1. 3D Construction Challenge
My task was to make my own 3D shape by using toothpicks and marshmallows.
I used toothpicks to represent the edges and marshmallows to represent the vertices.
Based on the clues given, I solved the problems by creating the following models:
A Cube, which had 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices.
A square pyramid, which had 5 faces, 8 edges and 10 vertices.
A pentagonal prism, which had 6 faces, 10 edges and 6 vertices.
A hexagonal pyramid, which had 7 faces, 12 edges and 7 vertices.
An octagonal prism, which had 10 faces, 24 edges and 16 vertices.
It was fun to solve the problems with my partner and we had funny moments. It was
challenging to find out which shape we had to make but we figured it out by thinking
then counting the sides of the shape to see whether it matches the sides of out
toothpicks and marshmallows. This task made me think about
During this task, I learned more about…
I still have questions about…. Next, I would like to investigate….
