1. 3D Construction Challenge
My task was to use marshmallows and toothpicks to make 3D shapes. I used toothpicks to
represent vertices and marshmallows to represent edges.
Based on the clues given, I solved the problems by creating the following models:
Cube with, 6faces, 8vertices and 12edges.
Square pyramid with, 5faces, 10vertices and 15edges.
Pentagonal prism with, 7faces, 10verties and 15edges.
Pentagonal pyramid with, 6faces, 12vertices and 7edges.
Hexagonal pyramid with, 7faces, 12vertices and 7edges.
Octagonal prism with 8faces, 24vertices and 16edges.
It was fun to thinking about what is the shape because it is very exciting and fun to stick
marshmallows to toothpicks. It was challenging to stick marshmallows because
marshmallows is very sticky so every time it stuck to my hands. This task made me think
about the meaning of faces, vertices and edges.During this task, I learned more about 3D
shapes because those questions let me think,‘What is each shape?’
I still have questions about 2D shape’s names. Next, I would like to investigate about pi.
