 “Fault current limiter”
 Limit the amount of current flowing through
the system.
 Allows for uninterrupted operation for system.
 Low impedance under normal condition
 High impedance under fault condition.

superconducting FCLs
Solid state FCLs

5. Superconductive FCL
 This type of FCL work with low impedance .It
uses impedance into the circuit to limit the
fault current.

It enhance the system reliability.
 It enhanced the recovery time when
disruptions occur.

 When the system rising fault currents level
and demanding more energy, then we have
to use FCLs.
 FCLs work with no impedance during normal
operation that allows for stable system.

 We judge that the work of interrupting may
hinders on circuit breaker that connects with

distance of 8km away.
