RE Capital's Visionary Leadership under Newman Leech
Final Group Report
1. Final Group Report
At the start of the video, we want a few seconds of a band playing and the artist singing in a derelict
building and this will show that the song is going to be sad. The camera can focus on each
instrument in slow motion.
We have decided that we are going to use various different locations throughout our video to give
different effects. One of the locations is Formby beach. Here we can use the high sand dunes and the
sea to create scenes of our storyline. Another is a derelict warehouse where the artist can be singing
or a band can be playing with the artist and the camera can focus on the different instruments
maybe in slow motion to add effect to the sadness of the song. We have access to all of the
instruments needed for this. We have also suggested bonfire night which could end up as a good
effect to the song, but this will be very risky as good camera shots would be very hard to gain as
fireworks and lighting is unpredictable. We know of local public shows with bonfires and firework
displays which would be a good shot in the background of our artist singing. A junkyard would also
be a good location for a setting in our video as it links in with our song as the connotations of her
being in a junk yard could suggest she is a mess after the events of what has happened.
Through the video we want to add black and white flashbacks of the artist and her ex boyfriend
showing happiness e.g. by walking through town (Manchester) holding hands as a happy couple. We
can then focus the shot on the happy couple e.g. sitting on a bench and then doing a shot of reality
now e.g. the artist sitting alone at the bench in the exact same position as before.
We also want a few shots of the artist playing her piano in places such as a garage or a garden. This
will hopefully show that the artist is alone and lonely.
As we have a minimal budget, we have decided that a good way to use outstanding dresses such as a
red dress to make the artist stand out from the rest and suggest ‘danger’ is to either ask if we can
borrow them or buy them and return them a few days later after filming. Another way to make our
artist stand out is to use dramatic makeup on places such as the lips and eyes.
