Existing Product
The main image of 21 savage makes him look
powerful and strong. The simple layout plan also
helps to grip in the audience as the writing “ISSA” is
easy to read. The theme which is being used in this
album cover would be wealth. This is because he is
showing of his money and the trees and hills behind
him which could imply that he lives somewhere nice
possibly los Angeles.
The white writing contrasts of the pink background to make it stand
out. In this image 21 savage is topless and warring a baseball jacket ,
these items of clothing make the rapper look unsophisticated therefore
the album has connotations such as he is cool and he doesn't’t care.
The genre is suggested as rap on this album cover
because of the use of money and bling. When you look
at other albums such as Adele 21 or queen you see
people normally fully clothed and looking
sophisticated. Also on albums such as Adele and queen
you also don’t see bling and people flexing.
This album grips in the audience to make
them buy it of the use of his money and
chains. The money and chains may make
people want to be like him and have the
same things.

Existing Product
The choice of image here makes drake look
dominant as well as intimidating. This is because
metaphorically the image could be interpreted as a
peacock which intimidate people. This helps to
lead people in as they want to be and look like
Drake. The image on the cover could also be
interpreted as Drake saying the sky is the limit. The
theme drake is showing in this cover could be
powerful , this could be because of his stance or
his chains which shows him to be rich which could
mean powerful.
The genre which is rap is suggested in this poster as of the use
of chains. The chains Drake is wearing is almost a symbol of
rap as most rappers where them. We can also not see any
clothing on him which is very usual for a rapper.
The layout of this cover is very simple as it just includes A
picture of Drake and his iconic name at the bottom. The
name Is also smaller than the picture of him which means
that people recognize Drakes face easily.
The color scheme used in this cover is
very effective. This is because the main
image sticks out on the sky background.
However the Drake font at the bottom
of the page doesn't’t stick out that
much , this may be because Drake may
want people to recognize him for his
face not his name.
Existing Product
The main image portrays the rapper to be powerful. This is because he is
wearing a crown as well as wearing a gold t-shirt which has connotations
such as power , royalty and king. The theme of royalty is probably the
main one. The theme of loyalty could be the rapper saying that he is
potentially the king of rap.
The layout is simple as the cover just includes him by himself. This is very
effective as it makes the audience focus on him. The black background
used is also very effective as it makes the guy and his gold stand out. The
background also emphasizes the guy as he sticks out by himself.
The genre of music shown here is very easy to spot because of
the gold. Gold is very common on rap album covers therefore
you can easily tell. The genre of this album is easier to tell
than others as of the black background and the gold colors
which contrast each other which makes the gold stand out.
However in other album covers they will have bright vibrant
color's and a small amount of gold on them.
The blue font also sticks out as of the
black background which also shows
the audience clearly what the album is
called.
This will engage their target
audience as they will want to
aspire to be a king like him.
Existing Product
There isn’t a set location just a money background this
compares to the other post 2010 albums similarly as they all
include bling and money. This album also is very similar to the
post 2010 because they are wearing there gold chains to
represent wealth. Gold seems to be a main colour in rap
albums weather they are old or new.
The main image in this album makes these 2 look rich and wealthy. This
is because of there chains and money background. This specific album
cover also shows them 2 to be flexing a lot more than the post 2010
covers. This maybe because there wealth was worth a lot more back
then as there weren't of been as many rich people.
The font used isn’t very clear on the cover , this could be
because they are that famous people will know who they are
as soon as they see them. The red font also doesn't contrast
of the background therefore the consumers may not no what
it says from a distance as it doesn’t stick out.
The layout is actually quite complex
as the cover is quite crammed with
text and isn’t much free space. This
is very different to the post 2010
albums as they mainly contain one
main image , a simple background
and there name. The gold has also been made to shine out at the
audience however in the newer album covers the
gold is just there and doesn’t shine as bright.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
The older album covers also include a lot of money and gold as well as the newer albums , this is
to represent there wealth. Another similar thing the newer album covers have in common is that
they almost all have a simple background which then emphasizes the main image . The main
images are all cartoons which Is quite common in post 2010 but isn’t in the older ones , this
maybe because they didn’t have very good technology. The older album covers use backgrounds
which will include wired and wacky backgrounds instead of plain ones.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• I will include a similar product than these exiting ones. For example I will include a cartoon
version on the album cover. I will also probably include small text at the bottom which is
similar to the other albums like the Drake one. I would also like to include something like
money , this is because in most rap albums the rapper is usually flexing.

• Observation:
• This graph shows that 50% of my audience like rap and 40% like pop. The graph also shows that 1 person (10%)
like non of the music above which will mean that I will not aim my product at them.
• What this says about my audience:
• This means that my audience like the rap and pop music genre therefore I will chose to do a rap or pop album
cover. This also shows that my audience is mixed therefore I will have to make a decision of which album cover to
do.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This will appear to my audience positively as now I know what to base my album cover , for example I need to
decide what genre to do like rap or pop.

• This graph shows that 10 people listen to music everyday.
• What this says about my audience:
• This says that my audience all listen to music therefore the album would have to be accessible for
them to listen to.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This means that all the people listen to music everyday this shows that the audience like music.

• This graph shows that 100% of my audience listen to music on their phones instead of radio and an
mp3 player.
• What this says about my audience:
• This says that my audience all have mobile phones and use them to listen to their music.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This means that I will have to make my album accessible to people listening on mobile phones as
that is my main target market.

• This shows that 80% of my audience listens to music using Spotify compared to the 20%.
• What this says about my audience:
• This says that more of my audience use Spotify than deezer. 60% is the difference between people
using Spotify and deezer therefore Spotify is a better market to aim at.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This means that I would have to base my product and target it towards Spotify as that’s where 80%
of my audience listen to music.

• This graph shows that 50% of my audience do buy music albums from music shops such as HMV.
• What this says about my audience:
• This says that my audience have mixed opinions. The graph also shows that half of my audience do not buy music
from shops , this may be because they listen or pay for memberships on music streaming sites.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This shows that if for example my music album was in a shop only half the people would buy them , therefore I
will have to decide weather or not to release it in music shops.

• This graph shows that the majority of my audience would pay over £7 for an album.
• What this says about my audience:
• This also shows that 20% of my audience would not buy an album £5 and over , this may be
because they listen to music of specific music websites like Spotify or deezer.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This shows that I will have to put a price of £5 and over as that is because 60% said that they would
pay over £5 for an album cover.

• This graph shows that half of my audience have not bought music shop before however 50% have.
• What this says about my audience:
• This shows that people may listen to music on things like Spotify and deezer. Although this does
show that people buy music from shops.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This shows me that I will have to base my product in shops as 50% of people buy music from shops.

This graph shows that 70% do not pay to use any streaming services however 30% said they do.
• What this says about my audience:
• This says that a large portion of my audience do not pay monthly , this may be because they are
usually free however you have to watch adverts.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This may mean that people go on streaming websites but don’t pay for them. Therefore I will have
to make my product free to listen to.

• This shows that 40% of my audience say that they would like to see a bright and colourful album cover. However
the rest 60% of responses suggested a wide range of ideas.
• What this says about my audience:
• This shows that a few people would like to see a large bright and colourful image. The bright and colour may have
been suggested frequently as it is very common on alum covers especially rap and pop ones which were the 2
genres selected in the recent survey.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• This will appeal to my audience as the audience obviously want to see a bright large and colourful image as it has
been seen on many other album covers.

• This shows that a portion of people would like to see bright colours and an album cover including a cartoon
• What this says about my audience:
• This says that my audience would like to see a cartoon and bright colours. This shows that the may have some
experience when looking and buying albums as them 2 points are very common.

• My product will appeal to my audience as I will include a cartoon as well as several bright colours like red and
purple. Also purple is a very common colour when looking at pop and rap albums.

• Observation:
• This interview shows that Luke does like pop music. The interview also shows that Luke
doesn't’t mind what ever he listens to. Luke who is 16 also listens to music most days and
does not buy any music.
• What this says about my audience:
This says that my audience doesn't’t like rap music which is what my product is. This also says
that Luke isn't bothered what he listens to therefore he may try something new. Also Luke does
not buy any music therefore my product may not be available in shops.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience:
This shows that my product is not going to appeal to my audience as he does not like rap music
and does not buy music. This shows that he is not going to look at a rap album and think about
listening to it. However Luke did say that he was not to fussy when listening to specific artists.

• Observation:
• This shows that josh does like chill music. He also like artists such as Sam Smith and James
Arthur. Josh who is 16 listens to music everyday and does not buy music.
• What this says about my audience:
• this says that josh does not like rap music which is what my product is based on. Josh also
likes artists such as Sam Smith and James Arthur which represent completely different genres
to what my product is on. Josh also does not buy music therefore my product may not be
bought by either Luke or Josh.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience:
My product will not appeal very well to Josh as he does not like the rap which is what my product
is based on. Also Josh likes artists like James Arthur and Sam Smith who both sing chilled out
songs. Also Josh does not buy music therefore he wont likely buy my album.

contain swearing therefore the age can not be 1-

Male • This is because you get a lot of male rappers
and hardy any women ones.

Emulator • This is because people want to aspire to be
rappers and to be able to afford the things
they own such as clothes.

• This is because I believe that you don’t need
to be earning a specific amount to listen to
music.

there's as well as get inspiration.
– Another advantage is that you get to see the colour schemes , poses and fonts which can help when making
your final one.

– One disadvantage is that it is quite time consuming
– Another disadvantage is that every album has different features.

• One advantage is that they are quick and easy to do.
• Another advantage is that you can include a wide verity of questions such as long , short and multiple choice.
• Disadvantage:
• One disadvantage is that it can be time consuming depending on the questions and the amount.
• You may not get the response you want for example you may not get enough information on each question.

Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
I got a very positive response as I got the answers I wanted. For example I was
thinking of doing a rap album and 50% of my audience said that they liked rap
music. Also a selection of my audience said that they would buy an album in the
shop therefore I could release it in shops. Overall I feel that my survey answers
were similar and there were no anomaly's.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
– We distributed the surveys via blackboard as well as email.
– Disadvantage
• You have to wait for the responses which can take some time.
• Only certain people can access it.
Advantage
You get provided with charts and graphs as well as percentages on survey monkey which saves
you time when analysing them.

  • 2. Existing Product The main image of 21 savage makes him look powerful and strong. The simple layout plan also helps to grip in the audience as the writing “ISSA” is easy to read. The theme which is being used in this album cover would be wealth. This is because he is showing of his money and the trees and hills behind him which could imply that he lives somewhere nice possibly los Angeles. The white writing contrasts of the pink background to make it stand out. In this image 21 savage is topless and warring a baseball jacket , these items of clothing make the rapper look unsophisticated therefore the album has connotations such as he is cool and he doesn't’t care. The genre is suggested as rap on this album cover because of the use of money and bling. When you look at other albums such as Adele 21 or queen you see people normally fully clothed and looking sophisticated. Also on albums such as Adele and queen you also don’t see bling and people flexing. This album grips in the audience to make them buy it of the use of his money and chains. The money and chains may make people want to be like him and have the same things. power is also shown through the trees as he is the same height therefore he is basically saying that he is powerful.
  • 3. Existing Product The choice of image here makes drake look dominant as well as intimidating. This is because metaphorically the image could be interpreted as a peacock which intimidate people. This helps to lead people in as they want to be and look like Drake. The image on the cover could also be interpreted as Drake saying the sky is the limit. The theme drake is showing in this cover could be powerful , this could be because of his stance or his chains which shows him to be rich which could mean powerful. The genre which is rap is suggested in this poster as of the use of chains. The chains Drake is wearing is almost a symbol of rap as most rappers where them. We can also not see any clothing on him which is very usual for a rapper. The layout of this cover is very simple as it just includes A picture of Drake and his iconic name at the bottom. The name Is also smaller than the picture of him which means that people recognize Drakes face easily. The color scheme used in this cover is very effective. This is because the main image sticks out on the sky background. However the Drake font at the bottom of the page doesn't’t stick out that much , this may be because Drake may want people to recognize him for his face not his name.

The theme of loyalty could be the rapper saying that he is potentially the king of rap. The layout is simple as the cover just includes him by himself. This is very effective as it makes the audience focus on him. The black background used is also very effective as it makes the guy and his gold stand out. The background also emphasizes the guy as he sticks out by himself. The genre of music shown here is very easy to spot because of the gold. Gold is very common on rap album covers therefore you can easily tell. The genre of this album is easier to tell than others as of the black background and the gold colors which contrast each other which makes the gold stand out. However in other album covers they will have bright vibrant color's and a small amount of gold on them. The blue font also sticks out as of the black background which also shows the audience clearly what the album is called. This will engage their target audience as they will want to aspire to be a king like him.
  • 5. Existing Product There isn’t a set location just a money background this compares to the other post 2010 albums similarly as they all include bling and money. This album also is very similar to the post 2010 because they are wearing there gold chains to represent wealth. Gold seems to be a main colour in rap albums weather they are old or new. The main image in this album makes these 2 look rich and wealthy. This is because of there chains and money background. This specific album cover also shows them 2 to be flexing a lot more than the post 2010 covers. This maybe because there wealth was worth a lot more back then as there weren't of been as many rich people. The font used isn’t very clear on the cover , this could be because they are that famous people will know who they are as soon as they see them. The red font also doesn't contrast of the background therefore the consumers may not no what it says from a distance as it doesn’t stick out. The layout is actually quite complex as the cover is quite crammed with text and isn’t much free space. This is very different to the post 2010 albums as they mainly contain one main image , a simple background and there name. The gold has also been made to shine out at the audience however in the newer album covers the gold is just there and doesn’t shine as bright.

The older album covers also include a lot of money and gold as well as the newer albums , this is to represent there wealth. Another similar thing the newer album covers have in common is that they almost all have a simple background which then emphasizes the main image . The main images are all cartoons which Is quite common in post 2010 but isn’t in the older ones , this maybe because they didn’t have very good technology. The older album covers use backgrounds which will include wired and wacky backgrounds instead of plain ones. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • I will include a similar product than these exiting ones. For example I will include a cartoon version on the album cover. I will also probably include small text at the bottom which is similar to the other albums like the Drake one. I would also like to include something like money , this is because in most rap albums the rapper is usually flexing.

The graph also shows that 1 person (10%) like non of the music above which will mean that I will not aim my product at them. • What this says about my audience: • This means that my audience like the rap and pop music genre therefore I will chose to do a rap or pop album cover. This also shows that my audience is mixed therefore I will have to make a decision of which album cover to do. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • This will appear to my audience positively as now I know what to base my album cover , for example I need to decide what genre to do like rap or pop.

Therefore I will have to make my product free to listen to.

The bright and colour may have been suggested frequently as it is very common on alum covers especially rap and pop ones which were the 2 genres selected in the recent survey. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • This will appeal to my audience as the audience obviously want to see a bright large and colourful image as it has been seen on many other album covers.

This shows that the may have some experience when looking and buying albums as them 2 points are very common. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product will appeal to my audience as I will include a cartoon as well as several bright colours like red and purple. Also purple is a very common colour when looking at pop and rap albums.

Luke who is 16 also listens to music most days and does not buy any music. • What this says about my audience: This says that my audience doesn't’t like rap music which is what my product is. This also says that Luke isn't bothered what he listens to therefore he may try something new. Also Luke does not buy any music therefore my product may not be available in shops. • How will your product appeal to this audience: This shows that my product is not going to appeal to my audience as he does not like rap music and does not buy music. This shows that he is not going to look at a rap album and think about listening to it. However Luke did say that he was not to fussy when listening to specific artists.

Josh also likes artists such as Sam Smith and James Arthur which represent completely different genres to what my product is on. Josh also does not buy music therefore my product may not be bought by either Luke or Josh. • How will your product appeal to this audience: My product will not appeal very well to Josh as he does not like the rap which is what my product is based on. Also Josh likes artists like James Arthur and Sam Smith who both sing chilled out songs. Also Josh does not buy music therefore he wont likely buy my album.

Gender Male • This is because you get a lot of male rappers and hardy any women ones. Psychographic Emulator • This is because people want to aspire to be rappers and to be able to afford the things they own such as clothes. Social Status Any up to high class to low class. • This is because I believe that you don’t need to be earning a specific amount to listen to music.

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method – Product Research – Advantage – One advantage is that you get to look at other professionally made albums therefore you can aspire to there's as well as get inspiration. – Another advantage is that you get to see the colour schemes , poses and fonts which can help when making your final one. – Disadvantage. – One disadvantage is that it is quite time consuming – Another disadvantage is that every album has different features. – Questionnaires • Advantages: • One advantage is that they are quick and easy to do. • Another advantage is that you can include a wide verity of questions such as long , short and multiple choice. • Disadvantage: • One disadvantage is that it can be time consuming depending on the questions and the amount. • You may not get the response you want for example you may not get enough information on each question. – Interviews – advantages – One advantage is that you get to ask a variety of questions such as long and short quickly. – Another advantage is that it is quick an easy to do.

For example I was thinking of doing a rap album and 50% of my audience said that they liked rap music. Also a selection of my audience said that they would buy an album in the shop therefore I could release it in shops. Overall I feel that my survey answers were similar and there were no anomaly's. – How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage – We distributed the surveys via blackboard as well as email. – Disadvantage • You have to wait for the responses which can take some time. • Only certain people can access it. Advantage You get provided with charts and graphs as well as percentages on survey monkey which saves you time when analysing them.
