2. A white background pushes everything further from the page, and simplistic black san serif text becomes clearer and bolder than before. Using the red to highlight certain words, allows emphasis and clearly structures the sections of text. Anything seen as red identifies immediately to the Q magazine logo in my head, thus imprinting the idea that Elton’s gig, Chris Moyle's, Up front and Features are all connotations of Q magazine itself. Three main pictures are used, firstly the lead singer from “The streets”, recognising back to the front cover. Secondly, Elton John, and iconic, infamous star. It is not surprising that this is the prominent picture, as his face alone will appeal to hundreds of fans. The smallest picture is that of the front cover, simply there is reinforce that this is indeed Q magazine, and its design features are fairly consistent throughout. Consistency suggests well organised and successful attributes. The title is san serif black, on white. Extremely simple and clear. Q doesn't feature itself on complicated design, but straight to the point music entertainment. “this is music, right here”, a quote i imagine Q magazine would say if it could.
3. This slight more intricate design offers lots of information, very immediately. This layout suggests NME is bursting with information, waiting for you to read, giving the reader a sense that this is value for money. A picture of Richey manic is centred. It is aged in black and white, further drawing your attention to the surrounding text and thus the information within the magazine. A huge index of all the band’s featured are listed to the left side. This asyndetic list seems never ending, further supporting the “value for money” layout. Using basic colours such as white, black and red work nicely together, whilst reflecting the NME logo. Consistency throughout seems professional and well thought out. The right side is divided into 5 sections, showing what more detailed features can be accessed, as appose to a never end list of names. At the bottom of the page, the only use of yellow is included, to highlight a special offer. Drawing attention to this is to draw out its importance and emphasise is great deal being offered to you .
4. The layout of this is approached very nicely. One larger pictures is situated at the bottom, acting as a support for the rest of the text. These pose’s are quiet abstract. Flung against a fence, differently and dressed mainly in black paint the picture of a gang, protecting their ‘turf’ suggesting that this magazine is their turf. A pull quote sits towards the bottom, supporting this rebellious look, reading about having a good time. At the top is a list of Bands, with a small paragraph under each one describing briefly what we’re going to be told about them. Putting these names in a bolder text draws our attention to it, and quickly seeing just who is init, and what page they’re on. having the guys in front of the fence, seems as if behind this fence is the magazine itself, and placing text above this suggests this is what lays beyond the fence/next page. The rebellious atmosphere left from the front cover is defiantly supported on this contents page, with the use of abstract clothing and defiant stances.
