The document discusses how the creator's media product represents a particular social group through its use of color, text/style, and clothing. Specifically:
- The color scheme of white, black, and red was chosen as these colors are popular among young teenagers and help the magazine stand out.
- Bold text is used for the title to attract attention, and smaller bold text is used elsewhere to ensure readability for teenagers.
- A friend was photographed wearing clothing like puffy jackets, sunglasses, and gold chains that are commonly associated with the R&B genre, to relate to the target audience of 16-24 year olds interested in this music.
- Overall the creator believes their magazine

represent particular social groups?

2. Colour
I felt that colour would be a big influence on my
media product and that it’ll help me relate and
represent particular social groups. I took it as an
opportunity to try and experiment different
colours to use on my magazine cover to see what
looked best and also can relate to my target
audience, in the end I had a colour scheme that I
was happy with and that I felt would attract the
audience that my magazine is aimed at. I decided
to use to colours white, black and red. The black
and white mix works really well together and also
the two colours can relate to my audience because
they are well known but also, young teenagers
nowadays have a lot of clothing that include these
two colours and they seem to prefer these two
shades over the other colours. Most young
teenagers also like the colour red because they feel
it stands out and makes whatever it is look
better, but the main reason I had used to colour
red was because it made my magazine
cover, contents and double page spread look better
because it mixed really well with the black and
white. In conclusion I believe the colour had a
really good affect on my magazine as it made it
look better and also attracted the target audience
that I wanted.
3. Text and style
I feel that text would have played a small part in my magazine but that it would also help
me grab the attention of my target audience. For my magazine cover I used a big bold
standard text for my title, I did this because I wanted it to stand out and capture
someone's attention but also to relate it to my audience in a way that young teenagers
would know they can read it because nowadays there are some magazines that have
either fancy, italic, or small writing that wouldn’t at first glance really attract a teenager
or young adults attention. The rest of the text I used on my magazine was also bold but
yet smaller than the title of course, this would also help my audience understand what
they’re reading because the text is clearer.
4. Clothing
Clothing I believe is the most important and has the largest affect on my target audience.
Since my audience is the between the ages of 16-24 year olds, I felt that I needed to include
a model that my audience can relate to. Therefore, I got my friend that allowed me to take
photographs of him to use in my magazine. I also got him to dress and pose in a way that
will relate to my target audience and the RNB genre that my magazine is based on. I felt
that clothing was essential so I got him to wear a big puffy jacket, sunglasses and a couple
gold chain’s around his neck. I did this because it relates to the RNB genre as nowadays
most RNB artists dress in this sort of fashion and using them to include my work would help
me link the two to make my magazine more relatable to the audience. The model I used is a
young black teenager, I feel this is also quite important because race can also help with
connecting with you audience. As a young black teenager and wearing the clothing that he
was wearing in the photo I feel that when my audience look at the cover for the first time
that they would know what the magazine is about because nowadays most young
upcoming artists that rap and are including in the RNB genre are black and wear the type of
clothing that he is. Overall, I believe that clothing has a big impact on my target audience
and it is a good way to relate to the particular social group that the magazine is aimed at.
5. Conclusion
In conclusion I would say that my overall product represents the youth of central cities as
quite rebellious and underprivileged. This mainly because of modern and political messages
that they show in their image and the way they speak. In many other peoples views this
could be seen as negative but to the particular social group interested in this product it is
seen as something to be proud of. I also feel that my magazine can relate a lot to my target
audience.
