o TATA GROUP is an Indian multinational
conglomerate company headquartered in
Mumbai, Maharashtra,India.
o TATA GROUP operates more than 80 companies
ranging from software and automobiles to steel,
consumer goods and telecommunications. With
above 424,365 employees across India, it is the
nation’s largest private employer.

Tata Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate holding company It was founded in 1867
by Jamsetji Tata and gained international recognition after purchasing several global
companies
Tata entered the commercial vehicle sector in 1954 after forming a joint venture
with Daimler-Benz of Germany. After years of dominating the commercial vehicle market in
India, Tata Motors entered the passenger vehicle market in 1991 by launching the Tata
Sierra, a multi utility vehicle.
7. CONCEPTS
o The new range of next-gen vehicles being created at Tata
Motors is based on our HorizoNext approach of producing
vehicles that are both exciting and appealing. The Tata
Hexa, showcased at the Geneva Auto Salon 2015, is a
muscular and sporty concept SUV with flowing exterior lines
and a unique appearance.
o Other concept cars that have grabbed eyeballs are the
Nexon, a modern youthful compact SUV, and the
ConnectNext Concept car, which articulates the future of
connectivity with its advanced interiors and the seamless
passenger connect with professional and personal networks.
o We have also created next-gen clean, green fuel based
commercial vehicles, such as the Magic Iris Electric, a zero-
emission, small electric commercial passenger vehicle, fitted
with a roof-mounted solar panel for supplementary charging;
and the front-engined Starbus Urban FE-Parallel Hybrid Bus,
a clean fuel option for public transport.

10. Tata Motors - Sustainability Initiatives
Tata Motors has adopted affirmative action policy
of Tata Group which focuses on inclusive growth. The
community development programs have been designed
to ensure inclusive growth by involving marginalised
sections of society, the Scheduled Castes (SC) and
Scheduled Tribes (ST). The sustainability initiatives
of Tata Motors can be broadly classified into the
following areas :

oSkill Development
oEnvironment
11. Health
Tata Motors offers medical facilities in communities
with a special emphasis on maternal and child health. A
specialized malnutrition treatment centre has been
established in partnership with UNICEF Jharkhand.
The company has also been conducting medical camps in
rural areas and has constructed several low cost
toilets.
Drinking Water
Safe Drinking Water project was established under
the aegis of SMDF (Sonant Moolgaonkar Development
Foundation). The focus of the project is to provide
clean and safe drinking water to protect the vulnerable
sections particularly women, children and elderly from
health hazards. 68 villages have become the project
beneficiaries.
12. Education
The focus here is rural children and the methodology entails
case based holistic approach. Several scholarship programmes
and coaching classes for weak students have been initiated.
Emphasis has also been given to infrastructure development.
Skill Development
In one of the most far reaching skill development initiatives,
Tata Motors has been working with 135 Industrial Training
Institutes (ITI) spread over 19 states. The scope of this
initiative includes upgrade of training facilities, teacher training
programs, youth training in automotive trades and other such
programs. Other skill development initiatives include training in
agriculture and allied activities and driver training program.
Environment
The initiatives under this domain include plantation of saplings,
soil and water conservation and awareness building activities
related to environmental issues.
13. Pollution Control
Tata Motors is the first Indian Company to
introduce vehicles with Euro norms. Tata Motors'
joint venture with Cummins Engine Company,
USA, in 1992, was a major effort to introduce
emission control technology in India. To make
environment friendly engines it has taken the
help of world-renowned engine consultants like
Ricardo and AVL. It has manufactured CNG
version of buses and also launched a CNG version
of its passenger car, the Indica. Over the years,
Tata Motors has also made investments in the
establishment of an advanced emission-testing
laboratory.

make clear they have no intention of
relinquishing control to Wall Street.
