2. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The
COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected
person coughs or sneezes, so it‟s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by
coughing into a flexed elbow). (World Health Organization)
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to
severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may
have COVID-19: Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue Muscle or body
aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell. ( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC))
Indonesian President Joko Widodo said on Monday two Indonesians had tested positive for coronavirus
after being in contact with an infected Japanese national, marking the first confirmed cases in the world's fourth
most populous country. The president said a 64-year-old woman and her 31-year-old daughter had tested
positive after being in contact with a Japanese national who lived in Malaysia and had tested positive after
returning from a trip to Indonesia. (Bangkok Post)
The Health Ministry announced 1,014 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total
number of infections nationwide to 37,420. Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, the ministry‟s disease
control and prevention director general, Achmad Yurianto, added that 43 more people had died of the disease,
bringing the death toll to 2,091. (The Jakarta Post)
Based on the sources above, the authors conclude that COVID-19 is a terrible virus that can spread to
anyone and can kill anyone. So from now on you have to start maintaining your wisdom to avoid the covid-19
virus before it's too late. So please if there is no interest in going out don't leave the house for unnecessary
things because if you stay home it will help cut off the spread of covid-19.
3. The potential for these viruses to grow to become a pandemic worldwide seems to be a serious public
health risk. Concerning COVID-19, the WHO raised the threat to the CoV epidemic to the "very high" level, on
February 28, 2020. On March 11, as the number of COVID-19 cases outside China has increased 13 times and
the number of countries involved has tripled with more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries and over 4,000
deaths, WHO declared the COVID-19 a pandemic. (Cascella, Rajnik and Cuomo)
COVID-19 continues to spread far and wide in Indonesia. On Wednesday, the country reported 1,241
new cases in a single day and a cumulative nationwide total of 34,316 confirmed cases. This was an
unprecedented increase since President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo announced the nation‟s first two cases in early
March. Although the majority of new infections are occurring in Java, other provinces are also seeing a gradual
increase in local COVID-19 transmission. Nevertheless, the government announced its surprising decision to
ease the large-scale restrictions (PSBB) in several sectors. Among the most controversial is to relax the
restrictions in places of worship. This policy is not only nonurgent, but also misguided. (Dzakwan)
The new coronavirus or Covid-19 will definitely have a deep impact on the way of living. People are
forced to easily adapt, such as by trying to live their life as usual and accept everything more realistically or
known as a new normal. A medical expert from a local healthcare firm PT Combiphar, Sandi Perutama Gani,
said this condition is marked by our behavior that starts to optimally use technology, for example, online
meetings and telemedicine. (Afifa)
Outbreak 'planned' As the United States reported its first case of the coronavirus last week, several
patent documents started to circulate on Twitter and Facebook that at first glance appear to suggest experts have
been aware of the virus for years. „Bioweapon' conspiracies Another baseless claim that has gone viral online
suggests the virus was part of China's "covert biological weapons programme" and may have leaked from the
Wuhan Institute of Virology. (BBC News)
4. Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and
water. Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and others. If you are too close, you can
breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person has the disease. (World Health
Organization)
Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others You can spread COVID-19 to
others even if you don't feel sick. Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public,
for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC))
Last time, at the very least, staying home will help reduce the spread of coronaviruses and if you need to
leave the house you must still be obliged to obey the rules set by the government so that this pandemic ends
immediately.
