lustful conquest – certainly a sporadic immersion!
• Secondary Audience
– 65-85 – perverted old men or do they wish to nurture their taste for
real emotion in the French culture… for maybe nostalgia? Who can
tell?
4. Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
– 18-22 – captures the riveting idealism of the conquests of artistic
expression and the breakaway of solid fronts of homogeneity –
merging into one singularity.
• Secondary Audience
– 40-50 – witness the contexts of the image…
5. Hypodermic Needle
• Definition
– Where an audience immediately believes and accepts what it is told by the media
• Example
– the ideal of the princess… reflected in Disney films especially nurtures the commodity of beauty… refines and upgrades its detail in each segments of
nourishments.
6. Uses and Gratifications Information
• Finding information / news – I use the BBC News website to find out information.
• Seeking advice or help with decision making – research the best options regarding the decision etc.
• Satisfy curiosity – use YouTube, search engines etc. in reference to the ethos of curiosity
• To learn – BBC Bitesize etc.
7. Uses and Gratifications Personal
Identity
• - Reinforcing personal values – films which reflect the values of my worldview
• - Developing behavioural traits – various forms of media-based programming i.e. trauma etc.
• - Identify with valued other in the media (aspiration figure- real or fictional – find the sources of the plots, a factor of relatability…
8. Uses and Gratifications Integration and
Social Interaction
• - Identifying with others – find similarities in the core of the persona
• - Belonging – find a sense of profound connection in various references of origin etc.
• - Topic for social interaction – a subject of day to day life.
• - A substitute for real-world companionship – chatrooms, videochats… social networks in general provide adequate online communication.
9. Uses and Gratifications Entertainment
• - Escapism – allows you to escape the hardships of reality itself
• - Relaxation – can provide an easily accessible away to “get cosy” to say the least… media pertains to all ages in its wide range of formats.
• - Enjoyment – the wide choice allows you to immerse yourself in your interests and hobbies… reflected in that media
10. Consumer Generated Content
• Example
– YouTube
– Users create their own videos and submit them to a YouTube to use to generate money
– Instagram
– Users submit images, wavering their ownership of images allowing Instagram to use the images commercially
– Little Big Planet/Disney Infinity
– Users are given the tools and encouraged to create content for the game.
• What are the advantages to media producers?
– Allows them to attract advertisements etc. and other forms of media which can generate profit
• Why would the audience generate content?
Because they want to attract attention to themselves – experience the new found media…
