2. THE SONG
• The song is Black Mambo by Glass Animals.
• It was released in 2014 in the album Zaba, which was their debut album
• They are an English organic band
• Similar artists include Bastille and Alt-J
• Their genre is indie/Alternative
• The official music video has over 6,368,335 views. Even though the video has
a huge number of views, they are a relatively unknown band and our concept
is so different from the official music video.

3. THE IDEA
• The basic idea for the music video is that there is a mentally disturbed
teenager in a institution room, who thinks he is getting possessed by
the devil. During the music video you what is going on inside his head,
as the devil tries to take over his mind and tries to fight to stop it.
The three settings…
• Plain institution room which the boy is in, with a bed, and the doodles
on the wall. This is the reality
• For the illusion, it is the same room, but with nothing in.
• The room for the performers is a dark room with red lights and smoke.

5. THE PITCH• The music starts to a black screen. The
music starts two seconds after.
• Then we start the video with a white
room, which is bare apart from a bed in
the centre and a man sat on the bed.
• The camera has different shots of the
bare room to establish the room (panning
shots, birds eye view etc.)
• The man is clearly mad, he could be
rocking slightly and shaking his head,
talking to himself.
• We wanted a camera shot which was
edited as if it were a CCTV shot, so if
would further set the scene as if he were
a dangerous inmate and he was in a
public institution.
6. THE PITCH
• There is then a zoom in to
close up of the boys eye, to
show that we are going into
his mind.
• There is a devil like character
who walks towards the
character and the boy
behaves oddly, like the lucifer
is controlling him.
• The shot will alternate
between this setting and the
performers setting.
• Also, the there will be
alternating shot of the boy
writing on the walls of the
room with lucifer related
references such as “666” and
7. THE PITCH• We were also thinking that there
could be some images relating
to Vincent Van Goph, to show
the connection between the
madness and the artist.
• At the end of the video, a nurse
comes into the room and sees
the whole wall covered with
drawings and markings relating
to the devil/lucifer.
• She backs away with fear calls
for help and the boy stops
drawing and turns round to look
at her, dropping the pen with
shock as he realises what he
8. THE AESTHETIC OF THE CHARACTERS -
BOY• The boy will be around 16 years old and
we were hoping he would have a shaven
head.
• He will be dressed in loose, baggy trousers
and a scruffy white t-shirt. His clothes will
be distressed and dirty looking, to show
how he does not care about how he looks.
• We could also use makeup to make it look
like he has tattoos on his face.
• We thought that the devil would be played
by the same person or someone similar
looking, to show that it is all in his mind.
• However, even though the devil looks
similar he can be wearing dark makeup
and black contacts in his eyes to make him
seem weird and creepy to the audience.
We could also draw the devil sign on his
face, like a tattoo to show the difference
between the two characters.
9. THE AESTHETIC OF THE CHARACTERS -
NURSE
• The nurse will be
dressed in a typical
nurse outfit, with her hair
tied back, to indicate to
the audience her job.
• She will also carry a
clipboard, presumably
with information about
the patient on.
10. THE AESTHETIC OF THE CHARACTERS -
MUSICIANS
• The musicians will be
dressed in quite basic
costumes, as it is more
about the lighting and
musicians playing their
instruments in this shot.
• They will wear black, so
that they seem to blend
into the background
