Pornography on the Internet Essay
Porn, its everywhere! Go to any major search engine and you are well on your way to viewing some of the finest cyber porn around. No age
verification, no credit card required, all it takes is just a couple of clicks on the mouse. But wait a second, why is it so easy, was it always like this?
Not really, as we have seen, the Internet and the pornography industry have come together to make quite an explosion that has brought many issues to
the surface. It's a scary fact to realize that 83.5% images available on the Internet are pornographical. And it is even more of a problem when the
Internet's pornography is available to curious children that happen to bump onto them. One of the more drawing freatures of the young Internet was its

Although it is not words, the message is being conveyed through pictures. MacKinnon argues that this speech is causing many women to be
discriminated against and degraded, not just the ones in the pictures but all women. "Words and images are how people are placed in hierarchies,
how social stratification is made to seem inevitable and right, how feelings of inferiority and superiority are engendered, and how indifference to
violence against those on the bottom is rationalized and normalized" (MacKinnon 31). Men view images of women performing degrading acts in
order to gain pleasure. They will then act on these sexual desires with their partners. In other words, men begin to look at women purely as sex
objects and less like people. This will cause more instances of rape and harassment in our society which, without a doubt, is not going to bring us
closer to equality. I don't think this is new news to many folks, but I think now with the Internet more people becoming alarmed because
pornographic material is becoming so widespread. 10 years ago pornographic material was confined to the walls and magazine racks in adult stores.
If you looked young, the clerk would check your I.D to make sure you were over the age of 18. If they failed to do this then the business would be
held accountable and took the risk of being forced to shut its doors to the public.

The Effects Of Internet Pornography On College Students
Internet pornography is an easily accessible and highly affordable form of entertainment for anyone and especially the average college student. It is,
arguably, a very simple and entertaining way to pass the time between exams, essays, and classes. However, pornography can pose a threat to college
students because they do not realize the very powerful underlying danger that is present every time they click "Yes, I am over 18 years of age." Much
debate exists over whether or not Internet pornography is a real threat to college students. Internet pornography is said to provide "the materials for
identity formation for marginalized sexual communities such as gay men and lesbians, challenging restrictive gender roles, or therapeutic benefits
such as overcoming shame about sex" (McKee 2007). Still, there has yet to surface enough evidence proving any substantial positive effects of
pornography on the viewer. What most college students do not realize about Internet pornography is that it acts similarly to certain illegal drugs. The
article "Porn is like a drug," cites the similarities between porn and drug use saying,
As the addiction deepens, users not only become more impulsive, making it more likely that they'll give into their cravings, but also whenever they
encounter a stressful situation, they're more likely to feel like they don't have any way to deal with the stress other than by turning to porn's temporary
distraction. And the more they turn back to their habit, the

The Socialization Of Sex And Pornography
Sex is a pleasurable behaviour made so to encourage reproduction and the progression of bloodlines. Given its positive enjoyment and perception,
human interest in sex has long been evident. Dating back 25,000 years, art and literature has depicted heterosexual and homosexual acts. The use of
language could then be used to represent sexual acts in text, for example Kama Sutra's representation of sensual and pleasurable experience (Bullough,
2005). Jumping to the last century where sexual acts could be captured in photography and then the technology boom and introduction of highspeed
internet, interest in sex could be satisfied habitually and unrestricted (Bullough, 2005). Many people will deny consuming pornography, however, the
omnipresent influence of technology on the world and especially young individuals, constant access to porn has meant that all people view and accept
it (Wright, 2013).
By the age of 11, most individuals have viewed pornography or sexually explicit content, with 64% of people aged between 13 and 24 viewing porn
weekly or more. Generally, sexual socialisation develops through interpersonal interactions (Sabina, Wolak, & Finkelhor, 2008; Wright, 2013; Wright,
Tokunaga, & Kraus, 2016). Due to technological allowances and readily available porn, the default means of sexual education has been through porn
for modern generations. Therefore the norms relating to sexual behaviour and consumption of porn reflect the omnipresent influence of the porn

Essay about The Pros and Cons of Internet Pornography
Dating back all the way to the 1980's, before the internet, pornography was still a very popular and readily accessible phenomenon sweeping the nation.
Many groups have tried to shut down the whole institution for the stigma it has of being very distasteful and obscene. These groups, including
feminists, religious groups, and even the Reagan administration, for years, have been working toward legislation to outlaw pornography.(Suderman)
What they don't realize is that they are actually trying to remove a safe and creative sexual outlet for many people. Pornography can be defined very
differently from person to person. Most people would say that it is simply words, pictures, or videos that they find sexually explicit. In 1964, Justice ...

If they outlaw websites like this, people will still find other places to post them and potentially making them more accessible to younger audience
that it could potentially be inappropriate for. Also, since it is private this allows some explore what really arouses them and they can get a better
understanding of their own body in the privacy of their own home without feeling ashamed of themselves in any way, shape, or form. Some websites
even allow girl to expose themselves in the privacy and safety of their own home behind something as simple as a webcam or a telephone, with
alternatives like this girls can explore what they want to do with their own bodies and make money without the dangers of getting into things like
stripping or prostitutions.
With most pornographic sources remaining behind a screen, book, audio file, phone call or magazine spread, people can practice their wildest
fantasies vicariously through someone else and in some cases this provides a much safer alternative to acting out the actual fantasy itself. With such a
broad range of sexual fantasies around the globe, some of these can be quite dangerous if not done properly or with the right equipment. Some
fantasies use props to inflict pain like whips or chains and then some are very aggressive and can include choking or slapping. If

Pornographic Videos On Today 's Society
Pornographic videos in today's society have become more and more accessible to everyone from pre–teens to older adults, essentially anyone who has
access to the internet on either a phone or a computer they have the ability to access pornography. While most of us think adolescents view porn when
they are older; O'Sullivan and Ronis (2013) found that viewing of pornography begins at early ages. In exploring viewing rates of pornography by
adolescents, O'Sullivan and Ronis (2013) found that 85% of boys and 42% of girls have viewed pornography intentionally. It is clear that
pornography is reaching young boys and girls at younger and younger ages and is becoming the main source of sexual education for them as well
as for adults (Vannier, Currie, and O'Sullivan, 2013). It is a very tight rope we walk when consuming pornography. Often the images and
representations of what the pornography industry views as intercourse distorts our own views of intercourse and what relationships aught to look
like which has a profound negative effect on relationships (Grov, Gillespie, Royce, and Lever, 2011). How deep exactly does the influence of
pornography go? Pornography has a major influence in how we view ourselves, our views of sex and relationships. Pornography is not the only
culprit in this situation; we internalize the messages given to us by media as well as pornography (Simon and Gagon 2003). By internalizing these
messages, we distort how we view ourselves and how we view our

Pornography Proposal
Recommendation
The City of San JosГ© should install pornography–filtering software inside public–access computers located in San JosГ© public libraries.
Background
Pornography is a multi–billion dollar industry and approximately 40 million people visit pornography websites yearly (Logue, 2015; DeAngelis,
2007). Public computers allow pornographic websites to be easily accessed unless there is a filter to block the content (The Economist, 2015).
Approximately half of public libraries nationwide use filters on their public computers (Light, 2008). The ability to access pornographic content through
the use of public library computers has been a concern to many San JosГ© residents.
On October 24, 2007, Councilmember Pete Constant asked for a policy that would install filters on library public access computers in order to reduce
or eliminate children from viewing lewd material (Light, 2008). On April 21, 2009, City Council rejected spending the money for the technology
required to implement the use of filters. The Council voted 7–3 to approve a reminder system for users, which would state exposing children to
pornography is illegal (Woolfolk, 2009). Despite the rejection to use filters, in 2014 Jill Bourne revisited the idea by discussing how the filtering
programs have evolved. Bourne planned to test two new programs, Websense and SquidGuard, which cost a fraction of what they would five years
prior (Rodriguez, 2014).

Pornography. Pornography is tearing the fabric of society in half and the demand for it is higher than ever. Some people think pornography is just the
simple viewing of scantily clad women but it is more than that. The psychological and mental state it puts people in is the worst. Some people think
that there isn't a problem with it but it takes a toll when you don't notice the effects it is having on your character. With the introduction of the computer
and/or internet, the distribution and viewing of these images is easier than ever. The time has come to eliminate the bonds between... Show more content

Today's standard is to somehow "sexualize" maturing girls at a young age so that they have more of a passion for putting themselves out there. Also
part of the problem would be the parents. The parents are supposed to keep the children in check. If the parents dress as promiscuous as the children
then it is not helping the problem. The media also plays a huge role. Current fashion trends and celebrities play into the hand that is pornography.
Some current statistics are pornographic websites make up for 12% of all websites, that s 4.2 million. 90% of 8–16 year olds have viewed porn online,
most while doing homework. Over 40 million adults access porn everyday. It s easy to see with these statistics no one is safe from the hypnotic trance
that is pornography.
It's normal for a man or a woman to lust after the opposite sex but with pornography it becomes unhealthy. This is so because it's all you want to watch,
other people having intercourse with other people. Adults and/or kids escape to this world because they themselves can't have a normal, healthy
relationship with someone. It's easy to stumble upon the material with the internet around but its accessibility to kids it's an easily controlling addiction.
What makes pornography so bad is not just the addiction but the actions performed. It is the sexual submissive, degradation of women through pictures
and/or words. When women called themselves names like "slut or whore" it a problem.

Over the years, society has found ways to record sexual experiences via paint, print, film and with recent technology, the Internet. Society has used
every technological step forward to portray the sexual act. With each step forward this has increased the pornography forum to a broader audience.
This audience is being propelled by a powerful urge to see images of sex. Nowadays pornography and the Internet, go hand in hand. However who is

certain groups might find it offensive. Therefore the issue must be raised with Internet Service Providers (ISP), that would take responsibility for ...

With the Internet not being confined to national or international boundary, each country regulates pornography within its own national jurisdiction.
Australia for example, regulates pornography using a rating system. Since early 1999, any Internet pornography considered offensive or illegal has
evaluated by Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Highest rating in Australia would be "RC" which includes content of illegal
material, such as sexual abuse of children; anything that falls within this classification is strictly prohibited on the Internet. The ACMA, issues rights
and responsibilities to Internet Service Providers (ISP) to regulate the information being contributed to the World Wide Web. However this does not
include websites that originate from other countries allowing a loophole in the regulations. So who should the responsibility fall upon? The differences
in laws from country to country are a major contributing factor. Could the introduction of a united Censorship help to combat the every growing
pornography debate.
With the need to censor pornography, there are many factors that need to be considered. In the past, the arguments involved have always been central
focused upon immoral and religious views of pornography. In society today discussing the regulations of the sexually explicit material, would involve
understanding the principles of legislating against such imagery. Ideas of rating pornography on

Internet Pornography, the ACLU, and Congress Essay
Internet Porn, the ACLU, and Congress
Ashcroft vs. ACLU, 00–1293, deals with a challenge to the Child Online Protection Act (COPA), which Congress passed in 1998. The law, which is the
subject of this essay, attempts to protect minors from exposure to Internet pornography by requiring that commercial adult websites containing
"indecent" material that is "harmful to minors" use age–verification mechanisms such as credit cards or adult identification numbers.(Child)
An earlier version of the law –– the 1996 Communications Decency Act –– was struck down as an unconstitutional restriction of free speech when
challenged by the ACLU; the 1998 version attempted to address the constitutional concerns by limiting its scope to ... Show more content on

Beeson argued before the court that if COPA goes into effect, her clients, and others like them, would censor themselves by keeping certain material
off the Web. "What it's effectively going to do is drive a certain category of speech protected for adults from the marketplace of ideas that is the Web,"
Beeson said.
The government's brief claims that COPA's age verification mechanisms are constitutional because they parallel "state display laws that require local
stores to place pornographic material that is harmful to minors behind blinder racks, in sealed wrappers, in opaque covers or behind the counter" ––
laws that have been upheld by state and appellate courts.
At oral argument, the justices' questions focused on how the community standards requirement could apply to the Internet:
"Would it be possible for a North Carolina jury ... to decide whether a particular pornographic transmission would offend the standards of Las Vegas or
New York City?" Justice Antonin Scalia asked Solicitor General Theodore Olson. Olson replied that juries should be instructed to use a national
standard when evaluating whether online material is harmful to minors. He said that he believed that the statute could be interpreted so that the

Public Libraries Should Not Block Internet Pornography
Since the internet has been available in schools and libraries in this country, there has been a debate about what should be accessible to users,
especially minors. The amount of information disseminated on the world wide web is vast, with some sources valuable for scholarly and personal
research and entertainment, and some sources that contain material that is objectionable to some (ie. pornography, gambling, hate groups sites, violent
materials). Some information potentially accessible on the internet such as child pornography and obscenity is strictly illegal and is not protected under
the First Amendment. Some information available on the internet that may be valuable to some is at the same time perceived to be worthless or ... Show

Plaintiffs claimed that constitutionally protected materials were wrongly blocked and that the Loudoun Policy violated their First Amendment rights.
The court agreed and found the Loudoun Policy of filtering for all patrons unconstitutional. The court held that there were less restrictive means
available to achieve the privacy level demanded by the Loudoun County community than interfering with free speech. Less restrictive, in the court's
opinion, were privacy screens for computer monitors and a certain degree of physical monitoring by library staff.
Congress made an attempt to place content–based restrictions on school and public library internet use in the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA)
of 2000. This act requires the use of some type of internet filtering software for all public libraries that attain funds from the Federal government (in the
form of E–rate discounts or Library Services and Technology Act grants). Should a library refuse to comply with CIPA guidelines, that library would
have to maintain its technological services without the government discount or LSTA grants. Holding to the CIPA guidelines, both the E
–rate and
LSTA stipulate that filters may be disabled or 'legitimate' sites unblocked by adults who request it, but it is unclear "whether libraries 'must' provide for
such disabling" (Anten 79).

America Needs Censorship of Cyberspace
In June of 1998 the country was horrified to learn of the death of James Byrd Jr. He was a 49–year–old black man who had been found horribly
mutilated after being dragged to death. Authorities have charged three men with murder and violation of civil rights ("A Fatal Ride in the Night" 33).
Obviously, if convicted, these men are guilty of a horrible crime, but what if this crime had been committed after viewing a racist website? If a person

He states that we cannot say, "the First Amendment is so sacrosanct that we must stand idly by while our children are inundated with pornography and
smut on the Internet" (Exon 156).
However, those who are against censorship on the Internet believe that it violates their right to free speech. Because the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) regulates radio and television, Internet users believe this is the only available forum that guarantees the open exchange of ideas.
The freedom of expression is a right guaranteed to Americans and therefore should not be restricted by the government.
The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or
abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of
grievances."
In fact, Americans have a limited form of free speech. Several types of speech are not protected including fighting words, commercial speech, libel
and slander, and obscenity. The Supreme Court has three tests for determining what is obscene: "(1) whether the average person, applying local
community standards, would find that a work, taken as a whole, appeals to a prurient interest; (2) whether the work depicts in a patently offensive
way sexual conduct specifically defined as 'obscene' in law; and (3) whether the work,

The Internet is a method of communication and a source of information that is becoming popular among those who are interested in the information

It was then signed into law by President Clinton one week later on Thursday, February 8, 1996 known as the "Day of Protest" when the Internet
simultaneously went black from hundreds of thousands of Internet citizens turning their web pages black in protest of the Communications Decency
Act.
The Communications Decency Act which is supposed to protect minors from accessing controversial or sexually explicit material, outlaws

protected by the First Amendment and therefore cannot be banned.
The Act is also unconstitutional because it does not follow the Supreme Court's decision in Sable Communications Vs. FCC. requiring that restrictions
on speech use the "least restrictive means" possible. The Court also stated that restrictions on indecency cannot have the effect of "reduc[ing] the adult
population to only what is fit for children."

Essay about Internet Pornography Censorship vs Free Speech
The Internet is a worldwide network of computers and databases that has evolved rapidly in recent years. Tremendous amounts of information are
transmitted and are fairly easy to obtain. Although in the past the information available was for the most part educational and business oriented, in
recent years it has become much more diverse and questions have been raised as to the appropriateness of the content being viewed and consumed.
Another issue is whether or not the government should take an active role in censoring it, especially when it comes to pornography, or cyberporn, as it
is more commonly referred to when it is displayed on the Internet.
Should cyberporn be censored? If so, who is responsible, parents or the government? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Supreme Court views obscenity as completely outside the scope of the first amendment's protection, and the Government may regulate speech
freely as long as the Miller test is fulfilled (Simon 2).
Although many may consider pornography to be obscene, by this definition, there seems to be some ambiguity. Pornography is defined as: Writings,
pictures, etc., intended primarily to arouse sexual desire.
Another question that needs to be asked is, does censorship of cyberporn violate the first amendment of the constitution? The first amendment states,
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of
the press; or of the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" (Bill of Rights) The Supreme
Court has consistently ruled that pornography and obscenity fall outside the first amendment. The Internet is akin to commercial network television,
and government can constitutionally restrict T.V., so why not the Internet? Probably because adult conduct that includes sexually oriented conduct that
has been considered by many to be immoral, has been protected by the First Amendment when it takes place in a private setting (Ford, Marrin, and
Esposito 1).

Essay on Censoring Internet Pornography
Introduction
Pornography engages people on many levels. Some people enjoy pornography while others believe that the world would be best without it. Some
would think that a song like It's Nice to be Nude is a cute song that is celebrating the joys of the human body. Others may think that it is obscene and
not worth listening to.
Pornography is highly subjective in respect to what it is, how it is defined, and its merits. The intent of this paper is to discuss pornography in a
historical context and how it affects librarians in regards to its presence on the Internet.

Montgomery Hyde, while exploring the roots of Western pornography, found that even in the Bible "there is an abundance of material in the Old
Testament on the subject of pornography in its original sense of writing about prostitutes and their patrons, as there are also references which are
certainly obscene if not pornographic in the wider sense as it is generally understood today."8
In early Greece, "representations of men and women enjoying various forms of sexual intercourse were even depicted on the bottoms of children's
drinking bowls and plates, so that they could have something amusing to look at when they were having their meals."9 About the time of the birth of
Christ, Ovid wrote for a Roman audience Ars Amorato ? a work "if not pornographic in the strictest sense, at least highly erotic."10
The pornographic tradition continued in Western culture with works such as "the Decameron, The Canterbury Tales in England, and the Heptameron
in France."11 Fascination with the bawdy is also the basis for many a literary classic. Much of Shakespeare's writing, for example, is of "uninhibited

Pornography : American Porn
American Porn Pornography, also known as porn, has been around as early as 30,000 years ago back when Paleolithic people were carving
large–breasted, thick–thighed figurines of pregnant women out of stone and wood. Back in the mid–1600s erotic novels were in print and jumping
through the years porn has evolved through movies and now the internet. (Pappas, 2010) In 2002 Michael Kirk and Peter J. Boyer wrote and
produced a film called "American Porn" by Frontline on PBS. This film takes a long hard look at the attraction to pornography and how it is intertwined
with our ever evolving culture, morals, and who we are as individuals.
Pornography, for some have literally been the root of families being torn apart, people losing jobs, and ultimately engaging in deviant behavior.
Through the evolution of technology the porn problem has gotten much worse with pornography's spread through the internet. Studies show that 40
million adults regularly visit internet pornography sites. To put that in perspective, that is ten times the amount of people who regularly watch
baseball. Revenue from Internet porn exceeds by nearly a 2 to 1 ratio, the combined revenues of ABC, CBS, and NBC. The current estimate is there
are over 4 million pornographic websites representing almost 400 million pages of pornographic material. Pornography is not just for men to view in
the wee hours of the morning but also for women. More than 70% of porn is downloaded during normal business hours of 9 am to 5 pm.

The Conceptual Schema Of Women
Women are seen powerless in many instances and Marilyn Frye details the accounts where women are viewed as second to men in "To see and Be
Seen." Frye uses a metaphysics approach to better understand how people come to power. She gives a metaphysical understanding of how the world
has been determined by people of power, which throughout history has been men. Men have been in authority throughout history and have come up
with society's conceptual schema. Frye alludes to people in power don't want to see people who are submissive. Men fit into the conceptual schema,
women are excluded but are allowed in the schema in certain ways and lesbians are not included. Lesbians are seen as unnatural and are not
recognized in the schema. Their perspective on society is not taken into account, whereas women are recognized but their own perspective on society is
completely erased.
Men in charge do not identify women or lesbian's experiences and view women as a mystery. The conceptual schema lead women to view society as
men do, but lesbians do not view the world through men's perspective. Suppressing a groups perspective excluded them from reality. Men are dominant
and women are dominated. Frye mentions Sarah Hoagland's paper saying, "In the conceptual schemes of phallocracies... there is no such thing as a
lesbian. This puts a lesbian in the interesting and peculiar position of being something that does not exist, and this position is a singular vantage point

The showcasing of sexual matter for the purpose of physical and emotional changes that leads to the sexual arouses and hence sexual satisfaction by
practicing intercourse or masturbation or sexually stimulating activities is called pornography or simply porn. I completely disagree to the title of the

creating sexual misconduct in the society. This article is in favor of women, as it goes heads I win, tails you lose and makes a futile point that men and
internet porn are the only cause for sexual misconduct in the society.
Is internet porn only the cause for sexual misconduct? No. Pornography and porn industry prevailed before internet, which became accessible widely in
late 1900s, they were mostly available in books, rented video cassettes, magazines, some X–rated movie theatres, and on some newsstand. In book

misconduct and irresponsibility. The acquisition is strong, isn't it? But is that truth? Well, after the arrival of the internet porn the sexual
irresponsibility has decreased. As per the data form CDC, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the syphilis rate has been dropped to 74 percent,

The Importance Of Internet Pornography
Pornography is the portrayal of sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexual arousal. Pornography may be presented in a variety of ways. Internet
pornography is the most high–rated, the most viewed and highly demanded in all the ways of presenting pornography throughout the world.
According to thedatingdivas.com, porn sites received 450 million unique visitors in 2013. That's It leaves an impression that no one is watching
when we watch porn and the sites are very easy to access which makes its boarders infinite. We all have seen the terrible damage porn has caused to
individuals and the society and most, if not all of us, knows that this social cancer has to be eliminated. Internet pornography should be banned because
it consumes one's mind, it diminishes values and it drives people away from the reality of sex. Internet pornography consumes one's mind and
activates the same addictive pathways in the brain as addicting drugs do. According to brainbuddy.com, looking at porn releases a chemical called

Everybody Knows Big Porn Is Destroying Relationships Essay
Pornography is defined as the representation in books, magazines, photographs, films, and other media of scenes of sexual behaviour that are erotic or
lewd and are designed to arouse sexual interest (Legal Dictionary, 2014). In 2002, the adult film industry accumulated an average 3.9 billion dollar
profit, and this figure has almost tripled since (Forbes Magazine, 2002). Pornography is misconceived within society as a violent and demoralising
form of adult entertainment, and can be perceived as a negative pot–stirrer for relationships. Whether or not it destroys relationships is an opinionated
question. Regardless, the porn industry does have a proven negative impact on relationship commitment, of bedroom expectations and body image, and

The problem that arises from digital sensualisation is that people begin converse more with technology, than they do with human peers. Surprisingly,
nothing is said about gay male porn, lesbian porn, alternative porn, porn made by women–which, together, constitute a sizeable share of the market
(Weitzer, R, 2011) and helps to decrease the perception that porn a "men–only"industry.
Josh Segal, for Playboy (2014) describes this crisis as 'digital isolation, not porn addiction,' explaining that individuals become accustomed to online
communication, rather than interpersonal conversation with another. Ian Kerner, creater of goodinbed.com defines this behaviour as 'Sexual
Attention Defecit Disorder'. "Guys with SADD have become so accustomed to the high levels of visual novelty and stimulation that comes from
internet porn that they're unable to focus on real sex with a real woman," Kerner has explained (2014). Women partake in pornography under the
ideology that porn is a fantasy for others, but this is not to say all pornography is fake, as human nature will act due course. To claim that all or most
women in porn are devoid of agency, that they derive no plea–sure during the sex acts, and that "body–punishing" sex is pervasive in porn are simply
unsupported assertions (Weitzer, R, 2011).

The Importance Of Internet Pornography
Triggered, panicked, or maybe perhaps shookt, which is a millennial slang word for shaken, is probably the reactions of some of our fellow
countrymen who take pleasure in viewing pornographic material on the internet after waking up to President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to implement a
ban that will remove the country's easy access to many adult websites (Yee). Our country has a wide array of internet–related issues, from cyber
bullying to cyber–sex dens, the wildfire spread of fake news and scams on social media ("Senate tackles spread"), and the horrible slow internet
connection that telecommunication companies provide (Adel). However, among all of these digital dilemmas that we Filipinos face every day, it is
internet pornography that gets wiped out first in the current government's goal of "cleansing" the country of crime, corruption, and immorality. The
MalacaГ±an Palace states that one of the reasons for the nationwide ban on pornography is President Duterte's disapproval of the existence of explicit
videos from adult–oriented online sites, which he describes as lascivious (Ramos). The irony in this statement cannot be easily ignored because
subjective or not, this came from a chauvinistic man with a misogynistic mindset who disgustingly made rape jokes ("Philippines' Duterte"), who is
also a self–confessed womanizer, and not surprisingly a champion for adultery ("Duterte draws"). To simplify this, since His Excellency does not watch
and enjoy explicit content on the internet, then the citizens of this country cannot either.
This abrupt announcement was made last January 14, 2017, ten days after PornHub, the largest pornographic video sharing website in the world,
revealed that for the third straight year since 2014, Filipinos have topped its viewing statistics with an average time of 12 minutes and 45 seconds spent
on enjoying explicit content on the said website last year, beating out the South Africans who came in second with their average time of 10 minutes
(Yee). A report from SimilarWeb, a Data and Analytics company from this year support this information as PornHub ranked sixth in the country's
twenty–five most viewed websites. In addition, seven out of the top twenty–five spots are occupied by

The Consequences Of Pornography Affects The Media
Throughout the last 20 years the subject of porngraphy and how it's portrayed in society has changed dramatically. I wanted to find out how society
views the subject nowadays, how the material is distributed, and lastly how it has affected our younger generation.
My first question was how pornograpgy changes the mind and why people find it entertaining. One thing I found was an interview with Ted Bundy
about the effects of porn and how they manipulate the brain of people (http://fightthenewdrug.org/serial–killer–ted–bundy–last–interview/). After
watching this video its really weird to see someone as mentally ill as Ted Bundy talk to society and warn people about the effects thatpornography can
have. I interviewed one of my friends. She attends college in Moorhead. She told me that although she didn't have an addiction to viewing
pornography, she has heard and known people who have and could possibly have had an addiction to it. She also stated "I don't think it becomes an
unhealthy thing until you go too far and let it consume you. That's when it can become an addiction". Bundy stressed that nowadays and even 20–30
years ago that it was everywhere and that even children aren't safe in their homes because it is so accessible. One thing that should concern society
is that back when Ted was a child he didn't have technology, and with today's technology it is so accessible to anyone and it can be so private that no
one would be able to tell if a kid or anyone was addicted to it.
For my second question I wanted to know how pornography is distributed to people and more importantly how easy it is to access/view it. It
started with the late Hugh Hefner, the creator of playboy introduced America to a new men's lifestyle magazine. Over the years, many women have
posed for the cover and it's quite an honor for some. But in the beginning, it was made easy for people to get their hands on these magazines and
made it easier to view such material. Another person I interviewed was someone from Poland. I wanted to see if globally and culturally our society's
approach the topic in different ways. She said that "It's almost exactly like America. She knew what playboy was and the old time magazine media like

The Negative Effects of Pornography on Society
The opinion of most people today is that pornography is harmless and that there are no real harmful effects that result from it. The truth is, we all can
be affected by pornography, and the sexual messages our society is exposed to. Pornography and the messages it conveys have a direct effect in
shaping attitudes and encouraging behavior that can harm, not only individuals who view it but also their families as well. Pornography is often
viewed in secret, which creates deception within marriages that can lead to divorce in some cases. When one develops a lifestyle dedicated to
pornography, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2) These statistics are proof that pornography does play a part in rape. Susan Gubar, author of Depictions of Female Violation, states: through the
transformation from image to act and act to image, we become lost in a world of mirrors that teaches us to see women as the willing, desirous, and
deserving slaves of punitive masters.
Every day we see ads in magazines and commercials on television that display vivid pictures that are used to catch your eye. This form of advertising
is used because society finds such displays compelling. These images can have an effect on ones attitude as well as their way of thinking, which has a
direct result in the behavioral choices they make.
Another effect of pornography is its destruction to relationships. I have witnessed many marriages break up due to the Husbands insatiable addiction
to porn. This is also an end result for many Boyfriends and Girlfriends that have been in long term relationships. There is a Quote by Naomi Wolfe:
"The reason to turn off the porn might become, to thoughtful people, not a moral one but, in a way, a physical– and emotional–health one; you might
want to rethink your constant access to porn in the same way that, if you want to be an athlete, you rethink your smoking. The evidence is in: Greater
supply of the stimulant equals diminished capacity."

3–4), but on the basis of more elaborate theorizing. Second, why is pornographic realism a covariate (at least in the model tested)? From the quote on
p. 4, it rather seems a mediator. This needs some clarification and elaboration, too.
Gender differences
The analysis of gender differences occupies considerable space in the analysis and discussion. However, a rationale is largely lacking why such
differences need to be investigated. There is sufficient evidence that females use pornography less often than males do (i.e., gender as a direct
predictor), but it is crucial to outline why the processes hypothesized may differ by gender (i.e., gender as a moderator).
Methodological problems
I would like to stress that any research on the issue of the study is admirable, given the enormous ethical, practical, methodological, statistical issues
involved. In my evaluation, I take this into account. That said, I do have to raise some potentially unpleasant questions about the design of the study;
operationalization of the key measure; procedure/ sample; and analysis.
Design and operationalization of key measure
The paper aims at testing a causal model, but relies on cross–sectional data. The paper outlines on p. 4 that the study includes a time component by
asking respondents to indicate their pornography use at ages 14 and 17. Several problems arise.
First, cross–sectional data do not permit causal conclusions related to

Problematic Use Of Pornography
Rationale & Predictions for Study
Rationale:
Research on hypersexuality and its relation to pornography is a current trend in the field of psychology. Compulsive pornography use has been
evaluated and shown repeatedly to have harmful effects. This isn't to say that Internet pornography is without some positive effects (Reid, Li,
Gilliland, Stein, J & Fong, T, 2011); however in the cases of compulsive use, these do not outweigh the negative side effects. In this study, we seek to
explore when the use of pornography changes from casual to compulsive. Problematic use of pornography has been defined previously as use in
excess of eleven hours in a week (Grubbs, Volk, Exlinezo, & Pargament, 2015). Symptoms of people suffering from the compulsive use of pornography
typically include the inability to regulate their use of pornography and psychological distress.
Previous consensual sexual activities prior to unwanted sexual activities have been listed as a post–assault justification by perpetrators (Wegner, Abbey,
Pierce, Pegram, & Woerner, 2015). In individual relationships adult pornography use, unprotected sex, and chatting online with strangers were
significantly related to sexting (Crimmins, & Seigfried–Spellar, 2014). Viewing online pornography was also associated with a significantly increased
probability of having sent sexual images/messages for boys in nearly all of the five countries surveyed (Stanley, Barter, Wood, Aghtaie, Larkins, Lanau,
& Г–verlien, 2016). The study

Limiting Children's Access to Internet Pornography
Pornography is one of mankind's most revered, respected, and repulsed pastimes. Adults can use pornography to relieve stress, enhance their sex lives,
or simply as a means of entertainment. One of the easiest and most popular ways of obtaining pornographic material is over the Internet. The only
downside is that the Internet is accessible to children; therefore, pornography is accessible to children. While adults should have limitless access to
Internet porn, minors should be kept away from this concubine.
Usage of Internet pornography grows rapidly every day. It can be accessed easily enough by anyone that wishes to see the material, has a modem, and
some times a wishful intent. The material ranges from semi–nude photos to videos ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Internet has experienced an extraordinary growth. The number of host computersВ—those that store information and relay
communicationsВ—increased from about 300 in 1981 to approximately 9,400,000 by the time of the trial in 1996. Roughly 60% of these hosts are
located in the United States. About 40 million people used the Internet at the time of trial, a number that expected to mushroom to 200 million by 2000.
How can it be possible to regulate all Internet transmissions with user numbers at 200 million?
Another problem that arises is the fact that not all Internet sites can quantifiably prove that the user wishing to browse their domain is of legal age. An
annoy–mailer can be used to hide the identity of the user. Some sites require the use of a credit card in order to view its contents, but credit card
numbers are easy to obtain. This limitation of proof is being minutely controlled by a number of sites dedicated to helping parents censor what their
children see. This might possibly be the first step in what will protect the American children from viewing obscene material. One such site,

After trying for many years, Susan finally gets pregnant. Unfortunately, a blood test confirms that her baby has Down syndrome, and her doctors
suggest she abort the fetus. Susan has a successful career and wants to maintain a healthy balance between her career and family. Yet she feels very
uncomfortable with abortion. She seeks some advice from Richard, an influential professor of evolutionary biology who has spent his career seeking to
further human potential and minimize human suffering. When Susan asks Richard if she should abort the fetus or give birth to a baby with Down
syndrome, Richard replied that human beings should increase happiness and decrease suffering in this world, and that therefore he would suggest
that she abort, though he also stated that she must make this choice for herself. Richard emphasized the lifelong suffering of both the child with
Down syndrome and Susan as the child's caretaker and stated that it may be immoral to bring a baby into the world if she knew the kind of suffering
the child would experience. In fact, Richard suggested that perhaps the most ethical course of action would be to prevent this baby from living a life
full of suffering. (This scenario is based on the

Dehumanization Of Pornography
It today's society, pornography is a fast–growing epidemic that is evident in families, marriages, and teenage lifestyles. Supporters of pornography
claim that it can be used as a tool to teach students about sex education. However, critics claim that pornography is unjust, influential, and
dehumanizing. Pornography is unjust because it has the potential to break down intimate relationships and marriages. It can also have negative effects
on children in particular young boys. More and more young boy's minds are being influenced by pornography which is leading to misinterpretations
about how to have a healthy sexual relationship. Most importantly, pornography dehumanizes women and it exploits children. Women and children are
being victimized for the sheer pleasure of someone viewing pornography.
To begin, pornography has addictive characteristics and because of those characteristics intimate relationships often suffer. Today, men and women
tend to become addicted to watching pornography and use it to masturbate. It has been proven that "problematic pornography is characterized by a
predominant urge for behavioral engagement, referred to as a craving" (Allen 67). If both parties of a relationship have this urge or craving for
pornography, this could cause their relationship to suffer. The sexual act lacks love and intimacy and becomes mechanical or second natured.
Pornography has been compared to addiction and people who are addicted enable each other. Therefore, there is no

One major flaw of the CDA is that it uses "community standards" to judge what is considered legal on the Internet. Unlike most forms of media, the
Internet has no defined community; it is a decentralized, ungoverned body that is accessible to every person with a computer and a telephone line in
the world. If there are "community standards," to which community do they belong? Do they belong to the communities of the Netherlands where
prostitution and marijuana are legal, or to the communities of Bible–belt American, where family values are top priorities? The CDA went beyond its
jurisdiction by claiming that "community standards" was the device with which to measure indecency. The standards of conservative lawmakers
should not be the standards that gauge the appropriateness of the Internet, and these lawmakers are wrong to assume that their morals are mirrored in
"community standards" throughout America.

Pornography And Its Effect On Society
Pornography is a booming industry which is at its highest peak. With so many ways to access Porn, it is no wonder how common it is to hear the
terms associated with porn. Porn has changed the perception of sex in an ample amount of ways. Some would consider porn to be prostitution, the
only difference is that it is filmed and it is legal. Porn is not something that should be lightly tossed around in the conversation if there is no maturity
involved. It is sickening to know that young kid can see grown sexual acts that portray women to be commodities that can be tossed around.
Pornography has made a drastic impact not only in society, but the perspectives of each exposed individual in a negative way.
The Pornography Industry, according to Columbia Graduate School Professor Rebecca Leung, the porn industry "becomes less glamorous the

Their biggest reason is the endangerment of American children that use the Internet. Children can be endangered in many ways, one of which is
being lured by a pedophile and possibly sexually assaulted. A pedophile is an adult with a psychosexual disorder where children stimulate sexual
arousal. There is evidence that children who have been sexually victimized are more likely to be troubled adults. Advocates worry about the safety of
the American children and wish to eliminate this from happening. A recent example is People v. Barrows, 174 Misc. 2d 367, 664 N.Y.S. 2d 410
(1997): an adult, James Barrows, entered an AOL chat room and seduced what he thought was a thirteen year old girl, who in actuality was an officer of
Kings County District Attorney. Barrows had transmitted pictures of under–aged children having sex, engaged in sexually explicit conversations and
attempted to lure the child to engage in sexual acts. Barrows was one of the few pedophiles to be caught and brought to justice.
One proposal that was struck down from protecting children is the Communications Decency Act (CDA). Janet Reno, Attorney General of the United
States, argued that the CDA was in violation of the U.S. Constitution and laws that would be enacted were clear and undefined. If made into law, the
CDA could severely censor the Internet in ways that were never attempted before. It would filter out anything that is deemed obscene and

Pornographic Pornography : An Human Brain For Today 's...
Evolution has not prepared the human brain for today's Internet porn. Erotic depictions of human sexuality have existed for as long as humanity.
Archaeological evidence of pornographic concepts in ancient civilizations exists in the form of rock art and venus figurines. Throughout the centuries,
erotic literature would ultimately evolve into various magazines featuring nude photography and pictures of other sexual acts. The printing press would
dominate as the main medium for porn consumption for nearly half a millennia until the 20th century, when video pornography was first produced.
Nearly overnight, a seemingly infinite number of porn studios were conceived exploding video pornography into a multi–billion dollar industry
generating more revenue than the music and film industries combined. The adult film industry of this era (20th century), while lucrative, was not quite
the universal phenomenon that it is today. Prior to the expansion into the Internet, lack of discretion and difficulty of access prevented the market from
reaching its full potential. Porn's audience grew exponentially with the introduction of the Internet, shifting its status from underworld to mainstream.
There was a time when the only way to view a porn movie was to trade your money and dignity at the video store in public view. But this idea of porn
consumption being limited to shameless, desperate basement dwellers is now a relic of the past, as the Internet's infinite supply of an endless

This way it is safe and sound behind a password for you and your eyes only. It also lets people that want to get their amateur pictures out there.
The Cons of Pornography on the internet is that it is very easy to get to especially if you have Kazaa, or a downloading program similar, because
they have tons of them on those downloading programs even child pornography. I also believe that this has given a rise to the child porn industry if
there is such a thing. It has also given a rise in things that would not have been done and published in a magazine. Like sodomy with animals, and
things that shouldn't be placed in places but are.
The biggest problem I have with regards to internet pornography, is the lack of consideration for laws in different societies when it comes to child
pornography. In one society we have child pornography when a person is under the age of 18, then we have a society that has a law that says
pictures of people under 16 are considered child pornography. Why can't every society have the same laws or make it a universal internet law that
says child porn on the internet means that any pictures of children under the age of 18, 16, whatever they decide to do. Yes older people that look

Pornography And The Internet
A lot has changed since the R v Butler case that was decided back in 1992, when Donald Victor Butler was charged with various counts of selling
obscene material, possessing obscene material for the purpose of distribution or sale, and exposing obscene material to public view, contrary to
Section 163 of the Criminal Code, which states that "any publication a dominant characteristic of which is the undue exploitation of sex, or of sex
and any one or more of . . . crime, horror, cruelty and violence, shall be deemed to be obscene" (R v Butler Edited 2). With the introduction and growth
of the internet, society has drastically shifted, as it has revolutionized the way humans live. One issue that has come along with it is, with the internet
being so vast in size and so endless in content, it is difficult to regulate all the content on the internet with its borderless nature. Because of this, is it
much easier to gain access to pornography, which is what Butler was initially charged for back in 1987. With such a shift in time from 1992 to now, I
believe that the internet and other developments have changed community standards and expectations, but not necessarily enough so that the criminal
restrictions on obscenity are no longer justified in our free and democratic society.

desensitization with the act of natural sex. I then found scholarly sources to support my overall claims. This speech will cover the following points: 1.)
How Pornography desensitizes the male brain. 2.) How pornography causes its viewers to replicate porn–style relationships in own life, leading to lack
of intimacy. (Detachment from reality) 3.) The effects of pornography have on women 4.) How pornography promotes the objectification of women.
These very small variables play a huge role in weakening the male brain. In addition, I will briefly touch on why woman aren't effected from an over
exposure in the same manner as their male counter parts. The overall aim of this paper is to reveal how this phenomenon effects males and why they
should take immediate action to not become a statistic.
Why men shouldn't watch too much porn.
A.One can infer that most men view or have viewed pornography at some point in their life. According to Dr. Patrick F. Fagan, men are more than six
times as likely to view pornography and spend more time viewing it when compared to females. Most males first view pornography during adolescence
at age 13 and continue watching through adulthood.

The Consumption Of Internet Pornography And Sexual Addictions
Prior to the death of Mr. Collins father, his consumption of Internet pornography and sexual chatting was not considered remarkable. He appeared to be
able to function sexually while masturbating and during sexual intercourse with the partners in his life prior to this life–altering event. Mr. Collins
expressed a relatively normal desire for sexual contact as a teenager as well as desire to couple with partners his age in traditional ways, but after the
death of his father, what normally produced the arousal necessary to ejaculate while masturbating and having sexual intercourse, no longer appears to
have had the desired effect. It is at this time that it appears that the symptoms of depression began to manifest in Mr. Collins life, depressed mood,
decreased interest or pleasure, change in sleep, change in activity, and concentration. As these symptoms manifested, it appears that the indicators of
Hypersexual Disorder began to develop; excessive masturbation, obsessing about sex to the point that it interfered with his life, spending significant
time planning their sexual activity, frequent viewing of pornography or use of sexually explicit websites or other online services including adult chat
rooms, frequent one–night stands with strangers, staying emotionally detached from sexual partners, frequently engaging in paraphilias, and inability to
stop despite the consequences.
Given consideration to all of the known information given to this evaluator and the multiple

Pornography On The Internet Essay

  • 1. Pornography on the Internet Essay Porn, its everywhere! Go to any major search engine and you are well on your way to viewing some of the finest cyber porn around. No age verification, no credit card required, all it takes is just a couple of clicks on the mouse. But wait a second, why is it so easy, was it always like this? Not really, as we have seen, the Internet and the pornography industry have come together to make quite an explosion that has brought many issues to the surface. It's a scary fact to realize that 83.5% images available on the Internet are pornographical. And it is even more of a problem when the Internet's pornography is available to curious children that happen to bump onto them. One of the more drawing freatures of the young Internet was its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it is not words, the message is being conveyed through pictures. MacKinnon argues that this speech is causing many women to be discriminated against and degraded, not just the ones in the pictures but all women. "Words and images are how people are placed in hierarchies, how social stratification is made to seem inevitable and right, how feelings of inferiority and superiority are engendered, and how indifference to violence against those on the bottom is rationalized and normalized" (MacKinnon 31). Men view images of women performing degrading acts in order to gain pleasure. They will then act on these sexual desires with their partners. In other words, men begin to look at women purely as sex objects and less like people. This will cause more instances of rape and harassment in our society which, without a doubt, is not going to bring us closer to equality. I don't think this is new news to many folks, but I think now with the Internet more people becoming alarmed because pornographic material is becoming so widespread. 10 years ago pornographic material was confined to the walls and magazine racks in adult stores. If you looked young, the clerk would check your I.D to make sure you were over the age of 18. If they failed to do this then the business would be held accountable and took the risk of being forced to shut its doors to the public. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Effects Of Internet Pornography On College Students Internet pornography is an easily accessible and highly affordable form of entertainment for anyone and especially the average college student. It is, arguably, a very simple and entertaining way to pass the time between exams, essays, and classes. However, pornography can pose a threat to college students because they do not realize the very powerful underlying danger that is present every time they click "Yes, I am over 18 years of age." Much debate exists over whether or not Internet pornography is a real threat to college students. Internet pornography is said to provide "the materials for identity formation for marginalized sexual communities such as gay men and lesbians, challenging restrictive gender roles, or therapeutic benefits such as overcoming shame about sex" (McKee 2007). Still, there has yet to surface enough evidence proving any substantial positive effects of pornography on the viewer. What most college students do not realize about Internet pornography is that it acts similarly to certain illegal drugs. The article "Porn is like a drug," cites the similarities between porn and drug use saying, As the addiction deepens, users not only become more impulsive, making it more likely that they'll give into their cravings, but also whenever they encounter a stressful situation, they're more likely to feel like they don't have any way to deal with the stress other than by turning to porn's temporary distraction. And the more they turn back to their habit, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Socialization Of Sex And Pornography Sex is a pleasurable behaviour made so to encourage reproduction and the progression of bloodlines. Given its positive enjoyment and perception, human interest in sex has long been evident. Dating back 25,000 years, art and literature has depicted heterosexual and homosexual acts. The use of language could then be used to represent sexual acts in text, for example Kama Sutra's representation of sensual and pleasurable experience (Bullough, 2005). Jumping to the last century where sexual acts could be captured in photography and then the technology boom and introduction of highspeed internet, interest in sex could be satisfied habitually and unrestricted (Bullough, 2005). Many people will deny consuming pornography, however, the omnipresent influence of technology on the world and especially young individuals, constant access to porn has meant that all people view and accept it (Wright, 2013). By the age of 11, most individuals have viewed pornography or sexually explicit content, with 64% of people aged between 13 and 24 viewing porn weekly or more. Generally, sexual socialisation develops through interpersonal interactions (Sabina, Wolak, & Finkelhor, 2008; Wright, 2013; Wright, Tokunaga, & Kraus, 2016). Due to technological allowances and readily available porn, the default means of sexual education has been through porn for modern generations. Therefore the norms relating to sexual behaviour and consumption of porn reflect the omnipresent influence of the porn industry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay about The Pros and Cons of Internet Pornography Dating back all the way to the 1980's, before the internet, pornography was still a very popular and readily accessible phenomenon sweeping the nation. Many groups have tried to shut down the whole institution for the stigma it has of being very distasteful and obscene. These groups, including feminists, religious groups, and even the Reagan administration, for years, have been working toward legislation to outlaw pornography.(Suderman) What they don't realize is that they are actually trying to remove a safe and creative sexual outlet for many people. Pornography can be defined very differently from person to person. Most people would say that it is simply words, pictures, or videos that they find sexually explicit. In 1964, Justice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If they outlaw websites like this, people will still find other places to post them and potentially making them more accessible to younger audience that it could potentially be inappropriate for. Also, since it is private this allows some explore what really arouses them and they can get a better understanding of their own body in the privacy of their own home without feeling ashamed of themselves in any way, shape, or form. Some websites even allow girl to expose themselves in the privacy and safety of their own home behind something as simple as a webcam or a telephone, with alternatives like this girls can explore what they want to do with their own bodies and make money without the dangers of getting into things like stripping or prostitutions. With most pornographic sources remaining behind a screen, book, audio file, phone call or magazine spread, people can practice their wildest fantasies vicariously through someone else and in some cases this provides a much safer alternative to acting out the actual fantasy itself. With such a broad range of sexual fantasies around the globe, some of these can be quite dangerous if not done properly or with the right equipment. Some fantasies use props to inflict pain like whips or chains and then some are very aggressive and can include choking or slapping. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pornographic Videos On Today 's Society Pornographic videos in today's society have become more and more accessible to everyone from pre–teens to older adults, essentially anyone who has access to the internet on either a phone or a computer they have the ability to access pornography. While most of us think adolescents view porn when they are older; O'Sullivan and Ronis (2013) found that viewing of pornography begins at early ages. In exploring viewing rates of pornography by adolescents, O'Sullivan and Ronis (2013) found that 85% of boys and 42% of girls have viewed pornography intentionally. It is clear that pornography is reaching young boys and girls at younger and younger ages and is becoming the main source of sexual education for them as well as for adults (Vannier, Currie, and O'Sullivan, 2013). It is a very tight rope we walk when consuming pornography. Often the images and representations of what the pornography industry views as intercourse distorts our own views of intercourse and what relationships aught to look like which has a profound negative effect on relationships (Grov, Gillespie, Royce, and Lever, 2011). How deep exactly does the influence of pornography go? Pornography has a major influence in how we view ourselves, our views of sex and relationships. Pornography is not the only culprit in this situation; we internalize the messages given to us by media as well as pornography (Simon and Gagon 2003). By internalizing these messages, we distort how we view ourselves and how we view our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Pornography Proposal Recommendation The City of San JosГ© should install pornography–filtering software inside public–access computers located in San JosГ© public libraries. Background Pornography is a multi–billion dollar industry and approximately 40 million people visit pornography websites yearly (Logue, 2015; DeAngelis, 2007). Public computers allow pornographic websites to be easily accessed unless there is a filter to block the content (The Economist, 2015). Approximately half of public libraries nationwide use filters on their public computers (Light, 2008). The ability to access pornographic content through the use of public library computers has been a concern to many San JosГ© residents. On October 24, 2007, Councilmember Pete Constant asked for a policy that would install filters on library public access computers in order to reduce or eliminate children from viewing lewd material (Light, 2008). On April 21, 2009, City Council rejected spending the money for the technology required to implement the use of filters. The Council voted 7–3 to approve a reminder system for users, which would state exposing children to pornography is illegal (Woolfolk, 2009). Despite the rejection to use filters, in 2014 Jill Bourne revisited the idea by discussing how the filtering programs have evolved. Bourne planned to test two new programs, Websense and SquidGuard, which cost a fraction of what they would five years prior (Rodriguez, 2014). • 7. Essay on The Negative Consequences of Pornography It's a multi billion dollar industry, it easily accessible by adults and adolescents, its addiction rate is very high. Its not video games or cigarettes it's Pornography. Pornography is tearing the fabric of society in half and the demand for it is higher than ever. Some people think pornography is just the simple viewing of scantily clad women but it is more than that. The psychological and mental state it puts people in is the worst. Some people think that there isn't a problem with it but it takes a toll when you don't notice the effects it is having on your character. With the introduction of the computer and/or internet, the distribution and viewing of these images is easier than ever. The time has come to eliminate the bonds between... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today's standard is to somehow "sexualize" maturing girls at a young age so that they have more of a passion for putting themselves out there. Also part of the problem would be the parents. The parents are supposed to keep the children in check. If the parents dress as promiscuous as the children then it is not helping the problem. The media also plays a huge role. Current fashion trends and celebrities play into the hand that is pornography. Some current statistics are pornographic websites make up for 12% of all websites, that s 4.2 million. 90% of 8–16 year olds have viewed porn online, most while doing homework. Over 40 million adults access porn everyday. It s easy to see with these statistics no one is safe from the hypnotic trance that is pornography. It's normal for a man or a woman to lust after the opposite sex but with pornography it becomes unhealthy. This is so because it's all you want to watch, other people having intercourse with other people. Adults and/or kids escape to this world because they themselves can't have a normal, healthy relationship with someone. It's easy to stumble upon the material with the internet around but its accessibility to kids it's an easily controlling addiction. What makes pornography so bad is not just the addiction but the actions performed. It is the sexual submissive, degradation of women through pictures and/or words. When women called themselves names like "slut or whore" it a problem. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Society has used every technological step forward to portray the sexual act. With each step forward this has increased the pornography forum to a broader audience. This audience is being propelled by a powerful urge to see images of sex. Nowadays pornography and the Internet, go hand in hand. With the Internet not being confined to national or international boundary, each country regulates pornography within its own national jurisdiction. Australia for example, regulates pornography using a rating system. Since early 1999, any Internet pornography considered offensive or illegal has evaluated by Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Highest rating in Australia would be "RC" which includes content of illegal material, such as sexual abuse of children; anything that falls within this classification is strictly prohibited on the Internet. The ACMA, issues rights and responsibilities to Internet Service Providers (ISP) to regulate the information being contributed to the World Wide Web. However this does not include websites that originate from other countries allowing a loophole in the regulations. So who should the responsibility fall upon? The differences in laws from country to country are a major contributing factor. Could the introduction of a united Censorship help to combat the every growing pornography debate. With the need to censor pornography, there are many factors that need to be considered. The government's brief claims that COPA's age verification mechanisms are constitutional because they parallel "state display laws that require local stores to place pornographic material that is harmful to minors behind blinder racks, in sealed wrappers, in opaque covers or behind the counter" –– laws that have been upheld by state and appellate courts. Less restrictive, in the court's opinion, were privacy screens for computer monitors and a certain degree of physical monitoring by library staff. Congress made an attempt to place content–based restrictions on school and public library internet use in the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) of 2000. This act requires the use of some type of internet filtering software for all public libraries that attain funds from the Federal government (in the form of E–rate discounts or Library Services and Technology Act grants). Should a library refuse to comply with CIPA guidelines, that library would have to maintain its technological services without the government discount or LSTA grants. Because the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates radio and television, Internet users believe this is the only available forum that guarantees the open exchange of ideas. The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." In fact, Americans have a limited form of free speech. Several types of speech are not protected including fighting words, commercial speech, libel and slander, and obscenity. The Supreme Court has three tests for determining what is obscene: "(1) whether the average person, applying local community standards, would find that a work, taken as a whole, appeals to a prurient interest; (2) whether the work depicts in a patently offensive way sexual conduct specifically defined as 'obscene' in law; and (3) whether the work, ... Although many may consider pornography to be obscene, by this definition, there seems to be some ambiguity. Pornography is defined as: Writings, pictures, etc., intended primarily to arouse sexual desire. Another question that needs to be asked is, does censorship of cyberporn violate the first amendment of the constitution? The first amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" (Bill of Rights) The Supreme Court has consistently ruled that pornography and obscenity fall outside the first amendment. The Internet is akin to commercial network television, and government can constitutionally restrict T.V., so why not the Internet? Frye uses a metaphysics approach to better understand how people come to power. She gives a metaphysical understanding of how the world has been determined by people of power, which throughout history has been men. Men have been in authority throughout history and have come up with society's conceptual schema. Frye alludes to people in power don't want to see people who are submissive. Men fit into the conceptual schema, women are excluded but are allowed in the schema in certain ways and lesbians are not included. Lesbians are seen as unnatural and are not recognized in the schema. Their perspective on society is not taken into account, whereas women are recognized but their own perspective on society is completely erased. Men in charge do not identify women or lesbian's experiences and view women as a mystery. The conceptual schema lead women to view society as men do, but lesbians do not view the world through men's perspective. Suppressing a groups perspective excluded them from reality. Men are dominant and women are dominated. Frye mentions Sarah Hoagland's paper saying, "In the conceptual schemes of phallocracies... there is no such thing as a lesbian. The Importance Of Internet Pornography Triggered, panicked, or maybe perhaps shookt, which is a millennial slang word for shaken, is probably the reactions of some of our fellow countrymen who take pleasure in viewing pornographic material on the internet after waking up to President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to implement a ban that will remove the country's easy access to many adult websites (Yee). Our country has a wide array of internet–related issues, from cyber bullying to cyber–sex dens, the wildfire spread of fake news and scams on social media ("Senate tackles spread"), and the horrible slow internet connection that telecommunication companies provide (Adel). However, among all of these digital dilemmas that we Filipinos face every day, it is internet pornography that gets wiped out first in the current government's goal of "cleansing" the country of crime, corruption, and immorality. The MalacaГ±an Palace states that one of the reasons for the nationwide ban on pornography is President Duterte's disapproval of the existence of explicit videos from adult–oriented online sites, which he describes as lascivious (Ramos). The irony in this statement cannot be easily ignored because subjective or not, this came from a chauvinistic man with a misogynistic mindset who disgustingly made rape jokes ("Philippines' Duterte"), who is also a self–confessed womanizer, and not surprisingly a champion for adultery ("Duterte draws"). To simplify this, since His Excellency does not watch and enjoy explicit content on the internet, then the citizens of this country cannot either. I wanted to find out how society views the subject nowadays, how the material is distributed, and lastly how it has affected our younger generation. My first question was how pornograpgy changes the mind and why people find it entertaining. One thing I found was an interview with Ted Bundy about the effects of porn and how they manipulate the brain of people (http://fightthenewdrug.org/serial–killer–ted–bundy–last–interview/). After watching this video its really weird to see someone as mentally ill as Ted Bundy talk to society and warn people about the effects thatpornography can have. I interviewed one of my friends. She attends college in Moorhead. She told me that although she didn't have an addiction to viewing pornography, she has heard and known people who have and could possibly have had an addiction to it. She also stated "I don't think it becomes an unhealthy thing until you go too far and let it consume you. That's when it can become an addiction". Bundy stressed that nowadays and even 20–30 years ago that it was everywhere and that even children aren't safe in their homes because it is so accessible. One thing that should concern society is that back when Ted was a child he didn't have technology, and with today's technology it is so accessible to anyone and it can be so private that no one would be able to tell if a kid or anyone was addicted to it. For my second question I wanted to know how pornography is distributed to people and more importantly how easy it is to access/view it. It started with the late Hugh Hefner, the creator of playboy introduced America to a new men's lifestyle magazine. Over the years, many women have posed for the cover and it's quite an honor for some. But in the beginning, it was made easy for people to get their hands on these magazines and made it easier to view such material. Another person I interviewed was someone from Poland. The truth is, we all can be affected by pornography, and the sexual messages our society is exposed to. Pornography and the messages it conveys have a direct effect in shaping attitudes and encouraging behavior that can harm, not only individuals who view it but also their families as well. Susan Gubar, author of Depictions of Female Violation, states: through the transformation from image to act and act to image, we become lost in a world of mirrors that teaches us to see women as the willing, desirous, and deserving slaves of punitive masters. Every day we see ads in magazines and commercials on television that display vivid pictures that are used to catch your eye. This form of advertising is used because society finds such displays compelling. These images can have an effect on ones attitude as well as their way of thinking, which has a direct result in the behavioral choices they make. Another effect of pornography is its destruction to relationships. I have witnessed many marriages break up due to the Husbands insatiable addiction to porn. This is also an end result for many Boyfriends and Girlfriends that have been in long term relationships. There is a Quote by Naomi Wolfe: "The reason to turn off the porn might become, to thoughtful people, not a moral one but, in a way, a physical– and emotional–health one; you might want to rethink your constant access to porn in the same way that, if you want to be an athlete, you rethink your smoking. Gender differences The analysis of gender differences occupies considerable space in the analysis and discussion. However, a rationale is largely lacking why such differences need to be investigated. There is sufficient evidence that females use pornography less often than males do (i.e., gender as a direct predictor), but it is crucial to outline why the processes hypothesized may differ by gender (i.e., gender as a moderator). In this study, we seek to explore when the use of pornography changes from casual to compulsive. Problematic use of pornography has been defined previously as use in excess of eleven hours in a week (Grubbs, Volk, Exlinezo, & Pargament, 2015). Symptoms of people suffering from the compulsive use of pornography typically include the inability to regulate their use of pornography and psychological distress. Previous consensual sexual activities prior to unwanted sexual activities have been listed as a post–assault justification by perpetrators (Wegner, Abbey, Pierce, Pegram, & Woerner, 2015). In individual relationships adult pornography use, unprotected sex, and chatting online with strangers were significantly related to sexting (Crimmins, & Seigfried–Spellar, 2014). Viewing online pornography was also associated with a significantly increased probability of having sent sexual images/messages for boys in nearly all of the five countries surveyed (Stanley, Barter, Wood, Aghtaie, Larkins, Lanau, & Г–verlien, 2016). • 31. Limiting Children's Access to Internet Pornography Pornography is one of mankind's most revered, respected, and repulsed pastimes. Adults can use pornography to relieve stress, enhance their sex lives, or simply as a means of entertainment. One of the easiest and most popular ways of obtaining pornographic material is over the Internet. The only downside is that the Internet is accessible to children; therefore, pornography is accessible to children. While adults should have limitless access to Internet porn, minors should be kept away from this concubine. Usage of Internet pornography grows rapidly every day. The number of host computersВ—those that store information and relay communicationsВ—increased from about 300 in 1981 to approximately 9,400,000 by the time of the trial in 1996. Roughly 60% of these hosts are located in the United States. An annoy–mailer can be used to hide the identity of the user. Some sites require the use of a credit card in order to view its contents, but credit card numbers are easy to obtain. This limitation of proof is being minutely controlled by a number of sites dedicated to helping parents censor what their children see. This might possibly be the first step in what will protect the American children from viewing obscene material. One such site, Mcgruff.com, gives Internet safety tips for parents. Abortion After trying for many years, Susan finally gets pregnant. Unfortunately, a blood test confirms that her baby has Down syndrome, and her doctors suggest she abort the fetus. Susan has a successful career and wants to maintain a healthy balance between her career and family. Yet she feels very uncomfortable with abortion. She seeks some advice from Richard, an influential professor of evolutionary biology who has spent his career seeking to further human potential and minimize human suffering. When Susan asks Richard if she should abort the fetus or give birth to a baby with Down syndrome, Richard replied that human beings should increase happiness and decrease suffering in this world, and that therefore he would suggest that she abort, though he also stated that she must make this choice for herself. Richard emphasized the lifelong suffering of both the child with Down syndrome and Susan as the child's caretaker and stated that it may be immoral to bring a baby into the world if she knew the kind of suffering the child would experience. In fact, Richard suggested that perhaps the most ethical course of action would be to prevent this baby from living a life full of suffering. (This scenario is based on the ... • 33. Dehumanization Of Pornography It today's society, pornography is a fast–growing epidemic that is evident in families, marriages, and teenage lifestyles. Supporters of pornography claim that it can be used as a tool to teach students about sex education. However, critics claim that pornography is unjust, influential, and dehumanizing. Pornography is unjust because it has the potential to break down intimate relationships and marriages. It can also have negative effects on children in particular young boys. More and more young boy's minds are being influenced by pornography which is leading to misinterpretations about how to have a healthy sexual relationship. Most importantly, pornography dehumanizes women and it exploits children. Women and children are being victimized for the sheer pleasure of someone viewing pornography. To begin, pornography has addictive characteristics and because of those characteristics intimate relationships often suffer. Today, men and women tend to become addicted to watching pornography and use it to masturbate. It has been proven that "problematic pornography is characterized by a predominant urge for behavioral engagement, referred to as a craving" (Allen 67). If both parties of a relationship have this urge or craving for pornography, this could cause their relationship to suffer. The sexual act lacks love and intimacy and becomes mechanical or second natured. Pornography has been compared to addiction and people who are addicted enable each other. Therefore, there is no ... With the recent proliferation of online pornography, possible social ramifications of sexually explicit material on uncontrolled mediums have become the subjects of intense debate. Proponents of a liberal approach toward pornography argue that access to online smut is a constitutionally protected freedom and "a harmless diversion that serves to satisfy curiosity and relieve sexual tensions.5" Opponents of this view are particularly concerned with the social effects of online pornography and its effect on the values and morals of minors who can access pornographic images. One major flaw of the CDA is that it uses "community standards" to judge what is considered legal on the Internet. Unlike most forms of media, the Internet has no defined community; it is a decentralized, ungoverned body that is accessible to every person with a computer and a telephone line in the world. If there are "community standards," to which community do they belong? Do they belong to the communities of the Netherlands where prostitution and marijuana are legal, or to the communities of Bible–belt American, where family values are top priorities? The CDA went beyond its jurisdiction by claiming that "community standards" was the device with which to measure indecency. The standards of conservative lawmakers should not be the standards that gauge the appropriateness of the Internet, and these lawmakers are wrong to assume that their morals are mirrored in "community standards" throughout America. Porn is not something that should be lightly tossed around in the conversation if there is no maturity involved. It is sickening to know that young kid can see grown sexual acts that portray women to be commodities that can be tossed around. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their biggest reason is the endangerment of American children that use the Internet. Children can be endangered in many ways, one of which is being lured by a pedophile and possibly sexually assaulted. A pedophile is an adult with a psychosexual disorder where children stimulate sexual arousal. There is evidence that children who have been sexually victimized are more likely to be troubled adults. Advocates worry about the safety of the American children and wish to eliminate this from happening. A recent example is People v. Barrows, 174 Misc. 2d 367, 664 N.Y.S. 2d 410 (1997): an adult, James Barrows, entered an AOL chat room and seduced what he thought was a thirteen year old girl, who in actuality was an officer of Kings County District Attorney. Barrows had transmitted pictures of under–aged children having sex, engaged in sexually explicit conversations and attempted to lure the child to engage in sexual acts. Barrows was one of the few pedophiles to be caught and brought to justice. One proposal that was struck down from protecting children is the Communications Decency Act (CDA). Janet Reno, Attorney General of the United States, argued that the CDA was in violation of the U.S. Constitution and laws that would be enacted were clear and undefined. If made into law, the CDA could severely censor the Internet in ways that were never attempted before. It would filter out anything that is deemed obscene and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Throughout the centuries, erotic literature would ultimately evolve into various magazines featuring nude photography and pictures of other sexual acts. The printing press would dominate as the main medium for porn consumption for nearly half a millennia until the 20th century, when video pornography was first produced. Nearly overnight, a seemingly infinite number of porn studios were conceived exploding video pornography into a multi–billion dollar industry generating more revenue than the music and film industries combined. The adult film industry of this era (20th century), while lucrative, was not quite the universal phenomenon that it is today. Prior to the expansion into the Internet, lack of discretion and difficulty of access prevented the market from reaching its full potential. Porn's audience grew exponentially with the introduction of the Internet, shifting its status from underworld to mainstream. There was a time when the only way to view a porn movie was to trade your money and dignity at the video store in public view. But this idea of porn consumption being limited to shameless, desperate basement dwellers is now a relic of the past, as the Internet's infinite supply of an endless ... • 43. Pornography And The Internet A lot has changed since the R v Butler case that was decided back in 1992, when Donald Victor Butler was charged with various counts of selling obscene material, possessing obscene material for the purpose of distribution or sale, and exposing obscene material to public view, contrary to Section 163 of the Criminal Code, which states that "any publication a dominant characteristic of which is the undue exploitation of sex, or of sex and any one or more of . . . crime, horror, cruelty and violence, shall be deemed to be obscene" (R v Butler Edited 2). With the introduction and growth of the internet, society has drastically shifted, as it has revolutionized the way humans live. One issue that has come along with it is, with the internet being so vast in size and so endless in content, it is difficult to regulate all the content on the internet with its borderless nature. Because of this, is it much easier to gain access to pornography, which is what Butler was initially charged for back in 1987. With such a shift in time from 1992 to now, I believe that the internet and other developments have changed community standards and expectations, but not necessarily enough so that the criminal restrictions on obscenity are no longer justified in our free and democratic society. The Effects Of Pornography On Men And Women The following speech focuses on how prolonged exposure to porn affects men and women, more specifically how it affects the hypothalamus in the male brain. Men watch more porn than woman so I first hypothesized that this difference in viewing weakens the hypothalamus and in turn leads to desensitization with the act of natural sex. I then found scholarly sources to support my overall claims. This speech will cover the following points: 1.) How Pornography desensitizes the male brain. 2.) How pornography causes its viewers to replicate porn–style relationships in own life, leading to lack of intimacy. (Detachment from reality) 3.) The effects of pornography have on women 4.) How pornography promotes the objectification of women. These very small variables play a huge role in weakening the male brain. The Consumption Of Internet Pornography And Sexual Addictions Prior to the death of Mr. Collins father, his consumption of Internet pornography and sexual chatting was not considered remarkable. He appeared to be able to function sexually while masturbating and during sexual intercourse with the partners in his life prior to this life–altering event. Mr. Collins expressed a relatively normal desire for sexual contact as a teenager as well as desire to couple with partners his age in traditional ways, but after the death of his father, what normally produced the arousal necessary to ejaculate while masturbating and having sexual intercourse, no longer appears to have had the desired effect. It is at this time that it appears that the symptoms of depression began to manifest in Mr. Collins life, depressed mood, decreased interest or pleasure, change in sleep, change in activity, and concentration. As these symptoms manifested, it appears that the indicators of Hypersexual Disorder began to develop; excessive masturbation, obsessing about sex to the point that it interfered with his life, spending significant time planning their sexual activity, frequent viewing of pornography or use of sexually explicit websites or other online services including adult chat rooms, frequent one–night stands with strangers, staying emotionally detached from sexual partners, frequently engaging in paraphilias, and inability to stop despite the consequences.
