Purpose: Creating Vision for your Grade Level Teams
Time Parameters: You will have 20 minutes to complete activity and 10 minutes to review other grade group and
area cover stories.
Introduction
“Imagine that it’s the Summer of 2010. As you are driving/walking to Laurel Elementary School, you see a news
stand with the latest copies of all your favorite magazines and newspapers. Then, on the cover of one, you notice a
big headline about our school. Your grade level /enrichment area is highlighted for academic advancement and
excellence.
Group work on cover story
For the next 20 minutes you will work in teams to create that “cover story” and its other elements (sidebars, images,
quotes, etc.).” As you begin working on your project you may want to consider some thought provoking questions
such as:
1. Who are your stakeholders? How do you work with tht stakeholders?
2. What is our image in the community where we work? What do people say about us?
3. How do we handle good time? How do we handle stress or hard times?
4. What has happened to the community as a result of our work?
Once you have completed cover story please post it on your “grade level/enrichment board”
