1. 3D Construction Challenge
My task was to use toothpicks and marshmallows to build 3D shapes.I used toothpicks
to represent edges and marshmallows to represent vertices.
Based on the clues given, I solved the problems by creating the following models:
Cube, which had 6 faces , 12 edges and 8 vertices
Sqace pyramid, which had 5 faces , 8 edges and 5 vertices.
Pentagonal prism, which had 7 faces , 15 edges and 10 vertices
Pentagonal pyramid, which had 6 faces, 10 edges and 6 vertices
Hexagonal pyramid, which had 7 face, 12 edges and 7 vertices
Octagonal prism, which had 10 face, 24 edges and 16 vertices
It was fun to build 3D shapes. It was challenging to write the name of 3D shape. This
task made me think about some differences in 3D shapes. During this task, I learned
more about building 3D shapes .I still have questions about why do we do this 3D
shapes? Next, I would like to investigate more 3D shapes.
