Heroin Epidemic in New Jersey
The heroin epidemic in New Jersey has been more and more relevant in 2016 and in the past few
months. There was a report earlier this year of a mother and father overdosing on heroin in a car
with their toddler in the backseat. This along with other sad and tragic stories have shaped the public
narrative of the heroin epidemic in New Jersey. A report last year by New Jersey Advance Media
notes that the per–capita rate of 8.3 heroin–related deaths per 100,000 people is more than triple the
national rate reported by the Centers for Disease Control (Hochman). Ocean County seems to be one
of the impacted communities in New Jersey. The death toll in this county and many other in Jersey
have been rising. Researchers have found that dealers in New Jersey are adding more Fentanyl, an
opioid painkiller a hundred times more powerful than morphine, to the heroin and thus sells at
higher rates because it produces a better and bigger high. And the purity of heroin in Jersey is higher
than the average. The fact that drug dealers are cutting their product with deadly toxins, that make it
more addictive and more dangerous and most importantly keeps the cost low. Heroin has morphine
mixed in it and can be a more affordable stand in for painkillers. A bag of heroin goes for about $5
or $10 whereas painkillers go for about $40 or $50. The affordability of the drug and the addictive

Personal Narrative Essay: Tomsriver New Jersey
Home of snookie , situation , and big time MTV shows. This is where I grew up. Is the Jersey shore
really all parties and drinking? No. Tomsriver New Jersey is a wonderful town where many crazy
and fun things happen. During the summer time it is a mess with people from all over the state and
surrounding states passing through so they can go to Seaside ( the beach town 5 minutes from my
house). During the summer Tomsriver becomes crowded and buzzing. Downtown becomes a hub
for many events. Every Wedensday in a park downtown a famers market is held. At this market you
can buy anything from food to cloths. This summer was espically crowed though. This is because of
the mobile phone game called "Pokemon Go". Pokemon Go is a game where you travel ... Show

The reason for this is because of the Halloween parade. Through the enitre month of October you
can and will see people building floats in prep for the parade. The kids in Tomsriver actually have to
trick or treat the day before Halloween because its such a big event. The Tomsriver Halloween
parade has been going for 88 years and is now the 3rd largest Halloween parade in the world. People
use to line up chairs up and down main street so they could get a good seat. I was in the parade
twice actually. Both times it was a great experience if not a little embarssing. I was in the parade
because of boy scouts. I remember walking down the street with my silly uniform on trying to be
cool to impress the girls on the side that were watching. ( some things never change) I live about a
block from mainstreet so the day of the parade is always crazy by me. Cars are lined up and down
my street a few times Ive thought about charging people to park in front of my house , trust me I
would have made a killing. Halloween day in Tomsriver has such a great atmosthphere its like
everyone is town comes together for one night. Though it may be crazy and kind of annyoing to see
all the cars honking and parked on my street i wouldnt want it any other

The Future Of Renewable Energy
Currently the United States depends heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for a majority of its energy.
Fossil fuels are non–renewable, and they draw on limited resources that will eventually diminish
and become too costly or too environmentally damaging to reclaim. In contrast, the many types of
renewable energy resources–such as wind and solar energy–are regularly replenished and will may
never run out. Most renewable energy comes either directly or indirectly from the sun. Sunlight, or
what is referred to as solar energy, can be used directly for heating and lighting homes and other
buildings. It may also be used for producing electricity, hot water heating, cooling, and a variety of
commercial and industrial uses. The sun 's heat also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it doesn 't occur naturally as a gas. It 's always combined with other elements, such as with
oxygen to make water. Once separated from another element, hydrogen can be burned as a fuel or
converted into electricity. Not all renewable energy. The sun also warms the surface of the ocean
more than the ocean depths, creating a temperature difference that can be used as an energy source.
This form of ocean energy can be used to produce electricity.
Energy depletion patterns have changed over the history of our country as we developed new energy
sources and as our uses of energy have changed. Wood served as an early form of energy until the
late 1800s, even though water mills were an important energy source to some early industrial
growth. Coal became dominant in the late 19th century before being surpassed by petroleum
products in the middle of the last century, a time when natural gas usage also rose quickly. Since the
mid–20th century, coal use has again intensified (mainly as a primary energy source for electric
power generation), and a new forms of energy such as nuclear electric power which has made an
increasingly significant contribution. After a pause in the 1970s, the use of petroleum and natural
gas resumed growth, and the overall pattern of energy consumption since the late 20th century has
remained somewhat constant. While the Country's overall energy history is one of significant
change as new forms of energies

The Scientific Definition of Hurricanes
When hurricane Sandy embarked on its destructive journey to the Eastern Coast of the United States
in October of 2012 meteorologists already knew the storm would be unparalleled in terms of its
probable level of damage and deaths. After the horror which was Hurricane Katrina the population
was well aware of the sheer power a hurricane could produce. Known in different parts of the world
as typhoons and tropical cyclones, the entire world knows the destructive possibilities that a
hurricane brings with it. The scientific definition of a hurricane is "an intense storm of tropical
origin, with sustained winds exceeding 64 knots, which forms over the warm northern Atlantic and
eastern North Pacific oceans" (Ahrens 316). Each year, from approximately June 1st to November
30th, the world is forced to suffer through hurricane season. Through the duration of this time period
hundreds of storm systems emerge from the tropical regions which surround the equator. From these
countless storms over 50 will intensify to hurricane levels. Hurricanes require a certain atmosphere
in order to form to the level which makes them disastrous. Most often they will form over tropical
waters where the winds are light, there is high humidity and the surface temperature of the water is
exceedingly warm, typically 80° F. These specified conditions explain why most hurricanes come
from the tropical and subtropical North Atlantic and Pacific where these conditions are prevailing
through the duration

Jersey is a very large state and often could not meet the needs of the community for ambulatory
services and others. Hence, many of the patients would travel to Philadelphia for comprehension or
ambulatory care. This new renovation will allow patients to remain in the comfort of their area.
Southern New Jersey population has grown to over 40 percent over this decade alone. Immigrants
have been finding jobs and establishing residency for years. Since 2000 Southern New Jersey
foreign –born population is increasing according to the U.S. Census and America Survey data. The
Press of Atlantic City analyzed census data on foreign–born residents for 69 municipalities in
Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and southern Ocean counties. In 2000, there were 45,479 foreign–
born people in the region. That number has since grown to 63,558, an increase of 18,059. As a
percent of the population, the foreign–born has increased regionally from 7 percent to 9 percent,
Press analysis shows (Lemongello, S. 2011).
Conclusion

The Elitist New Jersey Lifestyle
Growing up in a county where kids have everything handed to them and then moving to college,
where people actually have to work for what they have, has been an immense change. The lifestyle
and culture in New Jersey are very different than the lifestyles and culture found in Michigan as a
whole. After coming to Holland, MI, I have found a few similarities between Hunterdon County, NJ,
and Holland, MI. In general, Holland is a less extreme version of Hunterdon County. For NJ,
everything's a competition, a game. Having to grow up in New Jersey has been both a blessing and a
curse in my life. I have learned how to be strong and confident, yet, I have also seen what wealth

graduation parties a week. It was insane. I legitimately lived out of my car during this time because
there was always a new house I had to go to for the night. It was no longer a family meal celebrating
one's success through high school, it became a rage, just like it was out of a movie. Once again, it
was all about showing off your house and showing that you can in fact feed seventy inebriated kids,

North–Eastern region of the United States has been serving as the backbone of US economy in
many respects. Obviously, it is densely populated region of the US due to the presence of megacities
like New York, Philadelphia and the capital Washington DC. The size and number of airports in this

major city areas lie in the Atlantic coastal plain, whereas mountains and hills are also significantly

New Jersey is one of the densely populated city of the United States of America. It is divided into 3

Coal Burning In Pennsylvania
Growing up in South Jersey, I grew up near the coal burning electric plant so I wanted to check out
what the impact of burning of coal would have on the environment and on people's health that could
be living near the plant.
In some research conducted, it was seen that burning coal produces airborne compounds, known as
fly ash and bottom ash (collectively referred to as coal ash), which can contain large quantities of
heavy metals that settle or wash out of the atmosphere into oceans, streams, and land. Coal
combustion releases mercury and When mercury is deposited on land or in water, microorganisms
convert part of it to a highly toxic form called methylmercury. When fish and animals eat these
microorganisms, the toxins accumulate and can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emissions from coal fired power plants contribute to global warming, ozone smog, acid rain,
regional haze, and perhaps most consequential of all from a public health standpoint, fine particle
pollution.
A specific study conducted at the University of Pennsylvania was looking at the effects of the
pollution from coal–fired plant in Pennsylvania had on New Jersey counties. The study found that
Women had a greater risk of having babies of low or very low birthweights. Often under five and a
half pounds. What about children's lungs? Nitrogen oxides, which are emitted from smokestacks, are
known to irritate the respiratory tract. They also react with other pollutants to produce ozone, which
is a key component of smog. And hazy, smoggy, ozone–filled air is just terrible for kids with
asthma. There is particulate matter, especially the tiny particles with a diameter of less than 2.5
micrometers, which studies show can trigger asthma attacks. Children are especially vulnerable
because they tend to breathe through their mouths, which means less filtering of pollutants by nose
hair; they tend to hang out more outside, where levels of these pollutants are usually higher; and
they run around a lot, which means they take in more nasty stuff and inhale it deep into their

Water in New Jersey Essays
Water in New Jersey
Residential, commercial and industrial development is the largest contributors to landscape change
in the state of New Jersey. When buildout occurs in one region, development pressure begins in
another, virtually insuring the Megalopolis concept of one huge urban corridor stretching between
Boston and Washington D.C. Year after year, farmland dwindles, roads become congested, and more
residents are left to compete for diminishing natural resources. Desperate measures and newer
technologies are incorporated to replace poor planning and lack of vision on behalf of decision–
makers caught between competing interests. When the long term health and wellbeing of the

When the competition for a vital resource is between residents and crops, human health and
wellbeing takes precedence as a matter of policy. When this competition is between one group of
residents and another group of residents, the only solution is to spread the resource even thinner
often leading to inequities among citizens of differing financial or political influence. Decision–
makers should have a zero tolerance agenda concerning any threat to our groundwater resources.
This paper proposes that future growth needs to take into account our dependence on surface and
subsurface water resources when planning developments and incorporating water resource studies
into legislation meant to guide further development in New Jersey. The impact on citizens affected
by new construction may not be felt until a crisis occurs and then it will be too late. With the
remaining southwestern agricultural counties ripe for development it's never too late to change our
vision of the landscape and refuse to gamble with the future needs of our citizens.

Blueberry and Cranberry farming have been around forever. New Jersey is a great place for them to
grow because of the necessities they need to grow. New Jersey has many bogs which is where
cranberries are grown. Also the acidic soil, abundant soil moisture, and great drainage so the
blueberries get air during the growing season is naturally suited for the blueberries to grow. Iron
making was important in the 1700s and 1800s. Iron was used to create weapons and kitchen utilities
which were very important in that time. However when coal was discovered in Pennsylvania the
iron industries crumbled. Hunting, gathering and trapping have been in the Pine Barrens for 300

Solid waste like bags, foam, and other items dumped into the oceans from land or by ships at sea are
frequently consumed, with often fatal effects, by marine mammals, fish, and birds that mistake it for
food.
Ocean currents corral trillions of decomposing plastic items and other trash into gigantic, swirling
garbage patches (Pacific Trash Vortex)
Fish and birds could be harmed from accidentally eating the plastic particles, or absorbing
substances that leach out into the water. The main problem is the accessibility to freshwater
organisms that can be easily confused as natural food.
IV – Pollution Facts:
The average American will throw away approximately 185 pounds of plastic per year.
8% of the world's oil is used for plastic production.
Plastic in the ocean breaks down into such small segments that pieces of plastic from a one liter
bottle could end up on every mile of beach throughout the world.
Approximately 380 billion plastic bags are used in the United States every year. That's more than
1,200 bags per US resident, per year.
80% of pollution to the marine environment comes from the land.
Estimated in 2006 that every square mile of ocean contains 46,000 pieces of floating plastic.
Estimated that over 70,000 chemicals are used in industrial compounds, pesticides, pharmaceuticals,
food additives, and other purposes. That total

New York City Cops The NYPD is one of the finest law enforcements when it comes to containing
drugs, except one, heroin. The business of drugs exponentially grows to new heights every year.
Around the early 70's, heroine was being brought over to the united states at very high rates. New
York City was a famous shipping ground for heroine, which made times tough for the law
enforcement. At one point in history a person could find all sorts of dirty businesses in New York,

3. How much time do I have to execute this before the cops find out?
In the 70's before there was much technology to help and crack down these major dealers, the police
would have to deal with it by purely just evidence.
These cases always have to be dealt with patience. Buddy and Popeye tail a Lincoln that eventually
parks on a side street. Just like in real life they wait and wait to see if anything occurs and surely
does, at 4:10 A.M they both catch two thieves trying to strip the Lincoln. The Lincoln is towed back
to a garage where it is searched for evidence or in this case drugs.
They search everywhere from the trunk, under the hood and in the seating but come up empty. They
start to get a bit impatient but do not give up and eventually do find the drugs. It turned out to be in
the car's rocker panels underneath the doors. From this they have all the evidence they need to put
these mobsters in prison once and for all. As in reality a big case such as this will never be solved in
a couple of days, it could take weeks, months or even years.
The French Connection is one of the most realistic police movies that I have ever seen and teaches a
lot about cops. There are some stereotypes as Popeye who plays the tough cop role and at times
could be racist, while his partner buddy is the more patient and quiet one than his loud and
obnoxious partner. It's a common formula seen in other police movies. This

Essay A Decision Made
Across the period of one's life, decisions are made, consequences are endured, and rewards are
accepted. In most instances, one does not think before they act on possible actions or decisions;
however it is the rare few that do think, and do realize the cause and effect of decisions about to be

Margaret Sanger was an advocate for women's rights, a nurse, a feminist, and most important she
offered women information about contraceptives, something that was relatively hidden from many
women in the early 1900's. Margaret Sanger may have single handily changed the fact that "women

he was willing to risk it, and eventually was put to death because of his actions. Sanger also knew
going against Comstock could result in possible jail time, which she did receive for her actions.
In "The Censors," Juan knowingly risked being caught by becoming a censor, in hopes of getting his

his letter in, he was more then willing to take the risk. Juan's boss acknowledged his hard work,

While he excelled, he one day came across his letter to Marina, but without reading it, tossed it into
the censored pile, causing his death the very next morning. The theory that giving someone a little
power can eventually lead to destruction is evident in Juan's case. Although Sanger wasn't given
power, she made people knew who she was, and she was empowering women. She strived to get
information out, create an oral contraceptive, and have a place that women could eventually go to.

Opioids And The Prevalence Of Addiction And Overdose Essay
The effects of opioid overdose are traumatic, devastating, and preventable. It is estimated that there
are 128,000 people addicted to opioids in New Jersey (Stirling, 2015). Furthermore, many of those
addicted to the drug heroin became so after being prescribed narcotic pain killers. This is because
when the prescription runs out the addiction is still in place. Those addicted can find pills being sold
illegally but they can cost up to 30 dollars a pill. Heroin, costing only 5 dollars a bag according to
law enforcement officials, is a much better deal (Stirling, 2015).

My hometown Bergenfield, New Jersey is like many cities in the north. Bergenfield is full of rich
history and great food for visitors to partake in. The growth of Bergenfield began slow with small
residents and then later started to form its own with the help of the state of New Jersey and New
York helping to build the George Washington Bridge. When Bergenfield was discovered on June 25,
1894 by a railroad company the city was laid out as Bergen Fields stamped on the tickets. Modern

The French and Indian war had Colonies drained of resources, money and even men. As a result of
that war, the British Empire heavily taxed the people. However, the Colonies they had no input on
the taxes, "no taxation without representation". That resulted in the rise of the clash of British Rule
versus the new colony rule which brought about the American Revolution. New Jersey was a major
contribution towards the war for numerous reasons. While the British controlled the Sandy Hook
military post, many battles and scrimishes had been fought here on New Jersey soil including Ocean
Township. I saw a reoccurring tale of Colonial residents building ships in Deal Lake while battling
the British. During this time actually up the road from where I had grown up, was the cove they
refer to as where the ship building was done. The story goes that as a ship was being crafted with
purpose of intercepting British Supply ships entering the Sandy Hook areas. As the ship was being
made British Troops had received a tip by a local Loyalist whom told them of the location. While
they ship makers heard they have been spotted they quickly acted, and began to sink the ship before
the British arrived. It was then when they attacked the British and resurfacing the boat and
destroying the British ship, naming the Cove, Pirates

Preble County Argument Essay
Argument Essay Preble County is growing in culture, with a new winery in Eaton. They're using a
125 year old schoolhouse to rebuild as a tasting room. These founders' names are Mark Zdobinski
and Jim Meeks. They plan to open this 1890 schoolhouse next spring. The open field used to farm
the 1,000 grapevines is located behind the schoolhouse. With the school house being used as a
tasting a production area, many questions are out on the block. One of many is, Will this old
schoolhouse be sanitary and safe to keep food/drink products in? Is it safe? I believe that in order to
open this and be successful it will be professionally inspected and checked for any safety hazards.
The new Preble county winery is located on a busy route, 127. Heading towards I–70 from Eaton
you will come across the schoolhouse and field. Zdobinski and Meeks applied from the Ohio
Divisions of liquor control to get a license. Will this upcoming winery make Eaton grow and come

the winery; people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They say things like, "There are too many drunks running around Eaton as it is now." I think
differently. With a winery right here in the town of Eaton, people won't have the urgency to go to
Richmond or Dayton, just to find a pleasure in drinking. Instead it will become more of a natural
thing. Nothing will be special of traveling to a big city to drink. Why? When you have a new wine
source in your own small town. There are many benefits to the opening of this winery. I believe that
since Eaton is a fairly small town, buyers will take their liquor home and drink safely at a house.
This will limit the death rate from drunk driving accidents. Zdobinski and Meeks plan to have 14
different tastes, so the selection is a fair amount. With some grapes coming from California, this
may take years to get a full up and running estate grown

Residents feel that the youths hanging out is just a brewing pot for trouble. This problem can be
fixed by many members of the community with one major idea, give the kids something to do! The
town already has in place what is referred to as "Teen Nights," held by the Hasbrouck Heights
Recreation Commission. The problem with these "Teen Nights" is that it involves a minute amount
of the teens in this area. It involves only 7th and 8th graders. What about the high schoolers? They're
the ones who get bored most easily. To resolve this problem, the need for community support is at
its peak. If different organizations would pitch in and sponsor some special nights for the teens to
get together, there would be fewer nights for kids to roam the streets. The churches could pitch in by
opening up their basements, for a few nights throughout the year and hold different functions, like
dances or have guest speakers or comedians. The YMCA program that is offered to children in the
elementary school could be expanded to the twelfth grade, not only providing a place for youth to
go, but a place where they can be active. Also local restaurants can hold such things as a dinner
dance every once in a while only expecting a small fee in return. Another place that could be rented
out for teens can be the halls where Knights of Columbus, the VFW, or the Elks club resides.

Hurricane Sandy: the Storm that Changed New Jersey
Have you ever driven down the Garden State Parkway and seen car magnets that have "Jersey
Strong" written on them? To summarize what "Jersey Strong" means in a few words is that no
matter what obstacle strikes the Garden State, the people who live in New Jersey can get through
anything together. In the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, New Jersey was hit by a deadly hurricane
that left southern parts of the state in complete ruins. Not only were thousands of homes and
businesses destroyed, but also over one hundred people were killed nationwide. This hurricane was
a natural disaster that thousands of people could never forget about. The history making hurricane,
Hurricane Sandy, did not only leave destruction in New Jersey, but also personal and economic
troubles.
Hurricane Sandy started off as a small storm, but quickly grew to be a large and powerful hurricane
that caused major destruction to the Caribbean islands and East Coast of the United Sates of
America. On October 19, 2012, a tropical depression formed in the Caribbean Sea by Venezuela. In
a matter of five days, the tropical depression gained speed and became known as Hurricane Sandy.
Hurricane Sandy caused high wind speeds, rain, and even snow in all East Coast states, especially
New Jersey. On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy made landfall in Atlantic City, New Jersey with
peak wind speeds measuring just over 220 miles per hour. At this point, people who thought that

Another difference concerns the public housing. Sandy revealed how public housing has been built

The Effects Of Drug Overdose Deaths
New Jersey Heroin and Opiate Epidemic
Drug overdose deaths have become the leading cause of accidental deaths in New Jersey. The crisis
of drug addiction in teens and young adults has increased from 2012. According to a 2014 drug
report, there has been an increase of 200% over the past five years in substance abuse mainly due to
prescription medications (New Jersey Task Force). Furthermore, prescription medications may lead
to other substance abuse problems. For instance, many youths turn to opiates and heroin which are
less expensive than prescription medications to satisfy their addiction. In addition, opium is obtained

Other actions have been taken to stop the spread of substance abuse throughout New Jersey.
Governor Christie has signed an Overdose Prevention Law that has been taken into effect on
January 30 2017. This law provides six months of insurance coverage for substance abuse victims
undergoing treatment and also sets a requirement for doctors and their patients to know the risks
associated with prescription drugs before administering them (Pugliese). Oftentimes, prescription
painkillers are overdosed by patients who seek to numb their senses to all painful sensations which
can lead overtime to a dependence on the drug. Prescription painkillers such as morphine which can
lead to opium and heroin abuse may be lessened in their usage if patients knew the risks associated
with it and would only be taken when necessary. Individuals can also help decrease the addiction
rates of heroin and opium as well. As an individual from Brick, NJ, I would attend Board of
Education meetings and discuss ways to implement substance abuse seminars into schools for
students to learn the harmful effects of drugs. Students could have a course where they are taught
important life skills such as how to deal with emotional and physical trauma without resorting to

Home Or An Assisted Living Program
For many people, the idea of living in a retirement home or an assisted living program is an affront
to their dignity and independence. The majority of the aging population would prefer to stay in their
own homes, and live out their days surrounded by their own belongings in a comfortable
environment.
For many seniors, staying in their own home, or "aging in place" is more possible now than ever.
With a little pre–planning, more people can live independently even when some assistance is
needed.
Physical Modifications to the Home
Mobility and safety are the two key concerns when considering whether an older person should stay
in his or her home. Often, simple changes can be made to make sure that a person can easily access
important areas of the home.
For example, some older people may have difficulty with stairs. If a house has two stories, handrails
can be installed which make stairs easier to navigate. If climbing stairs is impossible, motorized
ramps can carry a person between floors. If a ramp or carrying system is too expensive, rooms on
the first floor may need to be converted into a bedroom and bathroom.
In the bathroom, simple modifications like handrails and grab bars in the showers can prevent falls
and other accidents. Some older adults may benefit from a seat in the shower, so that they do not
have to stand for prolonged periods. Additionally, installing shower heads which are lower to the
floor and extend can be useful for adults who need to remain seated

Heroin Epidemic Of New Jersey

  • 1. Heroin Epidemic Of New Jersey Vanessa Bethea Professor Sumner Principles of Public Health 29 November 2016 Heroin Epidemic in New Jersey The heroin epidemic in New Jersey has been more and more relevant in 2016 and in the past few months. There was a report earlier this year of a mother and father overdosing on heroin in a car with their toddler in the backseat. This along with other sad and tragic stories have shaped the public narrative of the heroin epidemic in New Jersey. A report last year by New Jersey Advance Media notes that the per–capita rate of 8.3 heroin–related deaths per 100,000 people is more than triple the national rate reported by the Centers for Disease Control (Hochman). Ocean County seems to be one of the impacted communities in New Jersey. The death toll in this county and many other in Jersey have been rising. Researchers have found that dealers in New Jersey are adding more Fentanyl, an opioid painkiller a hundred times more powerful than morphine, to the heroin and thus sells at higher rates because it produces a better and bigger high. And the purity of heroin in Jersey is higher than the average. The fact that drug dealers are cutting their product with deadly toxins, that make it more addictive and more dangerous and most importantly keeps the cost low. Heroin has morphine mixed in it and can be a more affordable stand in for painkillers. A bag of heroin goes for about $5 or $10 whereas painkillers go for about $40 or $50. The affordability of the drug and the addictive nature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No. Tomsriver New Jersey is a wonderful town where many crazy and fun things happen. During the summer time it is a mess with people from all over the state and surrounding states passing through so they can go to Seaside ( the beach town 5 minutes from my house). During the summer Tomsriver becomes crowded and buzzing. Downtown becomes a hub for many events. Every Wedensday in a park downtown a famers market is held. At this market you can buy anything from food to cloths. This summer was espically crowed though. This is because of the mobile phone game called "Pokemon Go". Pokemon Go is a game where you travel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this is because of the Halloween parade. Through the enitre month of October you can and will see people building floats in prep for the parade. The kids in Tomsriver actually have to trick or treat the day before Halloween because its such a big event. The Tomsriver Halloween parade has been going for 88 years and is now the 3rd largest Halloween parade in the world. People use to line up chairs up and down main street so they could get a good seat. I was in the parade twice actually. Both times it was a great experience if not a little embarssing. I was in the parade because of boy scouts. I remember walking down the street with my silly uniform on trying to be cool to impress the girls on the side that were watching. ( some things never change) I live about a block from mainstreet so the day of the parade is always crazy by me. Cars are lined up and down my street a few times Ive thought about charging people to park in front of my house , trust me I would have made a killing. Halloween day in Tomsriver has such a great atmosthphere its like everyone is town comes together for one night. Though it may be crazy and kind of annyoing to see all the cars honking and parked on my street i wouldnt want it any other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Future Of Renewable Energy Currently the United States depends heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for a majority of its energy. Fossil fuels are non–renewable, and they draw on limited resources that will eventually diminish and become too costly or too environmentally damaging to reclaim. In contrast, the many types of renewable energy resources–such as wind and solar energy–are regularly replenished and will may never run out. Most renewable energy comes either directly or indirectly from the sun. Sunlight, or what is referred to as solar energy, can be used directly for heating and lighting homes and other buildings. It may also be used for producing electricity, hot water heating, cooling, and a variety of commercial and industrial uses. The sun 's heat also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But it doesn 't occur naturally as a gas. It 's always combined with other elements, such as with oxygen to make water. Once separated from another element, hydrogen can be burned as a fuel or converted into electricity. Not all renewable energy. The sun also warms the surface of the ocean more than the ocean depths, creating a temperature difference that can be used as an energy source. This form of ocean energy can be used to produce electricity. Energy depletion patterns have changed over the history of our country as we developed new energy sources and as our uses of energy have changed. Wood served as an early form of energy until the late 1800s, even though water mills were an important energy source to some early industrial growth. Coal became dominant in the late 19th century before being surpassed by petroleum products in the middle of the last century, a time when natural gas usage also rose quickly. Since the mid–20th century, coal use has again intensified (mainly as a primary energy source for electric power generation), and a new forms of energy such as nuclear electric power which has made an increasingly significant contribution. After a pause in the 1970s, the use of petroleum and natural gas resumed growth, and the overall pattern of energy consumption since the late 20th century has remained somewhat constant. Coal Burning In Pennsylvania Growing up in South Jersey, I grew up near the coal burning electric plant so I wanted to check out what the impact of burning of coal would have on the environment and on people's health that could be living near the plant. In some research conducted, it was seen that burning coal produces airborne compounds, known as fly ash and bottom ash (collectively referred to as coal ash), which can contain large quantities of heavy metals that settle or wash out of the atmosphere into oceans, streams, and land. Coal combustion releases mercury and When mercury is deposited on land or in water, microorganisms convert part of it to a highly toxic form called methylmercury. Emissions from coal fired power plants contribute to global warming, ozone smog, acid rain, regional haze, and perhaps most consequential of all from a public health standpoint, fine particle pollution. A specific study conducted at the University of Pennsylvania was looking at the effects of the pollution from coal–fired plant in Pennsylvania had on New Jersey counties. The study found that Women had a greater risk of having babies of low or very low birthweights. Often under five and a half pounds. What about children's lungs? Nitrogen oxides, which are emitted from smokestacks, are known to irritate the respiratory tract. They also react with other pollutants to produce ozone, which is a key component of smog. And hazy, smoggy, ozone–filled air is just terrible for kids with asthma. There is particulate matter, especially the tiny particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers, which studies show can trigger asthma attacks. Children are especially vulnerable because they tend to breathe through their mouths, which means less filtering of pollutants by nose hair; they tend to hang out more outside, where levels of these pollutants are usually higher; and they run around a lot, which means they take in more nasty stuff and inhale it deep into their ... When buildout occurs in one region, development pressure begins in another, virtually insuring the Megalopolis concept of one huge urban corridor stretching between Boston and Washington D.C. Year after year, farmland dwindles, roads become congested, and more residents are left to compete for diminishing natural resources. When the competition for a vital resource is between residents and crops, human health and wellbeing takes precedence as a matter of policy. When this competition is between one group of residents and another group of residents, the only solution is to spread the resource even thinner often leading to inequities among citizens of differing financial or political influence. Decision– makers should have a zero tolerance agenda concerning any threat to our groundwater resources. This paper proposes that future growth needs to take into account our dependence on surface and subsurface water resources when planning developments and incorporating water resource studies into legislation meant to guide further development in New Jersey. The impact on citizens affected by new construction may not be felt until a crisis occurs and then it will be too late. Just like in real life they wait and wait to see if anything occurs and surely does, at 4:10 A.M they both catch two thieves trying to strip the Lincoln. It is estimated that there are 128,000 people addicted to opioids in New Jersey (Stirling, 2015). Furthermore, many of those addicted to the drug heroin became so after being prescribed narcotic pain killers. This is because when the prescription runs out the addiction is still in place. Those addicted can find pills being sold illegally but they can cost up to 30 dollars a pill. Heroin, costing only 5 dollars a bag according to law enforcement officials, is a much better deal (Stirling, 2015). Introduction and Goals The policy that this paper hopes to develop has to do with prescribed opioids and the prevalence of addiction and overdose. This policy will be developed using the incrementalism model because it is very large. The legislator this author will contact is Senator Christopher J. Conners of Ocean County, New Jersey. This legislator was chosen because the prevalence of opioid overdose occurs highest in Ocean County. By using the process of incrementalism, this large issue will be broken down into smaller more manageable pieces. These pieces will be easier to test for efficiency and change if needed (CCN, 2016). The first goal of this policy is to increase the education and availability of Naloxone (Narcan). The second goal involves utilizing prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs) to help prescribers recognize and educate high risk patients as well as educate them on the ... • 66. Tomahl Cook vs Nj State v. Tomahl Cook The case of Tomahl Cook vs. The State of New Jersey was a very grusome study in the tragedy of Katrina Suhan. Katrina was murdered February 14, 1998 in Old Bridge, New Jersey. She was only 15 years when she was brutally murdered by a cold–hearted ruthless murderer. Katrina 's life was taken away from her at such a young age due to a sick human being. The experience of driving by where Katrina lived, where she was abducted, and where she was murdered was very moving. I found it very interesting to follow the trail of a murder as if I was on the case myself. The street where Katrina was abducted is a pretty busy street which is North Stevens St. in South Amboy. Katrina had a very long walk that night to reach her destination. Unfortunately she would never make it back to her house the evening of Valentine's Day. Instead she was brutally murdered and left to die in a field behind a bowling alley where now lies the Home Depot in Sayerville. Her body was found by people who were riding atv's behind the bowling alley in a wooded area. Her skull was fractured as she suffered blunt force trauma which induced her death. The Home Depot was sincere enough to leave a space where a memorial lies for Katrina where her body was found. The memorial is a nice area where an engraved stone has Katrina's information and the usual information a tombstone would read. Overall I found it to be a very interesting experience to go through the steps of the murder case. I could almost put myself in Katrina's shoes that night when her life was tragically ended unfortunately. Tomahl Cook is serving a life sentence in prison which he absolutely deserves, but none the less I think he should have got the death penalty. I feel if any human being abducts somebody and murders them should have their own life taken away from them. I think this is the proper way justice should be served. A good thing FEMA did was not stopping the voluntary support and supplies, which came from all over, so they were a lot more prepared. Comparing city government actions during and after Sandy and Katrina is like comparing night and day, with one capable of springing into action, the other incapacitated by systemic breakdowns and leadership vacuums (Citiwire). Another difference concerns the public housing. Sandy revealed how public housing has been built on the most vulnerable New York sites, which took damage severe. Katrina, though, became an excuse for New Orleans leadership, with a more–than–willing federal government, to demolish undamaged, solidly built public housing from the 1930s. Replacements are privately developed and economically mixed, with only a small percentage of public housing units. Both cities suffered a health care crisis, but with a difference. New Orleans closed its public hospital, considered one of the country's best, even though it was restored and patient–ready. The crisis of drug addiction in teens and young adults has increased from 2012. According to a 2014 drug report, there has been an increase of 200% over the past five years in substance abuse mainly due to prescription medications (New Jersey Task Force). Furthermore, prescription medications may lead to other substance abuse problems. For instance, many youths turn to opiates and heroin which are less expensive than prescription medications to satisfy their addiction. Other actions have been taken to stop the spread of substance abuse throughout New Jersey. Governor Christie has signed an Overdose Prevention Law that has been taken into effect on January 30 2017. This law provides six months of insurance coverage for substance abuse victims undergoing treatment and also sets a requirement for doctors and their patients to know the risks associated with prescription drugs before administering them (Pugliese). Oftentimes, prescription painkillers are overdosed by patients who seek to numb their senses to all painful sensations which can lead overtime to a dependence on the drug. Prescription painkillers such as morphine which can lead to opium and heroin abuse may be lessened in their usage if patients knew the risks associated with it and would only be taken when necessary. Individuals can also help decrease the addiction rates of heroin and opium as well. As an individual from Brick, NJ, I would attend Board of Education meetings and discuss ways to implement substance abuse seminars into schools for students to learn the harmful effects of drugs. • 76. Home Or An Assisted Living Program For many people, the idea of living in a retirement home or an assisted living program is an affront to their dignity and independence. The majority of the aging population would prefer to stay in their own homes, and live out their days surrounded by their own belongings in a comfortable environment. For many seniors, staying in their own home, or "aging in place" is more possible now than ever. With a little pre–planning, more people can live independently even when some assistance is needed. Physical Modifications to the Home Mobility and safety are the two key concerns when considering whether an older person should stay in his or her home. Often, simple changes can be made to make sure that a person can easily access important areas of the home. For example, some older people may have difficulty with stairs. If a house has two stories, handrails can be installed which make stairs easier to navigate. If climbing stairs is impossible, motorized ramps can carry a person between floors. If a ramp or carrying system is too expensive, rooms on the first floor may need to be converted into a bedroom and bathroom. In the bathroom, simple modifications like handrails and grab bars in the showers can prevent falls and other accidents. Some older adults may benefit from a seat in the shower, so that they do not have to stand for prolonged periods. Additionally, installing shower heads which are lower to the floor and extend can be useful for adults who need to remain seated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am not aware of any Vermaport (or similar system manufactured by a competitor) being installed/replaced without the people–moving part being concurrently installed/replaced with the cart–moving part.
