Toubou People
The Toubou people first appeared in the 5th century BC, which is when they took over the range and
turned it into their home. They raised their families, traded their livestock, and harvested their crops
here. The ancient Toubou also painted and engraved beautiful rock art that archeologists later
discovered. Lastly, there are still Toubou people living in the Tibesti Mountains to this day.
The Tibesti Mountains, also known as the Tibesti Massif, are extremely dangerous and volcanic
mountains. They extend into northeastern Niger and southern Libya, but they are mostly located in
northwestern Chad. They are about 300 miles long and up to 175 miles wide. With the elevation
being 11,302', they are the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the art found can date from anywhere between 4,000 to 12,000 years or more.
Archaeologists believe that some of the missing rock art could have been up to 33,000 years old.
The animals that were carved or painted were the animals that were hunted or lived in their nearby
are, some of which are now extinct. Some of these animals that are still around today include
hippos, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, and even fish. Some of the new paintings include ostriches and
antelope. Another type of engraving they would see often would be owoza, which were portray
warriors, wearing feathers and they were armed with shields and knives. Some were dance scenes.
Some paintings discovered were over 6 feet in height. The art shows the culture of the ancient
people of Chad. During the Pastoral period, the engravings or paintings showed men herding their
cattle or hunting, while the women and children were hanging around camp. In addition, there was a
lot of horse art found, which is some of the most interesting art. The paintings of the scenes that are
more pastoral are painted with a red base because the red base signifies towards domestication in the
Tibesti Mountains. There is so much rock art in the Tibesti Mountains that archaeologists believe
they have only found less than half of the art that is still out there. Jeremy Curl, an explorer, states,
"There have only been a handful of expeditions to the Tibesti in the last hundred years because it is
so remote and inaccessible. It's time for a new one." He took a trip through the Tibesti Mountains to
view some of the amazing rock art. There has been around 200 engraving sights and 100 painting
sights discovered. Although the paintings and engravings have went through time and weathering,
you can still see most of the art clearly. Rock art is still an extremely important part of Toubou
people's lives. The reason

CHAD In ancient Chad things were very very different than chad is today. Chad's history is rich and
prosperous dating back as early as the 7rd century african tribes such as the Toubous settled down
and started the practice of agriculture and cultivation. The mighty Toubous then founded the Kanem
region which many people of islamic origin settled. The coexistence of these two tribes were the
rock hrd foundation for many empires to come.In the 17th century to the 19th century chad was
extremely popular for the arab slave trade the warring native tribes would kidnap their enemy tribe
members and sell them to the arab traders they would then travel through the congo or saharah to be
sold across the world. in 1960 Chad was taken by the French ... Show more content on

The petroleum trade in chad was supposed to seriously help the poverty rate and benefit the country
but it seems it's done just about the opposite. Even though the oil trade brings in money it has
negatively affected the local people ESPECIALLY the people around the petroleum extraction itself.
For example In the Eastern Logone region that includes the Doba Oil Basin and about 38% of
Chad's population was rated 3rd poorest region of chad despite the hundreds of thousands of barrels
of oil exported. the other affects on the people are endless and further contamination is always a
hazard. There already has been some contamination there have been drainage canals have polluted
the surface including the groundwater used by the locals, infertile and contaminated quarries have
been returned to farmers without being cleaned or secured, rivers have been sullied by oil spills.
These are just some of the environmental impacts the oil trade has on Chad and I think this is a good
example that not all companies and corporations can benefit a country even if they bring in money.
The oil trade in Chad is a very controversial topic especially in chad there are benefits economically
but there are also environmental

The Chad / Cameroon Pipeline
The groups that fall along the Chad/ Cameroon pipeline worked at levels of normal economy to the
degree that livelihoods around these groups to a great extent relied on upon the woodland for a wide
mixed bag of woods items. These chasing and angling groups relied on upon the woodland for
kindling, building materials, honey, restorative plants and bramble meat. All household fuel wood
was gathered from the timberland, the most supported species being Carapa, Grandiflora and Nuxia
Congesta. Many building materials including shafts, bamboo and filaments were reaped from the
woods. They additionally depended on angling extractions for supportability (Pegg, 2005). The
backwoods and the water locales likewise held extraordinary social essentialness to the individuals
who every once in a while performed customary ceremonies around some of these common
destinations to conciliate their progenitors and dodge regular catastrophes. Horticulture around the
Pygmy and Bantu Communities along the pipeline was truly not standardized but rather the
propensity to depend on the indigenous habitat was high (Agrawal, 2003).
The groups ousted by the pipeline undertaking worked at essential levels of generation that their
regular woods were the most fundamental component of creation. These groups couldn 't be isolated
from their common habitat. The start of the pipeline task and removal of these Bantu groups from
their unique homestead basic and word related dynamism that adversely affected on

Central African Republic
You cannot have peace without security and you cannot have effective security without peace. In
August of this year, there was an estimate of 400 bodies that were collected across Bangui, the
capital of the Central African Republic. This number was acquired in just three days and it served as
a huge wake up call for the Central Africans. However, it was not long before another revolt that left
twelve people dead, thirty people wounded, and children were not spared. Meanwhile in Denmark,
reports are showing that they are stressing the protections of civil rights and humane treatment. For
this reason, the county of Denmark is at an all time low of violence and misconducts. The Central
African Republic separated itself from Boganda in December of 1958. However, all went wrong
when Bokassa was elected president and eventually president for life in 1968. Denmark on the other
hand went through a terrible slump when under German control. Innocent Danish people were
arrested during World War II. In reaction to how poorly their people were treated, the Danish
government designed a liberal system for all citizens, including inmates. According to Dr. Robert
Winslow, the final revisions were made in 2001 and today the country of Denmark leads Europe as
far as well–designed security sectors. Obviously, the Central African Republic has a very
dysfunctional security sector however other countries around the globe such as Denmark have never
been better.

Animal Control : Chad And Chad Essay
Name: Matthew Langerman Introduction I. Attention Device–This is Chad before he was thrown
away by his family. He was tossed away because there were bigger more aggressive dogs than him
so he was useless to his owner. In one of his fights, Chad was bitten in the ear. After being tossed out
by his owner his ear got badly infected. Chad was lucky. The neighbor knew what was going on in
Chad's owner's house and called animal control. When animal control arrived, they took Chad along
with the other dogs to the shelter. After spending some time in the shelter, Chad was adopted by his
new loving parents. His new parents took him to the vet and got his infected ear taken care of.
According to his new parents he has "a phobia of men and a big fear of strangers." Chad has slowly
improved and Chad taught his new parents a lot while giving his love back to them. This is Chad

from a shelter like Chad and not buying them from breeders has many other benefits. III. Specific

Chad is an incredible country that has faced many struggles to rise up since achieving independence.

Many woman and girls in Chad are not attended to during their pregnancy, with about 23.7% of
woman being attended to by skilled doctors. The reason their is such a limitation on accessing health
care for woman and girls is because of poverty. Thier are so many people who live below the
poverty line, approximately 80% of Chadians do. Due to this high number of people below the
poverty line their is no access or a limited access to health care for woman. This high rate of poverty
in Chad causes a chain reaction affecting contraceptive prelevance as well as education. Chad has a
low percentage of literacy, about 31.8%, and girls in Chad have a very low enrollment in secondary
school. There are large gender inequality for example per school compilation rates for girls are
estimated at 25%. This lack of education is very serious which has large consequences such as high
maternal mortality rate. But education is not the only serious aspect to this predicament but as well
as early marriages, with marriages being arranged at early as 11 or 12. This problem is a very
dangerous and serious threat to woman and girls in Chad, as well as to the whole

On 010/05/2016, I, Chad Agnew, was working as a patrol officer for the Wichita State University
Police Department, in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. At approximately1415 hours, officers
were dispatched to the Rhatigan Student Center for a suspicious character. Dispatch notified all
officers that they were still gathering more information at the time but the suspicious character was a
black male with crutches. They also said the subject was yelling someone had a gun. I notified
dispatch that Officer Albert and I were out at the RSC. I parked our patrol car on the north side of
the RSC and entered the north door. I heard Officer Smith on the radio say he was out with the
subject near the Credit Union. I observed from across the RSC Officer J. Smith and Officer R.
Faison standing next to a black male all the way by the Book Store. As I walked closer, I could see
the black male with both of his hands up in the air and he was getting down on both of his knees.
When I got to the Credit Union, I saw a set of crutches and a black bag laying on the floor. I told
Officer Albert to stay here with these items as I continued to go behind the black male. Officer

Case Study Of Chevron
Chevron is one of the largest publicly world traded oil and gas companies in the world, based on
proved reserves. It is lifting in oil and gas production and exploration and distillation of petroleum
products, manufacturing of chemicals, and other energy–related businesses. Chevron, in its present
form, resulted from the 2002 merger between Texaco and Chevron Corporation.
Chevron is one of the largest integrated energy players in all over the world. The company's oil and

Trends in the energy sector, including rising capex costs, have pushed Chevron to change its

Not much is known about Chad. It is a poor northern African country. There is a lot of terrorists that

History
The land by Lake Chad has been homed by people since 500 b.c. as stated by
(http://www.infoplease.com/country/chad.html.) Over the thousands of years a trio of rival
kingdoms rose. They were called, Kanem–Bornu, Baguirmi, and Ouaddai. This trio began to
become united underneath the rule of the Sudanese ruler, Rabih al–Zubayr, around 1883 to 1893.
After this the French turned all three kingdoms into a colony known as French Equatorial Africa
which is part of Ubangi–Shari (now the Central African Republic) as shown on

The people of Chad celebrate at least twelve public holidays. Another popular language in Chad is
Arabic. Some of the holidays we have we share with them like: New Year's Day, Independence Day,
Easter, and Christmas. The name that the people of Chad call themselves is Chadians. In some way,
shape, or form Chad is like Sudan. Chad is basically a large plain, with some mountain ranges,
including the Guéra massif in the center.
Army
Surprisingly, the Chadian Military allows both men and women to serve at the age of twenty. I think
that is a good thing to have because they are poor and they don't have many people who would
probably serve. Most of the Chadian military is made up of terrorists. On one of the Channel One
shows, it showed girls mostly in their teens going to Isis. The U.S. suspected that the Chadian
military had something to do with it. As of 2013, the Chadian army ranks at 88 in the national
military ranking. There are about 30,350 people serving in the Chadian Army.

Chad is made up of over 140 different ethnic groups, whose diets are as diverse as their cultural
traditions. The Arabs of northern Chad––who are nomadic or live in the capital of N'Djamena––eat
staples of dairy and meat, while groups in the agricultural south have a plant–based diet. However,
there are certain national dishes that all Chadians share.
Grains
A thick grain porridge called boule is a common dish throughout Chad. The grain used in the north
is generally maize; in the south, millet is the primary grain consumed. Boule can also be made of
peanuts, cassava or sorghum, depending on which crop is grown locally. The porridge is rolled into
a ball and served with any number of different sauces, made of dried fish, meat or vegetables. Crops
such as potatoes, rice and sesame are more common in the agricultural south. A sweetened peanut
and millet porridge flavored with lemon is known as bouillie. A typical Northern Arab dish is known

They are often dried, and Chadians cook them into numerous different sauces to flavor their food.
Garlic, okra and dried pimento are other flavorings found in nearly ever dish. Dates, guava and
mangoes also grow in various parts of Chad.
Meat
Goats are the most commonly raised animals in Chad; their meat is frequently eaten and
incorporated into meals. When beef is used, it is chopped and made into a tomato–sauce dish called
nashif. For special occasions, Southern Chadians prepare tan oul (long sauce) out of meat, dried fish
or beans. Due to their cost, meat and fish are often dried; they're preserved for later use, especially
in the south.
Dairy and other Protein
Milk from cows and goats forms a staple of the diet of the nomads of Northern Chad. Clarified
butters and yogurts are sweetened and spiced with cardamom; they come in all varieties. Southern
Chadians consume very little dairy. They supplement their protein with peanuts and dried fish.

Some people might think that the producers sent him home because they were afraid he would hurt

acting was keeping everyone else from having their own chance to find love. Harrison spoke out and
said, "He had really been verbally abusive to some of the staff, to some of our crew, other people,
and I started having a conversation with him. Again, it was a chance for him to be contrite and a
chance to come to terms with the fact that he had been out of hand, and his behavior was

When Chad and Chris Harrison were talking, things ended up going downhill. Chris Harrison said
that Chad was really rude to him, and he just made the decision right then it was time to send him

Road To Genocide Essay
This essay will review the documentary – "Road to Genocide" where Christian paramilitaries in
Central African Republic (CAR) carried out ethnic cleansing of the Muslim population during the
state's ongoing civil war. At the very outset of this video, a crumbling Central Africa is portrayed
with utter mayhem, horrendous acts of violence and human massacres. We will elaborate on how
conflict in this particular context is accentuated with reference to its socio–economic, cultural,
historical and political factors.
Digging into the root cause of conflict in CAR
As a matter of fact, conflict is omnipresent and inevitable. People's reaction to conflict varies in
different levels, it can be competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding or even accommodating
(Thomas and Kilmann, 1974). In this video, the main conflict is between the 'Seleka' (the Muslims)
and the 'Anti–Balaka' (the Christians). Here, the blatant style is competing from the ends of the
Anti–Balaka, who assertively want the Muslims to leave the land at all cost; the Seleka on the other
hand are hopelessly fleeing for their lives.

scenarios for violence (Skrede Gleditsch, 2008). In the video, the neighboring state– Chad played a
crucial role in overthrowing the president. The documentary also demonstrates how some people

The types of businesses that a handyman business can consist of are including a sole proprietorship,
limited liability corporation (LLC) or S Corp. A sole proprietorship is when it is owned and operated
by the same human being. Some of the advantages of a sole proprietorship is that it is more
complicated than a regular corporation. It is less expensive to start up and can be formed without the
hassle of the tax standards that most regular corporations face. The owners don't have to file
business tax report. They in turn file their business information within in their own tax report, so this
makes the rates taxed on personal income. The owners can hire employees which can help expand
job creation. Their spouses can become employed without even trying and even married couples can
start sole proprietorship together. Lastly, in sole proprietorship the owner is in total control and can
make changes to it at any given time. The disadvantages of a sole proprietorship is that liability is
something that the owner is responsible for and problems or financial problems. As for the taxes, the
owner has to also pay self–employment taxes. There is no continuation of ownership if something
happens to the owner. Lastly, there can be issues to raise or increase capital.

Descriptive Essay On A Concert
Concert Nights
The feeling was chimerical. Seeing these bands up close was an amazing experience.
This summer I attended two concerts, and just thinking about how those bands were in the same
place as me is just something I will never forget.
I've been to concerts before, but I've never seen notorious bands, it was always local bands. This
summer I saw Nickelback and Green Day. I saw Nickelback and Green Day back to back, and they
were both on school nights so I can assure you I was tired the next morning. Those concerts were
the best concerts I have ever been to in my life.
My mom and I have wanted to see Nickelback for a while so when my mom told me we were going
to witness them in concert I went haywire. I've wanted to go for such an enduring time. The concert
was primarily scheduled for June 23 but was sadly cancelled due to flash flooding. I was pretty
bummed out, but my mom was turbulent because she had been waiting for years to go see them in
concert and was scared that the tickets she bought would go to waste. We later found out that we
could still use the tickets, but unfortunately the concert was rescheduled on a school night, but my
mom made it very clear that we were not missing this concert what–so–ever. So on August 15 my
mom, my two uncles, my mom's friend, and I headed down to Noblesville. When we got there we
pulled into the parking lot and saw a car with the name "Lillian" on it, which was to some extent
funny as a result of my mom's other friend was at

The population of Chad is 11,412,107 people.
Chad has been inhabited for thousands of years. In the 8th century the development of agriculture
meant that there were settled communities. However, in the north and east people often moved
around across various areas of land to graze their livestock. The people in the north became known
as the Berbers. Whereas, Southern Chad had several ethnic groups. The largest group in this region
was the Sara (Our Africa, 2015). The people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Independence was granted in 1960. In the first decade after independence northerners were often
excluded from national politics (Our Africa, 2015). Rebellion movements formed in the north, in
particular the National Liberation Front (FROLINAT) (Our Africa, 2015).
Civil wars were also a part of the history of Chad. Civil wars occurred in the 1970s and 1980s.
Between 1982 and 1990, a northern dominated government created a terror in the south. The leader
at the time was Hissen Habre. He was overthrown in 1990 by Idriss Deby, whose party won
parliamentary elections in the following year (Our Africa, 2015).
There were also neighbour disputes referring to the Gaddafi era where Libya took a large interest in
Chad. At one point, Libya annexed a strip in northern Chad. To force Libya out of the country it
took a unified Chadian offensive in 1987 with French and US assistance (Our Africa, 2015). Chad
has also had a long running dispute with Sudan. There have been thousands of Sudanese who have
fled to Chad. This has occurred because they have escaped the fighting in the Darfur region of
western Sudan.
Chad suffers from the overall widespread poverty. It is evident that nearly two–thirds of people in
Chad live below the poverty line and the population remains among the world's poorest (Our Africa,
2015). The United Nations Human Development Index in 2010 shows that Chad was ranked near

Interview With Blanchefort Djimsa
To learn from another that is not like you, that is from another country, gives you the opportunity to
acquire knowledge that opens your eyes and lets you better understand the world around you. That
can definitely be said after conducting my interview for the Cross–Cultural Interaction Report. I had
the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Blanchefort Djimsa, a Food Science major, who is from
the country of Chad which is located in Central Africa. Blanchefort is from the city of Moundou, the
third largest city, which is in the South of Chad. Here on scholarship, he is attending Oklahoma
State University to further his education. Blanchefort told me about his country and gave me a
different perspective about Chad. From the Saharan desert in the North, to the savannah plains in the
central region, to the more fertile soil and rivers that feed into Lake Chad in the Southwest, Chad is
the fifth largest country in Africa. According to the World Fact Book "the country is comparatively
slightly 3 times the size of California". With two seasons, the rainy season from late April to
September (depending on the length of the rainy season which can vary), and the summer season for
the rest of the year, Chad is home to around 11.5 million people. With a growing population the
country has mostly a younger generation. With almost half the population being under 18 years of

For most of the people, conditions are difficult and desperate. Chronic food shortages are
widespread, and starvation levels among young children are high (Ruralpoverty.org). Chad fairs
poorly with regard to the four generic factors of production. As much of Chad is positioned within
the hot and dry Sahara Desert made up of barren land, most of the country is a limiting resource.
Natural resources are limited and or under developed. As there is very little manufacturing, there is
little improvement in improving production processes for turning natural resources into consumer
goods. The labor pool is small, young and uneducated. 80% of the workforce is employed in labor
intensive farming. Just 20% of the workforce is employed in the higher skilled areas of
manufacturing and providing technical services (CIA.gov). Much of Chad's workforce is one
dimensional and not able to be flexible enough to move to other areas as training is limited and the
education system is almost non–existent. Regarding capital, like other countries in poverty lacking
in natural resources, Chad must import goods and is reliant on on foreign aid. Investors are

Geography Of Chad Research Paper
The Republic of Chad is a country is located in North Central Africa, just south of Libya. One of
Chad's most striking characteristic is that it is one of the 48 countries in the world that is completely
surrounded by land. Being completely surrounded by land, Chad neighbors six other countries,
Niger, Sudan, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria and lastly Libya. (Shown in Figure 1)
Chad measures to about 495,755 square miles, almost tripling the size of California. Four
bioclimatic zones are obtained within this country, the Saharan, Sahelian, Sudanian, and Guinean
zone.
The Saharan region is located in the northern part of West Africa and was mainly formed by the
Saharan Desert. This region posses a variety of distinct landscapes being sandy sheets, dune fields,
gravel plains, low plateaus and vast mountain ranges. The average rainfall ranges from 0 mm to
about 150 mm per year. Due to the lack of rainfall vegetation is nearly scarce or absent. The vast
mountain ranges specifically consists of Aïr Mountains located within the Sahara Desert of Central
Niger. The Aïr Mountains extend over an area of 72,00 sq km, about the size of Sierra Leone, giving
West Africa some of the most beautiful scenery. (Shown in Figure 2)

Polygamy And Marriage In Chad
Polygamy is legal and completely common in Chad. Our– Africa lists on their website: "It is
common in Chad for men to have more than one wife and large extended families of wives, children
and other close relatives are the norm." ("People & Culture."). If I came from an extended family
living in Chad, I would definitely not be getting the nutrition I need. Sure, there are more people in
the family, bringing in a larger income as a whole, but there is also more people and children to be
fed and income in Chad is nowhere near the amount of an average income in the U.S. Many young
girls in Chad are married before they turn eighteen, mostly to older men. These older men probably
already have many other wives as well as several children. I do not think as a wife in Chad you
would feel as loved and cherished by your husband who is sharing his love with other women. This
is a supportive reason as to why many girls do not finish school to get an education. Living in the
United States, society has shown us to frown upon young marriages and pregnancies, which I do,
but in Chad that is their culture and the norm for them. With my life here, I would never even begin
to think about getting married when I am twenty years old, let alone younger than eighteen! The
main reason for this is because I would still be in high school, then hopefully college, followed by a
stable job and income so now I would be able to afford a wedding and family. To become a wife in

A Brief Note On Chad Cameroon Petroleum Development And...
In 2003, construction ended on a pipeline project more commonly referred to as the CCPP (Chad
Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project). The main actors in this project – besides
the World Bank – consisted of a triumvirate of oil companies with Exxon–Mobil at the helm, along
with Petronas Malaysia & ChevronTexaco. The project was under many watchful eyes in the global
political theater as it hoped to prove as a model for other developing countries. It also sought to
break the spell of the "resource curse" which "it is generally known, is that countries rich in natural
resources, specially oil, tend to suffer from lower living standards, slower growth rates and higher
incidence of conflict than their resource–poor counterparts." (Auty, 1997)
The project entailed constructing a pipeline which would begin in the Doba basin in Chad – which
was said to contain in excess of 1 billion barrels of oil – and stretch southwest through to the
Cameroonian port city of Kribi. This pipeline measures an impressive 1,070 kilometers and had an
initial price tag of $3.5 billion; which was later then confirmed by Exxon–Mobil to, in fact, cost
$4.2 billion.
Unsurprisingly, the main reward from these barrels of black gold would be a monetary reward for all
the parties involved. For Chad, the revenues were estimated to be $5 billion over the course of 25
years and this didn't consider other potential oil fields. The World Bank attempted to ensure that any

Causes Of Poverty In Chad
Imagine standing in a world where everywhere you look, people are starving. Not just a couple
people, but this hunger can be seen throughout entire villages, it covers more than half a population
of a country. This picture in your head can be seen as a accurate representation of the country Chad.
One of the most upsetting things about the whole situation is that the problem is not going to be
solved anytime soon. While many wealthier countries are already contributing money towards
stopping hunger, people are still starving in developing countries like Chad. One solution is
greenhouse skyscrapers, which should be built in the country because they will allow more food to
be grown year–round, putting an end to malnutrition. Chad, a developing country with a high rate of
undernourished people, has many different reasons for this. With Chad's economy evolving, the
amount of money the made compared to other countries is significantly lower, causing the
malnutrition. Chad's GDP per capita, the amount of money made per a person, is a shocking $2,600,
compared to $57,466 in the United States (Means). People in Chad have a hard time buying the food
because it is so expensive; however because Chad does not have enough money, it cannot help the
suffering people. Therefore, the fatal situation in Chad remains the same. Civil wars, many occurring
in the past 20 years, are another cause of Chad's developing state. All the civil wars led to lower
education for the population

Africa Is Not War Or Terrorism?
Africa is a continent that has many countries, resources, culture and diversity. However, for the past
50 years there is a huge conflict that threatens all of Africa. It is not war or terrorism, it is in the
environment. To start off, the Sahel is spans 5,400 km/ 3,360 mi from the Atlantic Ocean in the west
to the Red Sea in the east. The belt varies from several hundred to a thousand kilometers (620 miles)
in width, covering an area of 3,053,200 sq km/ 1,178,850 sq mi). The Sahel is known as the
transitional region of semi–arid grasslands, savannas, steppes, and thorn shrub lands lying between
the wooded Sudanian savanna to the south and the Sahara to the north. Some of the countries that it
the Sahel captures are northern Senegal, southern Mauritania, central Mali, northern Burkina Faso,
extreme south of Algeria, Niger, extreme north of Nigeria, central Chad, central and southern Sudan,

Critical Analysis : Critical Ethnography
It takes caution, dedication, and morality, among many other traits, to be a good ethnographer.
Adding to this, one requires a passion for justice and just change in the world to be a good critical
ethnographer. Critical ethnography makes its name as a subfield in its participants' need to alter
what they view as less than acceptable conditions within a community. It extends beyond the mere
study of cultures and ethnic groups and their historic problems, into territory that explores ways in
which people are attempting to solve and can solve those problems. The ethnographer must engage
their subjects in manners that other fields do not; whereas reporters and documentarians might
perform interviews, probably centered on one central topic, and leave once they have enough
information to pen a good summary, ethnographers go further. Their jobs entail looking at the one
central topic, but then connecting it to another element of life for their subjects, and then another,
and so on. Ethnographers experience firsthand what their subjects live out on a daily basis, so that
they may add their own perspectives and realize their own biases as far as certain aspects and issues
go. Whereas people in other fields disperse and find their way back home after one round of
discussions with locals, ethnographers stay even longer, subjecting themselves to the natives' living
conditions, engaging in more discussions and discovering more facts and, more importantly, stories.

Essay on Setting Up a McDonald's In Chad
Chad is an ethnically diverse African country that also happens to be one of the poorest countries in
Africa. Chad gained its independence from France in 1960 after a sixty year rule. There are several
national cultures in Chad that are based on ethnoregional and religious affiliations. There are more
than 200 ethnic groups in Chad, and those in the north and east are typically Muslim; most
southerners are Animists and Christians. Through their long religious and commercial relationships
with Sudan and Egypt, many of the people in Chad's eastern and central regions have become more
or less Arabized, speaking Arabic and engaging in many other Arab cultural practices as well
(Azevedo, Graham, and Nnadozie, 1997). The people who reside in ... Show more content on

Due to there lack of money they are forced to eat groundnut oil residue, which is usually fed to
goats, which only cost eighteen cents (Clarke, 2010). Chad's economic performance depends on
rainfall, because of the types of goods they export. Chad also has a narrow commercial base. Since
independence, both Chad's internal and external markets remain undeveloped; therefore, the nation
never succeeded in developing a successful commercial export economy. Chad's economy has long
been troubled by its landlocked position, and high energy cost (Azevedo, Graham, and Nnadozie,
1997). They are also still feeling the effects of the years of civil war they were engaged in. Chad has
poor transportation, inadequate natural resources, and continue to have political turmoil that has
severely stunted their economic development. They are also highly dependent on foreign assistance
to help their economy. Their economy is so bad that they are constantly in need of food aid to meet
the hunger needs of their people. Chad's cultural structures are diverse due to the great variety of
people who live in Chad, and many different languages spoken there. Chad is a semi–nomadic Arab
culture. Arabs make up one–third of the population, and they live in tribes which are known as the
Kishimbet (Rosensweig, 2001). The Kishimet is headed by an elder who is called the Shaykh. All

Ancient Toubou Rock Art

  • 1. Toubou People The Toubou people first appeared in the 5th century BC, which is when they took over the range and turned it into their home. They raised their families, traded their livestock, and harvested their crops here. The ancient Toubou also painted and engraved beautiful rock art that archeologists later discovered. Lastly, there are still Toubou people living in the Tibesti Mountains to this day. The Tibesti Mountains, also known as the Tibesti Massif, are extremely dangerous and volcanic mountains. They extend into northeastern Niger and southern Libya, but they are mostly located in northwestern Chad. They are about 300 miles long and up to 175 miles wide. With the elevation being 11,302', they are the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the art found can date from anywhere between 4,000 to 12,000 years or more. Archaeologists believe that some of the missing rock art could have been up to 33,000 years old. The animals that were carved or painted were the animals that were hunted or lived in their nearby are, some of which are now extinct. Some of these animals that are still around today include hippos, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, and even fish. Some of the new paintings include ostriches and antelope. Another type of engraving they would see often would be owoza, which were portray warriors, wearing feathers and they were armed with shields and knives. Some were dance scenes. Some paintings discovered were over 6 feet in height. The art shows the culture of the ancient people of Chad. During the Pastoral period, the engravings or paintings showed men herding their cattle or hunting, while the women and children were hanging around camp. In addition, there was a lot of horse art found, which is some of the most interesting art. The paintings of the scenes that are more pastoral are painted with a red base because the red base signifies towards domestication in the Tibesti Mountains. There is so much rock art in the Tibesti Mountains that archaeologists believe they have only found less than half of the art that is still out there. Jeremy Curl, an explorer, states, "There have only been a handful of expeditions to the Tibesti in the last hundred years because it is so remote and inaccessible. It's time for a new one." He took a trip through the Tibesti Mountains to view some of the amazing rock art. There has been around 200 engraving sights and 100 painting sights discovered. Although the paintings and engravings have went through time and weathering, you can still see most of the art clearly. Rock art is still an extremely important part of Toubou people's lives. Chad's history is rich and prosperous dating back as early as the 7rd century african tribes such as the Toubous settled down and started the practice of agriculture and cultivation. The mighty Toubous then founded the Kanem region which many people of islamic origin settled. The coexistence of these two tribes were the rock hrd foundation for many empires to come.In the 17th century to the 19th century chad was extremely popular for the arab slave trade the warring native tribes would kidnap their enemy tribe members and sell them to the arab traders they would then travel through the congo or saharah to be sold across the world. in 1960 Chad was taken by the French ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The petroleum trade in chad was supposed to seriously help the poverty rate and benefit the country but it seems it's done just about the opposite. Even though the oil trade brings in money it has negatively affected the local people ESPECIALLY the people around the petroleum extraction itself. For example In the Eastern Logone region that includes the Doba Oil Basin and about 38% of Chad's population was rated 3rd poorest region of chad despite the hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil exported. the other affects on the people are endless and further contamination is always a hazard. There already has been some contamination there have been drainage canals have polluted the surface including the groundwater used by the locals, infertile and contaminated quarries have been returned to farmers without being cleaned or secured, rivers have been sullied by oil spills. These are just some of the environmental impacts the oil trade has on Chad and I think this is a good example that not all companies and corporations can benefit a country even if they bring in money. The oil trade in Chad is a very controversial topic especially in chad there are benefits economically but there are also environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Chad / Cameroon Pipeline The groups that fall along the Chad/ Cameroon pipeline worked at levels of normal economy to the degree that livelihoods around these groups to a great extent relied on upon the woodland for a wide mixed bag of woods items. These chasing and angling groups relied on upon the woodland for kindling, building materials, honey, restorative plants and bramble meat. All household fuel wood was gathered from the timberland, the most supported species being Carapa, Grandiflora and Nuxia Congesta. Many building materials including shafts, bamboo and filaments were reaped from the woods. They additionally depended on angling extractions for supportability (Pegg, 2005). The backwoods and the water locales likewise held extraordinary social essentialness to the individuals who every once in a while performed customary ceremonies around some of these common destinations to conciliate their progenitors and dodge regular catastrophes. Horticulture around the Pygmy and Bantu Communities along the pipeline was truly not standardized but rather the propensity to depend on the indigenous habitat was high (Agrawal, 2003). The groups ousted by the pipeline undertaking worked at essential levels of generation that their regular woods were the most fundamental component of creation. In August of this year, there was an estimate of 400 bodies that were collected across Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic. This number was acquired in just three days and it served as a huge wake up call for the Central Africans. However, it was not long before another revolt that left twelve people dead, thirty people wounded, and children were not spared. Meanwhile in Denmark, reports are showing that they are stressing the protections of civil rights and humane treatment. For this reason, the county of Denmark is at an all time low of violence and misconducts. The Central African Republic separated itself from Boganda in December of 1958. However, all went wrong when Bokassa was elected president and eventually president for life in 1968. Denmark on the other hand went through a terrible slump when under German control. Innocent Danish people were arrested during World War II. In reaction to how poorly their people were treated, the Danish government designed a liberal system for all citizens, including inmates. According to Dr. Robert Winslow, the final revisions were made in 2001 and today the country of Denmark leads Europe as far as well–designed security sectors. Obviously, the Central African Republic has a very dysfunctional security sector however other countries around the globe such as Denmark have never been better. The members of the ... At approximately1415 hours, officers were dispatched to the Rhatigan Student Center for a suspicious character. Dispatch notified all officers that they were still gathering more information at the time but the suspicious character was a black male with crutches. They also said the subject was yelling someone had a gun. I notified dispatch that Officer Albert and I were out at the RSC. I parked our patrol car on the north side of the RSC and entered the north door. I heard Officer Smith on the radio say he was out with the subject near the Credit Union. I observed from across the RSC Officer J. Smith and Officer R. Faison standing next to a black male all the way by the Book Store. As I walked closer, I could see the black male with both of his hands up in the air and he was getting down on both of his knees. Four bioclimatic zones are obtained within this country, the Saharan, Sahelian, Sudanian, and Guinean zone. The Saharan region is located in the northern part of West Africa and was mainly formed by the Saharan Desert. This region posses a variety of distinct landscapes being sandy sheets, dune fields, gravel plains, low plateaus and vast mountain ranges. The average rainfall ranges from 0 mm to about 150 mm per year. Due to the lack of rainfall vegetation is nearly scarce or absent. The vast mountain ranges specifically consists of Aïr Mountains located within the Sahara Desert of Central Niger. • 55. Polygamy And Marriage In Chad Polygamy is legal and completely common in Chad. Our– Africa lists on their website: "It is common in Chad for men to have more than one wife and large extended families of wives, children and other close relatives are the norm." ("People & Culture."). If I came from an extended family living in Chad, I would definitely not be getting the nutrition I need. Sure, there are more people in the family, bringing in a larger income as a whole, but there is also more people and children to be fed and income in Chad is nowhere near the amount of an average income in the U.S. Many young girls in Chad are married before they turn eighteen, mostly to older men. These older men probably already have many other wives as well as several children. I do not think as a wife in Chad you would feel as loved and cherished by your husband who is sharing his love with other women. This is a supportive reason as to why many girls do not finish school to get an education. Living in the United States, society has shown us to frown upon young marriages and pregnancies, which I do, but in Chad that is their culture and the norm for them. With my life here, I would never even begin to think about getting married when I am twenty years old, let alone younger than eighteen! The main reason for this is because I would still be in high school, then hopefully college, followed by a stable job and income so now I would be able to afford a wedding and family. To become a wife in Chad is much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nathan Robin is the head writer for "A.V. Club," the entertainment section of the Onion (481). In this essay, Robin aims to convince his readers that men in their 20's can accomplish great things. The idea of being young and creative is what Robin emphasizes in the essay. It is interesting what Robin uses to persuade his readers about the idea of being young and creative. YouTube then led to success for other men in their late teens and 20's such as Justin Bieber and the Lonely Island. Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim all share the same quality, creativity. That is why Robin uses these four men as examples of his claim. These four men provide good examples of his claim because of how young and creative they were, which then led to success and accomplishment of their goals. Robin's last example of his claim is his own personal experience, which also relates to the ethos of his argument. • 65. A Brief Note On Chad Cameroon Petroleum Development And... In 2003, construction ended on a pipeline project more commonly referred to as the CCPP (Chad Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project). The main actors in this project – besides the World Bank – consisted of a triumvirate of oil companies with Exxon–Mobil at the helm, along with Petronas Malaysia & ChevronTexaco. The project was under many watchful eyes in the global political theater as it hoped to prove as a model for other developing countries. It also sought to break the spell of the "resource curse" which "it is generally known, is that countries rich in natural resources, specially oil, tend to suffer from lower living standards, slower growth rates and higher incidence of conflict than their resource–poor counterparts." (Auty, 1997) The project entailed constructing a pipeline which would begin in the Doba basin in Chad – which was said to contain in excess of 1 billion barrels of oil – and stretch southwest through to the Cameroonian port city of Kribi. This pipeline measures an impressive 1,070 kilometers and had an initial price tag of $3.5 billion; which was later then confirmed by Exxon–Mobil to, in fact, cost $4.2 billion. Unsurprisingly, the main reward from these barrels of black gold would be a monetary reward for all the parties involved. For Chad, the revenues were estimated to be $5 billion over the course of 25 years and this didn't consider other potential oil fields. • 69. Causes Of Poverty In Chad Imagine standing in a world where everywhere you look, people are starving. Not just a couple people, but this hunger can be seen throughout entire villages, it covers more than half a population of a country. This picture in your head can be seen as a accurate representation of the country Chad. One of the most upsetting things about the whole situation is that the problem is not going to be solved anytime soon. While many wealthier countries are already contributing money towards stopping hunger, people are still starving in developing countries like Chad. One solution is greenhouse skyscrapers, which should be built in the country because they will allow more food to be grown year–round, putting an end to malnutrition. Chad, a developing country with a high rate of undernourished people, has many different reasons for this. With Chad's economy evolving, the amount of money the made compared to other countries is significantly lower, causing the malnutrition. Chad's GDP per capita, the amount of money made per a person, is a shocking $2,600, compared to $57,466 in the United States (Means). People in Chad have a hard time buying the food because it is so expensive; however because Chad does not have enough money, it cannot help the suffering people. Therefore, the fatal situation in Chad remains the same. Civil wars, many occurring in the past 20 years, are another cause of Chad's developing state. All the civil wars led to lower education for the population ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Critical Analysis : Critical Ethnography It takes caution, dedication, and morality, among many other traits, to be a good ethnographer. Adding to this, one requires a passion for justice and just change in the world to be a good critical ethnographer. Critical ethnography makes its name as a subfield in its participants' need to alter what they view as less than acceptable conditions within a community. It extends beyond the mere study of cultures and ethnic groups and their historic problems, into territory that explores ways in which people are attempting to solve and can solve those problems. The ethnographer must engage their subjects in manners that other fields do not; whereas reporters and documentarians might perform interviews, probably centered on one central topic, and leave once they have enough information to pen a good summary, ethnographers go further. Their jobs entail looking at the one central topic, but then connecting it to another element of life for their subjects, and then another, and so on. Ethnographers experience firsthand what their subjects live out on a daily basis, so that they may add their own perspectives and realize their own biases as far as certain aspects and issues go. Whereas people in other fields disperse and find their way back home after one round of discussions with locals, ethnographers stay even longer, subjecting themselves to the natives' living conditions, engaging in more discussions and discovering more facts and, more importantly, stories. Since independence, both Chad's internal and external markets remain undeveloped; therefore, the nation never succeeded in developing a successful commercial export economy.
