The corona virus or Covid-19 was first discovered in Wuhan, China in late 2019. The spread
of the virus that has not found the antidote until now uncontrolled. Already 200 more
countries in the world have reported cases of exposure to the corona virus. In Indonesia this
case was first discovered in two residents of Depok, West Java in early March. Data until
Saturday, March 28, 2020 the number of residents who tested positive for corona virus
reached 1,155 and 102 of them died. The rapid spread of this virus in Indonesia, according to
the government's spokesperson for handling COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto because many
residents did not follow the call to stay at home.
Jakarta The corona virus pandemic causing Covid-19 continues to make Indonesian people
uneasy. Deployment processes and models that are not easily detected, become special
attention.WHO and the Government itself have submitted various appeals in anticipation of
the spread of the Covid-19 corona virus. Appeal was submitted because of the many factors
that caused the massive transmission of Covid-19 corona from human to human which is
often accidentally done. The following are some common ways of transmitting the Covid-19
corona virus as follows: Contact with Frequently Touched Items Objects are a medium that
can be a massive mode of transmission. Because, according to research, the COVID-19
corona virus can survive up to three days by sticking to the surface of objects. These objects
are allegedly objects that are often touched by members of the body such as the hands that
carry the corona covid-19 virus. By sticking the virus on the surface of objects that are often
touched, the virus can automatically move and find new hosts when others touch the object.
The second effective way as a medium for transmitting the COVID-19 virus is not hand
hygiene. It has been proven and proven medical that is the source of various diseases. The
reason is that the hand is a member of the body that does the most activities and interacts with
other people or objects around them. With a hand that does not facilitate its cleanliness, the
COVID-19 corona virus can be used easily to spread. Because, humans will always talk to
the world that uses. Always keep your hands clean so that you do not become one of the
transmission media of the COVID-19 corona virus. Wash your hands with soap or use hand
sanitizer before and after eating, before and after urinating, and then indulge.
Reported by Liputan6, the most common method of transmission of the corona virus COVID-
19 is through droplets. Droplets can occur when someone leaves fluid when sneezing,
coughing, or talking on the floor. Liquids that contain viruses, germs, and bacteria can then
stick to objects carried by other people. Thus, the COVID-19 corona virus gets a new host in
others. Therefore, it is important and it is the duty of every individual in the midst of the
COVID-19 corona virus pandemic to apply the ethics of coughing and sneezing well. Cough
3. and sneezing ethics can be done by closing the mouth and nose using the inside of the elbow
or clean tissue. When using tissue, throw the tissue in the trash then wash your hands with
soap thoroughly.
Every citizen has a role to break the chain of corona virus spread or COVID-19. The method
is like the government's instructions, which are: doing social distancing and not leaving the
house. Workers are encouraged to work from home or work from home. Unfortunately
according to Yuri there are still many people who gather outside the house. This is what
caused the surge in corona virus cases in Indonesia. In addition, continued Yuri, transmission
of the corona virus mostly occurs through the hands. He urged people to always maintain
cleanliness by always washing their hands with soap in running water before doing any
activities. The government has also taken steps to prevent corona virus, such as:
1. Providing several thermo-scnanner units at international arrivals doors at various airports.
2. The government bans Indonesian airline flights to China.
3. 238 Indonesian citizens have also been frozen from China and observed for 14 days in
Natuna health, Riau Islands.
4. Urge to replace Friday prayers with noon prayers at home. That refers to the fatwa from
the Indonesian Ulema Council.
5. The government also calls for the worship of all religions to be done at home.
6. Finally, the public is advised not to go home for Lebaran by the Minister of Religion
Fachrul Razi. This is to prevent vulnerable parents from contracting the corona virus.
The death rate due to COVID-19 is reliably related to age and congenital disease. While the
recovery process of patients against the defense system against the SARS-CoV-2 virus
infection. But how to increase the level of risk?
Time is rolling through the moon. World traffic is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. There
are 208 countries fighting against this new type of virus. Some countries have won, but more
losers and losers are different, even more so, for their people. Data collected by
Worldometers shows that up to 7 April 2020 at 18:00 IWST, the total number of COVID-19
positive cases in the world has reached more than 1.3 million patients. There are more than
75 thousand lives have been lost from this virus infection. Nevertheless 293 thousand patients
were still successfully resolved and restarted their normal lives as before.
The United States, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France are the countries with the highest
COVID-19 positive rates in the world. Three of these countries, namely Italy, Spain and
France, have the highest number of deaths. Their mortality rates were contradictory at 12.4
percent, 9.8 percent and 9 percent. Then what about Indonesia?
Our country managed to reach the highest mortality rate of around 9.11 percent on Saturday,
April 4, 2020. At present, based on data from the Task Force for the Acceleration of
Handling COVID-19 (Tuesday, April 7, 2020), this figure has dropped to 8 percent. But still
higher than the global mortality rate of 5.7 percent. A total of 2,738 cases were confirmed in
Indonesia with 221 deaths. Indonesia is already side by side with three countries that have the
highest mortality rates in the world. For information, the death rate obtained by the number of
dead patients collected by positive cases, then multiplied by 100 percent. If judging from the
World Health Organization (WHO), the individual death rate agrees with his age and medical
4. history. Vulnerable people maintain COVID-19 and need special treatment for old age groups
and / or with congenital diseases such as hypertension, heart complications, lung cancer,
cancer, or diabetes.
Extensive measures to reduce person-to-person transmission of COVID-19 are
required to control the current outbreak. Special attention and efforts to protect or reduce
transmission should be applied to susceptible populations including children, health care
providers, and elderly people. A guideline was published for the medical staff, healthcare
providers, and, public health individuals and researchers who are interested in the 2019-nCoV
(Y.H. Jin, L, etc, 2020).Also it has been reported that some of the Asian populations are more
susceptible to acquire this COVID-19 infection when compared to the other races populations
(Xu, 2020). Following are the protective measures given by WHO (2020d),
1. Wash hands completely using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer will kill the
virus,
2. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth when outside.
3. Be updated about the virus.
4. Avoid travelling or gathering in crowded places.
5. Women with infants are encouraged to breastfeed their babies to enhance their
immunity.
WHO is coordinating efforts to develop vaccines and medicines to prevent and treat
COVID-19 (WHO, 2020d). National Institutes of Health (NIH), has mentioned that SARS-
CoV-2 could survive for up to 3 h maximum as aerosols to a maximum of three days on
surfaces. Slowing the spread of the COVID-19 cases will significantly reduce the strain on
the healthcare system of the country by limiting the number of people who are severely sick
by COVID-19 and need hospital care. It will also give researchers more time to develop the
vaccine against COVID-19. So, it's time for all the citizens to join hands together to fight
against coronavirus by practicing self-hygiene and social distancing (Balachandar Vellingir,
etc, 2020).
it is hoped that with our health and hygiene we will be able to release us from the
COVID-19 virus and a vaccine for this virus can be found soon, and we can return to our
daily lives without fearing overshadowed by this virus.
