2. Magazine Name Ideas
• I have decided to choose RnB/Hip Hop as my chosen music genre as that is my favourite type of music.
• List of potential magazine names:
- TrapVibe
- Trapsoul
- Get Down
- Uptown
- 90’s Vibe
I have personally decided that I liked 90’s Vibe the best as I believe that was when RnB/Hip Hop music was in its golden age and it will be a lot of fun when it
comes to actually making my mu8sic magazine.
3. Content
• My music magazine is going to include the majority of the
mainstream RnB/Hip Hop musical artists that were
significantly prominent during the 90’s.
• What my main objective is to do with this magazine is to
honour the golden age of 90’s RnB/ Hip Hop like no other
magazine has done before. I don’t want to do this by just
giving having such a significant genre, simply cut down to
a double page spread.
• My magazine is going to include exclusive interviews,
never before seen images and information about how
90’s RnB/Hip Hop has made such a huge impact on our
society as well as lifestyle today.
90’s Culture
• It is stated by many artists that Hip Hop and RnB wasn’t
what is was 10-15 years ago it is believed that RnB/Hip
Hop music has lost it’s authenticity and that everyone is
creating the same generic sounds. So that is why I want
to revive the 90’s and bring back that originality as well as
authenticity.
4. Design Ideas
• This is an idea of what I want my masthead to look like
this is just a prototype, however I want my masthead to
be colourful, striking and bold as that is the feelings you
should get seeing my mast head.
• The lettering must be bold so that it is easy to capture
and entice you to come and by the magazine even if you
are at far distance.
• The major colour scheme in the 90’s was bright colours
that captured different cultures and personalities. The
majority of clothing was baggy and loose fitted this will
be extremely helpful when it comes to styling my models
for photos.
5. Target Audience
• To the right is a press pack of Vibe magazine, I believe the
press pack for my magazine will be quite similar to this.
However there will be some differences.
• I do believe that the main race of people that will read
my music magazine will be Black/ African American
people as the majority of artists that made RnB/Hip Hop
music were predominately Black and the same went for
those who listened to their music as well.
• The main age of people that I'm aiming my music
magazine at are people ages 20 and over as they were
born and were around when this type of music was
around. Also this is aimed a both males and females.
