3. Research
• My research helped my video game product very much. I took a lot of the
ideas from existing products that are similar too mine and I also found out
important information by conducting a questionnaire. My research was
very helpful, the questionnaire most of all it helped me understand the
suitable type of audience for the game that I was creating. I took certain
ideas from different games and these helped towards the final product for
example the storyline is built up of off many different games.
4. Planning
• I planned everything that I was going to do over the time period and what
order I was going to do them in. I spent a lot of time working on planning in
my product to make sure that when I would make everything it would be
perfect and I think it all turned out well. The tasks I carried out in planning
where things like fonts and colour schemes that I would match to the survival
game genre which I wanted to do and I also gathered images and info of safari
like the age rating symbol and barcodes .My planning involved drawing a
storyboard for my video game to plan it out and then scan it in and make it as
well as this I created a layout plan for a video game case and I got an idea of
what my finished version could look like but I entirely changed it and I'm glad I
did because I think it looks better. My strengths in planning were finding all
the images and putting ideas together so it will make my final product better
and match to the idea that I was going for. My weakness was making a
contingency plan in case if anything went wrong. I could have also spread out
my time more evenly instead of spending more time on some tasks then I
would have had extra time at the end.
5. Time Management
• I managed my time very well and I had everything in on time on there
deadlines. However I chose to do more work on them after there official
deadlines this was for improvements so I could get it to what I think was
the best that it can possibly be. I may possibly work more on these later
on through my course just for final touches. If I had more time I would
have created my entire storyline on Photoshop and maybe even animated
the entire thing. Maybe even added more detail to the text that I have
already typed out.
I created this timetable to
plan what I was going to
do each day of the week
and I stuck to the
schedule very well
6. Technical Qualities
My poster to advertise my
game is very similar too
the poster for the other
survival game The Wild
Eight, it shows all of the
characters on the page and
the title
The game case is very similar too many game
cases due to information and details on the case
but one case it is very similar too is left 4 dead
this is also a zombie survival game.
This is what my game will sought of
look like in graphics around the city and
the zombies will not look like this but
like this
The size and amount of
pixels that I have used for
my game are different
from others. I have used
more pixels and there
smaller and on others it’s
the opposite.
The characters
I had designed
for my game
have more
detail on them
than the
characters from
others and I
have used more
pixels.
7. Aesthetic QualitiesThe final products are very
creative and good looking. The
poster and game case are very
dark colours like black which
suits the survival genre very well.
It has zombies so the hand and
dark misty graveyard relate and
show what will come in the
game. All the characters in the
game look like they should be
there because they too all look
unique but some look evil like
criminals, I used a good pixel size
for them all which make my
characters look detailed. My
strong point was the game case I
think this turned out the best
and worked really well. I think
my weakness was creating all the
aspects of the game so they all
had similar amount of detail.
8. Audience Appeal
I had decided on my target audience earlier on in the project whilst I was filling out
the proposal, the audience will be male between the ages 15-25. This is very
appropriate for the type of game it is because there is violence, blood and its horror
genre type. The difficulty of the game suits the audience very well I think because if it
was easy you would complete it easy and be bored and if it was hard you would never
finish it. My game will definitely appeal to this age of audience because lots of people
play these types of games found out from researching. The survival genre I had gone
for in my game still makes it more interesting to the male audience than the female
audience because it includes weapons and violent themes. My final piece would also
appeal to anybody who owns a PS3 or a Xbox because more people have and prefer
consoles found out from my survey earlier on. My audience will also be Psychographic.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the way the characters have been made from scratch and they
are very creative, for the game case I like how it has been specified to
one gaming console and it includes a good description of what
happens in the game
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
The hand which was created looks rushed more time
smoothening the hand out.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– Very creative I especially like the logo I think it fits the
style of the game very well. I like the way you set out
the game case so that it doesn’t look like a poster
• What improvements could have been made to
the product? Not much to improve but for the
game case the centre part could be a different
colour.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the way how the game case shows the genre of the video game very
clearly I know exactly what it is about and how it may play out. I like how the
poster shows all the characters together so you can see who you get to play as
before you play the game.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The hand which was created looks rushed more
time smoothening the hand out.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? I agree with most of the feedback of the feedback about
the game case and I need to touch it up a bit by making neater and
changing because it looks a bit like it has been rushed.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I do not disagree with anything all of the feedback I have received is
very helpful and good constructive criticism, good and bad.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
After all of my feedback which I have been given about all of my final finished video game
assets I would not like too change really that much about it because a lot of the feedback
was all positive and I think this would be popular and most people would want it. With all of
this feedback one of the things I would like to change is the middle part of the game case to
a plain simple colour just to separate up the case a bit I think it will look better and it would
make a lot more sense because a lot of existing cases all have just a plain colour on the edge
and also I would spruce up the hand a bit because its edges are a little rugged to do that I
would need to select the layer its on and carefully use the rubber tool to get the edge
neater, it is very self explanatory that it being neater will make the game case look more
professional. Other than these I would not change anything else on my final products
because they are already good enough as I think they can be the time could be managed
better in future when making so not everything is as rushed.
