• It is a metaphorical presentation of reality. It
makes learning more interesting and effective
as it creates a strong appeal to the emotions.
• The cartoon is the interpretation illustration,
which uses symbols to portray an opinion, a
scene or a situation.

• Personalized humour
• Fantasy
• Incongruity
• Satire
• Exaggertion

5. Principles
• Quality of the drawing should be high
primarily for visual effectiveness.
• It should be simple, clear which tells the story
without too much explanation.
Symbols should be familiar and represent a
concept or idea to which the students can react
intellectually.
The teacher should evaluate the point of view
being presented.

6. Advantages
• They can be used in appraising, interpreting
and emphasizing.
Disadvantage
• Time consuming.
