–friendly romance. This is obviously unrealistic and would never happen in real life. In Harry Potter, the story is based on a warlock who fights off all different kinds of magical and mythical creatures. Evidently, it is easy to figure out that this story also "lies in a dream." Women in history and society are extremely important because their roles give us powerful insight into the feelings and thoughts of the time. Throughout humanity 's time on Earth, we have reflected societal feelings and norms through art, and literature. Changes in society can also be seen through the arts, and the roles of women are not exceptions to this insight. When Harker tries to bring his luggage up the count says "Nay, sir, you are my guest. It is late, and my people are not available. Let me see to your comfort myself." (Stoker 19). Now this exchange might seem innocent but it is an attempt by the Count to make Harker comfortable. Much like a would–be sexual partner would do to a woman he was trying to seduce. Even towards the end of the story when Dracula is clashing violently with Van Helsing, Harker, and the narrator, they still get a sense of awe and amazement at him. " Suddenly with a single bound he leaped into the room. Winning a way past us before any of us could raise a hand to stay him. There was something so pantherlike in the movement, something so unhuman, that it seemed to sober us all from the shock of his coming." (Stoker 346). This goes to show that during the 19th century, people believed that sexual impurity and danger comes from something or someone you might not expect. As a reaction to such ideas and thoughts, strict norms and rules were placed upon women. The forbidden love story between a plain human girl and a gorgeous vampire boy sparked the hearts of millions, but the singular character I'm conducting my research on is Rosalie Hale. While Bella Swan, the main character is passive, Rosalie Hale is proactive. This is shown through her avengement of her brutal rape, rescuing her later husband, and speaking her mind frequently about her distrust of Swan throughout the four novels. I was immediately drawn to Rosalie Hale because my thirteen year old self adored Twilight. I happily devoured the books in hours and awaited eagerly till past my bedtime for Breaking Dawn to be released. When I first looked over the project, the book series popped into my mind, bringing back all of my feelings for the novels before. More specifically, Rosalie Hale's character. In the book she is often overlooked and seen as the jealous, stunning snob that just didn't understand the gravity of Bella and Edward's irrevocable love. I thought that, too, until years later when I realized that Rosalie had proven to be the only voice of reason in the novels that will speak out against Bella Swan. The facts that I ... Twilight (2009) The 2009 Twilight film directed by Catherine Hardwicke is a box–office smash, it tells a high school love story happens between a human teenage girl and a dashing 'young' vampire. Like the Dracula film I analysed earlier, this one is an adaptation from a book with the same title, which is written by the American author Stephenie Meyer. Differing from other vampire films, Twilight (2009) provides "different picture of a vampire" (LГ©talovГЎ, 2014, p. 1). Unlike their vampire "ancestors", the vampire characters in Twilight (2009) are not afraid of daylight. They will glow and show their "true form" under the impact of direct sunlight. However, the belief that vampires will be burnt into ashes while exposing to the direct sunlight is just an old superstition (origins from the Gothic fictions in Victoria era), and the changes which have been made in the Twilight (2009) are nothing more than add some new superstitions about vampires. To be more specific, in terms of giving definitions to vampires, there are not fundamental differences between this film and the other earlier vampire films. They are still the "corpse supposed to drink the blood of the living by biting their necks with long pointed canine teeth", according to the Oxford Advanced Learner 's Dictionary. This is somewhat understood by other characters in Breaking Dawn when Jacob imprints on Renesmee but in The Tale of Genji people refuse this arrangement and he has to keep his love for her hidden until she grew of age to marry him. Throughout this essay, I will be discussing how thisromance with young children is overall seen and played out in these works and how that reflects the values of their culture. First, to understand these relationships, we need to see how this obsession with these young girls began. Both Genji and Jacob fall in love with these little girls because they have characteristics of the women they still love but can't have. In The Tale of Genji the author states that, "It occurred to him that his desire to see her grown up was kindled by her uncanny resemblance to Fujitsubo, the woman to whom his heart was eternally devoted" (Shikibu 1412). • 29. Romeo and Juliet Love is an amazing feeling that constantly inspires people to admire it in literature, cinema, music and other kinds of art. Many literal works are devoted to the description of this overwhelming feeling and its development. However, there is not much told about various challenges and obstacles lovers have to come across. Both the "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer and "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare are great examples of love that is tested by various challenges and complications. There simply is no more commonly quoted or alluded to dramatist or author in the Western world, nor a storyteller with more films to his individual credit. He helped to invent the modern English language and his dramatic corpus engulfs what is universal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there is serious misunderstanding not only inside the family, but also related with the social and public institutions. Social importance was of a great value at that time and it restrained all the other aspects. Public opinion was a great obstacle at that time and Romeo and Juliet had to preserve their love in spite of it. Romeo and Juliet were totally overwhelmed with love and this caused them to rebel and protest against all the traditions and stereotypes in spite of the enmity between their families. According to Juliet's father opinion it is not Juliet's responsibility to decide whom to give her heart. Social civility demands dictate this choice and show the priorities despite some personal preferences and interests. One more obstacle these young lovers have to deal with is religion that dictates certain standards and rules of appropriate behavior that are inconsistent with the power of their love. Romeo's emotional maturity is growing, though sometimes he loses his cool and unthinkingly acts. Although it is difficult to label his suicide in the play's final scene as mature, this final act certainly demonstrates Romeo's determination and devotion to his bride. He is no longer the wistful and wishy–washy romantic neophyte of Act I, but a passionate and strong–willed young man, even if he demonstrates it in a decidedly unproductive way (Lampert, 2008). Romeo and Juliet have to struggle for their love and their right to love. This fight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Success of Stephanie Meyer Essay "I'd never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go." Those are the famous words that started it all, The Twilight Saga Phenomenon. The Twilight Saga consists of four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Stephanie Meyer, author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at Brigham Young University. After graduating in 1997, Meyer chose to be a stay–at–home mother to her three sons. The concept of the whole saga came to her in a dream one night. When she woke up, she took a pen and paper and documented everything that occurred in her dream. She then based all four novels on that dream because she had a gut feeling that it was going to make a great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one besides her sister knew that she was writing a novel, little known at the time, but the masterpiece known as Twilight. Since Meyer is a mother of three, and is busy with her kids' needs and wants all day, she would take time late at night to work on writing her novel. And in three short months, she completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is centered around her life. All four books are written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives, including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main reason why she writes is because of the characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back. Coming up with the perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that was romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used the characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name Edward. After coming up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the process of creating their story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer would ... • 31. Suspense And Symbolism In Elie Wiesel's 'Night' Twilight Most people have heard the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover"; in Twilight's case, however, the accurate phrase is "don't judge a book by its movie". Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer, is an exciting and romantic story about the unorthodox love between a human, Bella Swan, and a vampire, Edward Cullen. Unfortunately, many people know Twilight only by its 2008 film interpretation, and because of the quality of its movie, they figure the novel is low quality as well. Those who have read the novel know this is not true; Twilight is full of elements that make the story devourable by its readers. It is packed with symbolism in its front cover and in Stephenie Meyer's choice of setting; it has well–developed, intriguing characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Writer's Technique Through Foreshadowing and Dramatic Irony Whether a reader knows about the traits of a Twilight vampire or not, it is very easy to pick out examples of foreshadowing and dramatic irony in the book. Stephenie Meyer drops several hints pertaining to what Edward is, and many readers realize that Edward is a vampire long before Bella ever does. In Twilight, Stephenie Meyer uses the techniques of foreshadowing and dramatic irony to build suspense and reveal important character information about the Cullens. Stephenie Meyer drops foreshadowing to Edward and his family being vampires in several ways; some of her foreshadowing methods are so subtle that readers don't pick up on them right away and only notice them later in the book. One major way she foreshadows Edward's vampirism is through the innocent thoughts and intuitions of Bella Swan. A lot of foreshadowing about the Cullens is done right away, in Chapter 1, when Bella first sees the Cullens. Of course, when she describes how pale and beautiful they are, that is obviously foreshadowing to their vampirism; however, there are deeper means of foreshadowing that allude to their immortality, sun 'allergy', and animal diet. These are all vampire traits that Bella doesn't learn about until later in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Vampire Chronicles Vs. Twilight Saga The Vampire Chronicles vs The Twilight Saga Do you prefer The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice or The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer? This question can lead into a huge argument due to the opinions of who answers the question. A person can guess the answer by the age of the people. The older generation would suggest The Vampire Chronicles because it tells the tale of the "true" vampires, such as the human blood suckers that only comes out at night. While the younger generation would suggest The Twilight Saga because it shows that vampires can be like regular people. Although there are some major differences between The Vampire Chronicles and The Twilight Saga, the similarities are shocking. For people who forgot or don't know about these two novels, these novels are about the lives of vampires. The Vampire Chronicles (1976–2003) is by Anne Rice. • 33. Mccarthyism In Dracula Alongside society, art, and literature, the character of the vampire, too, has evolved. While the old, cliched character of a vampire has usually been depicted as a cold–blooded, nefarious villain, contemporary vampires, however, possess qualities which illustrate them to be more affectionate and compassionate. A noteworthy example of this is Edward Cullen fromStephenie Meyer's 'Twilight.' The origins of the idea of how a vampire can coexist with humans in society and be capable of sympathy can be traced back to The Interview with the Vampire, written by Anne Rice, in 1976. While Twilight is a modern phenomenon, it was Bram Stoker's Dracula that defined the vampire back in the late 18th century. Dracula is described as, "a tall old man, clean shaven save for a long white moustache, and clad in black from head to foot, without a single speck of colour about him anywhere." (Stoker 15). Dracula's description proves how he was abnormal and different to humans. He is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What enabled Dracula to become a chilling villain is perhaps where he comes from, Transylvania, an eerie, obscure area with *strange* individuals and norms. Perhaps, during that time , the masses of Stoker's nation, England, were not open to individuals of foreign cultures and ethnicities. The xenophobic aura of England during the Victorian era facilitated Stoker to create a character the ordinary reader would despise, yet fear. Out of the many characteristics that transformed along with vampires in literature, the most profound of those changes were towards normalcy. Edward Cullen from Twilight can be part of a functioning society without individuals suspecting a vampire amongst them. Despite his vampiric roots, he was rather different to Dracula. "Twilight", written by Stephenie Meyer, is a fantasy fiction novel that shows that there may be more than what meets the eye in the small town of Forks. It tells of a seventeen year old girl named Bella who falls for a boy named Edward who has been seventeen years old for far too long. Edward is a vampire and throughout the novel his strong personality traits become more and more prominent. He is an oddity, both a man of compassion and of terror. Edward is dangerous and yet he is filled with a strong desire to protect those he loves. He wears a metaphorical mask to keep himself hidden from society. Through his behavior towards Bella, Edward can be indirectly characterized as protective. The way he stares at Bella show that he is intense and the way he is able to stop a car from crashing with just his hands shows his strength. Even Edward's tone or mannerisms such as shaking his head show that he is humorous. In a movie version of the book an actor would need to capture the true essence of Edward. When thinking of the word "vampire" most people would think that "the vampire is a dark and ominous creature of the woods of Hungary or Transylvania" (Wilson 577). They would possibly say that the vampires in the stories that they heard of or imagined may live in caves or castles. The vampires may turn into bats and that they drain humans of their blood. Vampireshave to invited into a home by an owner and they cannot go anywhere near garlic. If you try to take a picture of them they will not show up on the film. They might believe that vampires are completely uncivilized and animalistic. In many stories and films this was the story that was told of vampires and now it is known as "stereotypical vampires". Today, to keep thevampire genre fresh and new, authors and screenwriters turned the genre around and created new histories and descriptions of vampires. Some vampires are now known as attractive to lure in their victims, the term "vegetarian vampire" was introduced in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight for vampires that do not drink human blood. So many other things have changed in the "new vampire genre". Unless, of course, by physical longing he meant a lot of lip biting, running fingers through hair, and speaking as if vomit is about to erupt from her mouth at any minute. Truth be told, not one of the actors could convey any kind of emotion what so ever. Take a look at the scene from the hospital after Bella was attacked by James (the now barbequed vampire), when Edward tells Bella that she has to move to Jacksonville with her mother. Not only is Pattison delivering the message as if he was constipated, but Stewart made the rest of the scene intolerable. Where Stewart was supposed to portray a hurt teenager who stammers as she tries to convince her boyfriend that she can't leave, she instead makes me feel as if an invisible grape flew into her mouth and caused her to choke and shake as she tries to tell him no. That does not seem like much of a "vivid" actress to me. According to Richard Corliss "For any author of imaginist fiction, from J.R.R.
