1. Because my documentary is scheduled for channel 4
I made sure my newspaper advert layout and
appearance looked conventional to real channel 4
advert by researching the forms and conventions of
them.

2. I used the channel 4 logo and made
it transparent as is conventional to
allow images to be seen
underneath and make the logo
blend in.
The logo matches the colour
scheme of the text boxes on the
page. Conventional channel 4
newspaper adverts follow a two
colour, colour scheme. Our
colours are blue and white.
The text used is written in a simple
font as similar as possible to the
channel 4’s trademark font. The text is
white so it stands out against the blue
text block
The slogan ‘The universal language’ is the largest text on the page, this is
conventional and makes it stand out to the audience. The smaller text is
the title of the programme and underneath, even smaller text, showing
the scheduling of the programme.
Our slogan works with the image to create meaning but in an eye-
catching way. The word language and the speech bubbles compliment
each other.
3. With the radio trailer, we found a piece of music that featured a
lot of variation and instruments so it linked to the theme of
music but also, as it was an instrumental, followed the
conventions of a real radio trailer. The music bed runs
throughout the entire trailer and helps create atmosphere and
flow.
The piece we used is Called Time is tight by Booker T and the
MGs and due to its array of instruments used, emphasises the
topic of the documentary. This is the same music we used in our
documentary
In the radio trailer, we focused on using the most effective and emotion
driven clips for our audio. Ones that showed passion and created
excitement around the idea of music and instruments. For example,
Aaron talks about how his love for instruments started young and how
we worked his way up.
The voice over in the radio trailer helps to link clips together and give the
audience context, telling them what the documentary is about
