SIX SIGMA AND APPLE(IPHONE)
• One of the criticisms of Six Sigma, or Lean Six Sigma ,
indeed of continuous improvement in general as it is practiced
today, is that mostly consists of these programs are overly analytical,
often mechanistic in their application.
STEVE JOBS
• Intuition, in the form of Steve Jobs personal judgment of what products
would succeed rather than rely on analytical market research methods, is
one example of where narrow definitions of Six Sigma can fall down:
• 99% of the time analytical methods are useful to find counter-intuitive
solutions the ordinary executive cannot fathom, but there is always that
1%, the Steve Jobs, that defines that rule and that LSS or anything like it
not very relevant.
• The problem, of course, is that many senior executives fancy themselves as
belonging to that 1% genius category when clearly they do not, but part of
the failing of many Six Sigma deployments is its inability to understand or
act upon the possibility that the 1% exists and arises in subtle and
unpredictable ways.
Why IPhone Is A Great Marketer?
(1) Hire customer-obsessed, empathetic employees.
(2) Iterative customer involvement.
(3) Don’t try to be all things to all customers.
(4) Create an ecosystem that makes offerings valuable.
IPhone (Apple) Three Main Points.
• Empathy – We will truly understand their [customer] needs better than any
other company.
• Focus – In order to do a good job of the things we decide to do, we must
eliminate all of the unimportant opportunities.
• Impute – People DO judge a book by its cover. We may have the best
product, the highest quality, the most useful software, etc.; if we present
them in a slipshod manner, they will be perceived as slipshod; if we present
them in a creative, professional manner, we will impute the desired
qualities.

Cook deviates from Steve Jobs' thinking
• The present CEO (after Steve Jobs) of Apple “Tim Cook” described Apple’s
philosophy as,
“One traditional management philosophy that’s taught in many business schools
is diversification. Well, that’s not us.”
• “Think different” is basic believe of jobs, and cook use it and leave pending the
head phone purchasing, and saves $3.2 billion and believe in apple’s own
innovation. The latest matter of deviation from Jobs.
• He is just beginning to put his own imprint on Apple.
• Cook uses LEAN 6 Sigma(production is done, when there is demand.)
• Under Cook's leadership, I-phone improves it’s labor conditions in the overseas
factories and taking steps to reduce pollution caused by its data centers and
gadgets.
• Instead of releasing new models, I-phone(Apple) has been mostly upgrading
existing products and figuring out them(i5S = sep 2013, and i6 = dec 2014) to
maintain the market share of company.
• In the meantime, a host of technology companies have forged ahead with
wearable devices, including Google Glass and Samsung's line of Gear
smartwatches.
Also stealing the innovation spotlight: Internet connected
appliances like the Nest thermostat, whose maker was founded by former Apple
designer, Tony Fadell. Google purchased Nest for $3.2 billion in January.
• Although Cook has given few clues about the breakthrough products
iphone is working on, a mobile applications for managing personal
health. A new I-Phone with a larger display screen is also expected in
september to decmber.
COMPARISON WITH OTHER BRANDS
QUALITY POLICIES DIFFERENCE
• Iphone uses 6 sigma at all it’s parts while nokia still using 5S,kaizen
etc.
DRAWBACK IN I-PHONE
• Bluetooth connection to other mobiles.
• Sim card (only circuitry part insert).
• I-phone market value decreases by $60 billion dollars due to I-5 quality issues.
THREAT FROM OTHER COMPANIES
• I-Phone does not hit the average income customers by making categories.
• Loss in I-5, increses market shares of other companies, so
• Now i-phone should improve it’s marketing strategy keeping quality improved.
• Keeping introduce the innovations to users as soon as possible rather after a long
time.
• and I-Phone must have to meet the user’s requirements in I-6.
FUTURE OF I-PHONE
• I-Phone is nearly launching IPhone 6.
• After maintaining it’s market share, I-phone(Apple) will go for
innovation in it’s products, which will be benefit for I-phone.
• If COOK considers upon making I-phone for average income people,
it’s market share will be increased, and then i-phone have not to try
to remaintain it’s market, just innovate some thing new!
CONCLUSION
• It is best quality smart phone,
continuously enhancing it’s quality and customers.
• Due to its useful apps and being reliable hardware and software,
it is becoming an essential part of people’s daily life.

  • 11. QUALITY DEFINED BY I-PHONE • Quality (in general): Degree of excellence against the other similar thing. • Quality (near I-phone) summarized: To what extent, a product’s inherent characteristics meets the user requirements in a standardized way.

  • 13. SIX SIGMA AND APPLE(IPHONE) • One of the criticisms of Six Sigma, or Lean Six Sigma , indeed of continuous improvement in general as it is practiced today, is that mostly consists of these programs are overly analytical, often mechanistic in their application.

STEVE JOBS • Intuition, in the form of Steve Jobs personal judgment of what products would succeed rather than rely on analytical market research methods, is one example of where narrow definitions of Six Sigma can fall down: • 99% of the time analytical methods are useful to find counter-intuitive solutions the ordinary executive cannot fathom, but there is always that 1%, the Steve Jobs, that defines that rule and that LSS or anything like it not very relevant. • The problem, of course, is that many senior executives fancy themselves as belonging to that 1% genius category when clearly they do not, but part of the failing of many Six Sigma deployments is its inability to understand or act upon the possibility that the 1% exists and arises in subtle and unpredictable ways.

IPhone (Apple) Three Main Points. • Empathy – We will truly understand their [customer] needs better than any other company. • Focus – In order to do a good job of the things we decide to do, we must eliminate all of the unimportant opportunities. • Impute – People DO judge a book by its cover. We may have the best product, the highest quality, the most useful software, etc.; if we present them in a slipshod manner, they will be perceived as slipshod; if we present them in a creative, professional manner, we will impute the desired qualities.

With Apple's Beat acquisition, CEO Tim Cook deviates from Steve Jobs' thinking • The present CEO (after Steve Jobs) of Apple “Tim Cook” described Apple’s philosophy as, “One traditional management philosophy that’s taught in many business schools is diversification. Well, that’s not us.” • “Think different” is basic believe of jobs, and cook use it and leave pending the head phone purchasing, and saves $3.2 billion and believe in apple’s own innovation. The latest matter of deviation from Jobs. • He is just beginning to put his own imprint on Apple.
  • 19. • Cook uses LEAN 6 Sigma(production is done, when there is demand.) • Under Cook's leadership, I-phone improves it’s labor conditions in the overseas factories and taking steps to reduce pollution caused by its data centers and gadgets. • Instead of releasing new models, I-phone(Apple) has been mostly upgrading existing products and figuring out them(i5S = sep 2013, and i6 = dec 2014) to maintain the market share of company. • In the meantime, a host of technology companies have forged ahead with wearable devices, including Google Glass and Samsung's line of Gear smartwatches. Also stealing the innovation spotlight: Internet connected appliances like the Nest thermostat, whose maker was founded by former Apple designer, Tony Fadell. Google purchased Nest for $3.2 billion in January.
  • 20. • Although Cook has given few clues about the breakthrough products iphone is working on, a mobile applications for managing personal health. A new I-Phone with a larger display screen is also expected in september to decmber.

  • 26. DRAWBACK IN I-PHONE • Bluetooth connection to other mobiles. • Sim card (only circuitry part insert). • I-phone market value decreases by $60 billion dollars due to I-5 quality issues.

THREAT FROM OTHER COMPANIES • I-Phone does not hit the average income customers by making categories. • Loss in I-5, increses market shares of other companies, so • Now i-phone should improve it’s marketing strategy keeping quality improved. • Keeping introduce the innovations to users as soon as possible rather after a long time. • and I-Phone must have to meet the user’s requirements in I-6.

FUTURE OF I-PHONE • I-Phone is nearly launching IPhone 6. • After maintaining it’s market share, I-phone(Apple) will go for innovation in it’s products, which will be benefit for I-phone. • If COOK considers upon making I-phone for average income people, it’s market share will be increased, and then i-phone have not to try to remaintain it’s market, just innovate some thing new!
  • 29. CONCLUSION • It is best quality smart phone, continuously enhancing it’s quality and customers. • Due to its useful apps and being reliable hardware and software, it is becoming an essential part of people’s daily life.
