1. Question 2 How does your magazine product represent particular social groups?
2. The front cover of my media product meets the criteria of the social group I was aiming for, because although the background is quite dark it has a lot of bright colours on, which is mostly only suitable for a younger teenage audience. Also the way my model “Kerry Amor” was dressed, was quite different, and a bit retro; which was the style I was aiming for, the make-up she has one, shows that the artist quite like the magazine are quite different, and individual. The mise-en-scene used in the front cover, is subtle. But she is wearing a bright coloured retro looking dress, and the flower in her mouth gives the front cover that bit of femininity helping to represent the young female audience I was hoping for. I chose the name “Loud” because, it’s young and funky, and also represent my target readers, as most young teenagers would prefer loud out there music compared to classical. My model is posed in what seems to be a happy, although kind of flirtatious manner, which is possibly considered wrong for the young audience I was aiming for, but I do think it represents the artists of today.
3. The pictures through used throughout the rest of my media product give off a different vibe than the one used on the Front Cover. This is a picture that I have used on my contents page, I feel that this represents my social group, as most young girls idolise and want posters of male pop sensations, or want to know what’s going on with their life, which is what I was aiming for when I chose to use this picture. I decided to dress him in a smart but casual look. To begin with his shirt was pink, but as in my magazine I made him seem to be part of a duet band. I changed the colour of his shirt using photo shop, to make him seem like a different person compared to the one I used originally.
4. I used this picture as the main picture on my double page article. I chose to do the picture this way, because it’s a bright colour picture. And it goes well with the social group I was aiming for. The advantage of using a bright coloured picture like this one, is that it’s different and stands out, and is certain to catch the readers attention. I’d say a difference with my magazine that doesn’t so much represent my social group, is that my front cover doesn’t look much like the girly pop magazine I was going for, As my mind changed throughout my product construction. But I do still feel that it represents a younger audience vibe for a pop magazine.
