2. Types of Teaching Aides Models – three-dimensional representations of concepts or real objects that cannot reasonably be brought into the classroom. Models are usually representations of something that has been scaled up or down to provide a three-dimensional outlook. One example on how I would use this in my classroom is by making a model of the solar system. This is a great hands on way to help my students learn!
3. This is a model of a tooth. It has been scaled up to show the students the breakdown of the nerves and tissue.
4. Dioramas – displays that represent a scene, often created from a cut cardboard box. I think these are a great way to get students to learn. It allows them to be creative with using their imagination but it is also constructive. In Elementary school I was required to make a scene of what I thought it would look like when dinosaurs ruled the world. I had a great time looking for the perfect dinosaurs, making my trees, and I learned a lot!
5. This diorama illustrates a section of the Mississippi River. The detail is intense and the water is realistic.
6. Different ways to display technology Bulletin boards – offer a flexible surface that provides and easy-to-change venue for a variety of print and graphic elements. Flip Charts – can be used to write text or graphic messages that can be either saves on the pad or torn off and displayed around the classroom. Magnetic boards – usually small surfaces that display visual elements through magnets. Chalkboards/whiteboards – You can use a variety of chalk to write on chalkboards. Whiteboards offer you different colors of dry erase markers to write with.
