PROP SHOTS
BY HANNAH FARMER
PROPS
SMOKE BOMB
We’re unsure if we are able to use this prop in a
public area. We have conducted some research and
learnt that we need to contact the fire department
and possibly the police.
If we get permission to use the smoke bombs we
are planning to use them throughout the video, in
different shots and locations. Coloured smoke
bombs are very eye-catching and would add more
diverse shots to our video. We are planning on
placing the smoke bombs on the ground, so that
the smoke will rise around the actor's, resulting in
them looking mysterious and dangerous.
BASEBALL
BATS
This will be the main prop we use in our music
video. By using baseball bat's it will reinforce the
representation of the actors as gangsters.
Baseball bat's are often associated with gangs
reckless behaviour, this prop will have a fairly
significant role within the extract and will help
create the representation of gangster that we
are trying to achieve.
WOODEN CHAIR AND BLACK
BAG
Both of these prop will only be used for one
scene. When the female actor's tie the male
actor to a chair and place a black fabric bag over
his head. We feel that these items will engage
the audience as they question why the male
actor is being tied up. Also, it will again build up
the representation of the actors being
troublesome and dangerous.
SHISHA SMOKE AND BUBBLE
GUM
Both of these props will be used in short shots. One
of the female actors could be blowing a bubble.
During the post-production stage we will cut the
footage so that the bubble pops as the beat drops in
the music. Blowing bubbles with gum is usually a
playful and girly action so would portray the actors
as girly. Another female actor will be blowing the
smoke out of her mouth during another scene.
Smoking is stereotypically seen as a bad habit and
seen as reckless behaviour; further emphasising that
the actors are bad.
