4. INTRODUCTION
Flannel board sometime called as flannel graph ,visual
board , frick board , slap board , feld board .
It is a display board made of Wood, Cardboard or straw
board covered with colored flannel or woolen cloth.
A flannel board of 1.58 1.5m is most widely used. It
can be fixed to the chalk board.

6. PREPARING FLANNEL BOARD

A PIECE OF PLYWOOD, CARDBOARD OR POSTER BOARD
A PIECE OF FLANNEL LARGE ENOUGH TO COVER THE BOARD
A PAIR OF SCISSORS
DUCT TAPE
FELT SQUARES TO MAKE SHAPES AND OTHER CUT - OUTS
7. PREPARATION PROCEDURE
WRAP THE PIECE OF FLANNEL AROUND THE BOARD YOU HAVE
CHOSEN
SECURE ALL EDGES AROUND THE BACK SIDE WITH THE DUCT
TAP,STAPLES OR TACKS.
THE ITEMS TO BE DISPLAYED SHOULD ALSO BE PASTED WITH THE
SAME FLANNEL ON BACK SIDE WHICH KEEP IT ADHERENT TO THE
BOARD WHITHOUT VISIBLE SUPPORT.
8. PURPOSE
They help improve the visual artefact of the written
content or illustration to a large group of learners.
To add variety to the class room activity.
To provide information and motivate the learner.
To convey idea more expressively.
They help communication the idea in an effective manner.
They supplement and correlate information, so save time.
They add variety to the storyline.
9. GUIDELINE FOR USING A FLANNEL BOARD
The contents of the board should be organized around the central theme.
Appearance must be neat and orderly.
The material should be displayed in an attractive manner.
Avoid overcrowding on the board.
It should be clearly seen by the group members.
The displayed pictures should be sufficiently large in size .
Remove the picture as soon as their purpose is over.

11. LIMITATIONS OF A FLANNEL
BOARD
• CANNOT BE USED FOR LARGE GROUPS.
• NEEDS MORE PREPARATORY TIME.
