1. Website evaluation
This report will be an evaluation of my work during unit 11. It will
include my strengths and weaknesses of my Website as well as looking
at my Designs, Evaluation of my work progress and also the final
product.
2. Designs
When designing my website I made sure that the colour scheme was related to the comic book I am using
which in my case is ‘The Darkness’, The character I’ve chosen is an evil but good thing, evil would most
commonly relate to red, grey, Black, white Etc so I decided to use any dark colours that would relate to comic
book and video game with such as a bloody, Dark and gloomy atmosphere, Etc. My website is targeted to
those who are either veterans to the franchise or newcomers who would like to know abit about The
Darkness. To anyone that seeks to find the truth behind the darkness. My website is very easy to use; the
tabs are easily readable making for easy navigation around the site.
3. Final Product
When it came to the creation part of my website I used specific programs to help me complete my website in the fastest and best
way possible. Firstly, I started off with the draft copy, I used Microsoft PowerPoint to create an idea in my head of how to layout my
website, I first got a suitable image for my banner which is used on every page as well having the button/tabs along the bottom of
the banner; the buttons consist of a Home, Bio, order comics and media pages, while deciding how to layout my website I realised
that I could just use the rule of thirds; a commonly used website page layout. This separates the website into three parts. The reason
I chose to use rollover images on the page tabs is because it gives the user feedback, that my website is ready, live and interactive.
On my biography page you can see that I have applied the
rule of thirds, picture lined up with the upper horizontal line,
from the image below you can see that the eyes typically
look to the top left of the page, this is because when we read
books or anything in general we tend to look to the left and
read along towards the right.
I have chosen the navigation bar to be at the top middle
because its close to the line that has been is been proven
that that line has a high percentage in eye catches.
4. Then I moved onto the contents of the specific page. In the biography page I have talked about the main character in
great detail. The page is layed out in separate boxes to evenly separate different information. Throughout my page
design process I made sure to try and keep it neat and tidy for future simple use. After completing this task I then moved
onto the official creation of my website. To do so I used a professional program known as Adobe Dreamweaver. This is a
very fun and easy way to create a website especially for the newbie such as myself. Like before I started off by putting my
banner up with all the buttons included. I then started to add the contents to my pages. How did I add the contents do I
hear you ask? Well from my website draft designs I set up the page how I wanted it to look, but I removed the banner
and the buttons so now the PowerPoint slide is just the contents placed how I want them. I then ‘Print screened’ that
page and cropped just the contents, I then saved the cropped image and inserted it into Dreamweaver and just like that I
now have a homepage. The image below shows my homepage contents, I cropped just the slide page and saved it. Then
inserted it to Dreamweaver.
5. After inserting the image to Dreamweaver, this is now what my homepage has turned out to be like. I
repeated this process for every page till I finally finished my Website. I Think creation of my website went
extremely well, better than I expected anyway, didn’t have any problems at all.

6. Evolution of my work
While creating the website I decided that my original idea was boring, there was just big empty gaps, very
bare and boring. So I decided to fill in those gaps, make it look professional and presentable. I added lots of
images, extra information. Below is an image of a drastic change I made to the homepage, my original idea
is unbearable to look at when compared to my new and improved version.
I replaced the original image with more
suitable and more aesthetically pleasing
images.
7. Evaluation of my progress
Over the past few days of working on unit 11, I have learnt a lot of things including, The usage
of Dreamweaver and all its aspects; linking images with website, linking buttons to the right
pages, how to add images, how to crop and save image onto the program. ETC. I have also
learnt the power of using the rule of thirds and how it can affect a webpage to look very nice.
I have improved a lot with using PowerPoint too, I was already pretty advanced on this program
but this unit has helped with other parts that I was unfamiliar with. The experience from this
unit has definitely helped me with future tasks which I am very grateful for, and hopefully this
can become helpful in the future.
My strengths include creating the website, I was quite unfamiliar with Dreamweaver yet I knew
the basics from past tasks, implementing images, knowing what information had to be put
down, PowerPoint was a breeze considering I have used this program for many years.
My Weaknesses include entirely the usage of Dreamweaver, i was pretty lost with it, it is quite
an advanced program especially with this unit, having to link buttons to every page was a bit of
a struggle but I ended up getting better at it.
