Design Challenge – Linda Alepin, 8-5-13 SAY Stakeholder It’s a chess game to connect into organizations for interviews 30% of professors were involved – made connections and supported my passion Thousands of jobs I could get – thousands I do not want Times have changed – there is no longer a “job waiting for you” with a lifetime in the same company Bottom Line: Finding a job is a full time job Growing up in an interconnected world, I want personalization As a Millennial – I want to be passionate about my job Job Fairs are a good source of internships while in school Career Center only for engineers, accountants, or finance majors HR people at career and job fairs “find majors that have the greatest impact on the bottom line.” Hard to translate my unique value proposition to other people Many Millenials moving back home. Safety blanket does not force them to change their circumstances Now competing with international, laid off, more experienced – MANY factors

INSIGHTS • There has to be a better way to match interests and available jobs • It is important to get other people in the campus community engaged in helping students • Safety nets are not necessarily the way to motivate job seekers although they can provide $ to help
