Low Birth Weight (LBW) is defined as a
birth weight less than 2,500 grams (5
pounds, 8 ounces). Very Low Birth
Weight (VLBW) infants are defined as
weighing less than 1,500 grams (3
pounds, 5 ounces)

For children and adolescents (aged 2–19
years), overweight is defined as a BMI at or
above the 85th percentile and lower than the
95th percentile for children of the same age
and sex. Obesity is defined as a BMI at or
above the 95th percentile for children of the
same age and sex.
